Update from the Collectorate: Changed Collecting Has!
This is the fourth in a 5-part series previewing key features of THE COLLECTORATE, a new online store that launches soon. THE COLLECTORATE was created By Collectors, For Collectors!

All Action Figures Include A Protective Case! It really is that simple! If there is a protective case made that fits an action figure, we will include it with the purchase of the figure.

First, we believe that the most cost effective way to protect the card and bubble from damage is to place the figure and its packaging in a protective plastic case.

Second, the single most likely time for the figure packaging to be damaged is during shipping. Therefore, we place the action figure the protective plastic case prior to shipping. The case then goes into one of our 200 pound test shipping boxes surrounded by biodegradable cornstarch peanuts. This is all part of The Collectorate Shield Packing©.

Using The Collectorate ID©, a unique hexadecimal number given to each item, and The Collectorate Shield Rating© together, you can HAND-PICK the exact item you want right down to the individual action figure and be assured which item you will receive. Add to that The Collectorate Shield Packing© and the fact that your figures are shipped in a protective case, and you can be sure that your item will arrive in the same condition as when you selected it on our website. Stay tuned for our next article: The Collectorate Pricing Philosophy: A New Perspective

Happy Trails Old Friend:
Happy Trails Old Friend! With a heavy heart I'd like to wish our good friend Dave Demel a.k.a. Lt. Starfox a Happy Retirement from the Santroopers.com staff. For over five years Dave has been a very active part of our team. Starfox managed to add several events from the Lone Star state to our Dewback Patrol menu, as well as providing photos for countless Sandwatch Guides additions. On top of all of that he goes down as one of the greatest Troopers in the world you could ever make a deal with as well as a world-class forums moderator. While he won't be going very far, it was just that time to step back from collecting and focus on the family. If this wasn't enough on the resume, he is always and will continue to be one of my very good friends. Happy Trails Lt. Starfox, God bless you my friend and thank you very much for your service. If you'd like to wish him well please do so in this thread, and feel free to razz him about pink shirts as well!

Hasbro Q & A Session:
Latest Q&A from HasbroWe are happy to report we've received our latest round of questions from the high command of Hasbro. This week our readers have asked what are the chances of seeing an updated Dak Raltir? How in the world can they justify mass producing decently articulated build a droid parts for pack-ins and not find a way not to include the same articulation across the line? Have you considered the idea of a game pack that would include two figures and an older PC game, similar to what is being done with the comic packs? Log-in to the forums and check out what they had to say. Make sure to visit our partner site the Jawa.com for their latest barrage. Also there will not be a set at Well of the Souls.com as the deadline was missed for this round! Do you have a question for the Hasbro Q & A Team? Log-in and leave your question in the forums.

Update from the Collectorate: Changed Collecting Has!
This is the third in a 5-part series previewing key features of THE COLLECTORATE, a new online store that launches soon. Our store was created By Collectors, For Collectors.

Know your Item is Protected En Route to You:

The Collectorate Shield Packing© helps ensure that your item arrives in the same condition as when you selected it on our website. While the shipping carrier does play a part in that process, much of the damage in transit can be avoided with proper packing. The Collectorate Shield Packing© is a 4-step process designed to maximize the protection of your items during shipping and transit. These steps may seem simple but our personal experience as collectors has shown us that these steps are not common practice everywhere.

First, we only ship action figures in a protective plastic case. If there is a protective case made for a figure and we can obtain it, we put the action figure inside it before we put it in a shipping box. This is the only way to protect the card during shipping.

Second, we only use 200 pound test shipping boxes. These boxes have been designed to pass a bursting test of 200 pounds per square inch. Starting with a better box means better protection for your items during transit. For more visit the our community forums for the entire article!

“Hope this gets out in time, I have been calling every game stop in the Westchester, N.Y. area and the ones that are on the midnight madness list such as the ones in Brewster, Yonkers, White Plains and Cortlandt stores are not supposed to be open at midnight this is from each stores manager and they have no clue as to the existence of the exclusive Stormtrooper commander. Even the ones in Poughkeepsie and Hyde Park are not participating in this TFU Midnight Madness sale and when I was asked where I had heard about this I told them it’s all over the net at several Star Wars news sites. Update from the Collectorate: Changed Collecting Has!
This is the second in a 5-part series previewing key features of The Collectorate, a new online store that launches soon. The Collectorate was created By Collectors, For Collectors.

Know the Condition of an Item before you buy:

The Collectorate Shield Rating© is designed to focus on the quality of an item’s packaging from the customer’s perspective. It is meant to be the customer’s guide to the quality of a collectable they are considering for purchase, and that item’s display value. Each item in our inventory is graded for quality on the same 0.5 to 5.0 Shield Scale using 0.5 Shield increments. Our staff graders are brutally honest! They are collectors first, and they tell you what they themselves would want to know in making a decision.

The Collectorate Shield Rating© allows for more detail in rating an item’s appearance. Using the C-Scale, most items are sold between C-7 and C-9. That’s just 3 categories. We use 10 possible categories in that same range, allowing us to be much more precise. All of the Shield Ratings indicate the condition of a product’s packaging. The collectable piece itself is always in mint, factory sealed condition.

Using The Collectorate ID© a unique hexadecimal number given to each item, and The Collectorate Shield Rating© together, you can hand pick the exact item you want, right down to the individual action figure and be assured which item you will receive. In part 3, we present: Know Your Item Is Protected En Route To You: The Collectorate Shield Packing© Stay tuned to Sandtroopers.com for next week's preview.

Never Forget:
Keep WINNING and Rolling America! With another year that has passed it's hard to believe that seven years have passed since the attack on the World Trade Center. We ask our members to take time in their day to think about all of our armed forces who are still fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. We wish them the best in their missions and hope they can all come home soon. We will never forget the men and women who were lost in New York, Washington D.C. and Shanksville, PA. These people were true heros, their courage knew no boundaries. Our condolences to all the families and friends to those who have been lost in this tragedy as well as the war on terror. United We Find!

Sandwatch Preview: Darth Spice Interrogation!
Darth Spice Interrogation!?!Last week Chicago Public Radio WBEZ approached me looking for people who filled in as extras for the upcoming film, Fanboys. That is one experience I wasn't so lucky to take part in. However that wasn’t the only thing they were looking for. In fact they wanted to know about me, and what got me interested and immersed in this culture, which of course included all of you. We even got my son involved, as he was extremely interested in learning how the lightsaber is being passed from father to son. I believe Mr. Joe DeCault found out for sure I had quite a unique story to tell and I can’t wait to see how it turned out this week when it hits the air! For those of you who can’t tune in locally, we’ll keep an eye out on the links for those of you who are interested in seeing our latest Windy City “air attack”!

Update from the Collectorate: Changed Collecting Has!
Soon, a new online source for Star Wars collectors will open its doors! This online retail store called “The Collectorate” was created by a group or avid Star Wars Collectors. Their tagline, “By Collectors, For Collectors”, speaks to its origins and its focus. This group of enterprising collectors identified many frustrations they had encountered while purchasing items for their own collections. Finding no remedies for these frustrations, they decided to open a store focusing on the collector’s point of view. This is the first in a 5-part series previewing key features of The Collectorate.

Always get the Item you Ordered: The Collectorate ID©
In this posting we preview The Collectorate ID©. Each item in The Collectorate’s inventory is assigned a unique hexadecimal number. This number is affixed to each item by means of a small sticker that stays with the item throughout inventory, sales, packing, shipping, and direct to you. The stickers are produced exclusively for The Collectorate, and have a special adhesive that allows them to be removed.

The Collectorate ID© System allows you, the collector, to be certain you receive the exact item you selected online. You get to choose right down to the individual action figure. Now you can hand pick items just like you were there! What’s more, that number will never be used again. It belongs to you only! In part 2 we present...

Know The Condition Of An Item Before You Buy: The Collectorate Shield Rating© Stay tuned to Sandtroopers.com for next week’s preview article. Check The Collectorate.com often for more preview articles, sample screen shots, and the opening day announcement.

Hasbro Q & A Session:
Latest Q&A from HasbroWe are happy to report we've received our latest round of questions from the high command of Hasbro. This week our readers have asked why does it cost more money to manufacture a ball joint for a Star Wars figure than for a G.I. Joe figure? What are the average costs of mass production anyways? The Clone Trooper Power Quad is pretty cool but will we ever see a Dewback or Speeder Bike? Log-in to the forums and check out what they had to say. Make sure to visit our partner site the Jawa.com for their latest barrage. Also there will be a set at Well of the Souls.com for those of you who dig Indiana Jones! Do you have a question for the Hasbro Q & A Team? Log-in and leave your question in the forums.

Dan's Dioramas: Ben's House Revisited
Over 100 photos! All good things to those who wait, or so they say! This is the complete pictorial of the building of Ben's house back from 2007, which I consider one of my finest build of all time. We have 102 pictures and NO waiting to catch a glimpse of what goes into building an extreme diorama such as this. A special thanks goes out to Richard Chasemore. He is the artist who inspired me to take on this project. Richard is one who illustrated Ben's house in the book Inside The Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy, and provided me with an original inked image to use as a reference. This was an intricate but fun build and I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. What's next you ask? I'm not telling, but we sure hope you enjoy the latest update Troopers!
