Destiny's Way and Empire #2
Hey Troops, just thought I would remind you that the next NJO book, Star Wars: The New Jedi Order - Destiny's Way by Walter Jon Williams, is going to be released tomorrow. For those of you who have read Traitor, you know that this next book should be exciting based on the events occurring in the last novel. And if that isn't enough to get you reading enthusiasts excited, keep in mind that Dark Horse's Star Wars: Empire - Betrayal #2 is slated to come out on Wednesday. This should be an excting follow-up to issue #1 and we here at Sandtroopers are anxiously awaiting this one! Now keep in mind that this is Dark Horse, so just because they say it will be released on Wednesday doesn't mean it will be. They are notorious for releasing comics late. Regardless, if it isn't here Wednesday, it will be here soon. Check it out.

Deluxe Anakin/Nexu wave restocked!
Hey Troopers,
Just a quick report to tell all my fellow Canadain troopers out there to check their local Zellers stores for a restock of the Deluxe Anakin/Nexu wave. I found a case at the store in Orillia, Ontario and 2 cases back at home in North Bay. This is the one that contains the deluxe Mace w/red droid. I have an extra one of these plus a deluxe Anakin on tri-logo for anyone who needs them. I can also get the Nexu for someone if they want. Other than that, no re-stocks of the Target sets or any new figures. Walmart seems to be getting restocks of the Bespin and Endor waves though. I also stopped by a few TRU's while down south and found plenty of the Zam and R3-T7 preview figures still at full price. BTW, I saw the 25th Anniversary Speeder there and must say I'm not too impressed. I don't know what I was expecting but it's just not as cool as I thought it might be. Hopefully the X-wing will meet my expectations. Take care troopers.

Trooper Tim reports:
"Went to my KB today at lunch. What a find. They just got in 10 count them 10 new cases. Lets see, they had, Jango Pilot, Padme Pilot, Anakin Tatooine Attack, Darth Maul Sith Training, Clone trooper pilot, Ki Adi Mundi, Tusken Raider with Massiff, Watto, Lott Dod, and Teemto Pagalies. All in good numbers except the clone trooper and Jango Pilot there was only one case for this wave. I saw it at the last minute when I was checking out. Any one out there that needs any of these figs LMK. I will try to go back today after work. Until then MTFBWY."

Trooper Chicano Dom reports:
"I am looking to see if someone would be willing to respond to an abnormal request. I found a clean-shaven Endor Rebel Soldier today at my local KB store. However, the card has a large crease down the middle running along it's width, right above the bubble. As a collector of mint packaging, I was somewhat upset that I had the item, but not in the condition ideal to my standards. I bought it anyway thinking that maybe somebody, who opens their figures and does not care about packaging, had access to a mint one.

"My request is simple, yet hopeful - would anyone be willing to trade their mint packaged figure for the same figure that would be opened up anyways? If so, I will pay your shipping costs. Please email me if you would be interested in doing so. Thanks. Also, I have an extra SAGA Yoda that I am looking to trade or sell. I am looking for all the newest SAGA figures starting with the new Padme, Lott Dodd, Clonetrooper, etc. Let me know if interested before I take it back."

Trooper Jedi Master Eric reports:
"Hello Troopers, Not too much going on here in western NY. However, I have run across the new 12" figures several times now at both walmart and TRU in Niagara Falls. The TRU in Amherst had 3 12" Luke w/Tauntauns left as of yesterday. A very nice piece for only $59.99. I also have started seeing several of the Falcon Playskool sets at KB.

"Other than that it has been very slow and still no figures after #40, which brings me to my question: can anyone help me find the new figures? I need Padme Pilot and a few others. I have a few POTF2 figures MOC in star cases I could trade. I have OC wave 1, 2, and 3 minus yoda and fett. LMK and thanks again troops!!!!"

    Original Trilogy Bootleg DVD's
In response to Trooper AndyVW's statements about the Star Wars Trilogy DVD's being offered overseas and all over the web:

To my knowledge, there has not been an official release of the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD in any country, and these DVD's are most likely straight out bootlegs. I would exercise extreme caution in purchasing any questionable DVD's from sources you are not familiar with.

I did some checking, and while these DVD's bear "official-looking" copyright information on their packaging, note the fact that all three DVD's, Episode's IV, V, & VI, all have the Episode I tagline "Every Saga Has A Beginning" on the top of each package. They've also used artwork from a Revenge of the Jedi one-sheet as the cover art for their version of Empire. The bottom line here is why waste good money on substandard DVD's that are practically bare-bones and devoid of special features, when we all know that the "Ultimate Editions" will arrive in time?

If that still doesn't convince you that these are not the real deal, perhaps the fact that the same people selling these are also offering bare-bones DVD's of first-run features for prices as low as $10 US might make you question their reputation. Sounds like nothing but a cyberspace version of a downtown bootleg stand if you ask me. Buyer Beware!

Trooper Jedi Daxter reports (NEW FIGURES FOUND):
"Today I went to my local mall KB Toys store (Battlefield Mall in Springfield Missouri) and found only one Jango Fett Slave 1 Pilot and one Clone Trooper Republic Gunship Pilot. I got the Jango, a guy there got the Clone Pilot. I only had enough for one. Here's some other stock they had:

"2 Playskool Millenium Falcon, 2 Action Fleet X-Wing, 3 action fleet TIE X1, 2 Action Fleet Millenium Falcon, 2 unleashed Padme Arena, many Orn Free Taa's, 4 Sneak Preview R3-T7, many Super Battle droids w and w/o backgrounds, Anakin Peasant Disguise with background insert, 4 Djas Phur Bounty Hunters.

"Also a few Mace G.R, few Jango Kamino Escapes, 2 Sneak Preview Zam's, 1 Sneak Preview Jango Fett. The prices are $4.99, which is good for me. They also had a good stock of Slave 1 ships, Jedi Starfighters (and on clearance for $19.99), Starfighters with Obi-Wan with an odd price of $19.99. I asked an associate and said it was a wrong sticker. Oh well."

the Star Wars Special Edition DVDs for sale! Anybody know about these? They are sold overseas but there are retailers here in the states that sell them. If your DVD player plays NTSC region"all" ,which most of the good ones do I believe, it should work. They are in DTS sound and widescren format. I bought a set from d9movie.com for 34.88. Star Wars: Tales # 13 hit shelves this week
Hey Troops, just thought you might like a heads up. The latest issue of Tales hit stands yesterday. This issue is something special I have been excited about ever since I heard the announcement. It is all about Mace Windu. Other than Qui-Gon, Mace is pretty much my favorite Jedi of all-time. When he jumped off that balcony on Geonosis, took off his burning robe and still had time to deflect blaster bolts coming his way, all while in the air, I was floored! Now we have an entire issue of Tales devoted to Mace! I can't wait to read this. There are two cover versions available (standard with Tales), one with a photo cover and one with art. If you love Mace, the Jedi or even if you are convinced Mace is a Sith Lord in hiding, check this one out Troops. Look for my review next week.

Latest Review posted: Empire: Betrayal 1 of 4
    Vader - the unwitting pawn?

Hey Troops, as promised by Steve on Monday, he and I have read and reviewed the first issue of Empire: Betrayal, with a pictorial spread and full analysis on the review page.

If you are a fan of the Imperial point of view and like to root for the bad guys, this will be the series to read this Fall and Winter. And, if you haven't been into the Dark Horse Star Wars comics lately, then this will be the 'strip to really get you hooked. Get a look at what makes Vader tick, and watch as the Empire is nearly torn apart from the inside!

Check out our analysis and a ton of scans from the 'strip right here.

In a couple of weeks, Steve will take the helm, with both of us teaming up to do a review of Issue Two of Star Wars: Empire - Betrayal. That should be coming in early to mid-October. Check for the post.

Internet Headlines for Wednesday, September 25

  • It really looks like a 1977 Harrison Ford - Hasbro.StarWars.com presents the latest in a series of figure 2-pack exclusives. It is the new Death Star Trash Compactor segment and includes working bases. The detail on at least two of these figures looks truly excellent! And, if Speeder Bikes are your cup of tea, see yesterday's site update showcasing the upcoming Tyranus and Anakin speeders.

  • Geonosian with Boom Box - New Deluxe Geonosian Warrior with Sonic Blaster appears at Rebelscum. You get fifteen images at their Photo Archives and he includes a mini-ant hill that he can climb in and out of like a sleeping bag.

  • And that's not all... - R2N has the full set of the new Deluxe wave captured in their Visual Guides format - see Force-Flipping Anakin, Geonosian Warrior, and two pages devoted to Deluxe Clonetrooper (1, 2).

HELP! I called Disney Land Delivears and they ran out of the Star Tours figures. All I am asking for are the R2 units: R3-D3, R4-M9 and possibly the R5-D4. I would like to have 2 or 3 of each of these. I am very desperate. I am not driving 300 or 500000000000000000000000000 miles to find these things. I apologize for that but I am starting to get really distressed here. If anyone who lives near Disney land or Disney world in Florida can help me, I will appreciate it. I am ONLY going to pay cost, no Ebay prices. Thanks."

    cryan@ardmore.net

Chad, if you don't have luck through networking here, then eBay isn't a bad alternative since many Star Tours "Buy it Now" auctions have seen reasonable prices for these figures (usually no more than $15 each).

    Trooper Lex-Wan (Lightsaber Salesman) reports:
"Just in case there was someone else out there who also had that unanswered question just a prying at their brain: WHAT'S BEHIND THOSE DARN STICKERS?, well ol' Lex found out finally what was behind both of the confounded stickers on Zam's 12 inch fig he he he he now I know & can go on with my life, aaahhhhhhh (left-peeled, right-sticker).

"Also, I was at Ames today and they have marked down the toys to 40% off so that comes to $3.81 after tax for a AOTC fig I bought a Nikto today.

"I'm still finding some of the new Hasbro Heroes of Cybertron PVC Transformer figures too. I picked up Starscream (that bucket of scrap iron) today. It's very hard to get these from Walgreens since each store only gets a total of 3 each and I forgot that the one Walgreen gets their stuff on Thursday so I missed out there & happened to find Starscream at another store, They had one more Arcee too."

"Hey Troopers, its been a while since my last post, but I am really wanting to score the new interactive R2. I cant find one anywhere around St. Louis. BUT, if you are able to find one, and you are still in need of JORG SACUL, then let me know and maybe we can work out a trade. Peace..."

UPDATE: Brandon has obtained the new R2-D2 and poses this query:

Hey Troopers! I scored the interactive R2 unit, and I'm trying to figure out his so called "secret" features. If anyone knows what these may be, please let me know. Thanks!
    BobaFett227@aol.com

I researched this personally, but I think the answer will need to come from someone who actually owns this one. For now, I'll refer this to Trooper Lex-Wan. Please email Brandon and US here at Sandtroopers to unravel this mystery!

"Hey Troops! Arlington, Texas is the place to be for Accessory Packs. I found three out of four there tonight at the Target on south Cooper Street. There were still plenty left but no Arena with Battle Droids. I guess someone got their arena playset and is having a ball with it. Waco and Hillsboro have many Cantina Packs at Wal Mart (Even Greedo!) but no new figs. Anyway, off to do a late night toy run at the Wal Marts. Gotta get another Gunship. Adios!"

    Trooper JediDaxter reports:
"JediDaxter here, I called my local Toys R Us here in Springfield, Missouri and asked about the R2-D2.

"An associate told me that all stores will be receiving a HEALTHY SUPPLY, around 20,000. It will be part of a promo. The associate told me that one possibility is that you buy 4 or more action figures, or 2 12'' and get it free. He said it is still unknown, and may start around December. So, if every store got 20,000, and as an example 5,000 stores, that's one million figures. WOW!!! This will not be a repeat of the Silver Darth Vader, Praise the Lord!"

    JediDaxter@wmconnect.com"

Actual projected number produced will be closer to 100,000 total figures, which is still more than adequate. Each regional warehouse will be receiving around 18,000 R2-D2's. The only time Hasbro ever produced one million units of any product may have been the initial Episode I figures.

Latest review posted: Star Wars: Rite of Passage
Hey Troops, just wanted to let you know that my latest review is up on the review page. This one covers the 4 issue series Star Wars: Rite of Passage. This marks the end of the series being called Star Wars. Starting with issue #46 the series will be titled Star Wars: Republic. This series is a fitting conclusion to the old title and features many of the series' classic characters, plus some new villains are introduced. Check out my review.

Also, Jason and I are going to be teaming up to do a review of the new series, Star Wars: Empire. That should be coming later this week. Check for the post.

I was at Walmart in Niagara Falls yesterday and ran across all 3 of the new 12" figures. There was 2 of each, I picked up the Dooku (amazing figure) and left the others behind. Also, I saw the Acklay there for the first time ever!! There were several of them but still no sign of the Gunship. I would also like to thank all of those troopers out there who were able to help me with my card collection. I only need a few more cards to complete it. If anyone has the following, I would make it worth your while to hook a brother up. LMK and thanks.

"Hope all's well, this is trooper RMS (Roberto Miranda) saying hiiiiiii again. Just to let you know that KB of Plaza Las Americas has put their exclusive Jedi Starfighter w/Obi-Wan on shelves. So be on the look-out if you want one. They are priced down from $34.99 to $24.99 as they usually do in red ink. In my case, the gamble paid off because I never bought the first boxed version. Now I hope I can have the same luck with the Slave 1 ship. There's been no sign of a ship w/figure verion yet, but I'm holding on. In the meantime, TRU's are discounting the boxed vehicles. Slave 1 from $29.99 to $24.99 and the Starfighter from $24.99 to $19.99. It's not significantly lower, but it's sure better than regular!!!. Take care and best regards!!!"

    Force of the Bay
Spiceowan returning from the depths of E-Bay with the bad guy that started it all. I was puzzled when I saw these pieces from my past.I really don't recall getting any figures with my Darth Vader case , but this worth seeing. Where were these figure packs when I was looking for my vintage figures ? I dedcided to throw a neo classic wonder . She was very scarce and did not stay on the shelf long like other sculpts. E-Bay is a good tool to use to fill your collection. Beware and please read the listing completely before you bid , and most of all be careful. Sandtroopers or E-Bay does not guarantee the authenticity of these items. We also have another Power Sucka Inductee this guy kills me. Why a reserve do you think that is mink fur? No fur is worth that kinda headache. Good Luck out there Troops , you never know who is trying to stick it to you, Kick A*% and take names !

Trooper Lex-Wan reports (Silver R2-D2 Update):
I found out some news on the Silver R2 at TRU. The guy looked up the SKN # in the computer and saw how many were on order (this is the same TRU that looked up the Treehouse of Horror 3 Simpsons Playset that the region was only getting 1500 pieces in the first order), well the order was for 18,495 R2's.

That means there will probably be over 100,000 made of the R2. Now to explain when there making a boat load of these it's improbable to think you need to purchase the 99.99 R2 to get one of these as they're not making over 100,000 99.99 R2's for TRU, in fact they probably won't even make that for all the stores put together, and if every store on the first order alone gets almost 200 of these it's basically safe to say that the spokesperson for TRU was right when he said everyone who wants one of these is gonna get one.

Since TRU is probably paying the same for these or a dollar more per figure, they can't really rip off the customer too much. My true guess is that the R2's will be out some time in NOVEMBER & you will have to spend no more than $50 & no less than $25 to get him. I thinking back to all the other exclusives that they charge an arm & a leg for that's why I say $50. Then I think back to there other giveaways which they have always been very fare with, that's why I say 25.00, so it could go either way. Seeing the 'on order amount' with my own eyes and knowing what stores will get depending on the quantity this is the first concrete evidence on the R2 thus far."

    Trooper Chris reports:
A bit of news from Edmonton, Alberta Canada. I went to TRU on the northside and I found quite a bit of the Darth Maul and Jango/Boba Fett unleashed figures. There were some deluxe figures like Anakin and Nexu too. No sign of figures like Palpatine or Tatooine Attack Anakin. Been awhile since I've seen any 3.75" past the Qui-Gon and Jango Final Battle. There are a lot of Luke Landspeeders and the exclusive Mace Windu's.

Also, I need help from fellow troopers out there. I'm in real need of these figures: E1 TC-14, R2-B1, Sio Bibble, Queen Amidala Battle and Sidious Holograph. I would like these figures to be carded and in good shape. I'd appreciate ANY help!"

The Auburn, NY Walmart had some interesting merchandise: I found 5 CTC Vaders and EP1 R2 with rockets and some other EP1 figs, they too have lots of cantina sets. And, the Walmart in Seneca Falls, NY has cantina sets on clearance for 7 bucks a pop. WEIRD. Good luck it's out there. PS - If anyone has seen the target exclusive packs anywhere in NY could you let me know? Thanks!"

Hey gang, I spotted 2 Repbulic gunships at the Walmart in Waldorf, MD. Additionally, you can find the new wave of 12” action figures at the Kmart in Clinton, MD (I think these are better than the 1st – Dooku looks great and so does the Super Battle Droid).

I’m soon to clear out the rest of my collection. I still have about 30 POTF figs, along with most of the Ep1 figs (non rare) for sale. I’ll accept any reasonable offers. I also have a massive collection of loose figures and vehicles that I’m gonna be auctioning if I get no offers. This includes just about every vehicle and figure since POTF2 (including Skiff, Ywing, Han and Tauntaun all rare figs and variations). I also bought the first wave of EP2 figs and vehicles up to Teemto.

I want to get rid of things as a lot and not break up. Of course, if you live in the MD area you could pick it up. Again any reasonable offer will be accepted. Contact me at imel@comcast.net with questions and details.

Well, not much to report really but things here in the Enchanted Island are a bit frustrating. Walmart Super Center in Cayey (best place to find new suff) has Nothing, NADA, ZIP.... Just a Ton of Yodas, Dookus, Solos, and Geonosian warriors. So many warriors that you could build an army of them bigger than the one in the movie. So, I've seen collectors chatting in the isle from as far as Aguadilla, Ponce and Mayaguez. Save the gas people and go to the beach instead. I'll keep you all posted here. Star Wars: Rite of Passage hits stand early
Hey Troops, the final issue of Star Wars: Rite of Passage, issue #45, hit stands a week early. This series is scripted by John Ostrander, pencilled by Jan Duursema and inked by Ray Kryssing, with cover art by Jan Duursema and Dave McCaig. This ongoing series has brought us such characters as Quinlan Vos, Aayla Secura and Villie. I have had a lot of fun with the series, despite some of the stories not being as good as others. Overall, it has been fun, and I am looking forward to the metamorphosis of this series into Star Wars: Republic. The numbering for Republic will maintain the numbering from the Star Wars series, so the first issue will actually be numbered 46. Don't forget that we also have a new ongoing Star Wars series called Star Wars: Empire. Jason and I will be bringing something different to the review page for the Empire series. Keep your eyes open for it.

    Trooper Tim reports:
Hey Troops, I wanted to let you know I have an extra Bloody Hand Luke up for grabs. I scored two of them from my local KB, the guy who helped me had them in the back. I also picked up an extra Djas Puhr for those troops that can't find him. KB had a lot of Obi-Wan pilots and a couple of Tatooine Attack Anakins. They are supposed to get a new shipment in this week, maybe even today. The associate said it might be wave 7. We can only hope. keep the faith, MTFBWY.

Update: Bloody Luke is sold, Djas available.

    Trooper Drew reports:
I was at TRU St. Matthew's in Louisville, Kentucky this morning and I ran into and spoke with their Hasbro Representative. Here is some info I learned.

    1) He didn't know when and how much the spending limit was on the 25th anniversary R2 giveaway. I was surprised he didn't know more.

    2) He had a complete inventory of their Star Wars figs. They have nothing new. The latest shipment they have is the Vader Bespin Wave.

    3) He sent back half of their stock last week to make room for new figures. He said they have started shipping and should see our area soon, perhaps even this weekend (I'll believe it when I see it).

    4) Finally, he had 1 last case of POTJ that was not on the pegs. The case he had (which I have one of each, so I didn't buy any) are FX-7, Rebel Trooper, Imperial Officer, and Queen's Decoy. There were 2 or 3 of each, case fresh and perfect! Hurry if you want them.

He was really nice and spent a good amount of time answering my questions!

On another note, the Gunship, Wave III of the 12" and the Mace/Tyranus Wave of Unleashed have hit our area. But we haven't seen anything past Anakin/Maul for 4" figs, and those were found at our local Kohl's. I am really anxious for the new figs, especially Padme Pilot!

Target Packs and Clearance Sales in Canada!
    Hey Troopers,
My Zellers store in the north finally got in a case of the Target accessory packs. I picked up a set for myself and have an extra set for cost plus shipping. They were $17.17 CAN tax inc. each (almost $12 US). A little pricey compared to you guys in the US but atleast we got them and they are all mint on US cards. I also got an extra Hoth and Arena set for anyone missing those 2.
And Walmart up here is the place to be for clearance sales lately and I haven't forgotten you troops so here we go with the list. I have the following for sale at cost and shipping.
    1 Jedi Starfighter $10 CAN
    1 Slave 1 $15 CAN
1 of each Speeder $5 CAN each
    1 Reek $10 CAN
3 25th Swing to Freedom $2 CAN each
2 POTJ Ketwol, 2 Sabe, 1 Bespin Guard $2 CAN each
Add 15% for the Canadian government and multiply that total by 2/3rds and you'll get the US price. All in all we got some very good sales going on up here. There are also reports of other Walmarts in the Toronto area having the Unleashed figures for $7 CAN. They never even showed up at regular price but went straight to clearance! This happened with some EP 1 stuff too. Anyway, if anyone wants this stuff, LMK. Take care troops.

Warning - Be Aware of Klez Worm Virus!
Troops, the ugly and annoying Klez-Worm virus has been hitting hard once again. I have gotten a few "heads-ups" from readers and I myself have confirmed receiving this virus via e-mail over twenty times in the last five days! It comes most often from a prodigy email server. Here is what to know so you don't get infected:

    1. If you get an email that appears to be sent from "staff_member"@sandtroopers.com (insert one of the site staff member's names), delete it immediately! We do not operate on POP3 protocol, and while you can send e-mails to us at these addresses, we cannot send to you via the same handle.

    2. Whether you use an internet-based mail program via the web, or a program such as Microsoft Oulook, look at the message size. If it is between 115-145kB it is most likely the virus. Delete it and be on the safe side (this is the method I use). If you are at all suspicious, my advice is to delete the suspect message and get on with your life.

    3. Look for other tell-tale signs such as bizarre, but near believable SUBJECTS on the email (e.g. "A brand new game to play," "Let's be friends," "Re: From you girlfriend," or even "Delete klez32 forever").

    4. Install a good Anti-virus package. You don't need to spend an arm and a leg either. I can help anyone get a freeware copy of AVG Shield for FREE and it works very well, scanning emails upon arrival and scanning the boot sector of your computer at startup.

UPDATE: Visit http://www.grisoft.com to download free AVG 6.0 Anti-Virus. To learn all about how this virus works, visit this link, this page also has a link to a software patch for MS Outlook. Klez can also add your e-mail addy to dozens of spam mailing lists, read this for info: this link.

Hey Troops, Wal-Mart here in Ashtabula, OH put out one case of the Republic Gunship today. I picked up one and left the other. They also have 4 cases of Cantina figure sets warming the pegs. I picked up the Padme, Anakin, and Vader Unleashed figures last week here at Wal-Mart (Cool Figures).
Kmart in Ashtabula had the new 12 inch, Dooku, Zam, Super Battle Droid which I picked them up too. Erie, PA ToysRus had the Landspeeder w/Luke, picked it up. WOW I spent a lot of dough in a week. I can't find any new figures past #40 That's all for now! sadaniels@alltel.net

    Trooper California Tim reports:
It has been a while since I have posted, seems like forever and a day. Well another year of surviving Burning Man has gone by and I am ready to jump back into the cockpit, do some cruising, and file this report. I found the X-Wing at TRU in Foster City for $39.99, this was cheaper than the one I picked up in the City for $43.99. Have yet to see the exclusive Landspeeder, that’s not saying it hasn’t hit and flown out of the stores already. Nothing new at the San Antonio Rd. Wal-Mart, not even the Cantina exclusives. In fact Wal-Mart reduced the size of space for the SW toys to make room for…blech…Harry Potter.

Target has not had a whole lot either, however I did find one Hoth accessory kit that was still in good condition along with the deluxe C-3PO. This was at the Serramonte Target. I found the electronic Fett and Kenobi at the Colma K-Mart but the boxes were ripped and dented so I left them there.

I have to agree with some of you that the Kenobi isn’t really that impressive but Fett looked really cool. They also had one 12” Super Battle Droid left which I bought. No sign of the Republic Gunship or remote R2 which I cannot wait to get my hands on. That’s about it. I wish all you troopers out there the best in your hunts and MTFBWY. california tim awingace@msn.com

Momaw Nadon - Two Heads are Better than One!

Click on thumbnail to view large image

Here is a look at the re-issued Momaw Nadon figure included with the Wal-Mart exclusive Cantina Scene, there are a few differences between this one and the previously released POTF2 Basic figure from 1996. Overall, this new version is different enough from the original to make it seem like you have two unique Ithorians in your Cantina diorama:

  • An improvement is the new clay colored skin with an overwash that brings out the tiny details on his skin, much like the improved paint on the skin of Cantina Greedo. Put the two versions of Hammerhead side by side and the original ruddy color juxtaposed against this new deco makes it look like you have two believably unique individuals.

  • The poncho is an all-new design. Unlike the initial 1996 version, this one has a separate skirt piece and redesigned bolo tie and hood. The original has the great overcoat, but this new design is just as good. Again, another detail that makes these very different figures.

  • The rest of the physical mold is the exactly the same, but the skin and clothing modifications make this a worthwhile addition to the Cantina patron line-up. Replace the gonzo double barrelled cannon with three drink glasses and a bar section and this one suddenly makes a lot more sense!

    Trooper Lex-Wan (Ewok Trainer) reports:
Star Wars product is a trickle, some new stuff this weekend has come out here in mid east PA. The Republic Gunship has made it to Wal-marts. Every wal-mart had 2 & 4 at 38.86; I guess they come 2 per case & for all you Eagles fans over here the Mcfarlane sports picks series 4 has come out with a Donavan Mcnabb but he is very hard to find. Also, the 0100 Acklay is starting to show up in large numbers on the shelves at Wal-mart. The KB exclusive Obi-Wan pilot with Jedi fighter, if that's what ya want to call it seeing is how both of those were sold at every store across the nation, is at KB stores my 1 KB had about 15 of them they were priced at 27.99 but marked down to 21.99 I wasn't gonna get this but I just basically exchanged the first fighter I bought for this one seeing as how there almost the same price. I already spent the money on the fighter so why not exchange it to get a almost free fig with it & if ya don't have your receipt just go to a store that has nice associates that ya know wont give ya a hassle. I'll probably do this with the Slave 1 when it comes out if they are the same price. Also the TRU exclusive bowling Marge and Jacques has hit shelves as well for 29.99.On a Halloween note Kmarts have put out the child costumes Anakin, Clone trooper & Jango Fett. that's it for now happy hunting. Troops, I found a lot of Action Fleet sets at the Greenwood Target on Meridian Street. They also had all four of the exclusives (Biker Scout, Battle Droid, etc) as of Friday. Yesterday at the Greenwood Walmart, I found the Cantina set but they were all beat up so I did not pick any of them up. The Indy TRU said that the 25th Anniversary R2D2 will not be given with the big voice command R2 unit. He didn't know how it was going to be "sold or given away". Anyway, I am too poor to buy anything right now but will still post what I find - jedichirp chad.mcdonald@IWCR.com
Tentatively, look for R2-D2 to be a free premium with twenty dollar purchase.

I scored a Republic Gunship today at the Wal-Mart in Round Rock, TX just off Louis Henna. They had more when I left. They only come in cases of two, hopefully there will be enough to go around. I ordered 1 from Walmart.com a month ago and just recieved my shipping confirmation Saturday, so I will probably have one to trade in a few days. So, if you need one check out the jawa/sandtroooper forums under action figure current/listed under jowa6. I would give the trade list but it is just to long. jowa6@hotmail.com

    Trooper Jedi Cor reports:
Kmart has nothing new AGAIN. I picked up 2 more POTJ Action Figures at Ames that I didn't have. Corning, NY Walmart still has a lot of Cantina Playsets, and the last few wave of action figures, no new Unleashed Figures or Gunship. Horsehead Walmart has no Cantina Playsets, and fewer Action Figures.
KB Toys still has the older Action Figures, and a lot of Action Fleet Ships. Toysrus has a little section of older Action Figures, 6 Luke Skywalker Landspeeders, and 8 X-Wing Fighters. Talked to a Manager at Toysrus and he has never heard about the 25th Anniversary Silver R2-D2 Action Figure . Also I have not heard if anybody has seen the Playskool Millenium Falcon Adventure Set, and the Target 4 Exclusive Playsets being sold in New York State yet. Any Help? I'm getting edgy waiting for the new items. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU ALL - JEDI COR
I can say that in Western NY, the Target exclusives came and went very quickly in late July.

    Trooper Jedi Hitch reports:
Hi Troops! Things are heating up in Eastern Washington again. KB Toys has been getting a lot of good stuff, including the Teemto and Darth Maul waves as well as the 12" Clone Commanders and the new Jedi Starfighter w/ Obi-Wan. Wal-Mart has been getting in the Vader and Padme Unleashed figures, the new 12" wave, and LOTS of the Cantina figures. The new 12" Figures have also been hitting Kmart. Toys R Us has the 12" Luke/ Tauntaun and the Exclusive Landspeeder and X-Wing, but otherwise nothing new. Also, Fred Meyer has been getting more of the Teemto and Ki-Adi Mundi figures, plus I noticed that their Unleashed Figures are clearanced at $7.49. They pretty much have only the Maul and Jango Unleashed but I scored 1 of the Anakin Unleashed at one location, so if you have been waiting for the first two unleashed figures to get marked down, Fred Meyer might be a good choice. That's all for now! Jedi Hitch Hitchbuddy@aol.com

    Trooper Orlando reports:
Hi troopers, Orlando from McAllen TX; there has been no finding of figures past #40, will they ever show up? I did run into a couple of Republic Gunships, all 4 accessory sets and lots of Micro Machines Action Fleet rom Target, several Acklays, X Wings at TRU but no Landspeeders yet for me to see. K-Mart has 12" Obi Wan, Zam Wesell, & Clone Troopers. If any trooper out there needs any of these, I will be happy to sell it at cost + shipping as always, you can contact me at oalejandro69@yahoo.com. Thanks George Falls for the ships you sent me, they arrived in good shape. Good luck finding the new figures.
