Sandtrooper Clay Reports:
“Hey Guys, Here is some news from Western Mass. Wal-Mart unveils their Toyland set up Sunday Morning at 7:30am. Figured I would check it out tonight to see if there was anything worth while. Found 1 case of the Wal-Mart exclusive Star wars Unleashed figures. I picked up Jedi Luke and Darth Vader. Both come in the great new tube style packaging. No need to open these guys, as the packaging makes it display 10 times better. Hadn't heard of these out yet, so I figured I would pass it along.”

Update from Sideshow Collectibles:
If the militaries of Star Wars line from Sideshow weren’t enough in the newsletter last week, many of us overlooked the Medicom produced Yoda VCD figure. The Vinyl Collectible Doll is just beginning to catch on and if you take the time to note the great details in not only the overall sculpt itself, but the entire wardrobe as well. You just might have to talk yourself out of buying it! Also many collectors will notice Plo Koon now has the corrected blue lightsaber instead of the once shown green. Finally, if you missed out on the Sith Anakin or Exclusive Darth Maul 12-inch figures, you might want to get on the wait list. There also may be more of the Luke Skywalker and Luke & Yoda Premium Format figures available as well, so it might not be too late. One's Response to the New OT DVDs
One's Response to the New OT DVDsThe new Star Wars DVDs from the Original Trilogy (Episodes IV, V and VI) came out just over a week ago, and there have already been lots of mixed reviews about them. Some have been happy that they finally have the originals in their collection, while others have had their fair share of complaints regarding them. One writer from the Mercury News in San Jose, California, has expressed his opinion and theories about why these DVDs were released (again), and I have to say I'm in the same boat as him. I've already spent a lot of money on previous Star Wars films (VHS and DVD versions), and because of that I'm not planning on getting these. Nonetheless, you'll have to check out the story this guy wrote, because it's definitely worth the read. Make sure you share your thoughts about these DVDs over in our forums.

Is Hasbro still making this?“Hey all, I was at one of our Wal-Mart's and saw one case (yes, one case) marked basic figures. I took it down and opened it and low and behold it was the Naboo wave. They also just received the first Endor wave with C-3P0 and Death Star Gunner. I left the shelves full. My local Waterloo, IL Wal-Mart had the new Endor wave. I bought Luke, Gragra, the Podracers, a Caucasian and African-American Endor Soldier, and two Rep Beens. I left a few more of each on the shelves. Sandtrooper Jedimaster Eric Reports:
“Hello Troops, I have good and bad news here in Western NY. Pegs are starting to fill up here but still no Naboo wave. Also, I got my 501st Stormtrooper from Hasbro and I want to say they are doing a fantastic job on packaging lately, figure arrived mint! The Bad News: My car battery died on Tuesday morning so I was unable to get to Wal-Mart to score the OT DVD's until today. Now, not that I'm surprised, but the DVD figure 3 packs all sold out in the first day. So I missed them for good it seems. Does anyone have a set they would like to sell or trade for?”

2006 Star Wars OT DVDs Are Here!
Yeah, but are they worth the money? After all the hype about these films, they were finally released all across the country yesterday. The DVDs I'm referring to are of course the three films from the Original Trilogy, Star Wars Episodes IV, V and VI. Instead of them being sold as a complete set (Best Buy was nice enough to put them in their own metal collector's tin) they were sold individually. All the major retail chains had their own special pricings and giveaways with them, but where did you end up buying yours? If you've already seen them, was it well worth the wait and the money for them? What are the good and bad points about them? Share your thoughts and opinions over in our forums.

A moment of silence:
Hey Osama, YOUR MAMMA! We WILL find you and you will die! It’s hard to believe that it has been five years since the tragedy at the World Trade Center. While the world is forever a changed place, together we all can do our part to win the war on terror. For some it’s the ultimate honor of defending this great country, God bless every single man and woman in uniform and bring them home safely. We’d like to also express our sorrows for those who have sacrificed their own lives so we can live ours. The news will bring painful reminders and we will all feel the emotions of horror, fear, sorrow and anger all over again. We can only hope with all of the problems in this imperfect world, some day we can all live together in peace. We’d again like to express our regrets and sorrows for all who lost their lives in this tragedy. Take the time for a moment of silence and pay proper respect.

Sandtrooper Darth Vegas Reports:
Coming soon with the force of an X-Wing!“Hey Troops, It's been a while but better late than never! Way out West things are moving along smoothly with all the normal SW activity. Toys R Us was loaded with Mossy X-Wings and AT-AT's, Target has plenty of new figures and they also have the exclusive Unleashed figs. I dig the display packaging if it's not all banged up. Wal-Mart is slow slow for some reason, and all in all its just kind of an end of summer ho hum type atmosphere on the collecting scene. The fall and winter seasons will be great though with all the new stuff coming out from the majors, Gentle Giant, Sideshow, and Kotobukiya. Until next time!”

Sandtrooper dustrho Reporting In:
S.C.A.L.P. Weapons SupplierSince I have some much needed time off while I'm in between jobs, I thought I'd hop on my Dewback and hit up a couple of stores that are fairly close to me. I chose to stop at the Target and Wal-Mart that are on Route 59 in Plainfield. Of course that Wal-Mart didn't have squat that I was searching for. Their Star Wars section is non-existent now, as they have crammed all the remaining Star Wars products into this small area in the toy section. The stuff isn't even located in the action figure aisle anymore. Plus, they don't have anything discounted and VTSC figures are still $9.96, whereas most other stores have them for something like five dollars. I then went over to Target and scored a few things. I was able to pick up two addition shocktrooper figures to add to my growing army, and also snagged two Titanium vehicles that I've been trying to get a hold of... the TIE Interceptor and B-Wing fighter. Even though I didn't grab too much, it was still a worthy hunt.

Major Accomplishment for Sandtroopers.com!
Major Accomplishment for Sandtroopers.com!Sandtroopers.com has been around for six years, and we have accomplished so much along the way. I am proud to announce that we have just hit a major milestone. Since our forums opened up a couple years ago, we have had a lot of activity in our Marketplace section where people sell/buy things and perform trades with one another. During that time we have had 176 loyal troopers help each other fill holes in their collections. In those two years we have had several outstanding members who have consistently helped other troopers, where seven of those members have over 50+ feedback, three members with over 100+ feedback, and one with almost 200 feedback. Those are truly amazing numbers! Our philosophy is simple, and if you're not using Sandtroopers.com then you're missing out on something special. I'd like to personally give a big "thank you" to everyone who is listed in our Feedback thread. Share your thoughts about this accomplishment over in our forums. United We Find!

Welcome Dave Castle!
The past six years have been quite a battle. From obscurity and an idea between two collectors named Pat and George the website Sandtroopers.com was born. Since then there have been quite a few people who came and went and helped build this great community we have today. The work of Vaughn, Jason and countless others does not go in vain, as we continue to collect and serve every day. Part of my job here at Sandtroopers is finding and plugging in people who fit into our system. A couple years ago, I found a very resourceful person at a small toy show in Kane County, IL that has proven to be quite a weapon. It was through Dustrho that our latest Super-Trooper was discovered. Many of you will know and remember the work of Dave Castle from his years of service at the Jedi Defender. It is with great pleasure to announce the arrival of Sandtrooper Dave to our very talented staff. We look forward to having a man of his skill joining our ranks! Dave has quite a variety of talents, all of which we'll be putting to use and soon.

Sandtrooper Rojo Reports: Star Wars Road Trip
“Hey Troops, Sandtrooper Rojo reporting from Houston. The Star Wars Road Trip made its stop in Houston Sunday. It was about a 45 to an hour promo for the DVDs and Lego Star Wars game. Tons of kids in costume, there were lots of Darth Vader’s. They gave out prizes for costumes and trivia. There were photos ops after the show. But the line was to long for my little ones to wait. My daughter was able to win a LE ESB DVD dressed as Chewbacca. My son was the only Yoda in the center. My other son was Dagobah Luke because we misplaced his Vader costume. It was a good time. It is strange to see all the young Vader fans. When I was that age I had a healthy fear of Vader. My heroes were Luke and Han. My kids say who is Luke? You mean the baby? Happy Hunting!”

Wal-Mart in Niagara Falls has helped me score all 14 of the Greatest Battles figures and Endor wave, plus $5 vintage Biker scouts and Tuskens on clearance! I also picked up a few army builders to bulk up my Wookie army. Then I got my Lucas Stormtrooper in the mail too. What a great week! Hope everyone else is finding what they need, MTFBWY. ”

Has anyone changed their minds about these figures yet, or do some of you still not like these things? I like them and they'll definitely find their way to my collection some day.
