TVC Special Action Figure Set - Ewok Scouts

For your viewing pleasure, the Sandwatch Guide flashes back to Hasbro's
TVC Special Action Figure Set - Ewok Scouts, a K-Mart exclusive 2-pack that includes kinda, sorta never-before-been-made figures of Widdle Warrick and Wunka (find out what I mean by this on the page). This set was also planned to be part of a much larger multipack, and both figures use the same body sculpt, with additional parts. Although once shunned by many Star Wars fans, the Ewoks have proven to become very popular lately, with a record number having been made in the past year.

The Vintage Collection - Special Action Figure Villain Set

For your viewing pleasure, the Sandwatch Guide flashes back to Hasbro's
The Vintage Collection - Special Action Figure Villain Set, a Target-exclusive 3-pack that embodies same spirit as the classic Kenner line, this set includes another repainted Boba Fett (based on the figure from 2007's Evolutions: The Fett Legacy set), a repainted Sand People (based on 2006's The Saga Collection Vintage series), and an all-new, all-different Snaggletooth figure that includes ball-hinged hips and ankles, plus a hidden place to store a blaster! This figure is now much more screen-accurate, and the final figure from the Cantina quartet to get an upgrade. It would have been great to get this figure on a single card in the line, with perhaps a variant classic blue deco...but this fan-favorite figure is a welcome addition, no matter how it comes out!

Sandwatch Guide: The Vintage Collection - Basic Figures Wave 10
The Vintage Collection - Basic Figures Wave 10

For your viewing pleasure, the Sandwatch Guide flashes back to Hasbro's
The Vintage Collection - Basic Figures Wave 10, the massive wave that featured characters from THE PHANTOM MENACE. Timed to hit stores alongside the 3D release of the movie, this wave included several "Greatest hits", a few kit-bashes, but the bulk was all-new characters or much-needed upgrades from previous releases. Several figures were "Character Debuts", but the shuffling of the line to accommodate the movie signalled the beginning of the end. This was wave over-shipped, and most of the figures were carried forward into subsequent waves, after months and months of pegwarming toy shelves around the world.

Check out the new photos of figures you may have missed in this new gallery. With this wave, I'm now all caught up to to where I left off last year. Therefore, with the next update, I'll be bringing back my figure reviews the way you like them, complete with all-new galleries and an all-new format. Enjoy!

For your viewing pleasure, the Sandwatch Guide flashes back to Hasbro's The Vintage Collection - Basic Figures Wave 7, a wave that was originally planned to be the first mixed wave in the line. Mixing characters from Episodes II, IV, V, VI, as well as the Expanded Universe, the 6 figures in this wave included many fan-favorites, loaded with super-articulation and accessories. As an added bonus, two figures included extra accessories so that collectors could create at least 2 distinct looks of the characters' appearances. The Vintage Collection - Basic Figures Wave 8

For your viewing pleasure, the Sandwatch Guide flashes back to Hasbro's The Vintage Collection - Basic Figures Wave 8, a wave of figures that were part of a special series inspired by the "Revenge of the Jedi" title that was originally planned for Return of the Jedi. These figures were part of a massive 14-figure San Diego Comic-Con exclusive set in the shape of the Death Star II, repackaged from earlier waves of The Vintage Collection, with a half dozen "new" or "new enough" releases now sporting BOTH the "Revenge" and the "Return" logo as chase variants. As an added bonus, the 2011 mailaway Boba Fett exclusive figure is also added, because that figure was numbered sequentially in the line. besides, it's Boba Fett...he can go where he wants!

The Vintage Collection - Basic Figures Wave 9

For your viewing pleasure, the Sandwatch Guide flashes back to Hasbro's The Vintage Collection - Basic Figures Wave 9, a wave of figures that saw very limited distribution, despite having only 3 new figures! Army builders would surely have loved to get more of the Rebel Soldier in Echo Base Battle Gear. Fan-favorite Bastila Shan surely deserved to be part of more collections, especially since she was the 2009 Fans' Choice Figure winner. And who doesn't love Walrus Man? It's a Skywalker weekend in the Sandwatch Guides, starting with the addition of new photos of a little-known variation in Hasbro's The Vintage Collection - Basic Figures Wave 11. Variant hunters take note! The original version of the figure has a much darker skin tone (maybe Luke got a tan on Tatooine?), but the version that shipped in later case assortments (some are still showing up) has a much lighter flesh color and the hair is also a different shade of brown. Special thanks to my good friend Paul Harrison from Jedi Temple Archives for alerting me to this running change figure I did not even realize I had! For your viewing pleasure, the Sandwatch Guide flashes back to Hasbro's "Mos Espa Arena" Battle Pack, which was part of the 2012 Walmart-exclusive "Discover The Force" lineup. Based on characters appearing in The Phantom Menace, this set includes 5 repainted figures from the past that were part of the Boonta Eve Challenge on Tatooine. This set also includes a pair of special podracing flags showing the colors of each pilot, which were never available before.

Today's gallery includes comparison photos next to the original figures, as well as a group photo of all the podracer pilot figures that have been made over the years, including the one figure that Hasbro seemed to have forgotten to bring back last year. Enjoy!
