Sandtrooper Jedimaster-C Reports: Live from the Bay it's Chad Ryan!
Are they still making these?“Check out these pictures of a Custom Aurra sing I saw on ebay.I wish the figures looked like this back in 1999 when TPM came out. There are both front and back shots of the card. Some of the work is simply art. I think Hasbro did good with VotC but I think they still have some work to do.”

Audio Problems with the OT DVD Set? Say It Ain't So!
OTC on DVDThe hottest DVD set to ever come out, Star Wars: Original Trilogy, is supposedly not a perfectly made DVD set. I just finished reading an article over at DVDAnswers.com that John Williams' fans have found out there is a major audio glitch in the first of four DVDs, "Star Wars: A New Hope." The sound effects throughout this movie are just fine, but the soundtrack is where the problem is at. I'm going to have to try this out when I get home from work tonight, but supposedly the music is backwards between the right and left channels. You might want to read more about this here, and you'll definitely want to talk about this in our forums.

Sandtrooper Jon Reports:
“Ypsilanti MI: The Meijer on Carpenter Rd. had the VOTC Lando, Vader, Yoda, and C-3PO this afternoon. I passed on them, so if anyone in the area wants them, there is one of each. Not all of the cards are mint. I saw a hint of the final OTC figures a few weeks ago at a Toys 'R Us, but the stores in the area have been very dry since the DVD release.”

Sandtrooper Jetfire Reports:
DEEP Recon in the Great Lakes State!“Troopers, after another quick whirlwind run through my local stores, things are beginning to look up. However, up means just catching up with the rest of civilization with respect to the OTC figs. Target has continued to play catch up by just now receiving the second wave of OTC figs (CC pilot, Bespin Leia, etc.). While they seem to all be there, it took them long enough to arrive. They also had the new Unleashed Secura, Bossk, and Tusken Raider. Still no Slave-1.... maybe in time for Christmas at this rate. Wal-Mart added some news figs with the DVD figure 3-packs. They only had the ANH and ESB sets. No ROTJ, which is what I was looking for. TRU has still got the same old stuff + the POTJ leftovers. Not bad if you are looking for a few Teebos for a diorama. They do have a nice Transformers and G.I. Joe sale going on (buy 2 get 1 free) so check that out if you are into those as well. Besides that, still looking for a trooper to work a trade with so I can get my hands on the OTC vehicles (Slave-1, Falcon, and Y-wing). Also looking for the newer VOTC (mainly Fett and Stormtrooper). That's it for now! Sandtrooper Jetfire (aka WedgeWannaBe) out!”

Sandtrooper Southern Sith Reports:
“Hey Troops, for the release of the DVD's, FYE (For Your Entertainment), formerly Camelot music, was giving away posters. The posters were Movie poster size (27"x40") and of the covers of the each individual DVD with Star Wars Trilogy across the bottom. The store here in Goodlettsville, TN only received ANH and ESB. The manager checked a couple of stores close to here, but to no avail, found none from ROJ. I was wondering if anyone out there had the ROJ poster from this giveaway. I have plenty of items to trade for it, so I can make my set of these posters complete. They just don't look right without all 3 of the posters. I would greatly appreciate any help with this hunt.”

Slave 1 Error or Intentional?
For those of you who will be picking up the Exclusive Slave 1 with Boba Fett action figure at Target will want to know this. I purchased the toy at one of my local Targets Stores (Plainfield, IN.). After I assembled the wings and placed the missiles in the ship I noticed that my Boba Fett action figure was missing his backpack missile. I searched for it all over the area where I opened my toy. Discouraged I went back to Target to double check to see if Boba Fett did have a rocket in his backpack. The answer is a solid NO. Boba Fett that comes with the Slave 1 from Target DOES NOT come with a missile for his backpack. Happy Hunting.

Force of the Bay: The Real Deal
Hey Troopers, with the release of the DVD and the OTC collection slowing down, I decided to see what was happening at ebay. There is always something funky you could pick up. You may just find that nice little thing to light up your life. There are so many things to choose from, and while I have been writing Force of the Bay for quite some time, I can always find something rare and unique. You can find any figure on any card, or any variation that has eluded your collection so far. If you are not very good with your hands, but still seek a good looking costume, look no further. You could even replace your favorite pair of Star Wars underwear. Hopefully they are still MIMB! There is whatever you are looking for to ring your bell, but sometimes that includes a hefty price. There are so many great things, some inexpensive or others that are very expensive, but it is all there. You could even find a rarity to make you sick. You just have to take the time to look for it. Sandtroopers.com neither endorses or authenticates any of the sellers or items featured here. Make sure you read up on who you are buying from and if it sounds to good to be true, chances are it is! Good luck to you great Sandtroopers in your searches. Kick A$% and take names!

S.C.A.L.P. Costal Defender“Hey Troops, Donna from So Cal. Not much to report from the West Coast. Thought all the stores were holding stuff back until the release of the DVD but I thought wrong. My local Wal-marts still have not put out any displays. Purchased the DVD set at Wal-mart after work on Tuesday but was only able to get the Stars Wars figure set. Sandtrooper SoCal Rod Reports:
“Did my weekly toy run around Southern Cali with mixed results today. It really seems the massive influx of figures and Star Wars stuff I had so hopefully predicted around the release of the DVD never materialized. Toys R Us Moreno Valley was my first stop and resulted in nothing. It seems TRU only put out old warehouse figure stock hoping to move it along with the 2 for $7.00 sale going on. Target Moreno Valley had a few oddball figures, but nothing even a Jawa would find worth scrounging through. The three Wal-Mart?s I hit produced equal amounts of nothing. As a matter of fact one Wal-Mart (Hemet) had zero figures on the pegs. I assumed they must have had a huge Star Wars display on an endcap or in the aisle. After a thorough search I gave up and moved along to the next local. K-mart in my neck of the woods has slowly been showing signs of life when it comes to Star Wars. They were the first kids on the block to get the 12-inch VOTC, and they provided me with the Cantina exclusive set. Although today they would have only a few old sets of Galactic Heroes, a 12-inch VOTC Luke, some old figs, and not much else. Lastly, to complete my day I went to Sams Club to buy the Millennium Falcon with the Pack-in Falcon crew. They had probably 30-40 on hand so I was able to get one in good condition. Pretty nice piece, but pretty pricey at $60 and some change. Did make one more stop at Costco looking for the X-wing/Tie Fighter 2-pack, but no sign of it as yet.”

    Sandtrooper SoCal Dom Reports:
One of SoCal's Finest!“Been awhile since I put my two cents worth of information about figs, but unfortunately, I haven't even been able to find a figure worthy of spending that amount! So far in the depths of the Inland Empire of So Cal, I have not been as fortunate as So Cali Rod with the Slave 1, but I have seen the Cloud Car Pilot waves, Unleashed Bossk wave (only one in good enough condition to buy was the Tusken Raider,) and the Endor ambush packs, which I don't even collect. I was fortunate on Tuesday, however, to pick up both my Trilogy DVD and my Star Wars Battlefront game for $36.99 each at Fry's near Mission Valley in San Diego. I had to have a family member who lives down there pick them up for me. I figured I saved about $15-$20 between the 2 of them. The Wal-Mart?s that had their figure displays only showcased VOTC figs, and the others added new cases of the last few waves of the Saga figs. Hoping others can come to my aid. I am in need of every figure after #22 except for the Snowtrooper #25. Not much has been released out here. I am also looking for MOMC Aayla & Bossk Unleashed figs, as well as the new Slave 1 MIMB. I have extras of the Cloud Car Pilot, Bespin Leia, Lobot, & Scout trooper to trade or sell. Email me if I can help or if you can help me. Hope everyone is finding what they need out there.”

    Sandtrooper Jon Reports:
“I love the OTC collection. Yes, many of the figures have already been released, but a good number of those have significantly more realistic paint. Plus the packages with the new backdrops are just awesome. I personally think the new packaging alone is worth an extra $5 even if I already have the figure. Maybe Hasbro has suckered me into spending some extra money, but they have made many awesome figures over the past year and now finally some awesome packaging as well. I started collecting Star Wars again in 1996, and this is the most excited that I have been over new products. The OTC and VOTC lines really make me feel like a kid again. I hope the new vintage style cards and boxes continue. Thanks Hasbro.”

Sandtrooper and New Forum Moderator Jetfire Reports:
DEEP Recon in the Great Lakes State!“Well troops, it's good to hear that the new stuff is showing up all over the country, but it still hasn't really shown up here. While I've been concentrating on keeping my eyes open for the new Slave-1 and Y-wing, I've also been checking out the figs on the pegs. Target seems to continue to play catch up to the rest of the stores. Meijers were all down to nothing, but had a sudden surge of figs last week. Overall, I'm contributing that to the DVD set going on sale. Now they've got the Tusken Raider, dual Jawas, TIE fighter pilot, and others next to the Millennium Falcons and Master Replicas FX lightsabers (those are way cool!) If you haven't heard by now, go check out the sale prices at Meijers, as this is the last day. While Wal-Mart has gotten the figure cases in, they haven't had much else. Only once did I see an IG-88 and TIE fighter pilot on the pegs. They also have more than enough of the Galactic Heroes sets in! TRU has been doing OK with keeping figures on the pegs and I was excited to finally see the Galactic Heroes Jango Fett. Still no Y-wing though. Was also wondering how everyone felt about the stores hording the figures until the DVD release. I don't know about the rest of the troops, but only TRU seemed to have anything much on the pegs for the two weeks before the release. If you've got an opinion to share, visit to the forums and voice it. And if anyone has a Luke Skywalker (blue) Master Replicas FX lightsaber or Millennium Falcon to trade hit me up! Trooper Jetfire OUT!”

Hey Troops, we have updated our Images Section with figures #29-#37 from the Original Trilogy Collection. Some of these are probably due for a rehash but others were released not even 6 months ago. OTC figures are about to wrap up but the question remains, how many collectors were ticked off enough to quit? We also added photos of the Exclusive Battlefront Scout Trooper. Was a figure with the weapons glued to the hand and boot worth all this fuss? Let us know at news@sandtroopers.com. We are dying to hear what some of you are thinking. Begin Today. Target (Gurnee, IL): “had Bespin wave figs. They also had a VOTC Lando & a VOTC Vader. I picked up the Lando but left Vader because the card wasn't mint. Every time I see the VOTC ANH Luke or the VOTC ESB figs, the cards inside aren't mint. Anyone else notice this?

Kmart (Zion, IL): “had the OTC Bespin wave figs & Galactic Heroes 2-packs.

Target (Waukegan, IL): “had the OTC Dagobah wave figs & Unleashed Bossk wave.”

Trooper Sajfam with a Wausau WI report:
Stopped at Target tonight, they had the OTC Bespin Wave and ROTJ Vintage wave. Picked up Boba (awesome), R2, Chewy and Stormtrooper. They also had vintage Darth and Lando. They also had unleased Bossk and Aayla Secura. K-mart has a bunch of boxes by the Star Wars pegs waiting to be unpacked. I noticed a box of Vintage figs and opened them up. It was TESB wave of Vader, Yoda, Lando and C-3PO. Also in the box were Luke, Leia and maybe a Ben. I left this box alone as I was able to score these figs last weekend in Southern WI. Good hunting.

Great news, it looks like the new stuff is starting to hit our neck of the woods. Thanks for the report!

Sandtrooper Habs 98 Reports: More Aftermath from the Blast!
“Hey Troops! It was a nice surprise to see I received my Sandblast prize today. The figure is one I was hoping to get a hold of at Celebration III (if Carrie is there) but now I don't have to wait. Poster is cool too. Just want to add I think you guys are doing a great job here. I've traded with a few people and Rob (WedgeWannaBe) went out of his way a couple times for me. Nice to see him as a MOD. Anyway thanks again and I'm sure I will see all of you at Celebration III.”

Thanks for the kind words and again the prizes were the least we could do for the fans helping us celebrate four great years! The posters were free at the Expo a couple weeks back, United We Find!

Star Wars artist Dave Dorman in trouble!
Hey troops! LONG time no post (from me that is)! I just got this news in from friends of Dave Dorman. As you may know he is probably one the best best Star Wars painters out there and a HUGE Star Wars fan. Anyway, his home was badly damaged from Hurricane Ivan, here is the story:

"FLORIDA PANHANDLE? All of the light sabers on George Lucas? planet Tattoine couldn?t defend #1 Star Wars Artist Dave Dorman from the devastation his home incurred from Hurricane Ivan this past Thursday. Luckily, Dorman, a longtime friend and supporter to illustrator colleagues worldwide, is getting by with a little help from his friends. Business partner Steve Smith has launched a philanthropic Web site, Dave Dorman relief where illustrators / donations can donate their works to help defray the costs of the extensive damage to Dorman?s Florida Panhandle home.

At 2 a.m. on September 16, 2004 , a tornado clipped the roof of Dorman?s home, causing extensive water damage to the interior. Although Dorman?s art studio and oil paintings were not affected, the home is largely uninhabitable, and Dorman?s wife is eight-and-a-half months pregnant. ?I am humbled and overwhelmed by the kindnesses shown to me by my illustrator friends, many of whom I?ve never had the pleasure of meeting in person,? Dorman said. ?I hope to repay them someday, somehow.?

    Sandtrooper Cpl. Mike Reports:
“Hey troops, long time no post, sorry. I got the DVD set at Target in Munster, IN yesterday for $44.99. The Return of Darth Vader feature is cool, and I liked that just little green screen footage was shown to make me want more. I also checked out the toy dept. and not a thing in sight, all OTC repacks, maybe 10 figs, and sabers, same stuff from last time I checked, I thought for sure the pegs would be full for the DVD release, I?m totally behind on any newer figs, I did score the Vader TIE about a month ago, and I really dig it. Cal City Toys R Us is empty too; no Y-wing, and the DVDs are $49.99. Hope this helps you Indiana troops out. Semper FI!”

    Sandtrooper Songwrtr Reports: Sandblast Aftermath!
Like always Sandtroopers come through!“Hey, Troops! The Kenner photo arrived today from Cloud City. Cool shot of an X-Wing chasing a TIE fighter (which is about 1/2 in the photo) in the shadow of the first Death Star. Thanks so much for the great prize! As always, Sandtroopers comes through. This'll be a super addition to the Star Wars room once I start assembling it. Also, was happy to learn that the Wal-Mart DVD figure sets are available on their website. Sure, there's a roughly $8 shipping charge for the set of 3, but I figure I probably spent twice that on gas last night looking for them! Now if I could just track down those carrying cases.”

    Sandtrooper Southern Cali-Rod Reports:
“Made a big toy run today. Hit Wally World in Hemet at 7 a.m. as the first and only person in line for the trilogy DVD. Scored the DVD and all three exclusive figure 3-packs. Was able to use my CompUSA ad for the price match price of $39.99. Found the new Slave I at Target in Moreno Valley. Had the pick of the liter as all six were still on the shelf. Beware of shelf wear on this piece as it is going to be a toughy to find dent free with the window exposed on the top and bottom. Checked Costco in Moreno Valley, but no sign of the Tie Fighter/X-wing 2-pack. Did notice that the Wal-Mart in Moreno Valley had the Trilogy DVD for $39.94. That was $5.00 cheaper then the Wal-Mart 15 miles down the road in Hemet. Picked up my copy of Battlefront and my C-10 Scout Trooper. Played a little of the game. So far so good.”

    Repost: DVD Midnight Madness-Photos Added!
It was quite an interesting night at the Best Buy store in downtown Chicago where over 500 people turned out to purchase the new Trilogy on DVD. A Best Buy employee told me that the line started forming at 3 pm yesterday! The Midwest Garrison was on hand to help with crowd control, making sure everyone would 'move along'. Local ABC News covered the event as well as Q101 Radio, which handed out some pretty nice prize packages. We have set up the photo gallery for those of you who couldn't make it out to the Windy City. Overall a pretty exciting atmosphere for the first night of the release of the DVD. Chicago was one of the six places in the country that was officially sponsored by Lucasfilm, and whether it was Battlefront or the Trilogy DVD's, it was quite evident there was no shortage of fans at the Midnight hour.

Sandtrooper One Big K Reports: What it's all about...
S.C.A.L.P. Demolition Expert, Columbus,OH“Would like to thank fellow Ohio Trooper BIGJP for hooking me up with not only a handstand Luke but the first Kmart cantina scene as well. I was able to help him, by trading VOTC Vader, Luke and Yoda. Together we can find all toys we want. Check out my wants and haves in the Forum - maybe we can help each other. Found all 3 Commemorative trilogy DVD collection figures at the Morse Rd Wal-Mart. None at the Lewis center store. No Falcon with figures at Sams club yet. Finding most of the OTC figures 1-28 on a regular basis at Mejier and Wal-Mart. Still not finding 29-38 or the VOTC Fett, C-3P0, R2-D2, Lando, Chewbacca and Stormtrooper.”

Sandtrooper Songwrtr Reports: More DVD News!
“Just got back from a pre-DVD toy run to various points, mainly hoping to find the Wal-Mart 3 packs. No luck on those or the Vader or C3P0 carry cases at any of the three I stopped at (Painted Post, Big Flats, and Watkins Glen, NY). I spoke with someone at Watkins Glen who said that they haven't had the carry cases yet. Painted Post and Watkins Glen (which are both Super Wal-Mart?s) had the large Lego display out and each had a small number of early OTC and Saga figures, lightsabers, and the first three VOTCs. Big Flats (a regular sized store) had the Millennium Falcon/VOTC display out (all Leia/Han/Ben) and some Saga carded figures and lightsabers. I did catch the DVD display going out at Watkins Glen but they hadn't posted a price yet. Otherwise, Big Flats Sam's Club had a full display of the Millennium Falcon bonus packs. I think these are going to be tough to find in mint boxes, much like the Falcon itself. Every one that I looked at was dented, including the one I ended up picking (and I think I ended up with one of the worst ones in the place, but I walked in 5 minutes before closing so couldn't really spend much time). TRU in Big Flats had the Endor Ambush set and I also took advantage of the sale on the OTC vehicles to pick up one of each to open. They have the first batch of VOTC and a bunch of Saga, plus all sorts of odds and ends that I'm forgetting at the moment. Time to run . . . gotta make an early trip to Gamestop tomorrow to pick up the Battlefront Scout Trooper!”

The Pride of Boise, Idaho!“Well Troops- Tonight at midnight many stores will have the Trilogy available. FINALLY! Hastings Books and Music in many states is having a midnight sale with a free numbered Lithograph with purchase of the Trilogy. The best price will no doubt be Wal-Mart. A Wal-Mart manager told me today they would beat any advertised price by 5%. The lowest price I have seen thus far is Comp USA at $39.99. Take that ad to Wal-Mart, and at least get it matched, as Wal-Mart often does not have the same prices and specials from store to store. So hit Wal-Mart with an ad, and maybe you will get another 5% off.”

Images Reloaded: VOTC Lando and C-3P0 added to Gallery!
The ProfessorThe 2004 Images section has been updated with Vintage Style Lando Calrissian and C-3P0. Both figures are a compliment anybody's collection. These figures are really and example of what Hasbro should do next. Why not simply remake all of the Vintage figures in this style? I think it would be a great thing. It would also help the problem of having to buy stuff you already own! While I wasn't too impressed with the Professor, the old smoothie was done quite nicely this time around!

    Sandtrooper SoCal Dood Reports:
Be good to each other.“Greetings from an overcast, but will be sunny in the afternoon SoCal! Had to drop by the K-Mart in West Covina to pick up a CC Pilot for a fellow Trooper and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw about 12 OTC Cantina packs on the shelf. I thought these things were hard to find? Anyhoo, they still had a bunch of the wave 2 Galactic Heroes on the pegs with few other OTC figs including Wicket, Leia, Obi and CC Pilot. I still have an extra OTC Vader and Stormie if anyone is interested, if not, they will be returned. That's all for now and remember to play nice with each other. Peace out!”

Interviews from Chicagoland Expo Posted: Fun with Friends from Jabba's Palace!
Hey Troops, we have more Exclusive Interviews from this past weekends Chicagoland Entertainment Expo. It was pure delight to sit down with Dalyn Chew (Lyn Me one of Jabba?s Dancers) as well as Gerald Home (Tessek/Squidhead). I found their experience filming Return of the Jedi quite entertaining. I have only one more interview from last weekend that I did with my childhood hero, Boba Fett! Mr. Bulloch had quite a bit to say about the past, present and future of the Star Wars Saga. Thanks again to Dalyn and Gerald for taking the time to sit down with me and share their stories with our readers.

    Trooper Eric Reports: Feelin' Gouged!
“Does anyone remember how much the Holiday Yoda was last year? Doesn't $17.99 seem a bit hefty for the 2004 Holiday Jawas from Entertainment Earth? Were the others this expensive in years past? Feeling Gouged, Eric.”

    ejhalsted@sbcglobal.net

Yes, I think the price is a few dollars more than the previous two sets. The others sold for $14 and some change I believe.

Area Report: Left for Dead, Comin' Right Back at 'Cha!
Sandtrooper Commander: Darth Spice-I'm gonna drink a couple dozen beers, I go out and jam some gears!Hey Troops, I must say it?s been quite a while since my last area report but I haven?t had much time to hit up stores of late. The Target stores in my area have all been flooded with OTC figures and no surprise to find plenty of #7 Han Solo cluttering up the pegs. VOTC Lando and C-3P0 are starting to trickle in here and there and the OTC ships have been warming up the shelves a little bit too. I did pick up the handstand variant of Luke Dagobah and ran into the new Unleashed figures as well. The Tusken almost had me, but I was forced to wait a while on that. Work has kept me from seeing any of the Wal-Mart displays, and the scalping slime balls that live at the stores would be sure to damage what they could not have. I had a great time with fellow staffers and friends at the Expo this past weekend, I?d say I had a better time at this event vs. Wizard World Chicago. A better Star Wars group doing signings and at a smaller show these people were much more approachable to anyone. I?m looking forward to scoring the Figure cases for my sons 10th birthday coming up in a couple weeks. I remember jamming so many figures into the old Darth Vader case. You?d double and triple them up in the slots and there was never enough room. I dare the little guys to try to cram theirs into these latest incarnations of retro! I hope you Troopers are having better luck getting out than me, I can only pray for Winter at this point! Take names and have no mercy. United We Find!

    Sandtroopette Lisette Reports:
S.C.A.L.P. Counter Intelligence“Hi Troopers: Lisette from NYC reporting. The TRU in Union Square had the new Unleashed figures: Tusken Raider, Bossk and Aayla. The new Target in Brooklyn still had the same VOTC figures I saw a couple of days ago: Han, Obi-Wan, Leia, Luke, Vader and Yoda. For those of you who collect the Justice League figures, this Target also had a couple of the Ultra-Humanite figures as well as Wonder Woman. That's all for now.”

Kmart has nothing new still hanging onto the cantina bar scenes, 12-inch Boba (gray) Fett, Luke, Stormtrooper, and ask Yoda. Sandtrooper Starfox Reports: No Gnewz IS Good Gnews!
Bleeds Armor“No Gnews is good gnews is what Gary Gnew use to say, but that statement is wrong! Central Texas is dry, dry, dry! The only new info I have is that TRU in Killeen has a special area set up for Star Wars by the front door when you enter the store. They had this morning VOTC Vader, Yoda, Luke, Han, Ben & Leia in multiples. Also available were plenty of Millennium Falcons, X-Wings, TIE's, 12-inch Saga figs, Endor Ambush set and an old favorite, the talking Vader bank from '96(repackaged of course) but still a very cool item! Target has nothing but an few Unleashed Bossks & Tusken Raiders. Wal-Mart broke down there floor display and I did not get one of the side panels that was promised to me, I think it's in the light bulb now! (Don?t ask). KBToys has not received the Ephant Mon that everyone has been speaking about; we still have pegs full of over 50 Nute Gunrays choking out the pegs! And Kmart has not received anything in while and the pegs are bare except for a lone Gen Dodonna & a VOTC Solo. That's all from Central Texas, Starfox signing out...”

Holiday JawasHasbro recently unveiled the newest holiday figures that will be shipping this December. The Holiday 2004 Edition figure set will include two Jawas (from the POTF days). The little windows on their heads are now green and red, instead of the yellow window that would normally be in its place. I already pre-ordered this through Entertainment Earth, so my holiday sets will become complete once again. Be sure to talk about this in our forums.

Update from Expo: More Photos and Exclusive Interviews!
Hey Troops, we have added more photos from the Chicagoland Entertainment Expo. I also have finished transcribing the interviews with Mike Edmonds (Logray the Ewok) and Felix Silla (Flying Ewok). I was long on questions and both of the gentlemen were very friendly with their answers. If you were around a convention with either appearing I?d highly recommend stopping by their tables for a chat. It was quite interesting to hear about their tales from Return of the Jedi. Stay tuned in this week for interviews with Dalyn Chew (Lyn Me-Jabba?s Dancer), Gerald Home (Tessek) and hopefully this weekend my extensive interview with Jeremy Bulloch and for those of you who don?t know who he is should just click away. We really had a great time and this event and did some expanded surveillance on this show for those of you who couldn?t make it out to the Chi-town area this past weekend. The show wrapped up yesterday and while the final tally wasn?t in just yet, I was told we made quite a difference for the Treasure Chest Foundation. I?m told between the Charity Breakfast and the sale of the Promo Cards that were limited to 500, we helped raise upwards of five thousand dollars for the children at Treasure Chest Foundation! Special thanks to all who came out and made contributions to such a worth cause. Another special thanks to all of the actors for signing the card free for the $5 donation to the Foundation. We will have scans of the card on the page tomorrow and I have a couple extra for anyone who would like. Please drop me a line if interested. It was a great weekend of ?Unity? and it was a great thing to be a part of and an honor to help out. Helping people is what this website was founded on, we thank each and everyone of you for your continued support of our mission.

S.C.A.L.P. Costal Defender“Hey Troops, Donna from So Cal. Finds for this past week. TRU has the new Endor exclusive and the 12-inch VOTC figs including the grey Boba. I have not seen a blue one here yet. K-mart has received the 2nd wave of galactic heros but I was only able to find 4 sets of Yoda/Trooper. At Target, I was able to score the latest Unleashed figs with Bossk, the basic OTC Snowtrooper, which I have not found previously, and the vintage Lando. Wal-mart in my area do not have the displays set up yet and it looks like they are taking inventory first. Hopefully they will have these displays up for the Sept. 21 DVD release. The Pride of Boise, Idaho!“Greetings Troops from the Northern rim territories! It seems that one of two things is happening. The first, the most likely, is that stores are not getting in much new product ANYWHERE... the second, and the one we should be hopeful about, is that maybe, just maybe, the stores are holding the new stock to make sure they are fully stocked for the DVD release coming to a galaxy near you in a little more than a week. Can you believe it? Also speaking of DVDS, there is an in depth review of the DVDs at www.thedigitalbits.com. It outlines the changes, and updates to the trilogy, as well as info on how to access some Easter eggs, like outtakes. Check it out. You won't be disappointed. The review is on the main page of the site. Good luck on the hunt! Also I have a C-9 or better POTJ Tie Bomber available for cost plus shipping. Cost was 28 bucks. Let me know!”

Update from the Chicagoland Collectors Expo: Photo Galleries LIVE!
Hey Troopers, Let me begin by thanking everyone who came out yesterday morning to the Ramada Plaza O'Hare for the Charity Breakfast. Paul and Dianne Maiellaro are great people and we really enjoyed being a co-sponsor for this event. Special thanks to Federation Toys for the wonderful prizes, including finding a Custom Carded Tonika Twin to complete giving every celeb their own figure. We would also like to thank Dean from DG Promotions for the idea of the breakfast itself. You can't get too much for $15 dollars these days and it was nice to help out the people at the Treasure Chest Foundation. Colleen Kisel delivered a great speech at the event and reminded us why we were all there. Collen said it was a great day for her foundation. I was also told we generated a decent amount of money for the charity. Big thanks to all the celebrities and the 501st Midwest Garrison for their help at the event. I hope to have the interviews with the other five Star Wars guests in the very near future!

Through the darkness of the night, the rescue workers have fanned out in long lines and incessantly move the buckets filled with debris hand to hand from one person to another.

Chicagoland Entertainment Expo Update: Interviews Now Live
The S.C.A.L.P. Crack Commando Team have put together transcripts from my meeting the other night. All three interviews are now live with Tim Dry (J'Quille), Christine Hewett (Tonika Twin) and Sean Crawford (Yakface) or Yakky as he likes to call himself. It was a pleasure to hear the perspective of someone who actually took part in the films, I think many of you will enjoy the first taste of our coverage from the Chicagoland Entertainment Expo this weekend. Who were Tik and Tok? How did Hasbro offend the bubble-pipe smoking Tonika Twin? These were some of my questions, check out some of the answers. Stay tuned later today for a report from the Charity Breakfast and the Expo as well.

Anyone have a 12-inch Plo Koon?“Howdy Troops, Just a quick note to tell you that I spotted the Endor ambush pack at the local TRU in East Central Whiskey. It's retro packed and as lame as the other 4-packs (Skirmish at Carkoon and Jedi Knights) since all the figs are re-packs. I thought it wasn't supposed to be out till September 15. What up widdat? Jedi Dom out.”

Sandtrooper Dead Man Inc.: Reporting In!
Original Trilogy DVD"I went by the local Sun Coast video store, and saw the Star Wars poster for the up coming DVD set. I thought I was seeing things, so I went to Wal-Mart, and looked at their Star Wars DVD poster, and I saw the same interesting design (intentional flaw?). Han Solo has long hair! If you look at the designs on the DVD sets, Han Solo has long hair draped along his left shoulder."

Star Wars: Vintage OTC 12-inch Boba Fett, Stormtrooper and Luke Skywalker are all in stock for $33.99 to $35.99. We have restocked a variety of Unleashed figures from Wave 7 to Wave 10 in small quantities after completing an inventory count. More OTC basic figures have arrived and we've cut prices on many of them to $4.99 or $5.99 - so a great time to pick up a variety of cool OTC figures at a low price!

Transformers: Desert Hound & MORE: The latest exclusive re-paint figure has arrived and is available for $49.99! Desert Hound is a Decepticon and is a tan repaint of re-issue Hound - both the figure and the weapons are painted as though they have sand & dirt in the cracks and recessed areas so it has a real world dirty look to it. This will likely be the only shipment of these we will receive and these exclusives always go quickly. Other Transformer items in stock are the Japanese Beast Wars D-25 Cyber-Wolfang, Clampdown and Deepcover repaints, Hard Hero Rhinox Statue.

Lord of the Rings: Another shipment of the Fellowship Wave 3 assortment has arrived to us. Sets of 5 figures including: Moria Orc Archer, 111th Birthday Celebration Bilbo, Gil-Galad, Elrond of Rivendell and King Elendil is available for $39.99. Elrond and King Elendil are also available singly for $7.99. We have restocked in small quantities a variety of other LotR items after completing an inventory count in our warehouse.

Sideshow: Terminatrix Head: The awesome 1:1 scale Terminatrix chromed Skull with flashing blue electronic lights is now available for $449.99 - which is $50 below the MSRP! Also in stock from Sideshow is the Boris Karloff Mummy figure and General Nathan Bedford Forrest from the Brotherhood of Arms line - $36.99 each.

Imported Kubricks-Marvel Series 3: The latest wave of Marvel Kubricks from Medicom includes Carnage, Spiderman Black Costume, Magneto, Human Torch, Juggernaut, Jean Grey and Daredevil. They are available in boxes of 24, which will guarantee you the full set with duplicates. I'm not sure if there is any chase figures in this wave, but all our boxes are sealed/unsearched so you have a 1 in 4 chance of receiving possible chase cases - if you buy 4 boxes we will send you a sealed master case to guarantee any possible chase figures.

Also this week: McFarlane, Palisades, Import Gundam Models and Action Figures, and much, MUCH more!

DVD Menu Maker Extraordinaire... Van Ling
DVD Menu Maker Extraordinaire... Van LingSeveral tasks are at hand when making a new DVD, and designing the menus for the upcoming Original Trilogy DVD set was no easy task. Van Ling, who produced the menus in The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones DVD sets, was hired to do the same line of work for the Original Trilogy set. To Ling it was "a much greater challenge on the original trilogy than the prequels," because "you have to do a lot of archeology."

    Unleashed Figures, Wave 4
Unleashed, Wave 4Well, this isn't exactly breaking news or anything, but Hasbro had recently announced the 4th wave of Unleashed figures, and these new figures include Aurra Sing, IG-88 and a Stormtrooper. Granted, most of us have known that these figures were coming down the pipe, but to be honest with you I'm not as excited about this wave of Unleashed figures as I thought I would be.

Don't get me wrong, Aurra Sing looks great in her Unleashed pose, but we only saw her for a few seconds in The Phantom Menace. Is she worthy of making a presence so soon in the Unleashed lineup? I'm not so sure about that. Now on to IG-88. The detail that was done for him is superb, and he looks like he's about to take on the entire Galaxy all by himself. His pose, however, could have been improved, so that he doesn't look like he's falling backwards. And why would Hasbro make an Unleashed Stormtrooper? I love Stormtroopers and any other soldier who is loyal to the Empire, but there's not much you can do to make a Stormtrooper look like he's "Unleashed." Nonetheless, I am looking forward to adding these figures to my Unleashed collection.

Read more about the announcement made by Hasbro here, and be sure to talk about these new Unleashed figures in our forums.

    Sandtrooper Master Fett Reports:
West Coast Finds: Today I scored a VOTC Yoda and Vader at Wal-Mart. When I left there was one Yoda, three Vaders. At Fred Meyer they just got the Unleashed figs in Leia, Aayla, and Obi-Wan. I picked up a Leia and passed on the Aayla because I didn't like the pose, thought it should have been more of a kick but instead of graceful looking. Kmart had a case of OTC basic Lobot, Stormtrooper, Leia and Han. Hope this helps out collectors in the area.”

Force of the Bay: No Sellouts Required...the Kid Gloves are Off
I find a great way to relax on Labor Day is to enjoy the miles of listings that infest ebay. For any Star Wars collector any trip can be a trip to the candy store. The fact anybody can write hard to find in a listing is flat out ridiculous. I have found thousands of some of the earliest exclusives. The prices vary but they are usually in an affordable range. There are the things that have taken a few licks, but for the most part are a decent buy. For those of you looking to suit up, I have found a pair of devastating weapons for those of us who like to get dirty! While I have yet to be ripped off maybe we can help out a guy who did, and reap the rewards of his misfortune. There are modern rarities that are quite plentiful as Sandtrooper Jetfire showed me this week. However, I like to stick to the vintage era. It must be the kid that lives deep inside each and every one of us. So no matter if it?s a vintage production sample, a complete planet killer, or simply a nice spread. It is all within your reach on the bay. Make sure you check the sellers other items on the Y-Wing, very impressive. From the tiniest parts that you think you?ll never re-acquire to perhaps some of the most high dollar pieces in the hobby. You?ll find it all and then some. Sandtroopers.com neither endorses or authenticates any of the items featured here. Good luck to you great Troopers on your searches. Kick A$% and take names!

    Kane County Flea Market
Today was the first weekend of the month, and that meant the Kane County Fairgrounds (in Illinois) was hosting it's monthly flea market. My wife and I decided to head out over there to see if there would be anything to get for ourselves, so we saddled up the Dewback and made our way out to St. Charles. Once we got there we realized the place was bumpin' and thumpin' with all sorts of activity. Unfortunately after walking around for a couple hours, we ended up buying only one small thing which wasn't even Star Wars related. It turned out to be a total bust, but we had gotten some good sun and exercise since we walked around for so long. Hopefully we'll have better luck next month when the Toy Show comes to town.

Sandwatch Action Figure Reviews: Stormtrooper & Wicket, I know Just where We'll Stick It!
Hey Troops, Sandwatch Action Figure Reviews have been updated with figures #16 & #17 from the OTC collection. What is wrong with another Stormtrooper? Why do we only get one Ewok? While they finally did something right, it took them nearly ten figures to produce something that may have some slight worth. There are worse things they could stick you with, oh wait they already did! This is how it felt when they switched from Green Card Hologram to Freeze Frame. When will it end? Feel free to offer your own feedback about the OTC collection. Until then enter if you dare!

Sandtroopette Lisette Reports: From the Heart of NYC!
S.C.A.L.P. Counter Intelligence“Hi Troopers: Lisette from NYC reporting. The same figures I reported a few days ago are still available at the Brooklyn Target. The J'Quille wave was at the Union Square TRU. I was fortunate to find the exclusive cantina scene at the E. 8th St. Kmart. It was a good thing I didn't listen to the Kmart employee who informed me last week that it would be a couple of weeks before they got the cantina scene again. Well that's all for now.”

Sandtrooper General J Reports: Breakin' Rocks and Scalpers' Noses at the Quarry
“Hi Troops, here's a quick report from just west of Chicago. Target in the Quarry Shopping Center in Countryside (LaGrange), IL has gotten two of the more common cases of OTC over the past week with Lukes aplenty, but I did manage to snag another 'Kids in the Hall' Stormtrooper, and TMNT Utroms (Krang). This same store also has kept up stock on the twelve-inch OTCs, including Bobas and Stormies. Wal-Mart in the same plaza has loaded both barrels with 5 to 7 of each Unleashed Bossik (sic), Aayla and 'roid-ragin' Tusken, and three cases of VOTC including Vader, Yoda, and, echoing Jedimaster-C's comments, a lot of Lukes. Back up north, Toys 'R Us in Gurnee also got the Yoda wave of figures and continues to carry Jedi Council Scenes (1 and 2). Still waiting for the other shoe to drop as far as seeing display POPs set up whether at Wal-Marts or elsewhere. Fight the good fight Troops!”

“Ok, folks the time has come to part with the bulk of my remaining collection. Sandtrooper Dead Man Inc. Reports:
“Did a toy run today and finally bumped into VOTC in Southeastern Massachusetts. However, they are the same standard six: VOTC Vader, Yoda, Luke, Han, Ben, and Princess. Unfortunately, there were no other Empire Strikes Back figures.

On another note, Toys R Us had some other cool figures:
"Ask Me Yoda" - He looks very cool! Basic - OTCs #1-#10 Characters, Unleashed - Princess Leia and Yoda, I can't remember what they are called, but they had these small cartoonish type of Star Wars figures. VOTC - Tie Fighter, Vader's Saber, Vader's Tie Fighter, and Millennium. 12-inch figures include: Stormtrooper, Boba... Nothing very new!

Target: Glass sets (Ben Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker)
    VOTC - Ben and Han
    OTC - Luke, Han, R2-D2

Ebay: VOTC on ebay include: Han, Ben, Yoda, Vader, Princess, and Luke... But they are all costly. If you can buy them from StarWarsShop.com or an affiliate of Sandtroopers.com that would be the best bet. On ebay, there is an individual who is pre-selling his Star Wars VOTC shipments, but it is too good to be true. He or she has promised a few people that certain figures will be in his store by late August. Since the figures he promised have not come into his shop, his deals are all turning into negative feedback. Try to stay away from Ebay presales of VOTCs, for they are getting expensive. Take advantage of Sandtroopers.com's affiliates, for I got a good deal from one of their advertised shops. Don't get Ebay fooled, shop with knowledge.

Collectors Note: Comic Books; If you are into Vintage comic books, not Star Wars, but old style comic books, Toys R Us is selling a collector's set of 1960s-1980s comic books. They come in a set of five, and they look somewhat authentic. They cost about $5.00 a set, but they have the original comic code logo, and they have some age to them. They are a must Take a look! You will walk by them if you are not looking for them. They sit on an end case. Reminder: September 21, 2004 is coming very soon; so don't forget to reserve your copy of the Star Wars DVD set.”

    and more.
