Update from Hasbro Inc: Hasbro wants your Questions
What are these Holograms for!?!We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to help better serve your Troopers like never before. Beginning today, Hasbro invites you to help launch a new weekly Star Wars Q & A session with their Star Wars brand team. In an effort to provide more consistent support to the media dedicated to covering the iconic Star Wars toy line, Hasbro has established a weekly Q&A aimed at sharing the most up-to-date and accurate brand and product information available.

Every Friday by 5 PM ET, we ask that Sandtroopers.com staff submit questions that you would like posed to the Star Wars brand team. We ask only 3 questions from your outlet per week. All questions submitted will be reviewed and answers to a select few will be posted on Hasbro's Star Wars the following Friday afternoon. Though only a sampling of all questions received will be posted to Hasbro’s site each week, we will make our best effort to respond directly to each editor with answers to all submitted questions. Troopers are strongly urged to list their questions in priority order. Hasbro may not be able to answer all of each outlet’s questions every week (due to volume), so to ensure Hasbro addresses the most pressing questions, assigning priority is important. Also, while Hasbro welcomes any and all questions regarding past and present product lines, they reserve the right to refrain from answering any questions that may otherwise divulge proprietary information related to future products. We are asking Troopers to post their questions in this thread.

Happy Memorial Day:
Still standing proud!Hey Troopers, I just wanted to take time out to wish you all a very Happy Memorial Day. This year is an extra special day for me, as some of you know a near and dear friend of mine was killed a few weeks ago while serving the United States Marine Corps in Iraq. While I’m still sad, I am making sure to spend the day attending a parade, cooking out and enjoying my family. This is all possible by our men and women who are serving in uniform, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. To the family of Edward G. Davis III, I cannot tell you what a privilege it was to know your son. I’m proud to say he was my friend, and I envy his honor to die a hero for this great Nation.

Mine arrived yesterday and it is a total freaking mind blower. This guy redefines the words Premium Format. The detail is perfect and the craftsmanship is first rate. Class is in session, suckers!“The Tatooine Wave has struck NW Indiana! Unfortunately, I missed most of it. I was able to score the Darth Vader from that wave, and I have to tell you all, it just might be the best Darth Vader yet. Though the sculpt has not changed, Hasbro really hit the mark with the placement of the figure, packaging, background, accessory placement, and overall look. I'm really glad I didn't pass this up just because I wasn't interested in another Darth Vader. If anyone has the chance to pick this up, do it! The Wal-Marts and Toys 'R Us are well stocked with the Coruscant, Heroes & Villains, VTSC, and previous waves. Finding these are not a problem. Still awaiting the Hunt for General Grievous Battlepack to hit, as well as keeping an eye out for the rest of the Tatooine wave. Now for those George Lucas Stormtroopers to arrive! S.C.A.L.P. Coast Guard“Hey all. It has been dry lately but I have found a few things here and there. I went to my Wal-Mart and picked up two Tarkins that appear to be ROTS leftovers. I'll offer them up for trade if anyone is interested. Also, In the Wal-Mart in Saint Augustine (FL), I was able to locate scant remnants of wave 4 and was able to obtain a Firespeeder Pilot. The Targets around here are loaded with Senate Skirmish Packs and Demise of Grievous. A very nice set and figure I must say. Still no sign of Biker Scouts or X-Wing Luke though. The Heroes and Villains so far have not reared their heads yet either.”

Sandtrooper Darth2525 Reports:
“Darth2525 reporting in from Central Wisconsin. The collecting in my area has been very frustrating as of late, the only real positive report I have is finding a huge stock of Unleashed while in Green Bay this weekend at the Wal-Mart on the intersection of highways 54 and 41. There was an entire end cap stocked full, all of the packages in great condition. I ended up buying one of each to display in package and my son Kassidy bought one of each to open. These figures are not the cream of the unleashed crop being reworks of previous sculpts, but after not seeing a 7” figure on the pegs for over a year I am not going to complain. There must be a bug in the air affecting all of us long-term Hasbro collectors, after ten years of purchasing at least one of every 3-3/4” figure I have decided when I find wave 5 that I can not stomach buying another Han Solo or Darth Vader. I bet I have purchased 10 of each over the past years in various repaints or packages. So discouraged am I, that I am at the verge of giving up on the Saga line all together.” For the entire report click here.

“Just wanted to write in and give you the skinny on the Poughkeepsie, NY area. I haven't done a ton of hunting lately, because all I've been finding are sliced open VOTC figures and Skirmish packs with the troopers replaced with fakes, but fortunately I was able to pick up two Skirmish packs. I am interested in purchasing extra pods, so if anyone has extras please let me know and perhaps we can make a deal. Thanks.”

Area Report: Never Surrender!
Bllllllrrr Stick 'em HA HA HA STICK 'Em!It’s been a tough week in northern IL. I’ve made a few stops at the Wal-Mart in Antioch, IL where they were sporting the remains of the Revenge of the Sith wave, and a new stock of the heat-sealed VTSC figures. There were also remnants of the first Heroes and Villains wave. Let me just say this is a really poor choice for the direction of this line. The reason I say this because I’ve got loyal hardcore veterans writing and saying things like they’ve quit collecting Hasbro toys. When I saw Chicano Dom was cashing in his Hasbro chips, I realized the problem isn’t getting any better. While there hasn’t been too much to offer in stores, we can all be pleased the Skirmish at the Senate and Demise of Grievous have been a relatively easy score for many. Sandtrooper Jedimaster Eric Reports:
“Hello Troopers, Jedimaster Eric here in Western NY. It's been a long time since I have had anything to report. However, in the last month I was able to find the new VOTC wave and Demise of Grievous at Target then mailed in for my Lucas trooper. Also, today at Wal-Mart in Niagara Falls I found the new Unleashed (all 3). I got the last shock trooper but there were still 3 each of the Han and Chewie. I also saw the titanium Bossk and Sandtrooper but yet again someone purposely smashed in the packages! This is becoming very common in my area lately. The last few months someone in the Niagara falls, Amherst, Clarence area of NY have been bending cards, smashing packaging, and switching SAGA2 figures gluing the blisters back on with garbage POTF2 figures in there places. This is REALLY making me mad so I better not catch you in the act buddy! Anyway, that’s about it, happy hunting.”

Sandwatch Update: Unleashed Battle Packs
Sandwatch Update: Unleashed Battle PacksA few months ago I wrote an article about the new Unleashed Battle Packs, and how I was not at all thrilled with them. At the time I was disappointed that Hasbro chose to go with the smaller lineup of figures over the larger, more detailed versions, but now I have to say that I am quite impressed with these. I regret the comments I previously made about these. These are very well done for the scale that they are, and the price isn’t all that bad either as you get four figures in decent poses. Check out the first of several Image Guides that I will be doing on these Unleashed Battle Packs, starting off with Yoda’s Elite Clone Troopers.

Sandtrooper Starfox Reports:
Real Men wear Pink!“Some good news coming from Central Texas finally! TRU finally received a shipment on the Clone Wars Gunship and this thing is sweet when all put together...now I just need some AOTC pilots for this badboy. TRU also received some of the VTSC figures, some heat-sealed, some taped. All the Wal-Marts around here have put out several cases of the Heroes & Villains wave and they are starting to warm the pegs, less the clones.... still no sign of the newly released Unleashed Shock or the rest of that wave. Target has sold out of the Grievous exclusive, but there are plenty of BattlePacks left there. I saw the Titanium Sandtrooper once, but it was smashed all over, so I will wait for him to come back around. Surprisingly Kmart has received the Throne Room Battlepack and the 501st Battlepacks, but still crazy priced at $35. KBToys received some UGH figs and I scored an extra At-At driver if anyone is interested. Well that's all from central Texas, Starfox signing out...”

We hit up the Indy K-Mart on East St. and I was surprised a bit by what I found. I admit that I have avoided this store for quite awhile, but may put this one on my normal stops. It was good to see some of the older things again.” For the entire report click here.

I even found the 7" Unleashed wave this morning. The only thing missing is the UGHs! Keep up the good work, and you know how I feel about the scalpers! Sandtrooper SoCal Dom Reports:
Seasoned Vet!“It has been awhile since my last post and I thought I would give a little update to what is going on down here in So Cal. Grievous figures and the Skirmish in the Senate packs are in full force. I picked up 3 extra sets for anyone who still needs one. I am only asking for cost plus shipping on these, figured I'd help a few of you out if you needed the help, so send me an email. I would rather see one or two or three of you get one rather than send them back. Not much else going on, VOTC figs have come and gone, haven't seen much in the way of UGH's or new waves. I also wanted to let everyone know that my Hasbro collecting days are over.” For more on why click here.

Are they still making these?“If there is any Sandtroopers that are looking for the new 7-inch Unleashed figures in Huntsville Alabama, listen up. I found 3 or 4 cases of Han Stormtrooper, Shock trooper and Chewbacca at Wal-Mart is morning before work. They were on an end cap away from the other Star Wars stuff. These things look great. International S.C.A.L.P. Border Patrol!“Hey Troops, Sean V from Canada here reporting the Clone Wars gunship has shown up here at Toys r us. My local one got in 22 so far which is probably all they'll get. The interesting thing is they don't have the galactic hint sticker on the box and their all U.S. boxes with no French? I just thought it was weird how they didn’t have the sticker, which I like. Anybody notice this in their travels? I'm just curious.”

Also plenty of Skirmish in the Senate and Demise of Grievous sitting on the pegs. The first waves (formerly Wal-Mart excl) of Titanium vehicles are also hitting Target. The VTSC are not hanging around. If I do find some on the pegs, 95% of the time the Proof of Purchases is missing. “Hey Troops, I just finished a routine patrol with the Dewback into Columbia, MO. I have to say the stores were packed with goods! Target especially after I got through they still had at least 5 more Demise of General Grievous and Skirmish at the Senate exclusives. Also some of the Saga EP3 lines and HVC. Plus peg warmers from Geonosian wave. Super Wal-Mart had a wide choice of the EP3 lines. TRU was all out of exclusives, but packed with EP3 vehicles and still a couple old Barriss Offee dolls. Plus each of the stores had VOTC Greedo, Han, and Tusken Raider. Well that's all in my next of the desert. United We Find!”

The Right Reasons! They're here! The success of the DC Star Wars Collecting Club's first charity pin sale, the Yoda pin in 2004, has spawned another pin-for-charity drive. This year's pin , authorized by Lucasfilm, features Chewbacca hanging off the Washington Monument clutching a captured TIE Fighter as two more hover in the background. 100% of the profits will be donated to the Children's Inn at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. This Chewbacca Kong pin is approximately 1 3/4" high and displays the DCSWCC logo at the bottom. Two clasps on the back ensure a secure hold. The Past, Present & Future Regarding Silver Figures
No matter what color we wear, we'll always be feared! There have been many exclusive Star Wars figures done in the last thirty years; there was the Jorg Sacul figure from Celebration II, the talking Darth Vader from Celebration III, and even the more recent Ultimate Galactic Hunt George Lucas in Stormtrooper disguise figure. These are all great figures that have been sold in an exclusive format, but what about those “other” exclusive figures that Hasbro have come up with? I’m talking about all of those silver painted figures that they pumped out in mass numbers. Check out my article where I share my thoughts about Hasbro’s silver figures, and be sure to share your thoughts about this in our forums.

S.C.A.L.P. Coast Guard“Hey Troopers! Luck came my way here in the First Coast and I want to share the wealth. Again, I appear to have missed the Scout Troopers by only thirty minutes or so as I saw what looked like a case of VTSC and almost the entire wave 4 at the Town Center Target by University of North Florida. Of the missing was the Firespeeder pilot. I’m sorry but there was nothing left this morning as I had got what I could and I noticed a few others scratching for the VTSC figs and some remnants of wave 4 before I left. For you package variant collectors, I have in my hands UGH figures Darth Vader (#13) and Han Solo (#02). I'll sell them at seven each plus 8-priority shipping (PayPal please) or I can trade them. I am in need of VOTC Stormtroopers, Evolutions Sandtroopers, Fire Speeder Pilot and VTSC Scout Troopers. Good luck and happy hunting!”

I also saw the new titanium ships and some more of the Coruscant waves minus the UGH chase figs. I was even able to pick up an UGH Slave I as I finally saw these on the pegs. It was a pretty good haul for my stores. Thanks to Recon Sgt., gran3131, Darth Aussie, and good ol HothChad the tamer was able to keep his collection up to date and moving even though I was dealing with a family situation. Thanks guys! Sandtrooper Bobafred Reports:
Sandtrooper Bobafred, Execute Order 66!“Bobafred chiming in from the west end.... Clonewars Republic Gunship (skn: 430762) has landed in So Cal! Toys R Us in Porter Ranch received only two pieces (1 case/box), as well as Valencia, and Van Nuys (Friday Morning! Do ya hear me Robbie!) Woodland Hills (Nada dang ching)?... but Burbank currently has six in stock/transit and has begun to bring in lots of foot traffic/inquiry's. I love free shipping its relief to my after-burners. The Hunt for Grievous/Defense of the Senate Battle pack (skn: 430800) has no signs of hitting this week. Heroes and Villains is also hitting at TRU as well as the Commander Cody wave (Unfortunately no UGH). That same wave hit plentiful at Target this morning, and our now in route to the Pasadena Rose Bowl (Flea Market), courtesy of your Hot Wheel collector’s (Bobafred felt generous today!).On a side note for all of you...and i know that is a whole lot of you collecting the Titanium die cast ships, keep your eyes open for the Titanium shipper displays found on the end cap at Wal-Mart’s only (Just ask). I stacked two of these together full of the Treasure Hunt white Tie Fighter's (wow), with a Death Star dead center (super wow), and I’ll let your mind take to that time in a Galaxy, far, far away...Bobafred on the Hunt!”

Update to Unleashed Guide: Wave 14
Capturing the searing conflict between good and evil that lies at the heart of the Star Wars story Wave 14 was made available around June of 2005. The sculpts, as usual, showed a great detail and fantastic depiction of the characters by the artists that created them. However, suddenly the line came to a stop. Apparently, the reason given by Hasbro was that the standard $15.00 price of Unleashed was too low for them to make a profit based on manufacturing costs as well as claiming sales were down and the line had become "unpopular" Instead they gave way to a smaller Unleashed Line which has never captured the detail nor the collector attention the 7" Line did. What really happened? ... Was this the end of such popular Line? See the detailed pictures and read the review of Unleashed Wave 14.

    Update from Master Replicas:
Sure, Master Yoda taught us that size was not important…but then again, Master Yoda didn’t collect Limited Edition lightsabers. Because in terms of Master Replicas’ LEs, the size – or rather, the size of the edition – is a very important piece of information for our collectors. Therefore, without further ado, we are pleased to announce that the latest LE – the Qui-Gon Jinn Lightsaber Limited Edition – will have a production run of 2500 units. That’s a pretty low edition size, so be sure to place your order ASAP!

Sandtrooper Deadhero Reports: Show me some Metal!
Who's Dead?“Troopin' through Northeast Illinois and getting invaded, albeit in a scattergun pattern, with the newest figures. Countryside Target and Wal-Mart coming through with new Titanium wave (Bossk only), Skirmish in the Senate Battle Pack and a few UGH Vintage figs, while Wal-Mart got a case of Heroes and Villains (1-12) but hasn't had UGH Vintage since their initial shipment a couple weeks ago. Waukegan Target had Demise of Grievous, a bunch of Skirmish packs and remnants of the Coruscant wave. Super Wal-Mart in Antioch has some Vintage remaining, the Titanium vehicle multi-packs, and also had a case of Heroes and Villains. Still waiting for that Titanium Sandtrooper, who may just be the most hardass Sandtrooper since the emergence of Sandtroopers.com. Still on patrol in the circle city!“Today at Wal-Mart (Avon) I found stashed away behind some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys a Galactic Hunt Han Solo. I bought it. Upon inspection I noticed that the Silver Hologram figure was not a good guy bad a bad guy. A Stormtrooper to be exact. I looked at the tape on the bubble and it is the original tape, not tampered with. I thought Good Guys come with Good Guy Holograms and Bad Guys come with Bad Guy Holograms. I guess for the Galactic Hunts this may not be true or it is just a manufacturing error.”

“Wickedempire here from Portland, Oregon on another report! Well finally the Demise of Grievous's are popping up and the Senate battlepacks as well! Man, it has taken a while to get them to the pegs but at last the wait is over. Still no sign of the new Saga figures (tatooine) but I did see the Sandtrooper and Bossk Titanium figures at a few targets. They aren't bad but not as good as what I was expecting... On the other hand I was very impressed with the Senate battle pack and I even picked one up (I had originally not planned on it). The new vintage figures are popping up as well but I have yet to see a single scout trooper (no surprise there)! Oh and for any of you who are in my area I have noticed that Targets aren't stocking the pegs for their 8am openings as much, in fact I have yet to walk into a store at opening and find the pegs stocked. Thanks!”

Happy Hunting and May the Force be with you! And just to let you know, while I was shopping, two guys were asked to leave for hoarding the Demise of Grievous figures, and possibly attempting to cut open figures…probably trying to get the George Lucas vouchers…scalpers beware, because we’re watching!”

“I’m not sure if this is occurring anyplace else, but two local Target stores in Palm Beach County, Florida have removed Star Wars items from their action figure aisles and no employees can give what the story is. One in West Palm Beach has not stocked any new items for about a month and put what was available on clearance. The other, as of this morning, had no items at all where it was quite full last night. If any troopers might know the inside workings of Target and can pass along some Intel, this trooper would be very thankful! These skn's should tell you if it is in transit (Distribution center to your local Toys R Us), or it is sitting in the back stock room. Super Nice find Boba Binks. I'd like to Thank/Welcome all the troopers for the kind praise in helping build your army's of the Galactic Empire, The only way we know how.... Sandtroopers style United We Find. I know I might take the fun of the trade out of it...but we all get to save on Galactic Priority Cargo runs. I really want to say super Thanks to Kid Iowa, A.K.A. Scalperhunter1 for his recognition, and nomination for putting me in the running for Trooper of The Month. I find it ironic that I was an avid 12-inch collector until Sideshows limited exclusives to 1000 pieces, Maybe this just might get me back in, (I don't know if that is a good or bad thing?) granted I win... Bobafred on the Hunt!”

Dewback Patrol: Microcon Comic Book Show
S.C.A.L.P. Patrol!Hey Troopers, forum members HothChad and Anthony Grand a.k.a. Gran3131 were able to attend the Microcon Comic Book show at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. It’s the little events that can give you a great opportunity to fill in the gaps in your collection in the rare case a fellow Sandtrooper can’t come through for you. Thanks again to our assault team for taking control and sending back a dual report in a timely manner. United We Find!

    Sandtrooper Forcehunter Reports:
Swamp Patrol!“Hello Fellow Troopers. I’m here to announce to all Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia Troopers that I am donating parts of my collection to The Saint Augustine Cathedral Parish Festival's Silent Auction and their Flea Market. I'd like you troopers to come out and support this fundraiser where there will be bargains galore on Star Wars items. The proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the tuition of students wishing to attend a parochial school that could not otherwise go due to lack of income. It is the goal of our former Pastor that no poor child should be forced to pay for a religious education; the community must come together and help support them. I could think of no other donation than parts of my collection and no better group of people than The Sandtroopers to support this. I will not say specifically what I have for the auction because I want you guys to come out and see, but I will say that I have a few things including posters, POTF2 play sets, games, some other memorabilia. In addition to the auction there will be rides, games, entertainment, etc. The Festival is Memorial Day Weekend May 26th-May 29th at the Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche on 27 Ocean Ave in Saint Augustine, Fl. Thanks again Troopers and I hope to see you out there.”

    Sandtrooper Darth Pharoah Reports:
Goes down Souf!“DarthPharaoh reporting it’s been somewhat busy here in Hotlanta the last few days. The Target exclusives have been here but you mostly have to ask for them. Although I saw one Target that had them on the shelves and pegs. Wally World has gotten in a lot of VTSC but the Biker Scouts seem to disappear fast. Temple Assault packs have re-appeared at Kmart’s as well but there seems to be some inflationary effect here as they are now over $30. I guess Kmart is going scalper on us? No Gunship or ARC BP’s at TRU yet, but I can feel they’ll be here real soon. The only thing that seems real tough to find however are the UGH figures. Can’t seem to find them anywhere. So if you have an extra won’t you let me know. I’m also looking for loose Senate Pods from the Skirmish set. I’m going to attempt my first custom diorama! Wish me luck and if you can spare a pod let me know. Keep up the fight, never let the scalpers win!”
