As we get ready to decend upon Wizard World Chicago in a few short days, we have all of our guns locked and loaded. We are ready for whatever is in store for us this weekend. With lack of retailer presence we look forward to the Star Wars guests like Matthew Wood, Ray Park, and Daniel Logan. Look for team members near the Federation Toys booth where Doug Wangler a.k.a. Quinlan Vos will be appearing. For more check out our preview page for more details on the event. |
Sandtrooper Josh (a.k.a. jlcmsu) has delivered on his inspection of the new Sideshow 12-inch Exclusive Kit Fisto figure. The quality and overall detail of these figures continues to amaze us all. The sky is the limit on the future for the 12-inch line, as some of the newer pre-orders are simply jaw-dropping. Check out the entire review of the latest release and discuss it in our forums with other Troopers. |

“Hey Troopers, It's been awhile since my last recon but I went out this morning and I see not much has changed. I did go on leave to Comic Con in San Diego last week and that was an experience. If you haven't gone to one, make it a point to! The new products coming out are awesome. The designers have stepped up the detail to an even higher level. This fall and winter will be full of more excellent collectibles. Hasbro had a great display set up with too many new products to mention. Just believe me they will be great. Gentle Giants display was as good as it gets. Their Marketing and Sales staff was full tilt towards the future with some truly amazing Busts and Statues. There was this new Leia as Jabbas Slave statue that was as close to perfect as you can get. It is a great piece. The new Maquettes and Statues will keep your appetite for Star Wars satisfied. Sideshow put on a nice display and overall the Comic Con was a good time! I'll check back in soon! Until next time, stay frosty!”tpinney2@cox.net |
Hey Troopers we have another great custom from Sandtrooper Dan tonight. There is simply no limit when it comes to creativity and when Hasbro came out with all the Blackhole Hoopla lately, Dan decided to come up with a version of his own. Check out the entire photo gallery and discuss it in our forums with other Troopers. |

“I'm looking for help obtaining 1 loose Shock Trooper from the Skirmish set. With these now on super clearance prices, I'm hoping somebody out there can help me out. This group of collectors is great, always helped me out in the past, and I've helped a few as well. If any Trooper out there can help please feel free to drop me an email! There really hasn’t been that much to report on the local front, thanks again for all the help!”slavefett1@comcast.net |

“Hey guys Sandtrooper Bigmikehodge here with a long overdue store report from Cincinnati Toys R Us got in more case of the Scorch wave they also received some of there exclusive Battlepacks. Target has been bare lately so there pointless until resets are done most Wal-Mart’s are bare with only peg warmers on the shelves but I did locate the new endor wave this morning. The Florence, KY Wal-Mart had a whole end cap of figures. There were tons of Sandtroopers, and most of the Endor wave, the only thing that was hard to find was Palpatine I only found one on the whole end cap well that’s it for this store report keep up the good work United We Find!”MikeH802@cinci.rr.com |

“Well Troops it has been a long time since my last report. To be honest I really don’t have anything new to report on the wilds of WV other than rumors of the second H and V wave that is starting to make an appearance. There also seem to be some great deals on the VTSC Han, Greedo, and the demise of Grievous if you can find them at your targets. If you haven’t read the new Ewok report from the action figure review section you don’t know what you are missing. I also have to thank Hoth Chad, Darth Aussie, and Recon Sgt. for hooking me up with some great stuff this month. I still haven’t seen the Endor wave, but when I do I plan on picking up some Death Star gunners for the Troopers. Till then, United We Find!”sggroves@access.k12.wv.us |

“Bobafred chiming in from the west-end with Mustafar on me and Diego Comic-Con in the back window.... "X-tra crispy (Hasbro boy's you tickle me!) is the way of this land with the Hi 115's plus humidity. Buy now we have all put together our quarterly purchasing list, as some wait for final approval. Year in and year out we anticipate their fate, the mad twisted scramble to see which manufacture of Lucas Films has clocked our dollar. From Sideshow collectibles, to Gentle Giant, we just can’t wait, heck even Entertainment Earth knows how to agitate. We look at Hasbro and wonder why.... they throw us bones as we begin to cry, we then ask why- oh- why.... but to know avail just lame replies. Lets talk Comic-Con exclusives.... The shock trooper bust is looking great, but lacks in certain areas applications of red color paint. Over all packaging saves your hide. The Titanium (Darth Vader) Gold Star fighter is Super hot, just the way the Emperor set about his plot, so catch it if you can. Hey Troopers! Hasbro just sent us the answers to the four questions that were prior to Comic-Con but I'm sure you'll want to take a look here. While they were a little behind, we look forward to picking up where we left off and sending in questions again next week. You'll have to visit to the forums and drop whatever questions you may have! |

” With the literal bombs Steve Sansweet dropped in his annual presentation at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend one can really wonder if Star Wars couldn’t be stronger than ever. From topics ranging from the original trilogy DVDs to the 30th Anniversary Celebration that is sure to take us all by storm. What really got my interests stirred was the announcement of the 200 costumed; marching 501st Stormtroopers were being flown in from more than 20 countries for the Tournament of Roses Parade. Dustrho and I took part in a marching exercise a couple of weekends ago with the Midwest Garrison. Talk about giving back, Uncle George is going to have a great New Year’s present for some 200 lucky Troopers! For more check out the full story at the official site. |

Our own Sandtrooper SoCal Dom has sent us a report expanding a little further on what the official site did. For once I have some pretty good things to say about Hasbro and I really am very much looking forward to what is yet to come. Look for more photo galleries and reports from this event as we are still having difficulty hearing back from our team. Stay tuned to Sandtroopers.com for a recap of the events that went down the last four days. For more check out the entire report that Dom has prepared for us. |
The news continues to roll in and the future of Star Wars has never been brighter. Hasbro really accentuates that with their never-ending supply of paint! However you can learn more about their entire plan for the distant future now at the official site. For more check out the entire breakdown that has surfaced this weekend. |
It is finally time to drop the bomb we have been building since last year. Anyone who has crossed my path, knows how much I love a good party. Months of planning and plotting were put into the celebration that will kick off July 23rd, 2006. While it's not quite 30 prizes in 30 days, my attempt to up the ante was not in vain. We would like to thank all of our loyal Troopers who make Sandtroopers.com their Star Wars collecting home and we look forward to continuing the privilege of serving all of you. The prizes will be selected at random throughout the month. Much like this website, the prizes continue to get better every year. Good luck to all of you in the draw. I would also like to thank our sponsors and the many Troopers who came forward and donated prizes to the party. Stay tuned to this thread for more information. You must be a registered forum member to qualify. United We Find! |

“HothChad from central MN reporting that the Endor wave has been found up here at Wal-Mart today in central MN. Found parts of the wave at 3 out of 4 stores. Target is slowly marking down the Battlepacks, VTSC, and Demise of Grievous figures. Good luck to the rest of you Troopers in your search!”chadbarb@sherbtel.net |
Due to unforeseeable circumstances I would like to apologize for our lack of coverage at San Diego Comic-Con the last two days. Our team has had some serious technical obstacles and has had quite a time relaying the information back here to Sandtrooper HQ. While we do strive to be the leader in event coverage, sometimes mistakes are made and we hope to make up for it in the next few days! Until then take a look at what Sandtrooper SoCal Dom and Josh have put together from the last 48 hours! We look forward to steady reports throughout the rest of the weekend. |
In case you haven't already seen over at the Official Site, all Star Wars fans are able to download a stunning Star Wars poster crafted by Howard Chaykin. Only 1,000 prints were made of this poster, and is definitely one of the more difficult pieces you could try adding to your collection. However, it is now in Adobe Acrobat PDF format for you to download for free. Just print it out and hang it up on a wall. Even though it's not the real-deal, it still is one attractive piece to display on any wall. Read more about this here. |
One of the most anticipated sequels to a Star Wars video game will be coming out in less than two months, and the Official Site has decided to tease us with more screenshots and background information regarding this new game. LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy is based on the obvious original three films that were released in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and you'll soon be able to fulfill your destiny brick by brick. The scene that I'll be looking forward to the most will be the Battle of Hoth, as it's my favorite scene out of all six Star Wars films. Check out the full story for yourself here, and make sure you visit to the forums to share your thoughts about this upcoming game. |
Coming soon: Republic Commando 7-Pack Exclusive!! Scorch, Sev, Fixer, and Boss, along with Sun Fac and two Geonosian Warriors make up this fantastic boxed set! This is selling for $33.99, which isn't too bad considering you'll be getting a total of seven figures. Hurry on over to StarWarsShop.com now to get your set, which is scheduled to be released sometime in January 2007! |
LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment announced yesterday that Star Wars Galaxies is getting tweaked a bit for the better... we hope. This new package known as The Complete Online Adventures will include all of the following: the base game, Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, along with all three of the game's expansions (Jump to Lightspeed, Rage of the Wookiees, and Trials of Obi-Wan). Unbelievably this will only cost a mere $29.99, which is one incredible deal that shouldn't be passed up. There's many other many other new features and content to this, and you can check it all out for yourself here. So will you be heading out to stores to buy this new bundle? Let us know over in our forums. |
Since all six Star Wars films are now available on DVD, many Star Wars fans across the galaxy have watched them back-to-back, to get the full enjoyment out of these two trilogies. I, for one, haven't had the pleasure of doing this myself, but I am planning on doing it this weekend with a few friends. Members of the Quad-City Rogue Squadron, based out of the Quad Cities in Illinois, recently got together to watch eighteen hours worth of Star Wars goodness. But, these fans also help out the community by participating in fund raisers and other volunteer services. Read the full story here. |
“Hey Troops, it's been a long time since my last report. With the excitement of ComicCon upon us, I "figured" it'd be a good time to update everyone with respect to what's been happening this year up in Canada. So far so good - we've received every basic figure so far, up to and including he complete Tatooine wave - all on TriLogo cards (including all 10 of the badly-distributed Ultimate Galactic Hunt versions). We've gotten the new Vintage Saga figures, and some of us even have our mail-away George Lucas Troopers already. We've also been lucky enough to get the TRU Clone Wars Gunship and Hunt For Grievous Battlepacks, but (as per usual) have been left out in the cold when it comes to the Target Exclusives. If you happen to see the Demise of Grievous figure or Senate Battlepacks on clearance, keep us Canuckleheads in mind.”jjreason@telus.net |

“Greetings from the heartland of Gods country. Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Not a bad day for the ole Scalperhunter. Target and TRU have absolutely zilch. Imagine my surprise. Wal-Mart on the other hand had a few of the Endor figures in stock. I was able to pick up C-3PO, Chief Chirpa, Death Star Gunner and Emperor Palpatine. In the Titanium line I brought home a Sandcrawler, the blue A-Wing and the Executor. Wal-Mart also had one TF Millennium Falcon. I passed on this since I can't justify buying it for $35.00 when I can get 2 single TF ships for $15.00 a piece. That's all for now. To everyone that's headed to San Diego I look forward to your reports. United We Find.”rrl1125@ccr.net |
“Wal-Mart is the spot for the Endor wave this week in northeast Illinois. The Quarry’s Wal-Mart in Hodgkins/Countryside, Il (LaGrange) had three of the five figures, with one each C-3PO, Chief Chirpa, and Moff Jerjerrod. They also had an unopened case of new Galactic Heroes. In the past week or so, the same Wal-Mart has gotten large drops of Tatooine wave, with sometimes eight or more Sandtroopers among the stock. The Target down the strip saw the vehicle assortment with Vader’s TIE Fighter, Mace’s Starfighter. I also received my two Lucas troopers in the mail Friday to complete the set of this year’s vintage run.”jason.meyers@emdiesels.com |
“Well it is hotter than Mustafar! I just looked at the toy re-set for the 30th at Target. I am sad to report the Heroes and Villains will get 1 row Basic gets two. And the rest is Titanium, and the Galactic Heroes. So it looks like any "new" items will be during a revision when they are made available. Oh and the Tatooine wave except the Sandtrooper is really warming the pegs.”kmclark14@comcast.net |
Inspired by the drones tha follow Darth Maul and the Sandtroopers, similar drones are being tested on the International Space Station to see whether their technology is suitable to be used in a new generation of "smart" satellites. The nine pound spheres use carbon dioxide expelled from their thrusters to maneuver around the ISS. These satellites will be cheap and can fly in formation, so they can be thrown up into space by the shuttle-load. Check out the story here. |
The Official Site has recently added a great guide for this years San Diego Comic-Con event, and if you plan on attending this you will NOT want to leave home without it. This guide is jam-packed with tons of information, broken down with a day-by-day itinerary, letting you know exactly what's going on so that you don't end up missing a single thing. There sure is a lot of Star Wars activity taking place there, so you'll definitely want to print this out. Check it out for yourself here. |
The very well done Essential Guides by Del Ray Books will be releasing this Fall a new addition to the mix, with the latest guide titled The New Essential Guide to Alien Species. These books have been wonderful additions to my collection, and I think every Star Wars fan should have these in their collection as well. The artwork alone makes them worth picking up, but it's the artwork and the written content that make these so invaluable. Read more about this here. |
Comic fans across the galaxy, prepare to be bombarded by an onslaught of exciting new comic books by Dark Horse Comics. Coming this October include the following: Star Wars Legacy #5, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic #10 and Star Wars: Dark Times #1 (first of a five-part story). The first comic book mentioned, The Dark Times #1, should be a great read as it covers events between Episodes III and IV. Read the full article here. |
The lovely Kristen Bell will be playing the role of a Star Wars fan in the upcoming SCI FI Channel Fanboys. The show is described as the following: "Bell plays Zoe, one of several fans who set out in 1999 from the Midwest to California to honor the wish of their dying friend to break into George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch and watch Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace before the movie's worldwide release." Sounds like it could be a really good show. Fanboys is scheduled to be released sometime in February of next year. Read more about this here. |

Three years ago LucasArts released one of the best Star Wars video games of all time, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, for the Xbox gaming system. Out of all the Star Wars games that have been released, I do think this is one of the best ones yet. KOTOR2 was also great, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing KOTOR3 come out (whenever that may be). So, share your thoughts and experiences of this game over in our forums. |
“Today was a good day for the Ol' Scholar! My Dewback, Cleofus Brown, and I saddled up and rode throughout NW Indiana in search of the Mace Windu Jedi Starfighter. Coming up empty handed on that front, I filled my saddlebags with other goodies! Wal-Mart in Merrillville had the Endor wave, so I picked up Moff JerJerrod and Death Star Gunner, leaving The Emperor, Chief Chirpa, and C-3PO. Wal-Mart in Portage yielded the latest wave of Titanium Ships, Super Star Destroyer, blue A-Wing fighter, and the Jawa Sandcrawler! Happy with my latest scores, I retired due to the heat and hit the beach! On another note, I, too, saw signs at Target in Highland for a "Collector's Edition Darth Vader", but the date on it was 3/15/05, so I thought it might have to do with the old Lava Vader. Well, that's all I found today. To read more on why I did NOT buy the rest of the Endor wave and see pics of what I did get, click here!”pat@sandtroopers.com |
“Yesterday I went to Target. While there I saw a little sign with the Star Wars Actions figures. It reads, Collectors Edition Darth Vader action figure is limited to 1 per guest. I asked an employee what this was. He replied that it is an exclusive Darth Vader action figure. He told me that the figure looks like all the other Darth Vader figures. That it comes in the same type package as the basic figures are in but has a plastic case (clam shell). He said that this morning several Star Wars collectors were waiting outside the store all wanting to get this figure. They sold out within minutes he said. So upon finding this information I went to several other Target stores. Out of seven stores I stopped in three of them had this sign with the Star Wars figures. With my cell phone I took a picture of this sign at the Southport Rd and I-65 Target store. When I asked about this figure I was basically told the same story about this figure. I suspect this is the same Vader that is being reported at Galactic Hunter.com. At the bottom of the sign the DPCI# reads 000-00-0000 so I am guessing this is a one time deal. As for the price, I have no clue since there was not price tag and I did not think of asking.”david@sandtroopers.com |

One of the more recent mini-busts by Gentle Giant, Qui-Gon Jinn, has made its way into our Gentle Giant visual guide. The detail on this is nicely done there sure seems to be an awful amount of shine to the look of this bust. Maybe it's the lighting and maybe it's not. Check out this new bust and all the other images that Binks has put together here. |

Hey troopers! Hasbro just sent us the answers to the four questions that were recently sent to them, and you'll want to take a look here. While they are a little behind, they promise to catch up and reveal much at Comicon very soon, as they are not taking any more questions for the next two weeks. The questions that were asked involve Bai Ling, Jeremy Bulloch, a possible new cloud car vehicle and also a possible new Dagobah playset. Did we get the answers we were all hoping to hear? You'll have to visit to the forums and check out for yourself! |
Most of us who have subscriptions for the Star Wars Insider magazine and Hypespace have heard of their special section dedicated to the fans known as Banth Tracks. Well, I recently marched in Bartlett's 4th of July parade for the Midwest Garrison, and our story made it into the recent online edition of Banth Tracks. I am actually in one of the photos that were submitted, but unfortunately you can barely see the top portion of my helmet. Even though I wasn't the center of attention in that snapshot, I still can say that I at least made it in Bantha Tracks. Check out all the photos here, but remember you must be a Hyperspace member in order to view this. |

What shouldn't be a surprise to anyone in the Star Wars universe, Hasbro's numbers have dramatically declined in the past year. Last year they make $147 million in the first quarter of last year, where this year they only made $51 million. Of course that was bound to happen, especially since Revenge of the Sith came out in theaters last year which helped boost sales on new products. Hasbro does have exclusive rights to manufacture Star Wars toys until 2018, so I'm curious how those numbers will look in years to come. Read the full article here. |

“DarthPharaoh checking in. It’s been a while but there hasn’t been a whole lot to report. Mos Eisley trickled in slowly and now most of it.... except for the Sandtroopers (naturally)...are pretty easy to find. Mace’s Starfighter has started to show at Target’s here though I haven’t seen it yet and the Titanium Ultra AT-AT has found it’s way into my collection via TRU. This is another great piece from a line (Ultra only) I’m afraid isn’t going to last. I hope SDCC proves me wrong but it’s a gut feeling. Bad thing here is that there’s been nothing new on the basic figure front since Floppy Hat Luke and the boys showed up in late May. Nearly 2 months. What’s the deal Hasbro? Good luck to all, United We Find.”djohnson@internap.com |
Just when you were starting to get used to the look of the current packaging, Hasbro has just unveiled what is in store for 2007 in regards to the packaging of Star Wars toys. If you thought the look for the Revenge of the Sith lineup of toys was bold, you haven't seen anything yet. The theme behind this new look is based primarily on angles. I'd like to be the first to say that I really like the look of this, but I am curious to see how the carded figures will stand up on their own if displayed on a bookshelf. Nonetheless, they look great and you can see all the images and read more about this here, and be sure to share your opinions over in our forums. |
Fans across the galaxy have been playing the PC video game titled "Star Wars: Empire at War," and some fans loved it while others had mixed feelings about it. If you haven't tried it yet and you have a decent computer that can handle it, it would be worth picking up. GameSpot.com recently added a new article to their site titled "Diary #2 - Improving the Game," which is based on the new expansion pack titled "Forces of Corruption." This diary will give you a better understanding of the Underworld faction who is against the Rebellion and Empire. It explains why corruption is good, and that it is a much different way of playing your typical Star Wars video game. If you like causing trouble and being a thorn in people's sides, then playing the role for the Underworld would be right up your alley. Read the whole diary entry for yourself here. |
Kenner was obviously the company that started it all for every Star Wars fan and collector out there, by creating a line of action figures and vehicles back in the late 70s. Many of us to the day have our original Star Wars toys that were all produced by Kenner, and the Kenner name alone should automatically make you think about the Star Wars universe and its effect on our lives. Not only has this company affected us, but it has also affected the way toys are made today. Read this interesting article that talks about Kenner's effect on today's toy industry. |
Star Wars: Legacy hit the stands today with the 2nd issue in this hard-hitting new series from Jan Duursema and John Ostrander.
