Review posted
Hey Troops, I just posted my latest review. Matthew Stover's Shatterpoint is the newest Star Wars book to hit the shelves. It also marks the first Clone Wars novel to reach mass market. Starring Mace Windu, this one is the story of a real bad@$$ Jedi. If you like Samuel Jackson and stories about Jed's who kick butt and take names later, this story is for you. Sandtrooper Danny B. reports:
"Danny B. here from So. Cal with actual news to report. The TRU in Montebello had a few of the Clone Three packs so I picked one up and checked the aisle one more time before I left and they were gone. They also had the Imperial Four Pack and some selected figures on clearance for $1.90 which were Super Battle Droid, Zam Wesell, Amanaman, and Leia with Sail Barge Gun.

"Also, the K-B in the Lapuente Hills Mall will be having a Star Wars Extranganza today. Members of the 501st Garrison, as well as members of The Inland Empire Strikes Back will be there. I hope to see Troops who live in the area out there. It will be from 12pm -4 pm PDT. I should be wearing a 'Let The Wookie Win' T-Shirt."

STAR WARS: More of the wave 5 Unleashed figures - Luke, Darth Sidious, and Obi-Wan have arrived and 5 of the older Action Fleet vehicles including the AT-AT, Luke's Snowspeeder, Millenium Falcon have been restocked

Transformers: Hard Hero's very nice Wheeljack bust is now in stock. Re-issue Skids & Tracks, Black Starscream, Hasbro Re-Issue Optimus Prime, and a few more vintage Japanese transformers have also arrived or been restocked (we will try to get more if these sell out quickly)

Takara's T/F COLLECTION latest releases have just arrived and they are very well done as usual. 09 Starscream comes with a hand held sized Megatron in pistol mode and has a new color scheme. A DVD is also included with Starscream. 08 Inferno is also very well done, and both come with awesome Dreamwave artwork on the collector box

Here is an external hyperlink to a gallery of photos of the new T/F Collection Starscream. This toy is the 'ANIME' style re-issue, meaning it is designed and colored to better represent details of Starscream that were seen in the US cartoon. A nice touch is the included Optimus Prime fist for Optimus to hold the Megatron gun. Gallery by REMY.

Sandtrooper Moshe reports:
"Hey folks, I saw lots of the Clone Trooper army and Droid Army 3 packs (and a few others) at the TRU in Clinton, MD. Additionally, they had lots of the imperial accessory packs (with Darth, Stormtrooper and Imperial trooper)."

Sandtrooper bigmikehodge reports:
"REBEL VICTORY AT TOYS R US !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYONE DON'T GIVE UP, FIGHT THE SCALPERS! Hi troopers, after missing the 3 packs at 3 different TRUs in Cincinnati, Ohio, I was told to go to the Western Hills store by a helpful store employee. At the Western Hills store an employee told me to come back around 9 pm to see whether the truck had been unloaded. I did and he said they had about 4 skids left on the truck but to come back today at 9 am. I did and scored the Clone Wars three packs. They had 4 sets of three and the good thing was that friends got the other sets for their collection. So the scalpers were "Denied" the stuff from this store. Patience and Perserverence pays off. Keep fighting troopers."

... and there you have it.

Mutual of Omaha's AISLE KINGDOM with Sandtrooper Lin Que:
"Lin Que from Omaha. Well it's a few days shy of July and the newest thing I've seen is the Imperial 4 pack. I called Wal-Mart and Target and NO ONE had any idea why there weren't new Star Wars figs. I REFUSE to believe that no one knows anything. Anyway, I have a business proposition to some Troopers. I am considering breaking down and ordering a case from Entertainment Earth (once they get back in stock) of figs. If someone wanted to go in with me and buy a different case (case B to my case A), we could then trade figs. If I remember correctly there are like 4 or five cases so far plus the upcoming Clone Wars stuff. If anyone is interested let me know."

Sandtrooper THE CHAD reports:
"Jason, some great news. Toys 'R' Us just got the Clone Wars figures. Some bad news - they where really banged up either in transit or when being unloaded from the truck. I was able to find the Destroyer Droid with launcher. That was the only one that wasn't badly damaged. You were right; we did get them.

"Here is an auction of an Anakin Skywalker that I found on ebay. I wanted to let you know. It says it's the 'original non-whiney Anakin from Return of the Jedi.' Take care."

That's good news, Chad! See, I rather had a feeling that North Alabama was due. I'm glad you didn't give up!

"Hi everyone, nothing new around Cleveland, but I do have an extra Han & Luke Trash Compactor set if anyone wants it for cost plus shipping, or trade for some newer figures."

Sandtrooper Danny B. reports:
"Danny B. here from So. Cal. I would just like to tell all those who are frustrated not to give up. I know your frustration because I work in retail and I can't even get the figures I'm looking for. Even when they come in I still have to fight the scalpers to get the ones I need. I just found 2003 figures a few weeks ago and we are already almost seven months into the year. It frustrates me when Hasbro keeps sending stuff like pallets of PlayDoh but will not send any new figures. There are three forces at work here, retailers' lack of information to keep new figures stocked, Hasbro's 'I don't care' attitude about it and those scalpers who will buy everything up. It is tough right now Troops, but hang in there, unite, and if you have a friend hook him up."

Sandtrooper RH2 reports:
"I found the new figures: Aayla Secura, Bariss Offee, Red Battle Droid, Lama Su, Yoda and Chian, Ashla and Jempa, SP-4 and JN-66 droids, Padme Droid Factory and Imperial officers, at of all places K-Mart in Northeast Florida. They had one entire case of this wave on the counter. I picked them all up, one of each for me and I am offering the few extras that I have to any interested troopers for cost plus shipping. They are not entirely mint the blisters have a few minor dings in them. the cards are mint though (a lot of the 2003 figures have come this way right from the factory).

"I also found the new deluxe Spider Droid and Battle Droid builder at the Targets as well. Our Toys 'R' Us has the Imperial 4-packs and the Anakin/Dooku speeder bikes, as well as the 12" Lando Skiff and the AT-ST driver. No sign of the new 12" Han though. I also have a few extra of some of the new figures I would be willing to offer to fellow troopers for cost plus shipping. Just e-mail me with your wants and needs. I usually hunt for Star Wars figures once a week in my area. Let me know whether I can help you out. MTFBWY, Keep the faith."

Sandtrooper Jimsjedi reports:
" I found 2 of the new Clone Wars packs last night at the TRU in Auburn, MA. I really do like the new packaging on these. I found the Destroyer Droid Battle Launcher, and the Droid Army 3 pack of Super Battle Droid, Destroyer Droid, And Battle Droid (red). These are listed under the "Separatist Forces." A clerk told me that they did have the Clone Trooper Army, but someone got there right before I did. I will check out another TRU when I leave work tomorrow, and will post if any finds come through. Thanks."

Sandtrooper BIG MIKE reports:
"Hey guys, got some news. Target on Fields Ertl Road received the Snowtrooper wave of figures. The bad news is one person had the whole load in their shopping cart. They will probably be at one of the many flea markets at a huge price. Oh well, keep checking. Also just wanted to say that the Earth Toy Mall is an awesome store here in Cincy, Ohio. Oh well, bigmike out! later."

Sandtrooper OKC reports - Don't Let the Scum Win:
"To all those troopers who are feeling hopeless, I have long since given up collecting everything due to time and money, I only collect certain things and get them online. However, I can offer this suggestion, make a connection with someone at Target or Wal-Mart, either the Dept. Mgr. or the one who puts out the toys. Explain to them that you are a "collector" and you will be happy with one of every figure. This might not work, however when I was Manager for Hardlines at a now defunct retailer, I held figures for trusted customers and knew who the scalpers were. I would not put out the new figures til the weekend and only a few at a time. I am frustrated just like everyone else. I only was able to get the new Vader and Boba due to a bonus at work. If you love the hobby don't give up, Try every angle. DON'T LET THE SCUM WIN ... "

Sandtrooper THE CHAD reports:
"I couldn't agree with Spice more. You all read my posts. People are finding the Clone Wars 3 packs at TRU. We won't see them until 5 months from now. I think Hasbro cares not. The people who run our stores are complete morons, pure and simple. Should I give up the game or keep slugging it out? I guess there is an up side; I have been finding some nice deals on vintage figures on ebay and a place called The Earth Toy Mall. Check out this latest score from ebay. It's HAN SOLO in Carbonite Block w/Special Collector's Coin.

"I also wanted to pass on some bad news. Brian's toys was offering a pre-order for the upcoming Sandcrawler. I called a week ago and they told me that Hasbro is pulling it. In other words Brian's Toys is no longer taking pre-orders for it. I don't know whether it is still on tap or not but that's what I heard. Is Hasbro still making this? Take care."

Don't give up yet Chad - can things get any worse than they have been? I'd have to say that North 'bama is due.

Area Report:
Hey Troops, If there is a bright side to this SW Collecting universe then I am furthest from it. There have been no new figures while people are scoring new package Luke? It is sad, I think Hasbro should start giving Star Wars collectors fuel coupons since one can spend tank after tank to only return with nothing! The only thing I have found in the last 2 weeks is the 12" Gammorean Guard at the Kenosha, WI K-B and I'd love to find the guy that beat the *^&$ outta the boxes before I got there. Maybe it is time to tell Target, Wal-Mart and Toys R Suck to stick it. With the occasional exclusive there are many avenues one can take to stay in the game. Why deal with bad service time and time again? Best of luck to all of you in your searches. Kick A$% and take names, Spiceowan Out!

Mutual of Omaha's AISLE KINGDOM with Sandtrooper Lin Que:
"Lin Que from Omaha, Nebraska with a Midwest report. Target is finally getting on the ball but so far they have the figs from late last year - Yoda High Council, Destroyer Droid. I'm hoping this is a good sign and newer stuff will be floating in.

"A few weeks ago I asked whether anyone was going to a convention and could snag a Boba Fett. With all the frustration going on around here in the SW world I would think we'd pull together and hook one another up. So far the only person who's going to a convention wants to trade a Fett for some rare Droids figure. Give me a frickin break!!! Son coulda been like "sure I'll hook you up" but he wants to hold out for somebody to give up a fig that goes for thousands on ebay for a fig that (hopefully) won't turn into a Toy Fair Vader. You might as well go to ebay with that mess.

"I see troops scoring figs and believe me I'm happy for you all but I ask that you think about those that are struggling. We are here because we all have something in common ... we love SW and we don't want to pay sky high prices from scalpers. I'm asking those folks finding stuff to pick up two, offer them up here at Sandtroopers and help make folks that haven't seen JACK feel part of the game again. Your Wal-Mart / Target / Toys 'R' Us hooking you up with figs? Hook one of us up!!! I don't want to deal with ebay (have you seen the prices?!?!). Or Internet sites (some who are advertised here)? If someone is going to a convention let us know!!! I'd personally be more than happy to pay cost, shipping, and even a little extra for the hook up. I want to thank the Troop out there who helped me with the Research Droids and my fellow Omaha Trooper for the great info. Help us out Troops especially you Left Coasters. I'd rather give one of you my money here than some jerkoff scalper on ebay. Think about it. Lin Que out."

Word. I realize very few Troops are actually finding stuff at retail, but if you are, please hear the call. United, we find! Feel it!

"Some of the new figures have been popping up over here lately (Simi Valley, California). I currently have dispatched Mr. Jawa and his buddies to make daily runs to our local Target (and they have been educated on the art of hiding figures). Hopefully I'll have a few for sale/trade soon."

I wish Mr. Jawa the best of luck with his secret stash. On a related subject - stop hiding figures Matt Large!

Sandtroopers.com Global War on Scalpers:
Last week saw some Troopers out there in Trooperland hitting the aisles extra hard, so special kudos to Troopers Jorge Perez from Boston, Eric Gensler of Buffalo, Donna in South California, Chad Ryan in North Alabama, and Sandtroopers.com's Count Matchew down in Maryland. Thanks to all the Troops who struck hard, fast, and faded away into the night!

The scalper HAS NOT won! We keep our friends close and our enemies closer. If I see you in the aisles I will assault you dude. That being said, we do not encourage violence toward scalpers or anyone else for that matter!

Sandtrooper THE CHAD - Sniping Report:
"I was trying to bid on this Chewbacca and lost. Can you find out who kept beating me to the punch? With this sniping going on, I will never win an auction out right. How do you combat that? This sniping stuff is a little unfair. A lot of folks seem to have an advantage. How do they do it, getting it so close by seconds? I am a little mad and baffled. Oh well, I did get a couple of cool things with the Buy it now feature. I did win a recarded Fett with a high bid of 90 bucks. You know that Walrusman that I got? That was won by what I call a straight auction. I was the only bidder with that. It came from Hong Kong. On a different note, I read on Sandtroopers that TRU is getting the Clone Trooper 3 packs. The way our TRU works we won't see them. California will get everything, so will Cherry Hill, NJ. Thanks for the assistance!"

Chad and a lot of Troops have turned to getting Vintage Star Wars items on ebay lately as an alternative to hunting for the new product. Sniping is a fact of online auctions, so you may as well arm yourself and 'be in the game, but not OF the game.' Check out these sites to learn the finer points of sniping, and, moreover, how to protect yourself from other snipers! After you read these pages you will say 'I've got protection, now I need affection.' And, for all you true Sniper freaks out there, check these out. You don't actually NEED these to be a good sniper, but here are the real tools for the Star Wars collector. The first three listed are internet-driven sniping services, and the others are remote bidding programs that connect to ebay: ESnipe, Vrane, BidBlaster, Cricket Jr., AuctionMagic, ISnipeIt, Snipe Plus, and Mercenary v0.0.

Sandtrooper Jedi Dom reports:
"Hi Troops, I just got back from Disney World. This might be old news, but I don't remember seeing it: you don't have to enter Disney's MGM park to buy the Star Tours figs. You can buy them at the Downtown Disney toy store called 'Once Upon a Toy.' This place has all the Star Tours figs as well as the Starspeeder 3000. You don't even have to pay for parking. MTFBWY."

Thanks much Dom! Sandtrooper Nexu's Attack saw the toys at 'Once Upon a Toy' as well, but he also went to the park that day. I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to pump money into a huge multinational corporation however, Disney either for that matter (wink-wink).

Sandtrooper OKC reports:
"While checking competitors' prices for Harry Potter Saturday (we at Zany are cheaper), I came across the 3 packs of Clone Wars figures at Toys 'R' Us in Cherry Hill, NJ. The Clone Troopers would be great if they had articulation. They had a lot there. I don't collect everything, just Darth Vader, Boba, Jango and Maul. I can't keep up but do like to keep myself informed. Wal-Mart in Burlington had the Han and Boba wave, but they were all bent and smashed, obviously a case of sabotage. Has anyone ever ordered from Alliance Collectibles? I sent them an inquiry a few days ago and have not heard back. That's it from here."

While Jedieric in NY finds all the Yoda and Padawans and everything, we in Huntsville, Alabama will never get them again. If we do the scalper will get all of them. It isn't worth it anymore. I am giving up. So much for a fun hobby. The battle is lost. I will try in vain but it is almost the end of June with nothing new. I have had enough. I hope the scalpers are happy. I quit. On the lighter side, our KB got the Gamorrean Guard. I didn't get it. Take care."

And there you have it.

"Hello troops! Just wanted to let all of you in Western NY know that Target has the new figures (Aayla, Barriss, Ashla & Jempa, Yoda & Chian, Lama Su, Red Battle Droid, Library Droids, Imperial Officer (blonde hair), and Padme). KB has the 12" G Guards ($29) and they also have the playskool sets for cheap!! (falcon $25, x-wing $10). Good luck guys!!

"Also, for any of you who might remember me as jedimastereric, I am now jedieric5519@aol.com. Feel free to drop me an e-mail if you are in the area and I'll try to keep those store reports coming. MTFBWY."

Sandtrooper Jorge Perez reports:
"More Boston News! Yes, I stopped by the Target in Sommerville yesterday evening (19th) and there was the complete Coll. 2 Lama Su wave. I just bought the Officer and the Padawans that I was missing. All the others were still on the pegs at around 3 PM. So, again, be patient. Now we are only waiting for Coll. 1 2003!!! Also, plenty of 12" Gamorreans at KB in Watertown."

Sandtrooper Young George Lucas reports:
"Hey, folks Young George Lucas here. I'm going to sell most of my 12" STAR WARS figures. There are about 45 in all - some going back to the Collectors Series in the mid-nineties up to the Saga line. If you are interested e-mail me and I'll send you the list, and if interested, you can make me an offer. Also, the Target by me (in Spring Hill, Kansas) finally got in a bunch of new Saga figures. Yippee!"

Sandtrooper jedichirp reports:
"I stopped at my local K-B Toyworks on East St. in Indianapolis, Indiana on Thursday and found some goodies. For those of you that need the Playskool SW sets, they had 4 Falcon boxed sets for $25 (I got one, finally!!) and the 3 little carded sets. I also found 4 Deluxe Clone Troopers w/Speeder Bikes that I bought. I am in need of most of the new wave figs and would be willing to trade Clones with Bikes for some new figs. Anyway, good luck hunting."

Cloud City has just received stock of virtually every new item from Saga Collection and Clone Wars. Hello troops, I went to my local Taget in Waldorf, MD today and they had a bunch of the new figures. Aayla, Barriss, Ashla & Jempa, Yoda & Chian, Lama Su, Red Battle Droid, Library Droids, Imperial Officer (blond hair), and Padme. No sign of the Han and Chewie wave but hopefully this means they will hit here soon too. Good luck troops...PEACE

Timothy Zahn's new novel
Hey Troops, The Official Site has just updated with some news on Timothy Zahn's new novel, Survivor's Quest. This story will cover Luke and Mara Jade Skywalker's trip to the planet Nirauan to uncover the mystery of the Outbound Flight, a doomed Jedi expedition of the Old Republic destroyed by Thrawn. From the description, it seems this story will happen before the NJO, but after Zahn's last duology. I have to admit I was a little disappointed to learn this. I was under the assumption Zahn's new story would cover the actual Outbound Flight. Of course you know what happens when you make an assumption, you make an @$$ out of you and umption. Anyway, click here for more information.

Sandtrooper jadesfire reports:
"Something new to report but don't get too excited. The Target in St. Charles, Illinois had the new Padme, Bariss Offee, red Battle Droid, Research Droids, and Imperial Officer (blonde hair). I nabbed the Offee. The Target in Winfield on Roosevelt had Lama Su and Imperial Officer (blonde hair). Most were well picked over but it looks as though new stuff is on the way only in limited numbers. Target in St. Charles still had Research Droids, Imperial Officer, and red Battle Droid after I left at 12:45. I am going to Kane County this weekend. Who knows what I will find there. Good luck!!! My question is who has been beating me to the punch at these stores and what time are you going? Later."

Sandtrooper THE CHAD reports:
"To anyone going to Gen Con in July. I am unable to go. I am in desperate need of the Silver Fett. I will pay cost and for shipping. If you would like, I have a Silver R2-D2 I can trade. This will be greatly appreciated!

"It is a losing battle Here in Huntsville, Alabama. I have missed the Yoda Padawan assortment twice because I have to work on the weekends, believe it or not at a Target warehouse. Before you say "well, you work at a Target ware house," I have been to this Target store. They have 2 different DCIP's for Star Wars figures - Collection 1 and 2. With different figures on an assortment it is probably difficult if not impossible to find out what figures are in what assortment. This is another reason why I am starting to throw in the towel. Also, did you see the auction for the Toy Fair Vader? $499? The guy selling him must be insane. Look at the price the guy is selling him for. This is high way robbery. Man, these people who bid on ebay are cutthroats. Is there any wat of combating that? Well, that's all for now. Thanks."

Sandtrooper Jedi Hitch reports:
"Hi Troops! I just arrived back from vacation on the west side of Washington State and I thought since I had time to do some roaming over there I thought I'd do a Western Washington report:

K-B: "I noticed a few of the earlier 2003 figs at a K-B in Auburn. Most K-B Stores are getting in lots more of the Playskool sets in, but the Playskool Millennium Falcon I saw only at North Bend (they had a dozen)."

Wal-Mart: "Other than a few Saga Rebel Troopers and a couple of Imperial Officers scattered about (Bremerton and Edmonds/Alderwood area) they were pretty dry. I did notice that one of the Walmart stores (Auburn) had marked down the Action Fleet ships to $9.00. I know that's only a buck less but it may be a sign that Wal-Mart is done with them."

Toys "R" Us: "Sad. 'Nuff said."

Target: "Best place to get figures. I saw the new Han and Chewie figs at the Issaquah Target and one lone Boba Fett at Gig Harbor. But the coolest find was at Silverdale. They had gotten in the Yoda and Padawan figs (and sold out) but there was a Red Battle Droid left for me! I NEVER thought I'd see this guy at retail! On a side note, Target is a great place to find the new and hard to find Lord of the Rings figures. I picked up a Twilight Frodo at Tacoma as well as the 12" Arwen in the red box in Gig Harbor."

Whew! A lot of places to hit but it was a lot of fun. That's it for now!"

"Hey Troopers, Gamorrean Guards hitting Lower Michigan. Ann Arbor K-B received 2 cases, 8 figures total. The same truck was at Adrian and heading to Auburn Hills. I can only guess to drop off more Guards. Other than that, nothing new. Let's not forget about our Troops overseas."

Local area finds:
This is for all Maryland troops. I went to K-B Toys in Waldorf today and they had some of the newer waves. They had 3 Aayla Secura, 3 Barriss Offee, 2 Yoda and Chian, and the rest were peg warmers. There is a buy 1 get 1 free promotion going on so now is your chance to get caught up. Also TRU in Waldorf had about 5-7 Imperial 4 packs and Wally world had nothing new. So as my good friend Spice would say, KICK @$$ and TAKE NAMES!!!

Hey Troops, I just wanted to let you know that Wal-Mart has the newest Star Wars novel cheaper than anyone else I have seen. I bought it today for $17.96, which is more than 30% off the cover price. I have seen this at more than one Wally World, so I am guessing it is nationwide. If you haven't purchased this one yet, head to your closest Wal-Mart. I also saw the TIE Bomber for $19.00 on Wednesday. I went back on Friday, deciding to get it, and the shelf showed they had been marked down further to $15.00, but they were sold out. Alas, I waited too long. Oh well, I was waffling on buying this one or not since it was just a slightly different paint job and new packaging. Still no sign of new figures other than the Toys "R" Us exclusive Imperial 4-pack. Lafayette has been dry for a long, long time.

Sandtrooper Dan's Digital Dioramas:
Troops, here is our first batch of Dan's DIGITAL DIORAMAS and SANDTROOPER OBSERVATIONS. DIGITAL DIORAMAS feature film stills with Hasbro toys dubbed in where the real life actor would normally appear, making for a fantastic quasi-diorama. SANDTROOPER OBSERVATIONS continue the tradition of 'separated at birth' and other singularities that are too compelling to overlook as coincidence.

Click on any thumb for the full size imagery. As our archive grows, all stills will be available in one large library.

Sandtrooper Jorge Perez reports:
"Hello Troops! Jorge Perez from Boston, it has been a while ... not much time and $ for collecting, just catching up. Friday 13th, I found remnants of the Padawan wave at Target in Watertown, bought the Lama Su that I was missing, still on the peg is a Red battle droid (and a deluxe super battle droid builder) and also I hid a Yoda with padawan on the Harry Potter toys for the troops. I found also the other six of that case (minus officer and Ashla and Lama) at KB in Brookline. So, 2003 are out, be patient; so far I have only seen Coll. 2 figures. Also, most K-B's have the 12" Gamorrean guards, plenty. Any Massachusetts collectors drop me a line so we could help each other. Peace!"

Glad to hear from you again Jorge! I am intrigued by the concept of hiding figures; I've done it, others do it, some even chastise this practice of stashing toys in secret spots. If it helps someone else, or yourself later, why not?

Sandtrooper THE CHAD's Fett Free-For-All Feeding Frenzy:
"Just wanted to let you know that the Silver Fett has hit ebay. Here they are, ranging from $65 - $90. As I reported earlier, Lisa Stevens told me that they will be available on the Fan Club site.

"Along with not finding the new figures, I haven't seen any of the new Action Fleet ships. This is a good sign that we aren't seeing anything. Also, you saw my report of me talking to Lisa Stevens about the Silver Fett. I am still worried about it. I tried to post a plea for one on Sandtroopers but no one has come forward to help. I don't have time to go to any of these conventions. When the Fan Club gets this figure on their website it will be a free for all. That's all for now, thanks."

Thanks Chad. As recently as last Monday I saw these auctions hitting the $200 mark, truly beyond belief.

Sandtrooper ESPN Eric asks:
"Can someone please tell me why the Imperial 4 pack is so easy to find almost everywhere but the figures that people really want are scarce? Someone please give me an answer even if it's a total lie, just humor me!!

No need for dishonesty. A prearranged commercial agreement between supplier Hasbro and vendor Toys "R" Us to create an exclusive to be sold at their stores often means that supplies are ample. A one-shot segment such as these multi-packs is delivered to the TRU staging warehouses during a predetermined calendar window and most of the stores within the chain around the country stock their shelves at the same time. Remember Wal-Mart's Rebo band and holographic figure exclusives? Or perhaps Target's Saga accessory packs? Store shelves often bristle with these exclusive products, while the in-store stock situation of the regular series gets a lttle tricky, especially during historically non-selling summer months.

Sandtrooper jadesfire reports:
"Just came back from Target in St. Charles, IL near TRU and Wal-Mart and found 3 new deluxe figs. They had two Spider Droids and 1 Battle Droid maker. As of 12:00 noon they have only 1 Spider Droid and 1 Battle Droid maker left. Good Luck!!! As of 3:00 pm cdt, Target on Randall Road in Batavia had 1 Battle Droid maker and 1 Spider Droid. Good Luck!!! Now if only we could see some new figures besides the deluxe! I left both because I have no use for them and can't afford to buy duplicates. K-B in Batavia? Why bother!!!!!!

"I just got my Unleashed Emperor and Luke from bigbadtoys and 'wow!' I am becoming a big fan of this line. The detail and poses have gotten so much better since the Jango wave. This line is becoming a favorite of mine. I always joked around calling the luke 'golfing luke,' but this is one cool figure. Bigbadtoys was very cool to deal with. The items arrived mint and in a timely manner. I can't wait to get my hands on that new Unleashed Fett! I am also itching for that new 12" wave as well Hey, anyone around here find the 12" Gammorean guard yet? Later!"

Force of the Bay
Hey Troops, I was searching through the 20k plus items on ebay and found some interesting items to say the least. Arm yourself with this bad boy. Now all you need is 800 to 1000 dollars to get that blasted Stormtrooper armor. I found an ancient party favor for all of you party animals out there. There are so many different versions of our favorite Bounty Hunter. A very nice Empire Card but they also have many Return of the Jedi cards as well. Our good friends at Cloud City Collectables have once again shown us what rare really is. Take a look at what a cardback is going for! There are so many vintage treasures from all over the world. I can't believe all that money for only one figure! The early bird always gets the worm, but how much will that worm cost? You can find items that are straight cheesy then find another that completely Kicks A$%! It is all out there Troopers, try to do a little research on your seller and exercise caution when bidding. Good luck Troopers, Kick A$% and take names!

Not Episode III, but a Film to Look Forward to:
Good friend Sandtrooper Cyberjet passed this news along:

'Transformer' Robots May Appear in Film

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The shape-shifting "Transformer" robots from the 1980s may soon be using 20-something nostalgia to fuel a Hollywood movie.

The Hasbro Inc. (HAS) toy company has teamed with the production company Angry Films to create a live-action version of the popular cartoon series that ran from 1984 to 1987, about a group of alien robots who disguise themselves on Earth as common vehicles.

"The basic thing is that if you've been going to the comic-book festivals and seeing all that stuff, the '80s kind of came back last year in a huge way," Angry Films producer Don Murphy said Wednesday.

"We figured the technology had finally caught up to the point where we could actually show an 18-wheel truck turning into a giant robot," added Murphy, who also helped make the upcoming comic book movie "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen."

The story of "The Transformers" centers on a war between two mechanized armies - the heroic Autobots, led by the red tractor-trailer Optimus Prime, and the evil Decepticons, ruled by the gigantic silver gun Megatron. Seeking new sources of energy, both factions crash-land on Earth.

Although the "Transformers" toys have changed over the years - from animal shapes to the current series of futuristic machines - Murphy said the movie would be based on the original lineup.

The 1980s Hasbro toys, which the cartoon helped turn into a money-machine for the company, have recently been reissued by the original Japanese manufacturer, Takara Co. A recent comic book based on "The Transformers" and a DVD of the original cartoon series have also become best sellers.

Murphy and his producing partner, Tom DeSanto, whose credits include "X-Men" and "X2: X-Men United," are still in the early stages of the "Transformers" movie. The project has not yet settled at a studio and no potential release date has been set.

Sandtrooper THE CHAD reports:
"Hey all. Well, I saw the post on The Jawa about the breakfast that the Fan Club is putting on. There goes the Silver Boba Fett. I don't have time to go to Ohio. I struck up a conversation with the president of the Star Wars Fan Club. I was told by Lisa Stevens that the Silver Fett will indeed be available though the FC website. So everyone (including me) can breathe a sigh of relief. So, in August, watch their website for the Silver Fett.

"Also, a friend of mine found the found the New Yoda and Padawans and the Red Battle droid at our Target this weekend and unfortunately I missed them. I told you I found the new Fett and the Han Hoth last month and I haven't seen them since. Which leads me to believe we will never see the Yoda and Padawans again. This is the reason why I am close to giving up. Take care all and may the Force be with you guys. Thanks."

And there you have it!

New Exclusive!
Check Sandtroopers later this week for a special report (complete with pics) on a new exclusive to be released this summer. All I can say for now is that it isn't a Hasbro product but it will be exclusive to a major retail chain. However it won't be available within the US. Stay tuned!

Sandtrooper CrzyItlian reports:
"I was out at most stores Thurday night in central Illinois and didn't see much. Toys 'R'Us had about every 12" figure except others' exclusives, 3 Jango pilots, 3 Jango previews, and three force-flipping Jango deluxes. Both Wal-Marts had scant selections. Meijer had nothing but early '02 line. Target had no 3-3/4" figs and I think they had all the accessory packs. K-B had a buy one get one sale but nothing new there either. The Kmarts were laughable as was the k's merchandise. So Springfield really hasn't seen much in the '03 line."

Sandtrooper jedisearch reports:
"Hudson Valley, NY checking in again to let people know to beware when purchasing the Imperial Forces pack. My local Toys 'R' Us in Middletown had tons of these in stock today, but the idiot who opened the cases sliced ALL of them with a box cutter, rendering them all completely useless to mint collectors. CHEERS!!!"

Sandtrooper Jedichirp reports:
"Holy Cow, I finally was able to purchase something new. I found the 4 pack Imperials at the Greenwood, Indiana TRU. They had about 20 left on the shelf. Good luck."

Sandtrooper Songwrtr reports:
"I drove out to the Big Flats (Elmira, NY) TRU and found the Imperial Forces 4-Pack on Friday night. The Kaybee out there didn't have the 12" Gamorrean Guard yet. The rest of the stock in both stores and the nearby Wal-Mart was essentially the same as it was two months ago when I was there to pick up the 12" Boushh Leia (which itself was the only new item any of the stores had seen since late '02). Meanwhile, the stock in the Ithaca Target is dwindling, which is hopefully a sign that they'll be restocking soon. The Ithaca K-Mart still has several pegs full of the first Mace Windu figure from last year, so chances of finding anything recent there are nil. The K-Mart in Big Flats did such a poor job with figures last year (like charging $1 more than any other K-Mart I visited) that I didn't even bother stopping when I drove through town.

"On-line stores like New Force Comics (my favorite!) and KebCo (One of Every Figure Club really works) have kept me up to date with most releases through the brick-and-mortar drought. It's just variations and exclusives that keep me hunting. Thanks to Karma for once again picking up Star Tours figures for everyone who asked. And thanks to everyone at Sandtroopers for sticking with the hobby through all the ups and downs. Keep the faith!"

Sandtrooper Jedi Dom reports:
"Troops, What is this Starwars.com Hyperspace stuff? Has anybody signed up for this? Is this worth it or is it just another way to suck 20 bucks a year from my already quite thin wallet? Come on, troops, voice your opinion. We all need to know."

How fast can you blow twenty bucks? Try 'Jump to Hyperspace' on for size and you're probably on your way to find out! With so many Star Wars fan sites currently acting as little more than portals and quick links to StarWars.com, any premium content offered within this paid service will probably be available within minutes from 'peer to peer' sharing programs and the myriad of other online depositories out on the web. If you guys out there in Trooperland have any opinions, send them to hyperspace@sandtoopers.com. Additionally, I'll ask this question in Extensive Poll No. 6 so you may all register your disgust online within minutes!

Sandtrooper Jedi Hitch reports:
"Hi Troops! It's been a while since I've posted anything from the Spokane, WA area because there hasn't really been anything to report. The Wal-Mart stores put out more figures but they were all older figures from last year. The only thing they have worth noting are the AT-AT and Snowspeeder Action Fleet vehicles. Target stores are a bunch of empty pegs with nothing new for weeks.

"Toys 'R' Us ... I'll spare the details, everyone can guess them already. At least I found the Imperial 4pk and the 12" Lando Wave there. Kmart had the new(ish) Obi-Wan, Tusken, and Tyranus but that's been it for them. Nothing new at K-B, but I've been told the 12" Gammoreans will be arriving shortly. Looks like I'll be spending my money on Lord of the Rings and Muppet figures. At least I can FIND that stuff. Hopefully things will get better soon."

Sandtrooper THE CHAD reports:
The Battle is Lost: "The break that I mentioned in Northern Alabama is over. Well, Hasbro doesn't want my money. I come to the conclusion that we will never see anything new. The Fett Carkoon wave has hit only once as far as I know. I have only seen the Aalya Secura wave once as well. I am giving up. I will go out in vain but the chances of finding anything is nill. I beg anyone going to any of the conventions to please find me the Silver Fett. I will ONLY pay cost and shipping. I have a job and I don't have the off-time to go to these shows.

"I have turned to the dark side of the Force. In simpler language, the old figures at Wal-Mart will not move. The Wal-Mart that is getting anything will be 'ravened' by scalpers who will leave nothing behind. The battle is lost. I will get into an automobile accident in finding these figures. It is sad that it has come to this. This is for all the scalpers out there: You win.' Farewell.

"Here's another amazing find. This is a 21-back Han Solo that I got."

And there you have it!

Force of the Bay Crossover Edition
Hey Troops, time for another edition of FOTB, but this time it is going to be a crossover, some toys and some books and other stuff. Remember, with a little careful searching, you can find just about anything you want on ebay, for instance, this great vintage POTF figure. For those of you into Star Wars art, here are three great auctions: McQuarrie paintings from ESB and ROTJ or here is one from my favorite Star Wars artist, Dave Dorman. For the loose collector who has everything, you can never have too many of these or these. For those of you who saw my post about the new novel release this week, here is a chance to get it for a low price. Here is many people's favorite EU trilogy. Finally, here is an interesting set of books and records. Remember Sandtroopers does not endorse any of the above sellers. Always be sure to check out a sellers feedback before bidding to be sure you are satisfied with the respectability of a seller. We check them all ourselves, but what one person considers acceptable, you may not. ebay is a great resource, but there are bad sellers out there. Thanks for looking, and good luck if you decide to bid.

David Kaye may be set to "Terrorize" Episode III:
David Kaye is well known to Transformers fandom for lending his voice to the Transformers series Beast Wars and Beast Machines from 1996-2001 as Predacon leader Megatron. Kaye, in an interview on the Transformers fan site tformers.com, alluded to possibly playing a role in Episode III. Whether it will be a voice acting role or an acting role in the film isn't known yet. Visit tformers.com and read the interview transcript. If this happens, it would be a great fan crossover event for fans of Star Wars and Beast Wars and Transformers.
Beast Wars Megatron in Episode III would be SWEET!

Sandtrooper Garr reports:
"Garr here!! I have found nothing at all here in St. Joseph, MO and all the Kansas City trips are killing me in gas money. Wal-Mart is undependable, as well as K-Mart and K-B. This town has been dry for 4 months. I know people all over the country are going through this as well. So I have given in to ebay. Although I have gotten some really killer deals on vintage figures and vehicles. I just scored a vintage Luke Stormtrooper, Han (Carbonite), and Kez-Iban, all mint & complete, all really cheap. I am going to the Ohio show to score the Silver Boba Fett. I don't think I'll be able to pick up a whole lot of them because of the limit of 2 per person. But I may have 2 extra if my wife goes with me. I will trade 2 mint condition ones for a figure I have had a rough time finding. I need a loose Vlix. I know this is a shot in the dark, but you never know unless you ask! Thanks, Garr out, and MTFBWY!!!"

Sandtrooper THE CHAD reports - WAR ON SCALPERS manifesto:
The Battle Continues: "The battle to find new Star Wars figures continues. I was at a Wal-Mart in Huntsville, Alabama and a lady who works in the toy department told me that they are still getting Star Wars figures. But there is a problem, they stock the shelves overnight and scalpers come in late at night and clean out all the good stuff. They go through the carton and take every new figure .Well, that is that. This is the only Wal-Mart that is getting anything but they don't have freight out on the floor during the day. These scalper guys obviously don't have lives. I do. I give up. My faith it lost. The scalpers have won."

Stupidest People on the Face of the Earth: "I found the imperial 4-pack at TRU 2 days ago. I hear the Gamorrean Guard has been found in California (big suprise). If we in Alabama see it, our K-B won't get it for 5 years. As I said in my last post to Sandtoopers, I am worried about the Clone Wars figures. Our Wal-Marts are still clogged to the gills with old figures. Our Wal-Marts never mark down their stuff, they will just let it sit there and gather dust. There has to be a better way for them to move that stuff. Target has made some progess with getting new figures, although they haven't had anything since mid-May. This is why I am about to give up and declare that the scalpers have won. Our employees at TRU and Wal-Mart are the stupidest people on the face of the earth. They don't know, its a waste of time to ask them."

The Scalpers have Won: "Target was the only place that I found the new Fett, Hoth Han, and Mynock Hunt Chewbacca. They only got in one case and I haven't seen them since. People are finding the TRU Imperial 4-packs with such ease as well. The employees that work at our TRU said they won't get any new Star Wars figures until Episode 3. In 2000 when everyone up north and out west were treated to the Fan Club 4, Wuher, and so on, we were stuck with the lame Episode One crap. These figures should not be that dang difficult to find. Well, the scalpers are winning and maybe I will have to resort to ebay and pay 100000000000000000000000000000000000 dollars for a dang figure. TRU sucks, as does Wal-Mart. Why is it that people in California, Ohio, the Dakota's, Washington State, and New York find the new figures with such ease? I guess Hasbro loves certain areas."

Drastic Step: "I am going to have to do something drastic. I will drop 59 dollars for a whole case of figures. I went directly to Hasbro and one of the reps told me: "Have you tried Entertainment Earth?" I thought, wait a minute, you want me to buy a whole case of figures? It ticks me off that it has come down to this. I will have to buy figures by the case to get what I want. On a lighter note, did you get the pic I sent you about the 12-back Luke that I won on ebay (ed note: Yes! Here are pics - front and back carded)? Take care."

Word. I also heard from my friend Chad again today and he had found this gem on ebay. Goes to show that if the current line isn't melting your butter (or you just can't FIND anything new), going after some vintage gear is a nice diversion. I remember doing the same thing starting back in 2001 when 'Beast Machines' had ended, so I sought out vintage Transformers on ebay. Garr (see post above) and Chad have the right idea. Instead of pumping more $$$ into Hasbro's account, get some vintage product on the secondary markets.

Aayla Secura
Yoda and Chian
Ashla and Jempa
Barriss Offee

Lama Su
Research Droids
Imperial Officers
Yeah, they were $5.99 each, but K-B has Buy 1 get 1 Free for the next month, so I made out pretty good. That's all. Take care."

Sandtrooper Ham Yoyo reports:
"HEY!!!! It's Ham Yoyo, Britt. It has been a long time since I've had a chance to check out the site. I've been in rehab for so long it just seems normal. The site looks as kick bootie as always, except for the missing in action of some of the old timers - V.W. & George, but the new guys seem to really be doing a GREAT job. I'm really happy to be finally back on my feet and able to check this site again, I missed it!

"Just wanted to put forth some finds. My TRU has a few Unleashed figs left - 3x Tyranus, 3x Mace, and I scored 2 new Darth with no helmet and 2 Leia barge, will sell for cost and shipping. Also, the Empire pack of figs - Darth, Stormie, and a Trooper, odd item ... a large package with 3 figs and a ton of extras. Does anyone else know of a different assortment than this? I've got 2 of these. Also, the local Wally worlds have been spitting out old items left from the warehouse. I have 2 TIE Bombers for $30 plus shipping, and 2 sets of the Trash Compactor series. These are a major goodie and I like them very much, but I will sell the 1 set plus shipping, first come, first served. They also have MANY 12" figs. TRU still has the Leia with Han in Carbo set. Great to be back fellas, the site still kicks AS#@#$@#$#$"

Good morning. We're glad you are back Britt! Can you say 'Beyond Belief?' Because it looks like a shrewd shopper slipped out the R4 droids from the Imperial packs to keep for his collection without having to pay for the whole set, then returned them with some extra accessories thrown in as a 'good-will' gesture. Instant variant! Don't let people fool you!

Sandtrooper starfox reports:
"Just the Toys 'R' Us Imperial 4 pack. I was at Wal-Mart in Killeen, Texas yesterday and they had a case of figs on a palette. I asked the toy manager if I could open it up, boy was I excited, first new figs here in months. Then disappointment quickly set in. Another case full of Jango pilots. As if the 20 of them on the pegs weren't enough already. And the local Target cleared all their Star Wars pegs, nothing at all except the accessory sets."

Sandtrooper THE CHAD reports:
"Hey all, I was able to obtain the new Star Tours R5-D2 from a certain someone down in Florida. I would like to give a big shout out to Jennifer Bassett. As I stated before, I found the Imperial 4-packs and TRU a couple weeks ago got in the Unleashed Leia and Vader. I didn't get them. I am very worried about the upcoming Clone Wars figures. Again our Wal-Mart hasn't gotten rid of their old stock. We have 3 Wal-Mart stores that are guilty of this. One Wal-Mart got like 2 cases of new figures and that was weeks ago and that Wal-Mart is notorious for scalpers. KB is the same way. Well, I am going to have to drop 59 bucks for an entire case for figures. It angers me that these figures are this difficult to find. Take care."

New novel tomorrow
Hey Troops, Shatterpoint by Matthew Stover is being released tomorrow. This book marks the first of the new Clone Wars series novels. It stars everyone's bad @$$ Jedi, Mace Windu. I know I am looking forward to reading this one. Look for my review once I finish reading it.

Sandtrooper Danny B. reports:
"Danny B here from So. Cal. I found the Imperial four pack at the TRU in West Covina. Target has started clearing its pegs to make way for new stuff. I would just like to say that I'm glad to see more people on the West Coast reporting stuff they find. When I first came to this site it was just me and Donna. I used to think collecting on the West Coast was dead, but I was wrong. Anyone from this site going to the Comic-Con in a few weeks?"
