Area Report: Pimp my TIE
Sandtrooper Boba Binks Reporting:"Hey Troops! Good news at Toys-R-Us today I found and picked up one of the re-colored TIE fighters with TIE pilot. It is the same as the Target TIE fighter that was released last year in the blue color with the accurately scaled wings. The receipt says 'TIE FIGHTER W. FIGURE $44.99' with the SKU number as 653569192497. You can see the photos I took of it here and here. Happy hunting!"

Custom Kotobukiya Sandtrooper
Now he's a good-looking sandtrooper!Ever since I bought the Kotobukiya sandtrooper figure last year, I have always wanted to give it a new weathering paint job to it since it looked so bad. I finally accomplished that task today. Now that I have my very own sandtrooper armor, I had a really good idea on how to dramatically improve its weathering. Head on over to the forums to read how I did this and to see all the pictures of it. If only Kotobukiya had done it this way in the first place!

Dewback Patrol: Troopers with a Cause!
Giving back!On August 26, 2006 the 501st Bloodfin Garrison (Indianapolis, IN) was invited to a benefit for Riley Hospital. Every year the benefit for the kids at Riley Hospital for Children is held with different themes. This year the theme was Star Wars. The rules for the 200-300 guests are quite simple. Come, have fun, eat, drink, play etc. However no gifts were permitted. Instead, everyone is provided a list of items that the kids at Riley need. Gifts like batteries, phone cards (for parents to call home) gift cards, electronic games, toys, cards, art supplies, etc. Between cash, cards and gifts they raised approximately $5000 for the kids at Riley last year. Would they top that this year?

The Force is Strong With LucasArts
The Force is Strong With LucasArtsBusinessWeek's online edition has written up a very good article concerning the future of Star Wars gaming. They give a preview of all the titles that LucasArts are currently working on, some of which are already released or soon to be released, and others are still being coded and conceived by members of LucasArts. The one game that stands out is the "Star Wars: Lethal Alliance." It will help bridge the gap between Episodes III and IV, by introducing key Saga characters for the very first time. It's currently unknown when this game may be released, but being a new Xbox 360 owner I cannot wait to see future Star Wars games come out for it. Read the full story here.

What Was Going On in 1980?
The ESB's Theatrical PosterTo me, 1980 was a really good year. I was seven years old and of course was fascinated with the original Star Wars film that debuted three years ago. I primarily played with Star Wars and G.I. Joe toys, and at times I combined the best of both worlds into these enormous battles for total domination. I had Rebels and Imperials teaming up to fight against G.I. Joe and Cobra. As a kid, of course that was a great time to be alive. Unfortunately, each year encounters tragedy in one way or another, and 1980 had some unfortunate events take place. On a good note, the best thing to ever happen was the release of "Star Wars, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back." To most Star Wars fans this was the best movie of all six in the Saga. So what are some of the key events that transpired during the year 1980? Read the whole article here.

Not Just Changes, But Improvements
Remember back in 1977 when you watched Star Wars for the very first time. The scrolling credits at the beginning of the film didn't have "Episode IV: A New Hope" listed as the title of the movie. Instead, it simply said "Star Wars." The Official Site has created an exciting of comparison photos of 122 still frames between the original theatrical 1977 version and the enhanced Special Edition 2004 version. Of course we all know about the added Jabba the Hutt, Greedo shooting first (not!) and others, but there are many subtle changes that were made in the 2004 version, all of which I think were worthwhile changes. You can take a look at these comparison shots here.

Force of the Bay: Searching for a Diamond in the Rough
The millions of Star Wars listings are only worth wading through if you can find a few gems in the tons of rubbish. You never know what will lie in the cards. There are many relics from the vintage era; you might need to find something to wipe the drool off of your chin! There are so many things to see, or things you just might learn how to make if you pay close attention. The best of the best, you can find it all. It’s so easy to start at the beginning of any collectible and work your way forward. The only thing that can stop you is your own wallet. You will be simply puzzled when you see nearly everything you ever owned growing up. You just might have to have balls to go out there and win that rare piece or Holy Grail. I’d just advise you to do your homework, try to have fun with whatever you’re buying and research your seller. Remember Sandtroopers.com neither endorse nor authenticates any of the items featured here. Good luck to you Troopers in your searches. Kick A#$ and take names!

“Last night at Toys R Us in South County, St. Louis, MO, I saw on the shelves 4 Dagobah X-Wings, 1 AT-AT, 1 TIE-Fighter and even 1 Clone Wars Gunship. It was very surprising to see the scalpers hadn’t gotten to one yet. Good luck to all of you Troops!”

Area Report: The old Switcheroo!
Still on patrol in the circle city!“Troops, this has got to stop! I was disgusted today at what I saw at a Toys-R-Us store in Indy. I was looking at the new deco Exclusive Endor AT-AT at Toys-R-Us and noticed something that mad me upset and I just had to take a picture of it with my cell phone. As you can see from the picture some inconsiderate person had removed the Biker Scout with flip-up visor and replaced it with another Star Wars figures, in this case the AT-RT figure from Revenge of the Sith. This is not the first time that I have seen a figure removed from a package and replaced with another figure. What people should really do is stop doing this! You are ruining the fun of collecting for others in the area. If you want the toy purchase the toy and keep it, stop returning the toy with a reject item. The stores should also know they’re getting stuck. The Force is NOT strong in you.”

Sandtrooper Rodapel Reports:
“Hey Troopers, I just had to drop a line and tell everyone how awesome the new Sideshow Bespin Han Solo is. I got the exclusive version with the Mynock and was not disappointed. Granted the price is a little (okay, a lot) steeper then the old 12-inch Hasbro line we all loved (or hated), but the quality makes that stuff look like "junk". Heck, even the packaging is awesome. Very heavy duty, very displayable, and very neat. I think I’m beginning to stray more and more away from Hasbro towards these higher end items. Who’s with me? Scalpers beware!”

“Trooper YQ1 reporting in from the snow capped mountains of western Minnesota. I was visiting a Toys-R-Us in Burnsville and stumbled across an Endor Attack AT-AT. I have never heard of such a thing but there it was in all its $89.99 glory! It is basically the same Walker with a new “forest worn, muddy feet” paint job, complete with the updated AT-AT pilot and a Biker Scout with a flip-up visor. I am still on the lookout for a Target Exclusive TIE should any fellow troopers have one to spare. Happy hunting!”

Sandtrooper Chewie King Wookiee Reports:
East Coast S.C.A.L.P. Division!“Today, my hunting adventures led me to the Dayton, OH area actually more like Beavercreek close to Wright State University campus. I shopped by the Target, Wal-Mart, and TRU there. Target had some of the greatest battles on the pegs. Wal-Mart had some of them as well. TRU was packed to the gills with figs from various waves. Even though I didn't buy anything I had a good experience at the TRU. One of the employees went out of his way to help me out with a Hunt for GG battle pack. They didn't have any at his store so he called another one and they were out there as well. I was impressed by the fact that he was such a good help I wanted to share my story. The store did have the AT-AT and X-Wing’s today but they sold out rather quickly.”

Sandtrooper Jedi Scholar 8 Reports
Class is in session, suckers!“Not a whole lot to report lately here in NW Indiana. Toys 'R Us in Merrillville had the Dagobah X-Wing and the Clone Wars Gunships for $45, lots of the H&V minus the good ones, and a lot of the Tatooine wave. All Targets have the exclusive Unleashed Boba Fett and General Grievous. KB Toyworks in Highland had a lot of the H&V series 2 in, with at least 4 501st Clones and a few Scorch. Titanium ships have been overrun with Titanium Transformers. This kind of annoys me because the stores are not separating them from the Star Wars Titanium ships and are not stocking accordingly. That leaves one or two ships and 20 or the Transformers. Endor wave is still easy enough to find here, except for the Death Star Gunner. All I'm waiting on now is for the Naboo wave to hit. I am really looking forward to that one. Until next time, best of luck in all of your patrols!”

They had 2 AT-AT's and 4 X-Wings .The X-Wing looked very nice but I passed. The thing that was strange was there was no R2-D2 included. The AT-AT didn't thrill me. It was just a repaint of the POTF2 one with different light and sound effects. The folks are dropping 90 bucks just for the Biker Scout with the flip up visor? I can swear it. There you have it.”

    Sandtrooper Darth Pharoah Reports:
Goes down Souf!“There is actually quite a bit showing up in the Atlanta area for once. I’ve found the new Titanium figures, 3-inch ships (B-wing, TIE Interceptor) and Ultra Vader’s TIE. Friday evening I asked an employee at my local Target about the Unleashed Boba and Grievous and sure enough, they were in the back! A bit pricey at 19.99 but hey, when you miss out the first time.... The only thing still MIA is the TRU AT-AT and X-Wing. Otherwise, just waiting for the Naboo wave! Good luck out there...hit it hard!”

Here is a another quick update from Big Bad Toy Store about a new round a preorders that are so cool, we couldn't wait until Monday to tell you about them!

The Imperial Briefing Room features Darth Vader and all his Imperial officers aboard the Death Star. For $37.99 you'll get Grand Moff Tarkin, Admiral Motti, General Tagge, Chief Bast, Officer Cass, Colonel Wulff Yularen, and Darth Vader himself along with a variety of blasters and Vader's Lightsaber - some cool all new molds in this set!

The animated style is a fresh new take on these characters and Gentle Giant has done a superb job with the sculpts. Don't miss out on Vader and Leia as well.

Gentle Giant Mini-Busts: Jango Fett and Luke Skywalker Jedi join this cool line of collectible busts. Both figures are very well done and Jango looks especially tough with twin blasters crossed in front of him.

Real Men wear Pink!“Some more news from Central Texas, it looks like Toys R Us finally decided to try and catch up with the times! “They've struck again! Scalpers have hit Columbia's Wal-Marts for the third time this month. It's never been this bad before. After taking all the Endor wave they needed, they bent all the cards of everything else! Leaving me with a damaged Chirpa and Moff. So this is a notice for anyone in the Missouri area to keep an eye out. As for any other news the new Unleashed are on sale here, but only for $12. “Hello Troops, have you guys heard about delays in shipping these? Hasbro cashed my check for this about 2 1/2 months ago. My friend said they cashed his check and he got his Lucas Stormtrooper in 2 weeks. I think it's ridiculous how they ship these out with what they are stamped on the side of the box. That can tempt a rogue angry postal worker any day.”

    Unleashed Update: Wave 16
Now exclusively at a Target store near you Unleashed Wave 16 has made its appearance. Although most stores do not have these figures on the sales floor yet, asking for them politely might get you a helpful employee to bring them out from the stockroom for you. The Wave is made of two previously released characters: General Grievous and Boba Fett. While for most people Grievous wasn't a hard figure to find, it is known Boba Fett suffered from poor distribution in some areas, becoming scarce and demanding high prices in the secondary market. Now is your chance to get a hold of the Bounty Hunter and the General at retail price.

Take a look at the pictures of Unleashed Wave 16 and their new, somewhat familiar cylindrical package. Enjoy!

They have an end-cap of the Endor wave that rivals the release of the Episode III amount of figures. They must have had 10 cases worth of figures hanging with any flavor you're looking for in triplicates. Goes down Souf!“DarthPharaoh checking in with the Atlanta area 411. Like almost all areas now, Endor is pretty easily findable around here. Greatest Battles waves can also be found just about everywhere though stores seem to have one wave or the other, not both, and naturally the clone figures are harder to get as they’re the most popular. In fact, the Padme and 3PO figures look to be big pegwarmers already in a lot of stores. The AT-AT’s and X-Wings haven’t hit TRU here as of this email but a manager at a local TRU I talked to told me they should be arriving this week (probably). No sign of the 7-inch Unleashed rehashes but the Hoth Unleashed Battlepacks are here though not too common yet. Just over 2 weeks until Dragon-Con and I’ll be going for the first time. Never been to a Con and I need practice for C-IV!! If you were going to be heading down for this give me a shout, as I haven’t met anyone from here yet and it would be fun. Don't know if it was a fluke but I found the entire Endor wave last month at Target and have not seen any since at Target. But you can find the Endor wave at Wal-Mart. Found both waves 2 and 3 of the Greatest Hits at both Target and Wal-Mart. The new Titanium vehicles (B-wing, Tie Interceptor, and next wave of Battlestar Galactic) and figures (I only found IG-88) are showing up at Target. Then on Friday, there was a whole end cap of the Unleashed Boba and Grievous. On Thursday, scored the AT-AT and then on Sat picked up the X-wing at TRU. It has been a very expensive month. Lastly, because of the great kindness of a local collector who attended Comic Con, I now have the Shocktrooper mini bust and the 501st Stormtrooper in my possession. First the report Toys R Us received a load of the greatest battles figures with no less than 6 Shocktroopers but no 501st figures. Target received some also with the Shocktrooper but no 501st. Wal-Mart received some yesterday and my fiancé called wanting to know what I was looking for and surprise she came home with a 501st. It was the only one they had so be out looking. Nothing much more to report except that the at-at walkers have started showing up. Now for the request. If anyone has any extra of the Hasbro episode 2 saga posters they gave out please let me know. I am looking for the one that has the figures going all the way up to Teemto Pagilies that may have only been given away in Australia and the one given out here that goes up to Djas Puhr. The one going up to Teemto has a white background behind each individual figure with the name underneath. The other one has the names listed at the bottom in a black type box if anyone can help please email.”

After Wal-Mart's finalization of their reset and a relocation of the Star Wars brand, the pegs and an end-cap were filled with each assortment, with many cases doubling back to a retreat to the stock room until more room is made later. Target got Greatest Battles in lesser quantity but do have a surprising abundance of clear-glass Hem Dazon and even clear with blue paint and the more common white and blue painted. Sandtrooper dustrho Reporting In!
S.C.A.L.P. Weapons SupplierHey troopers! I made one stop while out on duty this morning, and it was one of the best scores of Star Wars toys in a very long time! I stopped at the Wal-Mart out in Plainfield on Route 59, when my friend Jeff and I spotted a few Hasbro Star Wars boxes that were unopened, just waiting to make their ways to the pegs and shelves. Two of the boxes contained several new figures from the latest Saga wave, and I was able to score the following figures: Death Star Gunner (x2), Moff Jerjerrod, C-3PO w/Ewok Throne, Chief Chirpa and R2-D2 (which I might already have). I also found four new Unleashed Battle Pack sets which include the following: Imperial Invasion, Imperial Snowtroopers, Snowtrooper Battalion and Wampa Assault. These Unleashed figures are getting better and better as Hasbro keeps pumping these out of their facility. I think this Hoth wave is by far the best of all the smaller Battle Pack figures. Until next time... United We Find!

Sandwatch Action Figure Reviews: Double your Efforts!
Hey Troops, Sandwatch Action Figure Reviews have been updated with our second figure from the new Endor wave in the form of Moff Jerjerrod from Star Wars- Return of the Jedi. There is nothing worse than someone who doesn't give it their all until prompted. Was this Hasbro doubling their efforts or merely using spare parts? Feel free to offer your own feedback about the Saga collection. Until then enter if you dare!

Is Hasbro still making this?“The Greatest Hits and the Endor wave have been hitting very hard in north Alabama. I went to 2 Wal-Mart's and one had all the Greatest Hits the other was crammed with the Heroes and Villains and the Endor waves. I am curious though. I have not seen the Shock Trooper.”

Latest Q&A from HasbroHey Troopers! Hasbro just sent us the answers to our latest barrage of questions. Even though they sort of answered 3 in one, I'm sure you'll want to take a look here. There are also a couple other announcements you'll want to read concerning VTSC figures! We have appeared to have missed the deadline for the next week, therefore we will pick up at next opportunity!

    Sandtrooper JediMCor Reports:
“I found the Endor Wave at my local Wal-Mart only. TRU had the older wave figures. Plus there were 4 New Gunships and 4 sets of Hunt for Grievous Battle Packs, so I picked up another pack for myself while my boys have the other set as an opener. Kmart and KB Toys are no good. The Greatest Battle Figures are hit or miss, mostly at Target and Wal-Mart. The newer Titanium series and Unleashes are slowly showing up now. My new local Target doesn't have any of the older items for clearance or for sale at all. So I missed out on the Grievous Demised and Skirmish in the Senate. Does any fellow Sandtrooper have any extra Grievous Demised or Skirmish in the Senate that I can buy or maybe to trade with? Also I received at the cash register last week a ($1) Dollar Bill with the words Ljedi written on it. So does anybody have a claim on this dollar bill? I will try to scan it for my next report. May the Force be with you all!”

Sandwatch Update: Chaykin Poster Sculpture by CODE 3
Sandwatch Update: Chaykin Poster Sculpture by CODE 3They're small, they're highly detailed, and they're probably the coolest sculptures you can add to your collection. What I'm referring to are the poster sculptures from CODE 3 Collectibles. What they have done is that they've made 3-D poster sculptures based on several already made Star Wars theater posters. The first guide done by fellow staff member Boba Binks is the Chaykin poster, which happened to be a San Diego Comic-Con excluive. Force of the Bay: Roger that Delta Leader!
The Force continues to have much presence in the world of Ebay, while the latest and greatest may be the focus of most, we tend to look for the rare and unique. While many are still awaiting their George Lucas in Stormtrooper gear, you can still find artifacts like the very first mail-away nearly thirty years ago! When you browse the thousands of listings, it is very much like a virtual time machine. You should all know by now it's all fun & games; even if it's finding another way to throw away your money. I really don’t think Picasso himself could paint a better picture with this blast from the past. However vintage treasure isn’t all. If you were looking to add a decoration or simply have something to help with target practice, Ebay would do wonders for your Star Wars room. I advise you to be cautious but you can always find whatever you are looking for to start a costume of your own. No matter how small or large, it’s all just one click away. No matter what it is, somebody thought of it first and is selling it on Ebay! Sandtroopers.com neither endorses nor authenticates any of the items featured here. Good luck to you Troopers in your searches, Kick A#$ and take names!

    Sandtrooper Starfox Reports:
Real Men wear Pink!“It's hot and sunny in central Texas, but that don't keep this ol' Trooper down! The finds have been real spotty of late. At Target in Killeen, the Greatest Heroes wave with the Shocktrooper made a brief appearance, all VTSC were marked down on clearance to $3, but left the store before I ever laid my eyes upon such low prices! Wal-Mart in Killeen also had their version of the greatest Heroes with the repackaged 501st Trooper. Also, these look great on these new cardbacks! The Endor wave made one very short appearance, and I was able to score Chirpa & Jerjerrod, but the Gunner & 3PO has eluded me, for now. Kmart still sucks! I hope everyone is enjoying the 2006 Sandblast, because it has been great so far, and the prizes are going to keep getting better! United we Find! Wizard World Day 4
The final day of Wizard World Chicago began early this morning, and this Trooper was there early and eager for action! Unfortunately, there was not much action to be had. Very little in the way of events that were worth while, and I spent the morning searching out last minute deals. I picked up some basic figures for my loose shelf, and finally scored me a 12" Biker Scout. There were very few people dressed up today compared to yesterday, and most dealers were still sticking to their original prices, not bargaining down to move the inventory like in past years. In all, it was a much slower Sunday morning than in previous years, and I cut out early for the long trek home. I am anxious for next year to see if they try and improve on it at all by adding some larger Star Wars presence such as Gentle Giant, Sideshow Collectibles, or even Hasbro. Stay tuned for Darth Spice's final day coverage coming soon!

The second Battle Pack is known as "Sith Lord Attack" which include the following: two Battle Droids, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul (from Episode I). Sandtrooper Monkey Ambassador Reports:
“Hey Troopers, It's been a while since I posted at Sandtroopers. And I hate that I have to do it now. Not because I don't like the site. If it weren't for this site I wouldn't be in the collecting community and would probably have been discouraged from collecting when I first started; before I found this site I didn't know anyone who collected figures. But I hate that I have to post here because I'm selling the centerpiece of my collection. I am unable to afford some college bills and need some quick cash. I thought this would be the perfect place to offer my TF Vader because this is where it came from. I got it through a trade through Sandtroopers.com. I have an AFA 85 2002 Toy Fair Darth Vader for sale. I wanted to offer it to collectors who I know would take care of it before I put it on eBay. Please e-mail me with offers if you're interested. Thanks Sandtroopers.com and keep up the good work!”

The Blackhole Exclusive Stormtrooper is in stock and has a shipping date of 8-4 in case there are any of you that missed out on the previous order. Check out StarWarsShop.com for the latest and updates. I'm guessing several orders canceled and that is the reason for the extra stock that has suddenly resurfaced.

    Sandtrooper Barve Reports:
“Well the traffic was slow today on the way to Wal-Mart due to roadwork. As we inched along I said, "I better find something worth this wait.” And sure enough I did. Endor wave is here! They had at least three of everything in the Columbia's Supercenter. I picked up a Chief Chirpa, C-3PO, another Utapau Clone, and at long last a Clone Commander Cody! They had him out with a red holo and a bunch of others with reds too. And as I left the aisle, there starring me in the face was a whole end of an aisle full of VOTC! So I grabbed another Biker scout and Tusken, cause I had a Greedo and Han waiting at home (more on those later). My sister also picked up a Scout, Emperor, Chirpa, and C-3PO.” For more check out the

    Sandtrooper Aantmanntooine Reports:
“SW Virginia: Target is in the process of a major reset in their toy department and just stocked Hoth Unleashed Battlepack Playsets (Snowspeeder and Rebel Gunner) and new Saga vehicles including Vaders TIE Advanced x1 Starfighter. Other than that, our local Wal-Mart is choked up with old Tatooine wave figures and likely won’t put the Endor wave out until there is some room. Hrrmph.”
