Sandtrooper Tim Reports:
“I went to one of the Wal-Mart stores here in Memphis today and they had 2 whole aisles of clearance items in toys...the Star Wars figures were $3 the Unleashed figures were $10. For whatever reasons the action figures were out in the garden dept. There were no star wars figures in the section where they usually are so scout around. Be on the lookout.”

Sandtrooper Darth Vegas Reports:
Coming soon with the force of an X-Wing!“Hey Troopers, It's been awhile since my last recon but I went out this morning and I see not much has changed. I did go on leave to Comic Con in San Diego last week and that was an experience. If you haven't gone to one, make it a point to! The new products coming out are awesome. The designers have stepped up the detail to an even higher level. This fall and winter will be full of more excellent collectibles. Hasbro had a great display set up with too many new products to mention. Just believe me they will be great. Gentle Giants display was as good as it gets. Their Marketing and Sales staff was full tilt towards the future with some truly amazing Busts and Statues. There was this new Leia as Jabbas Slave statue that was as close to perfect as you can get. It is a great piece. The new Maquettes and Statues will keep your appetite for Star Wars satisfied. Sideshow put on a nice display and overall the Comic Con was a good time! I'll check back in soon! Until next time, stay frosty!”

New Images of Jedi Scholar 8's collection!
Jedi Scholar 8's CollectionRecently, I decided that my Star Wars room had become too cluttered, so I condensed it. I took down my POTF2, POTJ, Episode I, Saga, and Clone Wars figures and packed them all away safely in plastic tubs. I put all of my Episode III figs together, and set about enough space for the rest of this year's releases in the way of basic figures. Most notably, is my new display shelf that I got from a Fashion Bug store for $20! It has two sides, and can display things on both of them as well as the top! After some strategic moving and placement, I came up with the final version. Click here to check out my collections page for all the photos!

Collections Update: More Pictures Added to darthdan's Collection
Crackin' Jawa Skulls in the Hot Tatooine Suns! The Collections section has been updated today, not with a new gallery but a major update to one of our member's galleries. Sandtrooper darthdan has sent in 25 new photos of his collection, and most of what he has photographed will blow you away! I love all the different scenes/dioramas he's displayed, but after this update I'm really enjoying the Emperor's arrival with the Imperial Shuttle. I like any of the photos that have sandtroopers in them, but the one I like the most happens to be this one. Getting a glimpse of what might have happened on Kamino is great, and to think that it was Darth Vader and his 501st clones cleaning up the place. Check out all the photos in his gallery here.

To be honest I really don’t have anything new to report on the wilds of WV other than rumors of the second H and V wave that is starting to make an appearance. There also seem to be some great deals on the VTSC Han, Greedo, and the demise of Grievous if you can find them at your targets. If you haven’t read the new Ewok report from the action figure review section you don’t know what you are missing. I also have to thank Hoth Chad, Darth Aussie, and Recon Sgt. for hooking me up with some great stuff this month. Sandtroopette Teffie Reports:
“Hello Troops, writing in from Southern California.... I've been so busy with work I haven't had time to post recently. Went to Comic Con and it was a blast (albeit the parking situation). I think I enjoyed meeting the Star Wars actors at the Official Pix booth the most followed by the wonderful Sideshow Collectibles display (the Premium Format Boba Fett is amazing and I'm very partial to the new 12-inch Leia in Boushh disguise as well). I don't know if this can be used when the 501st troopers are back online at Hasbro for ordering but Hasbro has a coupon code for 10% off of purchases that was passed out at the convention (I think anyone can use it). The promotional code is COMIC2006 and expires August 13, 2006. You can use it when you checkout online. I have a few extra 501st if anyone still needs one and can't get one through Hasbro. Not much else new here. Target has been completely devoid of new Star Wars stuff! Wal-Mart had wave 6 but that's been it. Take care.”

Sandtrooper Jedichirp Reports:
“Jedichirp reporting in from Indy. I made a rather good stop Wednesday at Target. They were pulling out their massive clearance sale on most of the store and found some good toys. I picked up for my son the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures with motorcycles, all for sets for only $3.27 each!! I then picked up for myself some Star Wars figs that I already had but just couldn’t pass up the price. They have the UGH VSTC figs of Trench coat Han and Greedo for only $2.98 each. I grabbed up one of each. They also had some of their titanium ships marked way down, but I passed on those. They didn’t have any Battle in the Senate packs, but I’m going to another local Target today to search for them. So stay on Target, Troops. There are plenty of good deals to be had.”

Sandtrooper Icypher Reports:
“Hey there fellow Troopers. Last weekend I was one of the unlucky masses who got denied the 501st trooper due to website difficulties experienced by HasbroToyShop.com. Having the figure in my cart TWICE on different occasions only to have the web server crash on checkout was enough to cause this trooper to spout words enough to melt his armor. So in my aggravation, I wrote and called them, only to have them cheerfully say "So sorry!” Well, much to my surprise, I did receive a response from them this morning with some very good news. The email they replied back to me said the Star Wars 501st Storm Trooper Comic Con exclusive figure will be available again at hasbrotoyshop.com. We are waiting to receive additional inventory and as soon as it is received, the website will be updated and it will be available to order. Please keep checking the site as it is updated as soon as inventory is received.”

Update to Unleashed Guide: Wave 15
As mentioned late last year, Unleashed Wave 15 was finally made available as an exclusive to Wal-mart stores in May 2006, marking the resurrection of the full scale figures, the format most appreciated by collectors worldwide. Showing that Hasbro isn't completely run by a group of morons, the company came to its senses and realized there are still lots of money to be made with the original 7" sculpts, perhaps more than with the miniaturized versions. Take a close look now at Unleashed Wave 15 as we go deep into the Wave that brought back the Line. Enjoy!

From topics ranging from the original trilogy DVDs to the 30th Anniversary Celebration that is sure to take us all by storm. What really got my interests stirred was the announcement of the 200 costumed; marching 501st Stormtroopers were being flown in from more than 20 countries for the Tournament of Roses Parade. Dustrho and I took part in a marching exercise a couple of weekends ago with the Midwest Garrison. Talk about giving back, Uncle George is going to have a great New Year’s present for some 200 lucky Troopers! For more check out the full story at the official site.

Sandtrooper Rojohero Reports:
“Hey Troops, Rojo here in Houston. The month of July has proven to be a horrible month for this trooper. On the 1st I had a surgery/procedure and then I developed an infection in my stomach and have been in the hospital ever since. I am expected to get out next week. I was unable to attend the cons in Dallas and San Diego. I was wondering if anyone could pick me up a 501st figure and the official pix clone posters and any other Star Wars swag you could pick up. I can paypal you or send you the money once I get out of the hospital. Seeing all the reports on the site keeps my motivated to feel better.Happy Hunting Troops!”

Sandblast 2006: Blast Off
On with the Party! It is finally time to drop the bomb we have been building since last year. Anyone who has crossed my path, knows how much I love a good party. Months of planning and plotting were put into the celebration that will kick off July 23rd, 2006. While it's not quite 30 prizes in 30 days, my attempt to up the ante was not in vain. We would like to thank all of our loyal Troopers who make Sandtroopers.com their Star Wars collecting home and we look forward to continuing the privilege of serving all of you. The prizes will be selected at random throughout the month. Much like this website, the prizes continue to get better every year. Good luck to all of you in the draw. I would also like to thank our sponsors and the many Troopers who came forward and donated prizes to the party. Stay tuned to this thread for more information. Dewback Patrol: San Diego Comic-Con
On with the Show!Due to unforeseeable circumstances I would like to apologize for our lack of coverage at San Diego Comic-Con the last two days. Our team has had some serious technical obstacles and has had quite a time relaying the information back here to Sandtrooper HQ. While we do strive to be the leader in event coverage, sometimes mistakes are made and we hope to make up for it in the next few days! Until then take a look at what Sandtrooper SoCal Dom and Josh have put together from the last 48 hours! We look forward to steady reports throughout the rest of the weekend.

Download the 1976 Poster
Download the 1976 PosterIn case you haven't already seen over at the Official Site, all Star Wars fans are able to download a stunning Star Wars poster crafted by Howard Chaykin. Only 1,000 prints were made of this poster, and is definitely one of the more difficult pieces you could try adding to your collection. However, it is now in Adobe Acrobat PDF format for you to download for free. Just print it out and hang it up on a wall. Even though it's not the real-deal, it still is one attractive piece to display on any wall. Read more about this here.

It's Time to Crush the Rebels, Brick by Brick
It's Time to Crush the Rebels, Brick by BrickOne of the most anticipated sequels to a Star Wars video game will be coming out in less than two months, and the Official Site has decided to tease us with more screenshots and background information regarding this new game. LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy is based on the obvious original three films that were released in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and you'll soon be able to fulfill your destiny brick by brick. The scene that I'll be looking forward to the most will be the Battle of Hoth, as it's my favorite scene out of all six Star Wars films. Check out the full story for yourself here, and make sure you visit to the forums to share your thoughts about this upcoming game.

Star Wars Fans Helping Out the Community
Star Wars Fans Helping Out the CommunitySince all six Star Wars films are now available on DVD, many Star Wars fans across the galaxy have watched them back-to-back, to get the full enjoyment out of these two trilogies. I, for one, haven't had the pleasure of doing this myself, but I am planning on doing it this weekend with a few friends. Members of the Quad-City Rogue Squadron, based out of the Quad Cities in Illinois, recently got together to watch eighteen hours worth of Star Wars goodness. But, these fans also help out the community by participating in fund raisers and other volunteer services. Read the full story here.

Sandtrooper Vampirexxi Reports:
“Hasbro updated their site at about 9:34am Eastern Time with the 501 trooper and the gold tie fighter. Of course the site was flooded, taking years to load a page. If you were lucky enough to get through, the cost was $19.83 with shipping. I was lucky enough to make it all the way to the final purchase step, just to have it removed from my cart (as they are now out). Yes, by 10:45, the 501 has been removed from the website - I can only assume it means they are sold out. I guess it's a good thing there are websites like this one! While I know the big story is with the newly revealed Star Wars toys from Hasbro (got my eye on that Republic Commando set), I want to let everyone know the local TRU (Gaithersburg, MD) has 4 Gunship and 12 or so Hunt for Grievous battle packs. I know a lot of troopers are still looking for these. They are very steep prices though - $25 for the battle pack, and $45 for the gunship. United We Find.”

Sandtrooper Vindicator Reports:
Created a monster!“Hey Troops, it's been a long time since my last report. With the excitement of ComicCon upon us, I "figured" it'd be a good time to update everyone with respect to what's been happening this year up in Canada. So far so good - we've received every basic figure so far, up to and including he complete Tatooine wave - all on TriLogo cards (including all 10 of the badly-distributed Ultimate Galactic Hunt versions). We've gotten the new Vintage Saga figures, and some of us even have our mail-away George Lucas Troopers already. We've also been lucky enough to get the TRU Clone Wars Gunship and Hunt For Grievous Battlepacks, but (as per usual) have been left out in the cold when it comes to the Target Exclusives. If you happen to see the Demise of Grievous figure or Senate Battlepacks on clearance, keep us Canuckleheads in mind.”

Sandtrooper Scalperhunter1 Reports:
The Truth“Greetings from the heartland of Gods country. Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Not a bad day for the ole Scalperhunter. Target and TRU have absolutely zilch. Imagine my surprise. Wal-Mart on the other hand had a few of the Endor figures in stock. I was able to pick up C-3PO, Chief Chirpa, Death Star Gunner and Emperor Palpatine. In the Titanium line I brought home a Sandcrawler, the blue A-Wing and the Executor. Wal-Mart also had one TF Millennium Falcon. I passed on this since I can't justify buying it for $35.00 when I can get 2 single TF ships for $15.00 a piece. That's all for now. To everyone that's headed to San Diego I look forward to your reports. United We Find.”

Sandtrooper Jason Reports:
Who's Dead?“Wal-Mart is the spot for the Endor wave this week in northeast Illinois. The Quarry’s Wal-Mart in Hodgkins/Countryside, Il (LaGrange) had three of the five figures, with one each C-3PO, Chief Chirpa, and Moff Jerjerrod. They also had an unopened case of new Galactic Heroes. In the past week or so, the same Wal-Mart has gotten large drops of Tatooine wave, with sometimes eight or more Sandtroopers among the stock. The Target down the strip saw the vehicle assortment with Vader’s TIE Fighter, Mace’s Starfighter. I also received my two Lucas troopers in the mail Friday to complete the set of this year’s vintage run.”

Sandtrooper SoCal Rod Reports:
“SouthernCaliRod reporting in just two days before I make my debut at Comic Con in San Diego. I'll be reporting out along with a few others from the Dewback Patrol. It should be another great event with representatives from all the major Star Wars licenses on hand i.e. Hasbro, Gentle Giant, Sideshow, just to name a few. I am going to pay special attention to Sideshow as they are going to announce their next 12-inch offerings from the "Scum and Villainy" line. From the collecting front, was able to score the Endor wave at my friendly neighborhood Hemet Wal-Mart today. They literally had peg after peg of that wave. This store is usually a "goose egg", a wave or two behind the rest. The scalpers must be staking out Target 24/7 in hopes of getting the "Flame Vaders", which have been showing up at a few select Targets.”

S.C.A.L.P. Recon Patrol“Well it is hotter than Mustafar! I just looked at the toy re-set for the 30th at Target. I am sad to report the Heroes and Villains will get 1 row Basic gets two. And the rest is Titanium, and the Galactic Heroes. So it looks like any "new" items will be during a revision when they are made available. Oh and the Tatooine wave except the Sandtrooper is really warming the pegs.”

Star Wars Drone Inspired Satellites
Star Wars Drone Inspired SatellitesInspired by the drones tha follow Darth Maul and the Sandtroopers, similar drones are being tested on the International Space Station to see whether their technology is suitable to be used in a new generation of "smart" satellites. The nine pound spheres use carbon dioxide expelled from their thrusters to maneuver around the ISS. These satellites will be cheap and can fly in formation, so they can be thrown up into space by the shuttle-load. Check out the story here.

Kristen BellThe lovely Kristen Bell will be playing the role of a Star Wars fan in the upcoming SCI FI Channel Fanboys. KOTOR2 was also great, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing KOTOR3 come out (whenever that may be). So, share your thoughts and experiences of this game over in our forums.

Endor has Arrived!
Class is in session, suckers!“Today was a good day for the Ol' Scholar! My Dewback, Cleofus Brown, and I saddled up and rode throughout NW Indiana in search of the Mace Windu Jedi Starfighter. Coming up empty handed on that front, I filled my saddlebags with other goodies! Wal-Mart in Merrillville had the Endor wave, so I picked up Moff JerJerrod and Death Star Gunner, leaving The Emperor, Chief Chirpa, and C-3PO. Wal-Mart in Portage yielded the latest wave of Titanium Ships, Super Star Destroyer, blue A-Wing fighter, and the Jawa Sandcrawler! Happy with my latest scores, I retired due to the heat and hit the beach! On another note, I, too, saw signs at Target in Highland for a "Collector's Edition Darth Vader", but the date on it was 3/15/05, so I thought it might have to do with the old Lava Vader. Well, that's all I found today. To read more on why I did NOT buy the rest of the Endor wave and see pics of what I did get, click here!

Sandtrooper Boba Binks Reports: New Target Exclusive Vader?
Still on patrol in the circle city!“Yesterday I went to Target. While there I saw a little sign with the Star Wars Actions figures. It reads, Collectors Edition Darth Vader action figure is limited to 1 per guest. I asked an employee what this was. He replied that it is an exclusive Darth Vader action figure. He told me that the figure looks like all the other Darth Vader figures. That it comes in the same type package as the basic figures are in but has a plastic case (clam shell). He said that this morning several Star Wars collectors were waiting outside the store all wanting to get this figure. They sold out within minutes he said. So upon finding this information I went to several other Target stores. Out of seven stores I stopped in three of them had this sign with the Star Wars figures. With my cell phone I took a picture of this sign at the Southport Rd and I-65 Target store. When I asked about this figure I was basically told the same story about this figure. I suspect this is the same Vader that is being reported at Galactic Hunter.com. At the bottom of the sign the DPCI# reads 000-00-0000 so I am guessing this is a one time deal. As for the price, I have no clue since there was not price tag and I did not think of asking.”

Latest Q&A from HasbroHey troopers! Hasbro just sent us the answers to the four questions that were recently sent to them, and you'll want to take a look here. While they are a little behind, they promise to catch up and reveal much at Comicon very soon, as they are not taking any more questions for the next two weeks. The questions that were asked involve Bai Ling, Jeremy Bulloch, a possible new cloud car vehicle and also a possible new Dagobah playset. Did we get the answers we were all hoping to hear? You'll have to visit to the forums and check out for yourself!

Dustrho Made it in Bantha Tracks!
Dustrho Made it in Bantha Tracks! Most of us who have subscriptions for the Star Wars Insider magazine and Hypespace have heard of their special section dedicated to the fans known as Banth Tracks. Well, I recently marched in Bartlett's 4th of July parade for the Midwest Garrison, and our story made it into the recent online edition of Banth Tracks. I am actually in one of the photos that were submitted, but unfortunately you can barely see the top portion of my helmet. Even though I wasn't the center of attention in that snapshot, I still can say that I at least made it in Bantha Tracks. Check out all the photos here, but remember you must be a Hyperspace member in order to view this.

"Forces of Corruption" Brings New Features
The PC based game known as Star Wars: Empire at War received mixed reviews, as we have noted on several occasions already, but fans across the galaxy will soon be able to take on the role of the new Underword faction. This new expansion pack will bring so many new features to the game which include the following: better ground battles, corruption, ability to navigate through asteroid fields, and new ships for all teams (B-Wings, Super Star Destroyers, etc). This looks to be an exciting and must-have expansion pack, and you can learn more about these new features here.

Hasbro's Numbers Are Down
HasbroWhat shouldn't be a surprise to anyone in the Star Wars universe, Hasbro's numbers have dramatically declined in the past year. Last year they make $147 million in the first quarter of last year, where this year they only made $51 million. Of course that was bound to happen, especially since Revenge of the Sith came out in theaters last year which helped boost sales on new products. Hasbro does have exclusive rights to manufacture Star Wars toys until 2018, so I'm curious how those numbers will look in years to come. Read the full article here.

Sandtrooper Darth Pharoah Reports:
Goes down Souf!“DarthPharaoh checking in. It’s been a while but there hasn’t been a whole lot to report. Mos Eisley trickled in slowly and now most of it.... except for the Sandtroopers (naturally)...are pretty easy to find. Mace’s Starfighter has started to show at Target’s here though I haven’t seen it yet and the Titanium Ultra AT-AT has found it’s way into my collection via TRU. This is another great piece from a line (Ultra only) I’m afraid isn’t going to last. I hope SDCC proves me wrong but it’s a gut feeling. Bad thing here is that there’s been nothing new on the basic figure front since Floppy Hat Luke and the boys showed up in late May. Nearly 2 months. What’s the deal Hasbro? Good luck to all, United We Find.”

New Packaging Coming in 2007!
New Packaging Coming in 2007!Just when you were starting to get used to the look of the current packaging, Hasbro has just unveiled what is in store for 2007 in regards to the packaging of Star Wars toys. If you thought the look for the Revenge of the Sith lineup of toys was bold, you haven't seen anything yet. The theme behind this new look is based primarily on angles. I'd like to be the first to say that I really like the look of this, but I am curious to see how the carded figures will stand up on their own if displayed on a bookshelf. Nonetheless, they look great and you can see all the images and read more about this here, and be sure to share your opinions over in our forums.

Designer Diary #2 for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption
Designer Diary #2 for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of CorruptionFans across the galaxy have been playing the PC video game titled "Star Wars: Empire at War," and some fans loved it while others had mixed feelings about it. If you haven't tried it yet and you have a decent computer that can handle it, it would be worth picking up. GameSpot.com recently added a new article to their site titled "Diary #2 - Improving the Game," which is based on the new expansion pack titled "Forces of Corruption." This diary will give you a better understanding of the Underworld faction who is against the Rebellion and Empire. It explains why corruption is good, and that it is a much different way of playing your typical Star Wars video game. If you like causing trouble and being a thorn in people's sides, then playing the role for the Underworld would be right up your alley. Read the whole diary entry for yourself here.

Kenner's Effect on Today's Toy Industry
Kenner and Star WarsKenner was obviously the company that started it all for every Star Wars fan and collector out there, by creating a line of action figures and vehicles back in the late 70s. Many of us to the day have our original Star Wars toys that were all produced by Kenner, and the Kenner name alone should automatically make you think about the Star Wars universe and its effect on our lives. Not only has this company affected us, but it has also affected the way toys are made today. Read this interesting article that talks about Kenner's effect on today's toy industry.

Update from the 501st Legion:
Will you be the custodian of the stolen plans? San Diego Comic-Con attendees will become Rebels on the run from Imperial Stormtroopers as part of the 501st Legion's popular interactive Droid Hunt game. Participants can pick up a free Droid Badge at the 501st Fan Table on the Mezzanine level of the San Diego Convention Center on Friday, July 21st. Natalile Portman possible to play Indy's Daughter?
Will Harrison Ford be alive when this film is done?Natalie Portman cast to be Indy's daughter in the upcoming 4th installment of the Indiana Jones legacy? At a recent news conference, Karen Allen let slip that the part of Indy's daughter had already been cast and was awarded to Ms. Portman. Given the already close relationship between producer George Lucas and Natalie Portman, this would be a very logical choice. With more pieces falling into place concerning this movie, the anticipation is growing and we are very ready for Indy to hit the big screen once again! Feel free to discuss this in our forum. “Hey Troops! Sandtrooper Barve here and sorry I haven't posted in so long, but things have been moving slowly here. The Tatooine wave hit a while back, but stuff still disappears fast, but the one fig that remains elusive is the Luke Skywalker. I've scored everything else though luckily, and will be getting at least three more Sandtroopers for a diorama I'm working on. The transformers are peg warming big time here and I wish they would all sell already to make way for the good stuff. VOTC has been coming in on and off. With very few Luke or Biker Scouts though. Also still no sign of the Hunt for General Grievous or Clone Wars Gunship. Target is stock full of Skirmish at the Senate and Demise of Grievous though. Well hopefully I find what I want and you troops do to. United We Find!”

Sandtrooper Dylan Reports:
“Reporting from Santa Barbara, Just wanted to let all know I came home today to find a little white box in my mail and yes it was him, George all decked out in white armor. A great little gift to complete the UGH. On a store report, nothing is ever here; we have a Kmart and a KB Toys. That's it and local scalper cleans out every shipment day. I used go to Ventura Targets and try to run down the isles at 8am to beat scalpers but in the last year I have given in to case buying from e-tailers. I am very happy with all the Sideshow and Gentle giant pieces, which I have been focusing on of late, I can’t wait for all the new previews at SDCC! See you all there.”

“There has been nothing new in my area. Did go to the COSI Center in Columbus, Ohio to see the Star Wars showcase. It was a very amazing exhibit and I will get my pictures ready for everybody to see. Checked out a few Targets, Wal-Mart’s, and TRU near Columbus. Nothing I saw new in those stores, just some empty shelves or the latest wave. My main item I am looking for right now is the Hunt for General Grievous Battle Pack. My boys are asking for it for their new Gunship. Amazon canceled on me two weeks ago, now I have been trying to find a set with no luck at all. Please tell me there is a fellow Sandtrooper that can help me out with this problem? Collections Update: Sandtrooper Barve's Added
He really needs to get himself a RED lightsaber instead of this green one.One of our newest members, Sandtrooper Barve, has sent us nineteen photos of his Star Wars collection, and for only being fifteen years old it's already quite an amazing collection. It's nice seeing things that most people probably wouldn't have in their collection, such as all the various store displays, the Pepsi can collection from The Phantom Menace, LEGO sets and what looks like a script from The Empire Strikes Back. Check out all the photos of his collection here and while you're at it check out everyone else's in the Collections section.

Dewback Preview: The Droids we are Looking for!
Carrying on a tradition that started at Atlanta's Dragon-Con in 2004, Comic-Con attendees can look forward to becoming Rebel sympathizers on the run from Imperial Stormtroopers as part of the 501st Legion's Droid Hunt. Game participants who will be at Comic-Con on Saturday, July 22nd, can pick up a free Droid Badge at the 501st Fan Table on Friday, July 21st. Random players will receive Jedi Mind Trick cards which can turn away Stormtroopers for one encounter, and extend gameplay. As part of the game, players must surrender their badge when "caught" by the 501st Legion, but will receive a raffle ticket and get a complimentary badge at the end of the game. There are over 70 great prizes this year including an Anakin Skywalker Limited Edition Lightsaber generously donated by Master Replicas!
