S.C.A.L.P. Weapons Supplier dustrho has just obtained some hot new shots from the new Galactic Heroes 2-packs. Choose from Clone Trooper & Chewbacca, Kit Fisto and Mace Windu or R2-D2 and Super Battle Droid. Also featured are some of the new Jedi Force mini-sabers. The .45 scale for the lil' toothless diapered Troopers if you will! Thanks to S.C.A.L.P. Intel for the photos, United We Find Troops!
“Bobafred chiming in from the Valley in So. Cal. Just wanted to give all the Troops a big what up! I know right about now every one seems to be gearing down for 4/2/05 weekend madness. I just wanted to give you guys a heads up on the Target $1.00 off coupon, I contacted Target Visa at 1-888-755-5856 inquiring about such a promo...had them take care of the leg work for me...as it turns out they referred me back to my local Target's as I confirmed with my local Manager's that on 4/2/05 only! Will all stores hold this coupon in hand for those who never received one? I am one of many Visa cardholders who will never receive it. So Troopers to make a long story short, hit them digits, and holler at your locals, to assure they don't drop the ball as they have already. I picked up all Episode III 12-inch and I must say that General Grievous and Palpatine are the chase after all exclusives. Wal-Mart has the best price at $18.86, while Target comes in at $19.99, and K-B's at 24.99. The 12-inch Anakin/Vader comes in at $48.86, but seems to be getting passed on already. Wishing you all the best on your hunt...Bobafred signing out!”
“Check out CNN.com for an article the amount of money uncle George has made. Also for any one finding figures early and not able to buy them. First ask to speak to the District Manager. It is bad business to pack the floor only to say ?sorry?. If that fails...hide them. Try lifting up the base deck in another isle. You could also try to take them to another area, say furniture and put them in a drawer. While I don't condone this type of behavior under normal circumstances, like when I am looking for something. When retailers do this it is only fair. Coming from a retailer myself. Good luck this weekend. If any one is in the Burlington, NJ area Saturday, I'll be the one with the red hair and the limp. I broke two toes last Thursday. So if you see me limping and getting run over please grab a Deluxe Vader and me a #11 Vader. That's all I want. And I'll grab some stuff for you.”
The Staff here at Sandtroopers.com would like to give a big "Happy Birthday" to the one known as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequel movies, Ewan McGregor, who turned 34 years old today. Happy Birthday and May the Force Be With You!
Star Wars fans who plan on lining up for the world premiere of Revenge of the Sith at Hollywood's Grauman Chinese Theatre will be broadcast live on the Internet for all to see. Continental Vista and LiningUp.net will team up together to make this happen. Starting April 3rd about 200 people will begin lining up so they can be among the 1,250 fans watching the midnight premiere of the film, which opens May 19, 2005. Read the full story here.
Star Wars fans come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Todd Harrell, the bassist to the popular rock 'n roll band 3 Doors Down, has informed Net Music Countdown that he is a huge Star Wars fan. He states Star Wars was the first movie he had ever seen in theaters, and it's also one of his favorite movies. He saw it seven times with his dad when it first came out, and also states that he prefers the original film over any of the other films including the prequels. Read the full story here.
Matt Stover, who happens to be the author of the "Revenge of the Sith" novel (to be released on April 2nd), sat down in an exclusive interview with the folks at The Official Site, and talked about several different topics relating to the final movie in the Star Wars saga. Some of the topics discussed were tying together the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy, whether or not he wrote the book in conjunction with the final script to ROTS, and what he talked about with the big man himself, George Lucas. Read the exciting interview in its entirety here. Also, be sure to check out Matt Stover's book tour schedule, so you can hopefully have him sign this book in person.
ILM Visual Effects guru's that bring to life the visual effects of Revenge of the Sith will be on hand in Indy to answer some questions and to show some of their own images from behind the scenes. Roger Guyett and John Knoll are very well known to Star Wars fans. Knoll earned Academy Award nominations for Episodes I and II, as well as for his ground-breaking work on Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Guyett's breakthroughs are visual effects wizardry in the films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. For his visual effects work on Azkaban Guyett earned an Academy Award Nomination. He has been with ILM since 1994 and has worked on Casper, Dragonheart, and countless others. Make sure all of you "Tech Geeks," myself included, check these two out at CIII. Read the official announcement here.
My Thoughts: By the looks of it, it seems that the whole gang that works under Mr.Lucas will be on hand for autographs, demonstrations, parties, and everything else under the Tatooine Suns. Makes you think if the man himself "Darth Flanel" will make an appearence as well. How cool would that be!
For the collecting toy community, bootlegging is easily associated to almost anything illegitimately involved in the manufacturing of a non licensed toy. As such, the number of toy lines and characters that have been bootlegged is incredible.
On the Guide you are about to see, I suspend judgment and present without romanticizing the obviously illegal practice of intellectual property theft, Bootleg Wind Up Walkers as simple pieces of Star Wars memorabilia offered without a license. Without any discriminatory intentions, this is pure documentation for a special brand of hard-core fanatics and a special kind of merchandise, which in this case, sports a very peculiar style. Enjoy!
Hasbro has recently updated their Episode III 3.75" action figure checklist, and you can download the entire checklist in PDF format here (but you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to view this).
We are three weeks away from four days of nothing but Star Wars in Indianapolis. The official Celebration III site has announced more events that have been recently added to the table. Please check the links below for the official releases.
Celebration at Celebration III is SOLD OUT!
The masquerade party (if you want to dress up) will be hosted by Jay Laga'aia and he will take part with the crowd to vote on the best costume. The Mt. San Jacinto College Menifee Jazz Ensemble of California will open up the event and will also play our favorite Star Wars Themes. A Punk/Hard Rock band from my area of Massachusetts, Springfield to be exact, will also take the stage to rock the cantina. Pallet will be on hand for those who would like a little moshing on Tatooine.
Fan Film Awards
Lucasfilm and AtomFilms have announced the 16 finalists for this year's Fan Film Awards. You can checkout all 16 of the submitted films here, and make sure you vote because every vote counts! Voting will end on April 5th, so hurry and pick the winner. The awards ceremony will be held on April 22nd and will be hosted by Warrick Davis.
Two More MCs Announced
Tom Berg and Doug Steves take the stage once again at CIII. Both appeared at CII and were a blast for all. Tom Berg is a traffic reporter and morning show sidekick for WRTV Channel 6 and WZPL-FM (99.5) in Indianapolis. His easy-going and talkative manner, coupled with his profound love of all things Star Wars, make him an ideal host for the CIII stages. Doug Steves has worked for Wizards of the Coast, and he was often called upon to host many Gen Con gaming conventions With his growing knowledge of Star Wars material, it seems natural to blend these abilities together. He will be the main host for the Behind-the-Scenes stage, and will spend some time in the 500 Ballroom as well.
“Hello fellow troopers. Just wanted to know if anyone had answers to a couple of the questions I am about to ask. It appears that there may be some confusion about certain exclusives and their release dates.
First, be aware that the Holographic Yoda will not be released during Midnight Madness. It will not be released until April 10. The only exclusive that will be released at Midnight will be the Wal-Mart exclusive gift pack. Target will have the Lava Vader the morning of April 2nd. My question is, does anyone know which figures will be released on April 2nd? For AOTC, they released the 1st 27 figures, with a few deluxe figs, a few vehicles, etc. Specifically, how many, or which of the individual 3 ? figures will be released?
Second, I am unable to make a trip out to Celebration III. Being in Southern California, it is just a bit too far. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to pick me up an exclusive Vader figure? I know this may be much to ask, however I will make this vow: If there is anyone who would be willing to send me one (I will pay cost and shipping of course), I will gladly reciprocate by picking up whatever exclusive figure that will be released at the Comic Con in San Diego this summer (to pay cost plus shipping of course). I am sure Darth Spice will vouch for me on this one. I know how hard it is for people to fly across country to pick up a figure that costs $10, but hey, there has to be someone who might be interested. Please send me an email. Good luck this weekend!”
The online version of Entertainment Weekly has three "Pop Culture" quizzes based on the Star Wars universe to test your knowledge of The Force. First you're asked five questions about Episodes IV-VI, then five questions about Episodes I-II, and then five more questions about spin-off television shows. There were a couple questions that you'll probably get incorrect, but overall the questions are not that difficult. It's great trivia to use with your friends who think they know everything there is to know about Star Wars. Take the three quizzes here, and read more Star Wars news on their site.
Rumors have started flying around on the Internet, in that there could be a sequel to last year's popular multiplayer shooter Star Wars: Battlefront. It has been mentioned that there will be new levels and new AI to the sequel, but that's all we currently know about this. It is unknown when the sequel is due to be released. Read the full story here.
IGN has recently reviewed the video game LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game, and from the score they gave it looks like they thoroughly enjoyed the game. The reviewer from IGN, Jeremy Dunham, said, "LEGO Star Wars is probably one of the best children's titles on the market today." Funny he calls it a "children's game," because we all know the majority of people playing the game will be grown adults who simply love Star Wars. IGN has 69 screenshots and 18 video clips for your enjoyment. Read the full review here, and talk about it in our forums.
The once beautiful Carrie Fisher, who of course played the dramatic role of Princess Leia, has publicly announced that she is going to be write a book that will take you behind-the-scenes of Star Wars, and she is going to voluntarily do this without the need of Interrogation Droids. She said she used to keep diaries of all that took place during the making of the films, and plans on publishing them in the near future. Are they going to be worth the read? Who knows, but in her ripe age of 48 it could actually be interesting reading material. It is currently unknown when these will be published, because she hasn't even started the project yet. Read the full story here.
“Hasbro has released the list of Wal-Mart stores that will feature the 48 hours of the Force celebration on April 2nd and 3rd. Also listed is the info on the Target exclusive (Red Vader) and the Toys R Us midnight openings and exclusives (Holographic Yoda). It's going to be bigger than the other two put together!”
“Hey all, Jedimaster-C here. Check this out. It amazes me they are giving three retailers exclusives, how are you supposed to choose and or be at three places at once? Now before I get my mailbox full of Bantha Poodo, think how frustrated you will be if you miss one or two of these new exclusives. I'm trying not to buy into the rumored 50k production numbers. They said the same thing about the Imperial Shuttle a few years ago and we all know how hard that was to get. Good luck to all of you this weekend!”
“Hey Troops, Donna from So Cal hoping everyone had a great Easter. Well, a few Sith items have slipped through at TRU. Went by on Friday and to my delight there were two Ultimate 12-inch Anakins on the shelf. Also five new Lego sets were there. I only picked up the Darth Vader Transformation set but they also had Grievous Chase, Ultimate Light Saber Duel, Wookie Attack, and Wookie Catamaran. By the way, TRU was having a buy one Lego, get one 50% off sale too. During the week, picked up at Wal-Mart, the Clone Wars Cartoon DVD, both 3-pack DVD figure sets, and the new Pez including the glow-in-the-dark emperor. At Target, I was lucky enough to nab the two new Jedi Force of Anakin w/Glider and Yoda w/Stomper. Lastly, I got a nice surprise in the mail on Sat. I received the Target Mailer with the $1 off coupon for next Sat. I don't have a Target credit card but still got one. The Mailer is pretty big (6 x 8.5). Happy Hunting To All Next Weekend!”
Yes, I know this has nothing to do with Star Wars, but it's still incredible news for all the Troopers out there who loved Halo 2 and wanted more out of it! Gamespot.com has just announced that an expansion pack to Halo 2 will be available soon for the Xbox. The addtional gaming content, known as Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack, will feature nine new multiplayer battlegrounds, and Live users will get first shot at four maps beginning in April; retail version hits shelves June 28. Read more about this here.
Gamespot.com has just released their LEGO Star Wars Designer Diary #3, which happens to be titled "Feel the Force." Jonathan Smith, Development Director for the game, reveals more of the quirky development process behind the endearing action platformer. He mentions, "We decide up front to go for a third-person perspective on the player characters to make the most of our planned character variety." He also mentions, "Focusing on our goals for 'a world full of rewards and surprises,' though, as well as the ability to 'play out movie scenes in your own way,' we do develop quite specifically the idea of 'free play,' which goes on to become one of our key original features and the source of our major technical challenges." One other great thing that was mentioned was the ability to drive LEGO vehicles! This looks like it will be a great Star Wars video game for all to play, even those who are not very much attracted to the world of LEGO. Read the entire diary entry here, and be sure to share your thoughts about this game in our forums.
In case you missed it at Celebration II, Patrick Gorman brings back this fast paced, highly motivated roller coaster ride that re-inacts the Original Trilogy in 30 minutes, that's right one half hour dedicated to all three films. George Lucas commented that he was impressed they were able to find a way to make Star Wars faster and more intense." Please check out the official announcement here, and also for the various performance times.
Target has added a little bit of Star Wars flavor to their website, in preparation of the April 2nd release date for all the Episode III toys from Hasbro. On their site you can find out what your Battle Name would be, perform a little Jedi Mind Trick, and also create a short film using their Screen Maker. But best of all, is that you have the chance of winning your very own Target Exclusive Lava Darth Vader Figure! All-in-all it's a pretty cool little touch to the site, but what would be even better is if they had the toys out on shelves and pegs right now! Until then Troopers, United We Find!
“I am in need of help from one of the many Troops. I very much want a Target Exclusive Lava Vader, my dilemma is that I do not have a Target store near me and fear I may miss out on this one. If any of the Troops get lucky and can pick up an extra one please keep me in mind. I will throw in a couple extra bucks for the Troopers time. I just wish #1 that they would make enough for everyone to have one, and #2 I had a Target store near me.”
We have just finished adding several new images to our Revenge of the Sith section. Some of the images that have been uploaded are a carded and loose shot of the Red Emperor's Royal Guard and also some new images of Force Battlers (Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader, General Grievous and Obi-Wan Kenobi). A big "thanks" goes out to the members of the S.C.A.L.P. Intelligence Network for the new images! Spoiler material does apply!
We have just finished adding two new collections to our Collections page. First up is Jeff Grant's collection. It appears that Jeff likes to keeps his figures in the cards, and you can tell that he's displayed them quite nicely. Two items that jump right out at you are the Interactive R2-D2 and the Star Wars: A New Hope poster.
Next up we have Peter's collection! Peter focuses much of his collecting attention toward large figures (12-inch) and ships, but he obviously collects other items. Two great pieces in his collection are the 12-inch vintage Darth Vader and Boba Fett figures, which look great displayed in his collection.
Sale on select 12-Inch Figures:

“Here's a store report for the final Saturday of March:
Toys R Us (Gurnee, IL) “has flyers promoting the midnight sale for ROTS toys which are posted on their entrance & exit doors. They also have the new G.I. Joe exclusive 6-pack with Xamot & Crimson Guards.
Wal-Mart (Gurnee, IL) “had the Clone Wars DVD display with the commemorative 3-packs in their electronics department. They even had the new Batman Begins figures sans Scarecrow.”
This past Monday was the first of five nights this week where we would be entertained by Genndy Tartakovsky's animated Star Wars micro-series known as Clone Wars. Each evening most of us spent twelve minutes with our eyes glued to our TV sets, watching the Jedi and Republic Army fighting against the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
Sadly, tonight was the final chapter of this cartoon series, but it ended in a great way because it leads right up to where Episode III begins (in the film). If you missed tonight's episode and you're a Hyperspace member you can view it here. If you did get a chance to see it stop over in our forums and share your feedback with the rest of the Troops here.
Pepsi-Cola North America and 7-Eleven, Inc. have joined forces in an effort to make a lot of money off of the upcoming movie, Revenge of the Sith. Cases of Diet Pepsi will have Yoda plastered on them, and will be running an instant-win sweepstakes where you can win one of ten $100,000 grand prizes by playing three different ways: online, by phone, or by text messaging. Also, Yoda and Chewbacca will be in a TV commercial, where Yoda will use the Force to get himself a Pepsi, but of course there will be a bit of humor in the commercial to make it more interesting to watch. And lastly, 7-Eleven will have a special slurpee called "Darth Dew," which is basically Mountain Dew Pitch Black (last summer's popular limited-edition soda that combines Mountain Dew and black grape flavor) and will come in four different Episode III collectible 3-D cups with lids shaped like the head of Darth Vader. Read the full press release here.
More new figures at Wal-Mart, and this time I was able to purchase them. Thanks goes out to my Star Wars collecting buddy BosskMR (who still needs to join the forums). At the Westborough, MA location there were stocked pegs with all of the new figures, but to beat the system I brought up a preview figure, not to a checkout, but to the self checkout that various stores now have. I simply scanned the preview figure eight times, and was able to purchse them. I know there is only 1 week left, but to get a jump on these is better than nothing. The others I was able to purchase were Count Dooku, Mace, Greivious, Shaak Ti, Plo Koon, Yoda, Emperor Palpatine. Hope others can learn from this as well. Good luck!
“Troopers, Help me out and we all walk away happy. Here's the situation: I purchased a 4-day child's badge for my daughter to attend CIII with me. Unfortunately, she didn't inform me of the dates of a play in which she will be performing. The dates are, you guessed it, April 21 - April 24. Needless to say, she won't be using the badge. So, if you wanted to bring a son or daughter with you to CIII, but didn't purchase a badge, here's your opportunity. The badge cost me $40.00, but maybe we could work something out. C'mon, troops, you're my only hope. P.S. I'm fairly certain that Darth Spice will vouch for my reputation.”
Any guy who'd ditch his family at Great America for a War-Room Tour is a stand up Trooper in my book! Let's see if we can help out Dom!
What is the best way for retailers that don't know a "jack's rear end" about Star Wars merchandise not to create anymore mess and avoid early product spills? Well, the answer is simple: Take ALL Star Wars product back to the stock room ... and I mean ALL!
This is exactly what is going on at most retailers in my area, and according to reports coming in, it seems it is happening in many areas of the country.
It isn't anymore the I-think-you're-stupid answer we were getting when trying to purchase ROTS on the pegs: "Sir, Star Wars cannot be bought because it has been recalled" Now, in an attempt to avoid collectors claiming to buy early product and avoid further hassle, retailers such as Wal-Mart and Target have gone to an extreme and have made the entire Star Wars area totally disappear.

You will soon be able to play Revenge of the Sith anywhere you go, because sometime in May it will be available on the Nintendo Gameboy Advance system. The game will feature 2-D sideways scrolling action gameplay, and will include all the big-name characters such as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Emperor Palpatine, General Grievous, and many more. It is currently unknown how many levels you will be able to play, but it was stated that it will be faithful to the film. To read more about this and to see screenshots of this click here.
Hasbro has recently announced two new 12" action figures for the Episode III lineup, which happen to be Jedi Knights Shaak Ti and Barriss Offee. These two 12" figures show incredible detail, and each features multiple points of articulation, authentically styled Jedi clothing and a lightsaber. With these two incredibly well-made figures, this should spark an interest to Star Wars collectors and help propel the 12" action figure line. To see images of these click here.
Gamespot.com has recently written a preview for the expansion pack Rage of the Wookiees, which is an addition to the online game, Star Wars Galaxies. This preview goes into great detail in regards to the new and improved spaceships you will encounter in Rage of the Wookiees. Several Imperial fighters have been modified for improved performance, such as Darth Vader?s TIE Advanced, the TIE Fighter, and the new TIE Interceptor (specifically designed for the Emperor?s Royal Guards and is painted crimson red in color). The Rebellion is sporting new vehicles in the game as well, such as the Z95, X-Wing , ARC-170, and lastly new Jedi Starfighter (as scene in Revenge of the Sith). We even get the chance to see General Grievous? spaceship, the Belbullab-22. For those Troopers out there who already have Star Wars Galaxies, this expansion pack looks like a must-have. This is expected to be released on May 5th, which is two weeks before the release of ROTS.
Since we've been down for a short while we have had a few news stories relating to Celebration III sitting on the back burner, and here they are...
Vendors at CIII
Looking around on the main page of CIII I noticed a detailed listing of what vendors will be on hand at CIII and their booth location numbers. Some of the ones listed, and in no order are Brian's Toys, Burger King, Hasbro, Federation Toys Dark Horse, 3-Day Blinds, Gentle Giant Studios, Jakks Pacific, The Topps Company and many others. It seems like your whole one-stop Star Wars shopping center will be available for four days. Also, there is a blueprint of the layout to help you find your way around (Exhibitors and Exhibit Hall Layout). There are going to be so many areas you will go insane. Man, is my money going to be gone quick!
CIII Art Show
Exclusive Star Wars Art for your viewing pleasure, as well as for sale. You will have the opportunity to purchase art from main Star Wars artists that will have reproductions of various pieces. You will also have the chance to have custom art work done by request. You will see the art from cartoon images to our favorite characters from all six of the movies. Get your Star Wars artwork/pictures done the right way... by the experts. This is no stinking "Glamour Shots" or beach free hand artist you will be dealing with. Check out the official release here. There will be various times that the art shows will be opened.
Mug Shots for CIII
OfficialPix, the company that is in charge of the autographs for CIII, have released some of the official pictures that will be available for purchase for you to get signed by the actors and actresses of Star Wars. These will be exclusive for CIII only, but if you can not attend they are also offering a binder full of non-signed pictures that will be available in the future as well. There are many photos to chose from, with the actors shown out of character or in full blown action. There are some really cool looking photos.
Steve Sansweet, Lucasfilm?s Director of Content Management and Fan Relations, recently told Now Playing Magazine that Lucasfilm is most certainly going to bring the Star Wars universe to television in the not so distant future. Sansweet was quoted by saying the following: "We are looking into all kinds of things for the future. We?re looking for television clearly: animation [and] we are looking into live action television.". Obviously this is great news to all Star Wars fans, because we've been curious to know what will happen after Revenge of the Sith comes out in theaters on May 19th. There were rumors about Star Wars coming to television, but just as I mentioned they were simply rumors and are now truly factual. Read the full story here.
The web developers over at Lucasfilm must have been putting in extra hours at the office, because they have re-designed the look of the Official Site's front page in honor of Revenge of the Sith. The background is primarily black and red in color with Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi dueling with their lightsabers on the fiery lava planet of Mustafar, and in the foreground we have several rotating images of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, General Grievous, and many more. You can now download ROTS desktop wallpaper and AOL Buddy Icons, learn more about the characters and planets in ROTS, go behind the scenes of ROTS, and even view the pictures in the ROTS Gallery. The main chunk of the Star Wars website hasn't changed, but just the front page and pages relating to ROTS. Go to the Official Site to see the new look for yourself, and cast your vote over in our forums if you like the new look or if you hate it.
PLEASE NOTE: You must have the latest version of Macromedia Flash installed on your computer in order to navigate throughout the main Star Wars front page.
The official Celebration III site has opened up a limited amount of premium hotel rooms for today only. Hop on your Speeder Bike and try to get yourself a room, if you don't want to sleep on someone else's floor, or your even in the backseat of your car. Please check out the official announcment here.
Last night millions of Star Wars fans had their eyes and ears glued to their TVs, waiting to watch the highly anticipated 21st chapter of the animated Clone Wars on Cartoon Network. I didn't watch it live because I wasn't home, but it certainly was recorded by my trusty Tivo box. The second I made it home I turned on my TV, brought up the Tivo menu and started up Chapter 21.
Right off the bat you're on board one of the Republic Gunships, this time it resembles an old World War II bomber with that shark's grin on the front of it, and the heroic ARC Troopers are prepping up for a major battle with General Grievous. What is their mission? Their mission is to rescue all the Jedi who haven't already been slaughtered by General Grievous. Several Jedi and a few ARC Troopers died on the battle field, but that wasn't going to put a damper on their rescue mission.
The rest of Chapter 21 seemed a little weak to me, but now that these episodes are twelve minutes long Genndy Tartakovsky and his team of artists don't have to cram so much action in each episode just to make it a successful show. We learn about Anakin's encounter with the tree on what looks to be Dagobah, just as Luke Skywalker had his encounter with the cave in the Empire Srikes Back. We also get to see C-3PO for the very first time in his gold-plated body, but I think Tartakovsky should have made that scene a little serious than what we saw last night. We witnessed Anakin and Padme's love for each other grow stronger, and best of all we saw Anakin become a Jedi Knight of the Republic.
If you happened to miss last night's episode and you're a Hyperspace member you can view it here. If you did get a chance to see it stop over in our forums and share your feedback with the rest of the Troops here. And as a reminder do not forget that Chapter 22 will air tonight at 7:00pm (ET) on the Cartoon Network.
The man who brought Jango Fett to all of us in AOTC will now be heading to Celebration III in Indianapolis to sign autographs as well as a question and answer session. Temuera who will be playing not only Commander Cody in the Revenge of the Sith but will also be playing various Clone Troopers throughout the new film as well is Boba Fett's father. Make sure your are able to get Daniel Logan (young Boba Fett in AOTC) and Jeremy Bulloch's (Boba Fett in TESB and ROTJ) autographs at CIII as well to make the Fett Family Circle complete. Check out the official announcement here.
“That?s right only 30 days left until Celebration 3 rolls into Indianapolis for another Star Wars convention. I, along with you have been counting down the days since I ordered my badge, hotel, and airfare back in September. Yesterday marked the first day of spring and here in New England it?s been one rough winter. In my area of Massachusetts we have had over 105 inches of snow this winter season. I am so sick of shoveling it, driving in it, and even looking at it. CIII has been my motivation through this, not to mention the championships of the Red Sox and the Patriots. Sorry, I just had to say it once again.
Now on to CIII. How are you going to spend all of that hard earned money you have been saving up? Are you going to look for all of the older products or just focus on the new stuff? Will you spend it all on 40+ celebrities that will be on hand signing autographs? Or will you drink it all away in the endless party atmosphere of Indianapolis? As you all head to and from Indy, try to capture your experience on what is was like for you, your family or your friends. Were you treated well? Were the lines frustrating? Were you able to get all of the CIII exclusives? Did you miss me buying the first rounds? I along with the other staff members here will be documenting our experiences of this event and would like to view yours as well. So, when you find time on that long car ride, or flight home try to capture what your life was like for the time spent in Indianapolis and send it in to us here. Thanks, and I hope to meet all of the Troops at CIII.”
POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING: Hasbro has just released new images of their Revenge of the Sith deluxe lineup, and I was blown away at how cool some of these are. The items that were released today were the following: Yoda on Can-Cell, Darth Vader on Operating Table, Clone Trooper with Winged Jet Backpack, and the Vulture Droid. The best of these has got to be Darth Vader on Operating Table. From the looks of it, you get to be the surgeon by applying the chest place, feet (if you look closely enough he doesn't have any feet), his right gauntlet, and of course his infamous helmet! To see all the incredible images click here, and be sure to talk about these new items over in our forums.
This is a friendly reminder to all the Troopers out there, that the Clone Wars, Volume II will be on at 7:00pm (ET) every night this week on Cartoon Network. Airing each night will be a 12-minute episode and will include chapters 21-25. Be sure to have your VCRs and Tivo boxes ready to record this, because you don't want to miss this!
|Republic Commando, one of the hottest Star Wars games to ever make it to a gaming console, has been reviewed by another online source, this time by The Electric New Paper. The author of this review, Ian Tan, gave the game a good 8/10 score, but from the tone in his writing you can tell he's not much of a Star Wars fan. That's good though, because we're able to read a very unbiased review of the game. He believes this will be an incredible game for novices, but could be rather boring for advanced gamers. |I noticed in the Sunday ads of our Chicago Tribune today that there are a few Star Wars DVDs on sale. The first DVD I noticed that was on sale is the animated Clone Wars, Volume 1 DVD, which will be available this coming Tuesday and will only cost $12.99 at Best Buy. This DVD contains the first twenty chapters, and will also include a sneak peek at Revenge of the Sith.|
Circuit City has both The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Cloneson sale for only $11.99. Most of us probably already own TPM and AOTC on DVD, but for those who don't own it already them those are pretty good prices.
“Hey Troops! My Wife was at our local Wally World last night, and found the first wave of EPIII figures. Of course, being at home, I was excited to here this. Apparently, as she was checking out, the cashier and a manger wouldn't allow her to purchase the new figures. They told my Wife they were recalled, and gave my Wife a hard time when she asked why they would be put out on the store floor. I want to drop a thermal detonator in the middle of the place. The local Mentor Wal-mart is worthless any more. Anyway, here's a list of the figures they had. 2 Anakin, 2 Obi-wan, Yoda, R2, Vader, Chewy, Tarful, and 2 others I cant remember. Good luck troops. They are coming.”
George Lucas told people at the Las Vegas convention, ShoWest, yesterday that he wants to re-release his all of his Star Wars films in 3-D, beginning in the year 2007. He would release one film in 3-D each year, until all six movies were released in that 3-D format. I can't wait to see "A New Hope" in 3-D, with that massive Star Destroyer chasing the Tantive IV just about Tatooine. Read more about this here.
George Lucas recently compared his soon-to-be released movie, Revenge of the Sith, with the 1997 movie Titanic. Lucas was quoted by saying the following: "I describe it as a 'Titanic' in space. It's a real tearjerker, and it will be received in a way that none of us can expect." Read the full story here.
“Just wanted to let you know that on Saturday April 2nd and Sunday April 3rd selected Wal-Mart stores will be unveiling the new figures with a large bash under the Tent! Each selected Wal-Mart (400 in all) will feature a 30 x 60 tent in the parking lot to display and sell all the new figures and merchandise. Tent opens when the store does so check your local store hours. If your store has a large display near the entryway that reads Come celebrate the Star Wars saga with Wal-Mart April 2nd and 3rd then you are in luck. So far our local SoCal Wal-Mart has said there are no special promotions or flyers to be handed out but they'll let me know if they do get more information or someting new in for the event. Let's go shopping!”
Gentle Giant has recently announced that they will be producing three different Sandtrooper busts for this year. The Sandtrooper Corporal will be a Celebration III exclusive, and the others Sandtrooper busts will be availble for purchase online. Read the full story here.

A new collection has just been added to our Collections section. The newest addition comes from Sandtrooper Ryan Miller. As you can probably tell, this Trooper keeps most of his toys in their boxes and on their cards, but he's done a great job displaying them in his Star Wars room. To check out his collection click here.
Hasbro has just announced a new interactive toy for their Episode III product line, and the newest addition is the Call Upon Yoda! figure. This is a similar toy to the one that was released when the Saga and OTC Talking Yodas were out in stores, but this one has many more features. This Yoda says more than 500 different phrases, and has activities such as storytelling, trivia and wisdom. He's 12" inches in height, and has many animated features including eyes, ears, eyelids and mouth. This Yoda is the closest thing to the real deal. I owned the original Talking Yoda figure, but was unimpressed with it and traded it away, but this new Yoda seems to be such a huge improvement that might just have to pick up one for myself.
Rick McCallum will appear on stage at Celebration III for interviews and a question and answer format, as well as a special surprise for all in attendance. Rick surprised everyone at C2 with exlusive footage from Attack of the Clones, so one would only hope that he would do the same this time around. Make sure you bring your best questions with you, for Rick loves being at these events and enjoys talking about the producing duties he performs for our favorite Star Wars movies. He will be located in the 500 Ballroom and the Sagamore Ballroom. Please check back as the times he will be appearing are not yet set, and check out the official announcment here.
If you're a fan of work that comes from Dark Horse Comics, then you're going to be in for a big surprise come this April 2nd. Dark Horse will be releasing their latest and great graphical novel titled Star Wars: Visionaries. Included in this work are illustrations by the concept artists who helped envision the worlds, characters and story of Episode III.
This Friday (March 18th) at 5:30pm (ET) Mary Franklin, the woman that is getting everything, and I mean everything from the bottom up together for Celebration III, will be available for an exclusive chat for Hyperspace members only. Mary will also be the one in charge of all of the fan kits as well. If you have any questions regarding CIII, Mary will more than likely be able to answer them for you. If you are not a Hyperspace member make sure to sign up and not miss this one (you can purchase Hyperspace membership at StarWarsShop.com). We are only six weeks away from CIII and any inside tips on catching it all will help out in the end. Please check out the official announcement here.
Almost a month before the massive attack of Episode III merchandise hits us, Unleashed presented us again with another amazing wave of fantastically sculpted figures.
Making up Wave 12 as the first three figures of the Line for 2005 are two Original Trilogy characters and one PT/Expanded Universe female bounty hunter surely to please every one.
Although the characters are definitely well rendered in their plastic incarnations, this Wave offers a tad more. A bit of frustration, a mini surprise and a bit of intrigue! Read all about it and see the detailed pictures. An all new Unleashed update is up. Enjoy!
“Finally some ROTS news from Central Texas! The Wal-Mart in Killeen finally broke down and broke the street date for new stuff. This morning my eyes sparkled as I was dazzled by all of the RotS stuff hanging around! There were pegs full of basic figures to include: Plo Koon, Obi-Wan, R2-D2, Tarful, Chewbacca, Super Battle Droid, etc. Also available were the Battling figures, Vader, Obi-Wan, Grievous & Anakin and these were very sweet looking! Also available were the new lightsabers. All in all a very nice and palatable find, but they were missing the Unleashed figures, but that's because there was over 15 Pilot Luke's Unleashed choking the pegs. All the other local stores are almost bare, with Target having basic & cartoon figures on clearance, K-Mart still wanting $7+ per basic fig, TRU has some of the POTC Cantina wave left and a lot of old SAGA still hanging around. That's all the news from Central Texas, Starfox signing off...”

“I was just wondering if anyone out there knows what?s going on with the guys at Kebco Toys? I had joined their one on every figure club, and things were good at first. But then in December I had an invoice for 13 figures which have been paid for (shipping included) and they never even changed the status. They still show on my acct as pending. I've been sending numerous emails only to never get a reply, and when I try calling the phone number on their site it rings twice then disconnects. Anyone else out there been having a problem with these guys or at least heard from then recently? I'll never order from them again even if I do ever get my figures that I paid for.”

George Lucas will be on 60 Minutes later this very hour, and will talk about his final movie Revenge of the Sith. It is rumored that his interview will be on near the end of the show, so you should have plenty of time to either tape it or record it on your Tivo. Lucas was quoted at saying, "[The film] is much more dark... more emotional. It's much more of a tragedy. My feeling is that it will probably be a PG-13, so it will be the first 'Star Wars' that's a PG-13." Read the full scoop here, and when you're finished watching this feel free to express your opinions over in this thread.
Troops, I wanted to let everyone know that I have three Unleashed figures available for immediate trade, and the ones I'm referring to are Darth Sidious, Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi (all repack versions). If you are in need of these please check out my trade list, and perhaps we could work something out. Send me an email if you're interested.
Thank you for looking, and United We Find!
“Holy smokes Troopers! Martha gets out and the Sith hits the fan at K-mart. I saw collection 2 minus any clones...DRAT... no collection 1. Double drat. No deluxe well you get the idea. I will gladly pick up any if someone has Vader, Deluxe Anakin. and Troopers. I have to hand it to Hasbro the sculpts are great! Can't wait for the Vintage Prequel Collection. In two years. By the way the way the trailer is incredible. This one will pass empire for sure. K-dog the South-Central- Jersey-close to Philly Trooper out.”
10-4 Trooper, we'll get your transfer information recorded and update your files soon!
Toledo, OH: “If you didn't know, the Super Soaker Star Wars Revenge of the Sith Wookiee Water Blaster is available at Toys R Us.com for $14.99 which is 25% off. Myself, I'm waiting for an ARC-170 Fighter. Keep on Sandtroopin'. Trooper Jon out.”
Staff member Boba Binks has added two new images to the Jedi Force guide, and the newest additions are Anakin Skywalker and Yoda. The Anakin figure looks pretty cool, but I'm not so sure about the Yoda figure. Yoda looks like he spent too much time with Homer Simpson at the Springfield power plant!
Hey Troopers, following YOUR leads I saddled my Dewbacks and set out with the Padawans. We headed out with the letter K marked on our maps. A search of the Kmart Store on Belevidere Rd. in Waukegan, IL turned up all three new Unleashed figures and the new Deluxe sets, at $18.99 price tags I took the Zero! I am on my way out to the surrounding areas of Southern Wisconsin too see if the Cheese aims to please. Keep the reports coming in, let's continue to March our way to completing our colletions. Good luck to you Troopers, take no Prisoners, Show No Mercy.
Not in the Star Wars Universe though. He just can't get away from this theme. Ewan McGregor the actor who portrays Obi-Wan Kenobi has another film due out on July 22nd, just 2 months after The Return of the Sith is released. His new movie is called "The Island" which is directed by Michael Bay and is from Dreamwork Films. This movie though is no trip in a tropical paradise. McGregor plays 2 characters in this movie that is based around "Human Clonning" His character Lincoln Six-Echo is a resident of a carefully controlled enviroment. He soon discovers that everything he knows is a lie, and that he is actually a human clone that will be used as "spare" parts for his human counterpart (the other character he plays in the movie) Tom Lincoln, who is a highly regarded boat designer who is sick and is dying from liver disease. Lincoln Six-Echo escapes this slaughter house with a fellow cloner Jordan Two-Delta, played by the ever sexy Scarlett Johansson. Both race for their lives to literally meet there makers face to face. The cast will also include Steve Buscemi, Djimon Hounsou, Sean Bean, and Michael Clark Duncan. To learn more about this upcoming movie click here.
I too have finally found some new ROTS figures at my local Wal-Mart-Oxford, MA. These however were not on the pegs. It's still winter in New England so the garden center in Wal-Mart is being used as a stockroom, as well as an area for items to be sold. There was a whole section of new Star Wars toys on atleast 2 skids way in the corner. I made my way to these with a crew of workers out there as well. I managed to open the boxes to get 10 new figures before stockers were nearby. I wanted to get in and out with no one noticing me and I did. I hope to stop back in tomorrow to get some more. The all rang in at $5.24 each. The ones I was able to get my hands on were: Obi Wan, Chancellor Palpatine, Bail Organa, Plo Koon, C-3P0, Padme', Kit Fisto, Mon Mothma, Tarfful, and Yoda.
Staff member Boba Binks has added a new image to the Gentle Giant Busts guide, and that newest addition is IG-88. I, too, just recently acquired this bust and the level of detail is amazing! He comes with his blaster and blaster rifle, and looks like he's ready to kick some major butt! Click here to see a larger image of the IG-88 bust from Gentle Giant.
“Hey Troops, Donna from So Cal here. ROTS have hit K-mart. Went by on Friday and to my surprise, I found the Deluxe figs (Anakin, Obi-wan, and Grievous but no Palpatine). They also had the repackaged Vader voice changer. Then went by TRU and found Darth Tater. Also like most troopers, I found the mid-size vehicles and ROTS galactic heroes at Target. Wal-mart had the voice changer and the new light sabers. Haven't had any luck yet in finding basic figs. Happy Hunting!”
“Hey all, Jedimaster-C here. Hey check this out. I went to KB last Monday and happened on a VOTC 12-inch Boba Fett for a mere 16 bucks. It was just looking for a home. I am going to liberate it from its box. Check these KB's you never know. While RotS merchandise is leaking all over, I have learned to be content with what I have! Thank You Sandtroopers!”
That's right. A whopping 40 Star Wars celebrity guests are now confirmed for Celebration III in Indy. The latest to the addition is none other than the boy who is gifted, and will give balance to the force. Jake Lloyd (Young Anakin Skywalker) from "The Phantom Menanace" will be on hand to answer the question of what was it like to play the boy that would later turn into Darth Vader! Please check out the Official Site for more information.
Sandtrooper staff members Sand Snipe and WedgeWannaBe get scruffy looking as they don their mercenary gear and help the Rebel Alliance take on both the evil Empire as well as the Black Sun criminal organization. In this latest installment of our video games review section, Snipe and Wedge dissect another game from days gone past with Shadows of the Empire. One of the original releases for the Nintendo N-64 platform, Shadows of the Empire gave a new spin on both the Star Wars universe as well as the future of gaming consoles. Check out the review to see if that future was bright or one that truly lurked in the Shadows of the Empire. Be sure to share your opinions about this game in our forums.
“Here's another small report for today:
Toys R Us (Gurnee, IL) “had 1 Unleashed IG-88 & 1 Unleashed Aurra Sing.
Target (Gurnee, IL) “has no Star Wars section in their action figure aisle, at least until 4/2/05. They did have the new G.I. Joe 3-packs that come with a reprinted comic book. One set comes with Duke, Destro, & Roadblock. The second one comes with Snake Eyes, Red Ninja, & Storm Shadow, which look identical to the original version back in '84. The third one has Serpentor, Firefly, & Scrap Iron. That's all for now. Later.”
“Troops, I had a previous engagement last night so, like any true fan, I set the 'ole VCR to record The OC. When I got home, I found that the show had been preempted by a womens' college basketball game. AAHHHH! But that's okay because I was just now able to view the trailer on starwars.com and it is killer. I don't know which image is my favorite, but right up there has to be when Mace Windu, Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin, and Kit Fisto walk in on bad-boy Palpatine and arrest him with light sabers locked and loaded! Anyway who isn't totally jazzed by this trailer can go watch reruns of Oprah and The View. CU @ C3.”
CBS News recently announced their "Top 5 Xbox Picks" for the year, and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords was one of the lucky contenders to have made that list. Read more about this and see what other games ranked high in CBS's "Top 5 Xbox Picks" here.
Hasbro has recently unveiled two images of the new Unleashed figures, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The amount of detail has dramatically increased since the original Unleashed figures (Jango Fett, Darth Maul, etc), and a new feature for the Unleashed line is that you can connect these two to make a great-looking lightsaber duel. Head on over to their site to check out the loose and carded images in greater detail.
The folks in charge of the autographs for Celebration III (Official Pix) have announced the costs involved with the coupons you have to purchase to get an autograph. As of right now there are 39 celebrity guests announced which should top well over 40 in the next few days. Coupons will cost $10.00 each. 12 out of the 39 celebrities are 2 coupons each which will cost you $20.00, while 27 out of 39 will cost you $10.00 each. Both costs will be for items you bring to get signed. An additional cost of $5.00 will get you an official CIII logo photo for you to purchase to get signed as well.
With everyting added up, if you were to purchase every autograph at CIII including the purchase of the $5.00 photo, this would cost you $705.00 dollars. If you brought your own item to get signed it only would cost you $510.00 dollars. Bringing your own item would be the way to go, but lugging everything with you would be another issue.
Please check out the Official Pix website for all of the information.

On the "Tonight Show" at 11:30pm tonight, Jay welcomes Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) to the show to plug his role in the new animation "Robots" that open up nation wide tomorrow. |Celebration III is more than a month away, and that means many people are taking out second mortgages, cashing in on their 401k?s, and are working a second job so they could have some play money for the big event. Unfortunately I have never attended a Star Wars Celebration event, and I will be unable to attend this year?s grand event because I have another prior engagement. However, the staff at Sandtroopers would like to know if you plan on attending Celebration III, and if so we?d like to know about it. Let us know by simply replying to this thread in the forums, and hopefully we can all get together to enjoy the moment as a whole. For more information about C3 please check out our special section of the site, devoted entirely to everything concerning it. Hope to see you there!|
It?s that time again we?re we go "Back in Time" to visit one of our older Dewback Patrol missions. Last time we took you back to our Wizard World Chicago 2004 experience, and this time we?re going to a much smaller avenue? the Kane County Toy Show.
This specific outing means a lot to me, because this was the first day I started working for Sandtroopers.com. I met up with Darth Spice and the now retired Jason D. Myers for the very first time. Even though I had gotten to the toy show at 7:00am and was finished by 10:00am, I still waited around for those two to show up (they were running late and weren?t at the show yet). Once they arrived, I walked around with them sharing my ideas on where the site could go, what we could do to improve ourselves, and how to make us the best Star Wars collecting site on the Internet. To remind me of this outing, I purchased a POTF2 12? Sandtrooper (loose) for $10, which stands at attention in my collection. Every time I see that in my collection I think about me enlisting in the Sandtrooper army.
So, without boring you any further, fasten your seatbelt and prepare to go back in time to visit the Kane County Toy Show!
“Hey Troops, News from East Central Whiskey: Did a late run to Target and found Gen. Grevious' Wheel Bike and Anakin's Starfighter.I already had Anakin's ride, but was happy to pick up the General's. Also they had Unleashed IG-88 and Aura on clearance (???) for $10.00! But I didn't stop there. I asked a red shirt if she would check in the back for Obi's Starfighter. When she did, the little guy who lives in her walkie-talkie said that they only had Droid Tri-fighters. I said I'll take it and she ran back and got it for me. I left with a happier heart and a lighter wallet. Target's been coming through for me lately. This is the place to watch. Jedi Dom, out!”

It?s been a while since I posted on here, I have been taking in a lot of me time, I do keep in touch with all the area reports! So if you don?t know then here we go. Targets have been dropping four of the mid-size ships, & Galactic Heroes. Shipments vary for store but out here in Southern Cali Thursday & Friday arrivals, have them hitting shelves Friday-Saturdays. The big scoop is that all Wal-Mart?s in the S.F.V. seem to be getting daily shipments of EIII figs, which since Monday have joined the company of EIII Lightsabers, Force Battlers, Unleashed, and 3 ? figures on minimum shelf time. Since this will all be in abundance. It?s every retailer for them selves. Midnight madness Friday night at Toys R Us, and April 2-3 should also be a very big Star Wars weekend tent extravaganza! For your select Wal-Mart?s. I wish I had more info in regards to the Yoda & Vader exclusives, hopefully in time. I have found Col. 1 wave 2, And Col 2 wave 1, so remember the early bird gets the worm, if you can?t wait! On the hunt.”|
Wow! Four days without internet access and all Sith breaks loose. After seeing all the posts of people finding items at Target I went out on a hunt for my birthday. I stopped at several Target stores here in Indy and like many of you picked up the new Galactic Heroes, Obi-Wan's Starfighter, Tri Droid Fighter, and Grievous's Wheel Bike. While hunting for new toys at Target I notice two Target stores reset the Star Wars area. Items to be on the look out for are as follows:
They also had the basic figures, Clone Wars Figures, and Unleashed on reduced price. One last thing. I picked up at Target two new Sith Items. They are the Spin Pops. The two are Darth Vader and Chewbacca. When you push on the button the characters arm moves up and down and the lolly pop spins above their head. They are $3.00 each in the candy area. Happy Hunting!
Adam Brody, who plays the role of Seth Cohen on FOX's hot show " The O.C.," is a huge fan of Star Wars, couldn't be more excited with the Episode III trailer being aired during their show this Thursday night (March 10, 8:00-9:00pm ET/PT). Believe it or not, there were several instances where Star Wars quotes were used in previous episodes of "The O.C." Read all of them and more here.
Troops, more Star Wars celebrities have been announced for Celebration III. This latest announcement includes Matt Wood, the voice of General Grevious. Matt has worked as the Supervising Sound Editor in TPM and AOTC. His other credits include work on films such as Titan A.E., The 13th Warrior, Armageddon, Con Air, and Mission Impossible. Other guests announced are: Michonne Bourriague (Aurra Sing), Nalini Krishan (Bariss Offee) David Barclay/Toby Philpott (Jabba Puppeteers), Sean Crawford (Yak Face), Ian Liston (Wes Janson), Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar), and Femi Taylor (Oola). Please check out the Official Site for all of the details.
DVD Talk has written up a great review about the soon-to-be-released animated Star Wars: Clone Wars DVD. They gave this DVD a fairly decent review, but they do have one major complaint about it. What is that complaint, when most of us thought the animated series as a whole was great? They state, "it doesn't really bridge the films, as it sorta promises." However, one great plus about this DVD is that it includes the 2-minute Episode III Teaser Trailer, presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Surround. Read the full review here, and be sure to pre-order yourself one over at StarWarsShop.com.
Troops, have you ever been "forced" to take the wife/girlfriend to something other than a Star Wars movie or some kind of "guy" thing. Has she asked you for tickets to a play or musical? Well, here's your chance to make it up to her... sort of. If you're attending Celebration III you will be able to witness the musical version of Star Wars. It will be available for your viewing pleasure various times throughout the event. Please check out the Official Site for all of the details.
Troops, a couple of weeks ago I posted on how "Official Pix", the company that will be the group in charge of autographs for Celebration III, sent out a request for anyone attending to be a volunteer. They have been filtering through the lists of people interested in giving up some of their valuable time to be a part of what will be a crazy area. I was selected as one of the volunteers for this event. I don't know my official part yet, but could be sitting right next to one of the Star Wars celebs at CIII. I will keep you posted as to what I will be doing. If you happen to come across a bald headed guy that looks like Mr. Clean, stop by and say hi. I will give an update as soon as I get more info. Thanks.
In case you haven't heard, Republic Commando has been out in stores for almost a week now, and it's also one of the most talked about video games out there. This time it was the Marin Independent Journal's turn to talk about this exciting new game from LucasArts. They make a lot of great points, but what really hit the nail on the head was their following statement: "What sets this game apart isn't its equipment, but the squad itself."
Luckily, I was able to pick up this game over the weekend, I put in about four hours so far, and I must say the game is simply amazing. Until I read this article, I hadn't even thought about the fact that there are no Jedi running around with lightsabers, you don't fly any fancy ships, and you don't get to drive any combat vehicles. You're a Clone Commando in the Republic army, and your job is to kick some major Separatist butt!
You can read the full news article here, and be sure to talk about this in our forums.

“Heads up Troopers. Found the Darth Tater Mr. Potato Head at the Morse Road Toys R Us. Also the Unleashed IG-88 and Aurra Sing figures. If any Trooper can get me the Celebration 3 exclusive Darth Vader figure I would be grateful - will buy or trade for it.”
Troopers, I have some great news! I made a quick stop at one of the Target stores by my house, and was successful in finding something new... all three of the new Galactic Heroes Episode III sets (Obi-Wan Kenobi & General Grievous, Emperor Palpatine & Yoda, and Anakin Skywalker & Count Dooku). The funny part is that I wasn't even looking for these, and I happened to literally stumble upon them. I was there in hopes of finding some new Episode III basic figures and vehicles, but instead finding these Galactic Herores was a very nice surprise. Check out the pictures of them here!
“Just thought I would let everyone know that I also found all 4 of the newly released vehicles at the Target in Murrieta, Ca yesterday. The Tri-Droid fighter, wheel bike, Anakin's and Obi-Wan's Starfighters. I left all 4 of them on the shelf as I really did not feel justified paying $80 plus. I did want everyone to know that they are out there, just be patient. It would appear that they are stocked one each to a case, meaning more than likely, one or two of them will be more popular than others, leaving overstock of the others. Still looking for the Post OTC wave, including the Sandtrooper, Scout Trooper and Stormtrooper. Anyone have access to these? Send me an email.”
“Hi Troopers. Sorry I haven't posted for while. I moved to Boston, and it is a major pain to make any real toy runs here. I did find the Sneak Preview Anakin's Jedi Starfighter at the Target in Everett, MA this afternoon. It's a nice toy. I didn't see any evidence of the April 2nd releases though. I'm getting ready for a midnight toy run with the hopes of snagging an ARC-170 Fighter. To all the lucky Troopers heading to C-III, I'll see you there on the 21st. Trooper Jon out.”
"Troopers, not only the Force, but also the luck of the Irish was with me today as I scored General Grievous? Wheel Bike and Obi-Wan?s Starfighter! I had to go out to my parents' to move furniture and figured that I should hit a nearby Target on the way there. I couldn?t believe my luck as I saw these gems sitting on the shelf next to a pair of Anakin Starfighters.
No Episode III figures, but all other Star Wars figures were on clearance to make room for the upcoming onslaught of figures on April 2nd. So, if you are looking for the new Episode III vehicles or a cheap Sly Moore, head out to your! local Target with your four-leaf clover. Good luck! Sandtrooper Jetfire out!"
“Hey Troops! Trooper Larry reporting. Sorry it?s been so long, but I?ve been out scouting the universes outskirts. Not much of anything to report as far as new figures go. I haven?t been so lucky to find all of the animated figures. The Clones mainly, but at least I?ve found some. All the pre-view figs have been in the area with only the Wookiee Warrior hanging around. Other than that, just finding old OTC figs on clearance. I managed to score a second SA Bobba Fett for 5 bucks at Wal-mart. My final thought for the night, is its good to be home. I've missed all the Troops.”
“Lin Que here with a quick update.... went to K-mart this morning and saw more RotS lightsabers. They had Yoda, Anakin, Obi-wan, and Mace for 23.99. I wanted Anakin's but didn't want to pay K-mart prices. Hey does anyone know a good place to get Xevoz? I'm really interested in Wave 4, which won't be released here in the States. If anyone has an overseas contact (Asia) or knows a good person/place I can hit up please shoot me an email. Lin Que out!”
“Here's a tiny report during this slow period until 4/2/05.
Target (Gurnee, IL) “has the OTC lightsabers with the bonus DVD. They also marked down the Preview figures as well. That's all for now. We're getting there Troops!”
“Hey all, I don't want to rant but our stores are very good at obeying the April 2nd release date. I haven't seen much of anything. There are some reports of find RotS stuff early. Not in my area. Our stores are like Fort Knox right now concerning RotS.
Update 3-5: I saw the Tri Droid and Obi-wan?s Starfighter at Target this morning. I didn't see the Wheelwbike. I thought that looked cool but I am more excited about the Clone Fighter.”
“Hey Troops, Donna from So Cal here with a long overdue report. The preview wave and Anakin's Starfighter has hit Target, Wal-Mart and TRU. The only pegwarmer is the Wookiee Warrior. The animated figs are also at all three stores with the three different colored Clone Troopers. The only new items I picked up recently were Lego items. Picked up the Vader TIE, Jedi Starfigher w/Droid and the very impressive Imperial Inspection. No sign yet of the new Unleashed figs nor early releases of the ROTS figs. Happy Hunting to all!”
“Hey Troops, Just picked up the Preview Starfighter at the local Target in East Central Whiskey and it is sweet. One of the best features is the roomy cockpit. You'll have no trouble fitting Anakin in it, unlike the problems we had with Zam Wessel's speeder. No one can get in that thing. Also, the bottomless R2 isn't as bad as I thought it would be. It comes with stickers to replicate R2's front and back and the dome actually rotates like any R2 figure. Of course, if you're a stickler for accuracy you could stick an actual R2 figure in the droid socket. The ship clearly has TIE-fighter influences such as the "spider web" forward window and the pop-out wings, which seem to have solar panels on the insides. The stickers are okay. I like the fact that the battle damage sticker placement is left up to you. You can place them wherever you like or not at all. In short, a great ship. Now where in Kashyyyk is the Super Soaker? Jedi Dom out!”
StarWarsShop.com has another new item on their site that just might interest all fans of Republic Commando... the exclusive Republic Commando Maquette. This item will be limited to 400 pieces worldwide, was sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios, measures approximately 7.5" tall, and will be available in June. However, there's one downfall about ordering this piece... you must be a Hyperspace member if you plan on adding this to your collection. Add this item to your wishlist here.
“Some big news from Central Texas today! I stopped at Target in Killeen today and they have their entire Star Wars section on clearance already. All POTC & ROTS Preview figures were marked down to $4.88, Unleashed figures marked down to $10.98 and Light Sabers w/ DVD down to $12.98, Cartoon figures down to $5. All the other local stores are kind of dry. That?s all from Central Texas, Starfox signing off....”

“Hey there Troops. The time is closing in and there is not much going on around here. It is the quiet before the storm. Most everyone has the Preview wave (in abundance) and only one Wal-Mart and the TRU have the Preview Starfighter. So all is well. Been caught up for a while now and trying to save my cash for April 2nd and then C3. Just not a whole lot to report other wise. Got a great deal from Sandtrooper Starfox on a Cantina Set 2 (since I have no Kmart here) and also the Saga KB TIE. Thanks again for the great deal and great shipping! So lets all enjoy this moment of anticipation... Hunt'em Down Troops.”
Just when you thought things were cooling down for Star Wars collectors, Hasbro decides to throw us another image of an upcoming product... the Mustafar Final Duel Playset. The set includes two action figures: Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi. To read more about this click here.

Well, soon you'll be able to enjoy those kind of evenings, when Hasbro releases their new game in April called "Star Wars Trivial Pursuit DVD."|
The game will include over 700 video questions, 1,800 card questions, four brand new metallic pawn movers, game board, scoring wedges and instructions. The questions will cover all six Star Wars films, and will cover six different categores including the following: The Cantina, The Force, Heroes, Villains & Scoundrels, The Saga, A Galaxy Far, Far Away, and Hyperspace. |Of course we all know that Revenge of the Sith will be the final Star Wars film ever, and George Lucas won't be laying his lightsaber down quietly. With only a couple months to spare, Lucas is building his own army to make ROTS his most successful movie ever. In an effort to bring in as much possible revenue, Lucas and his company (Lucasfilm) are teaming up with several different companies like Pepsi, Burger King, Kellogg's, Mars candies and others, and by doing this ROTS will be the most publicized and advertised Star Wars film of all. The last time Lucas engaged in this type of activity was with his first prequel film, The Phantom Menace. Read more about this here.|
Hasbro has updated their web with two stunning images including the Republic Gunship and ARC-170 Fighter. This is the third re-hashing of the Republic Gunship, but I must say that this is the best-looking paintjob yet. Plus, this will give Star Wars collectors another opportunity to pick up more of these for your armies and/or dioramas.
The ARC-170 Fighter is a completely new vehicle by Hasbro, and this is definitely going to be one of the hottestt Episode III products to come out this year. This ship is the predecessor to the Original Trilogy's X-wing Fighter, but this is slightly different in that it doesn't hold just one pilot but three PLUS an astromech droid!
Get ready for the full trailer for Revenge of the Sith starting next Thursday, March 10th on FOX during their show The O.C., and then with the movie Robots on March 11th. Check out the official announcement and the other ways to view the trailer here.
In case you haven't heard all the news, Republic Commando is out in stores now! However, we have heard some reports that people cannot find this game in their area, but that doesn't mean it's not out there now. Luckily though, you can order this on LucasArts' website if you want. After you've played it for a bit be sure to voice your opinion of the game in our forums.
Echo Base Escape: When the transports retreated, the Rebel ground forces and snowspeeder squadrons covered their escape by delaying the Imperials for as long as they could. As the Echo Base defenses collapsed, the ground assault of the base by the Imperial snowtroopers have penetrated the interior. The Millennium Falcon was the last ship to deploy barely escaping the Imperial assault.
Echo Base Despair: The two droids keep watch just outside the hangar entrance as R2D2 scans the darkened snow banks for any sign of the two stragglers. Princess Leia has been briefed by Major Bren Derlin about the closing of the shield doors to Echo Base for the night. A stoic Leia complied, putting the safety of the Alliance base over her personal concerns for her friends.
Juggernaut: One of the many unused and abandoned concepts from the original trilogy, the wheeled tanks were first sketched by Joe Johnston. The so-called "turbo tank" (also known as a Juggernaut) forms the armored backbone of a clone trooper force in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
