Happy NEW YEAR!
Happy New Year from me, George Collazo, and all the Troopers around Puerto Rico! May the New Year 2003 bring us all the most important thing we need: good health! With this available the rest will come with hard work. Let's not forget about the almighty, without faith in him there's nothing. Best wishes from the Puertorican garrison in our 100 x 35 miles island to the rest of the world!

Sandtrooper Rodapel reports:
"Made my rounds around the Southern California Inland Empire recently and was truly in need of a magnifying glass to examine the inventory in the Star Wars aisles (or should I say the small part of one section of a small part of the aisle containing Star Wars). Stores were literally dessimated of all things Star Wars. A guy would literally have had difficulty even locating any of the most basic pegwarmers with any success.

"Truly a sad sight indeed. The pain and agony was not just exclusive to one store, but hordes of stores regardless of chain (KB, Walmart, Kmart-what is new, Target, etc.). On a more inquisitive note I was wondering if any troopers could be of assistance in helping providing information or in helping me locate the new vinyl 10" Darth Vader Character Collectible. Why is this piece so hard to find? Are others seeing it in their travels? Thanks kindly, indeed, and as usual sandtroopers.com kicks gluteus maximus!"

Rodapel@aol.com

Rod, I have heard the vinyl Vader is only one per case at the current time. Scalps automatically buy it up if it's only one per case! The Slime! - Spice

Sandtrooper Jeffred5 reports:
"Hey Troopers, I have a post Christmas store report for the Detroit Metro, and Lansing, MI area. I been to a few TRUs and they all have plenty of Destroyer Droids and Clone Pilots and most of the figures that came out around the same time as the Padme and Jango Pilots. I have also found a few Ephant Mons, and "New" Yodas in TRUs and Targets and several Accessory Sets.

"My big find though was a Deluxe Clone Trooper w/Speeder Bike at the Target at Coolidge & Maple (15 Mile) in Birmingham, but I think it was just a fluke, because it was the only one and it had a few small pieces of Scotch tape on it, so I think it may have been a returned gift. But, I does look like MI is finally getting some of the good stuff after a 4 month dry spell. Good luck, and Happy Hunting.

"P.S. - I only have one Wal-Mart within 30 miles of me and they never have anything, so if anyone can pick up the Electronic Jango and Obi-Wan that Wal-Mart has on sale for $20 each I would really appreciate it, and if anyone can get an extra Holiday C-3PO & R2-D2 Set it would really help me out too."

Area report for Puerto Rico:
Not new actually but its first appearance in the island, Senator Palpatine has showed up in several Big K's in Puerto Rico. Action Fleets are almost everywhere but it is a big shame they aren't coming with figures. KB's 4-packs ($7.99 for four figures was a good deal) helped a lot of collectors fill in their gaps with Bespin Luke and Vader despite it being a merchant strategy. A lot of parents reported in stores that they were also satisfied with these packs. They helped them to aquire Yoda for their kids along with others for a very affordable price; For plastic lovers (like me) Austin Powers Goldmember figures are out but this time Mc Farlane didn't have the license and the new wave for Austin fans leave a lot to be desired. What happened to MF this time? That's all for now troops!

Sandtroopette Donna reports:
"Hi Troops, Donna from So. Cal. here. Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Didn't do much hunting this past week to avoid all the Christmas shoppers. The few times I did venture out, I saw a few items. Target still has their exclusive Action Fleet Sets and Accessory Sets. TRU has Destroyer Droids, Clone Pilots, and some of the new Lego sets. K-mart has nothing new. Wal-mart only had some of the new Lego sets. I have yet to see the Holiday set or Trash Compactor sets at Wal-mart.

"I would like to THANK Patrick from Toronto for making my first trade with a Canadian trooper a pleasant one. Happy Hunting and Happy New Year to all."

    Best Post-Christmas Deals on Gunships
    Sandtrooper Tim in Memphis reports:
FYI: "Walmart.com has the Republic Gunship for $22.00, but even better is KBkids.com has it for $19.99. Walmart also has the electronic Jango Fett and Obi-Wan figures for $20 and the Arena Playset for $30 which isn't much of a sale. And they have the Slave 1 for $17."

"Happy Holidays Troops, Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I know I did:) There is one figure out there that I now need to get. It is the elusive Deluxe Clone Trooper W/Speeder Bike. I need to get it because there is this big open space in my New Republic Gunship, He He He (What a nice piece of work) that needs to be filled. So any Trooper out there that has these in quantity in their area I would sure appreciate it if you could pick me up one or two. Hope you all have a safe and Prosperous new year, I know we will all need the prosperous part with all the new cool stuff coming out next year. He He He He!!!!"
    TWoods@associatedbond.com

Good luck, Tim. I'm sure a fellow Trooper will hear the call. It's ironic that our earlier installment of "Beyond Belief" is becoming true, with more and more Troops still not finding this figure. Sometimes truth is indeed stranger than fiction. Another Vintage Line Goes Retro-Modern:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back, with the new figures just starting to show up in stores like Wal-Mart. The new line has been highly anticipated and captures the characters from their mid-eighties comic representations while keeping the cool playability of the now "Vintage" TMNT figures that came out in 1988. Much like Star Wars figures today, TMNT now has a new modern line that will make fans want both new and old Turtle favorites for their collections.

"I finally found the Speeder bike and clone trooper at Target this morning. Here is what happened with the clone trooper. I went to my local TRU which opens at 8:00am for the holliday season. I saw a good amount of the new Yoda and the Destroyer droid. So, I decided to check out Target and amazingly enough after months of not find the deluxe Trooper there it was. It looks like they put out one case. So, there you have it. I found vintage ROTJ Luke Bespin on ebay. It was just an accidental find, talk about perfect timing. I also got the figures that I won here on 12/10. They came in great shape. Thanks a lot.I think you heard about the financial trouble the FAO is going though. I hope the shuttle still will come out. The KB Express at the Greenwood Mall in Indy had some of the 4 pack figs on sale for $7.99. I didn't pick any up because the packaging isn't anything really special, but they did have quite a few left. Also, the Indy TRU on US 31 had no new figs but had some legos that I hadn't seen before. Hey Troops, I stopped by the mall here in Lafayette, IN for some last minute shopping and what did I find? The newest two figures at KB. Yoda Jedi High Council and Destroyer Droid Geonosis Battle were both in stock. They had plenty of each, so if you get there early enough tomorrow morning, they should still have them. Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction - Episode 1.12 "The Impossible Fork"
    (or, "Seasons' Beatings"):

Is truth really stranger than fiction? And are you certain that you can actually discern between the two? General J is your host as you step forward into a world of happenings so bizarre they couldn't possibly be real ... could they?

"Within this hour we will tell you five stories, some real, some fake, you decide. Your call."

    This is the Impossible Fork:

The impossible fork has three prongs but not enough contour lines to account for all of them, to gaze upon it is to go mad. Has hasbro given us a fork of their own? That's what this next story is about...

Trooper David is caught in the trappings of another Hasbro paradox:

"Has anyone else noticed that "Holiday" is spelled wrong on the R2-D2 and C-3P0 two-pack? or did I just get the Hasbro guy who couldn't spell?"

    Which illusion is more confusing?

So, which messed up your mind more? - The three-tined fork or the Holiday Edition frontispiece? Which one is an illusion, and which one is fact? Is this story on the level or did we just get the Hasbro guy who couldn't spell?

Click here for the answer to tonight's episode. So, how did you do? If you got this one corect then you saw right through Hasbro's illusion. For Beyond Belief, I'm General J.

    Sandtrooper Thundercracker reports:
"Hi Troops, first-time Trooper Thundercracker here reporting from Whitehall/Bethlehem PA. Whitehall TRU had two new yodas, and at least twelve each of Clone Trooper Pilot and new projectile-firing Destroyer droids. The older stock too was there: 12-inch Luke and Tauntaun, Wave 2 Unleashed (Vader, Padme and Anakin), and interactive R2.

"They also had the newest MOTU (I saw a shopping mother pick up the last Teela, it is refreshing to think that a kid may be getting something he or she has been wanting instead of the local scalp crew), and Simpsons assortments. And that is how I found out about this site, General Jayson was there picking up a Simpson New Years Eve set and told me to stop by. MTFBWY!"

    xzd5bp@prodigy.net

Trooper Thundercracker is a great fellow and it is cool to see fellow collectors out there in person. A note about TRU - the Whitehall store's service can't be beat - they held an item for me before they all vanished today.

    Sanstrooper Dom reports:
"Hi Troops, Long time, no post, but that's because I haven't had anything to post until now. I just want to report in on the Mace Windu Electronic Light Saber I ordered from Amazon.com. First of all: a purple bladed saber - what could possibly be cooler than that? Well, it would have been cooler if it had the golden touches that, in my opinion, is the Mace-man's signature (at least when the blade is in the off position). If you're an opener like me, you'll appreciate the feel of this laser sword. It really is well-balanced. All in all a good blade, but I wish it had the gold trim."

I just returned from TRU near Lakeline Mall where I scored the new Mace Windu Lightsaber, along with an extra Clean Rebel Soldier. The Targets throughout the area seem to be getting slammed with accessory sets, but I have yet to find the holiday set at retail.

"I am looking to trade tons of extras that are just piling up in my house. Here are a few that I have up for trade: 12" Zuckuss, 12" Yellow trooper, Clean rebel soldier, Silver R2, Newest He-man Waves and tons more. Check out my post at the Jawa/Sandtrooper trade forums

    Sandtrooper Larry reports:
"Hello troops! Sorry its been so long, but work and school have consumed most of my time. Quick note, thanks to General J, for an awesome transaction earlier this month. J, you da man. Alright, now for the report. Mentor, OH area Wal-mart has newer pilot peg warmers. No Ephants, or Clone pilots. Newer 12" Bounty Hunter wave was there. The holiday 2 pack has come and gone, along with the cinema scenes. KB has the four packs, and the pilot wave. No Ephants or Clone Pilots. K-mart is disgraceful for Star Wars toys as usual. They restocked all the original peg warmers, with nothing past the Dexter wave. Although a $2.99 sale through the first is good for the army builders. Strongsville Wal-mart is pretty much the same as Mentor. Although nothing past the Vader wave. That's it for this post. May you all have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year."

Thanks for the kind words Larry.

    Sandcrawler Cancellation:
Hey Troops, I saw the report from TPU concerning the cancellation of the Sandcrawler. I wrote a contact of mine at Hasbro and asked whether was it indeed canceled. Her reply was: "The only 2003 products we've unveiled are currently up on our website. We haven't confirmed or denied any additional products." So there you have it. If it is not in the Cargo Bay, then it was never scheduled for release. This also does not mean they are not going to produce it. I am sure they will. I guess they are too busy getting all of the Eeth Koth and Teebo's ready to ship out. It was a shame to see of the seven new figures featured at Galactic Hunter, only one was truly new, from a deleted scene to top it all off. What a way to bring in the New Year! I am sure we will enjoy the new releases in the Sandwatch Reviews! Be on the lookout for upcoming installments: Ephant Mon, Endor Beardless, Destroyer Droid, Yoda (High Council) and the Black Market Clones.

Darth Crypt making his inspection of the shopping sitcheeation, found that there were tons of Clonetrooper Pilots, Destroyer Droids, Lott Dods and Jango Kamino Escapes at the Waldorf MD TRU. They had one frikked up Yoda w/ Jedi Council chair. A few 12-inch Luke and Tauntaun.

The Target in Bowie today had Geonosian Warrior w/pod sets, and plenty of Clone Troopers W/ Speederbikes. They had the Geonosian Arena battle playset and Interactive R2's.

Babyluv reports a TON of the holiday 4 pack of figures at the St. Charles Town Center KB in Waldorf MD. The price? 4 figures for $7.99!!! The best deal going this holiday season.

    FAO to file for Bankruptcy?
Check out this article Troops. I hope that Hasbro isn't one of the two suppliers mentioned. And if so, I hope they have shipped those shuttles out to them already!

There shouldn't be any need to worry Tyler. Although FAO is having financial problems and a bankruptcy filing is a strong possibility, such actions would take months, thus putting any potential Shuttle roadblocks far off in the future beyond next month's release date - Jason.

"Hiya Troopers, I stopped by the local KB today to see if there was anything new about and came across the the 4 packs I have been hearing about. The $19.99 price hade been lined out, and $9.99 written in. Thats like getting 4 figures for ten bucks, not a bad deal in my book. I too found one of the packs with the beardless Endor Rebel Trooper. Alot of them had Zams and white lever Hans in them. I think now would be a good time to check out a KB close to you and get the Christmas present you really want. Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction - Episode 1.11 "Hassles Made of Sand"

Is truth really stranger than fiction? And are you certain that you can actually discern between the two? General J is your host as you step forward into a world of happenings so bizarre they couldn't possibly be real ... could they?

"Within this hour we will tell you five stories, some real, some fake, you decide. Your call."

Lagging sales and a sputtering economy wore heavy on the minds of Hasbro Marketing's upper echelons. The normally bloated, top heavy department was in an uncharacteristic flurry of activity, with even the Executive Committee itself springing into action. A small cadre of product positioning specialists hovered around a cluster of desks, worked up into a frenzy by their orders to scale back the highly lucrative Star Wars line.

Gary was a relatively new hire within the deptartment, and, although he was still trying to get used to the Hasbro paradigm and clicking into the day-to-day routine, he was learning fast, absorbing all the new procedures and impressing his superiors with a savvy for making the right decisions and doing what made sense in a hectic industry controlled by fickle consumers. He had been noticed. The Executive Committee was already familiar with some of his accomplishments, and they were expecting great things from him.

That's how he happened to get his new top-priority assignment. The same top brass that had been rallied into action over the latest crisis saw it appropriate to pass the buck to Gary. After all, he was one of their best and brightest; he could certainly handle the paramount yet simple task of eliminating one high price point product from the Star Wars 2003 portfolio. And if he made the wrong choice, at least they had someone to blame.

Crunching prototype budgets, looking at past sales records, and examining potential supplier costs did nothing to help Gary arrive at a decision he could feel comfortable with, he had been at it for hours. He felt as if this was becoming a humungous hassle. Pushed past the point of exhaustion, teetering on the brink of apathy and resignation, he grabbed his spreadsheet of 2003 products, closed his eyes, and thrust his pen down blindly, the pen mark had been made within the row of data for the Jawa Sandcrawler playset ...

So, what is the fate of the Sandcrawler? Did a Hasbro employee leave this decision to chance, or are we just kicking sand in your face?

Click here for the answer to tonight's episode. So, how did you do? If you got this one corect then your mind is a marketable commodity. For Beyond Belief, I'm General J.

    Area Report:
Hey Troops, Spiceowan here with an Area Report for N. Illinois & S. Wisconsin. It was the jackpot if you went to either Gurnee, Il or Racine, WI TRU today. They had many of the new Destroyer Droid and Yoda High Jedi Council. Along with the rest of the old stock it was a pleasant surprise to see such an abundance of new figrures in stock. Gurnee I hit in the afternoon when shopping was at peak hours. I got with Trooper Mat Tambor of the Racine, WI Techno Union and together we hung up all of the Destroyer Droids, Yoda, Clone Pilots and Beardless Endor Soldiers that were thrown into the good old drop bin. Way to go. There is a reason those clerks make the little wages they do.

I have also been searching for the Trash Compactor Cinema Scenes but that seems to be the only product eluding me. That's it for now Troopers, Kick A$% and take names. Merry Christmas!

    Sandtrooper Lee reports:
Hiya Troopers, We made our bimonthly commissary run today and found the new Topps widevision EPII cards at the exchange for $1.90 a pack, pretty good looking cards. Headed over to the Biloxi, MI TRU to find Jango pilots, Destroyer Droid, Yoda's w/council chair, and the Clone Trooper pilots in a vast amount. There were a few peg-warmers, but mostly the figs I listed. I was tempted to pick up all the new stuff, but Santa told me he'd kick my butt if I got anything else before Christmas! Hope everyone is finding the stuff they want. That's it for this transmission. Take care and be safe.

    Lafayette, IN area report:
Hey Troops, I was at Toys R Us and KB today. Toys R Us had the newest Unleashed figures, Mace and Dooku. I personally wasn't impressed with the likeness of either of these, but I thought I would let any area collectors know they were there. KB had the deluxe Yoda and C-3PO. I know that these have been hard to find in the past, but now they had a lot of them in-stock. KB also had the Playskool sets for anyone looking: Endor, X-Wing and Naboo Fighter.

It never hurts to sign a petition, so check out JediDaxters's latest! On the other hand, I think the bootleg Clones do their job WELL! And, you can read all about why in our upcoming SANDWATCH review of the five marching and five firing Clone bootlegs later this week!

    Ephant Mon available:
Troops, I have one Ephant Mon. The card is in great shape, but the bubble is a bit wrinkled on one side. These are HARD TO GET in "minty mint" condition due to the size and heaviness of the figure. This one is probably best for an opener, but would still be ok for display. The cost is $7 (includes the tax I paid). Shipping will be determined depending on your location.

If I don't respond to your e-mail by tomorrow night, this one is gone!

"They are all about Star Wars Card Games and if anyone has any other good articles about Star Wars TCGs and CCGs I'd love to have a copy or if anyone know where I could find copies of Star Wars Game articles it would be a big help. Trooper Steve with an urgent message:
Hi Troops, I have written all of you to issue a warning I just recieved an e-mail from someone claiming to be from E-Bay's fraud department. It claimed someone has been misusing my account and being fraudulent. It asked me to verify my ebay account and provided a link.

"Now comes the scary part. I was asked to give my name, address, phone number and credit card number. It also asked for the 3 digit pin on the back of a credit card allowing unlimited access to my bank account. They also wanted bank account information and the name of my bank. This all came on a very "official" E-Bay looking page. Do not respond to this. First, the page was unsecured. Second, It clearly states in E-Bay policy that they never ask for any such information in a e-mail. All the information requested is all someone needs to steal your identity and destroy your credit. Be Warned!"

They are on clearence at the Wal-Marts here in Canada. Here's one question I have for them, why are they on clearence when they haven't been avaiable here before? Who knows and who cares? East PA news - K-B Toys:
Troops, Tuesday evening K-B toys in South Mall Allentown, PA received a Fedex drop shipment that included a single case of the new Council Chair Yoda and new Geonosis Destroyer droid assortment. Sandtrooper Jedi Master Eric reports:
"J, TRU in Niagara Falls, NY got 8 cases of the new destroyer droid/yoda wave today. There were no red battle droids though, so I wonder if they will be part of wave 10? They also got the MOTU Orko/Teela Wave. I scored the holiday 2 pack and an orange electronic lightsaber at the Wal-mart in Lockport tonight as well. They had a ton of the 12" bounty hunters also. Still no luck on the trash compactor 2 packs though. Happy Hunting Troopers!"

Eric, thanks for the report from my old stomping grounds, I'll leave the Western New York Dewback Patrol in your very capable hands! You already wear the Sandtrooper armor well.

    Distress Signal! Trooper needs Help:
Troops, I usually leave this section for a "Beyond Belief" article. This week I am bringing something to the table that will touch each and every one of you. With the Holiday Season upon us, it is time to look within ourselves to see what we can do. It is a Season of giving and receiving. I'd like you all to take a look at someone who really, really needs our help.Make sure you read the listing and click on all photos. This seller, whom I do not know, shows what this hobby is about for older collectors. Again I stress you to view all photos. It is a shame that he cannot contiue to add to a marvelous collection. The reason is one any of us would do. I was personally moved when I read this listing. I knew I had to turn to the best group of readers on the internet.

So please Troops, view this seller's other auctions and see if there is something in his collection you might want to add to yours. It isn't lining the pockets of a scalp and you are helping pay for a child's life. What could be more precious than that? We at Sandtroopers wish him the best and hope that all goes well for this family. Weird, I was looking at this vintage viewer, I found so much more. I realize some of you look forward to my "Beyond Belief" E-Bay articles. They will be back when Troops start sending them in. In the mean time Kick A$% and wait, No. Unite, Serve and God bless! This time only!

Force of the Bay Holiday Edition
Spiceowan bringing Troopers more holiday cheer, courtesy of the World's Online Marketplace. Save your money Troopers with some help from a nice little Ewok.Looks like it's from the cartoon series. Any collector could brighten up their colletion with this item. Impressive, and very unique. I have featured this before, not the same item but that's no moon! What is it? A truly rare find, especially for American collectors. I love looking in the props. I dug up this for someone going somewhere solo. Truly a stunner for the next convention you may attend. If that doesn't suit your taste, try one of these on. This is a perfect example how one can "clean up" on E-Bay. Hit that Reserve price, if in your range you could score a really cool collection. In the process never be strapped in October again! That's all for now Troops, Kick A$% and take names!

If you find something truly "rare" or "unique" send it in to me spiceowan@sandtroopers.com

"Amazon.com and TRU advertised an F/X Anakin Lightsaber for $99.99 plus shipping. I ordered it back around Nov. 14th. It was to be delivered by Dec. 5th. Guess what? It is Dec 12th and still no ship out date. I e-mailed customer service on Dec. 6th and all I received was a reply saying they would get back to me in 2 business days. Again, no word. I wonder if anyone else had the same problem. Any help to make this better please let me know. I already sent them an e-mail telling them I was posting about this lousy customer service."

Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction - Episode 1.10: "Bad Ground"
Troops, I received this story from Canadian Trooper Chris in Edmonton who had read a report from Sandtrooper's own Tyler on finding Unleashed and Action Fleet items at Canada Wal-Marts. This next tale examines a bizarre sequence of events, almost unbelievable. Or, is truth stranger than fiction? Or, maybe this is an ingenious hoax, developed to fool you...

"Within this hour we will tell you five stories, some real, some fake, you decide. Your call."

"At first I was thinking that they were not going to be available here in Edmonton because we haven't had anything new in a long time (just like the 3.75" line of figures), so I didn't bother going and checking this out. Well I had to go to Wal-Mart this evening, it was very dark and the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer, but I had to pick up some diapers for my daughter, so I looked in the exact same spot for some of the newer 3.75" figures and to my surprise there was... darkness there and nothing more, except for the restock of the POTJ deluxe Maul and Bacta Luke next to the cantina scenes. So, I moved on. I went toward the end of the aisle and turned left and, what is there? Unleashed Anakin and Padme and the X-Wing and Imperial Fighter Action sets.

"So I went over and got my wife, showed them to her and she said that they were probably expensive. Well, I had seen what seemed like a misplaced price tag right above the shelving that said $6.92 each. So I thought that they were for the Bacta Luke and the deluxe Maul. I took an Unleashed Anakin over to a price checker, it made a strange buzzing sound that made my ears ring briefly, then the display flashed brilliantly and it said $6.92.

"At this point I really believed there was an error with the price checker so I scanned it again and the same thing happened, except this time the machine seemed to become very hot and the readout screen looked warped and almost melting. At this point I said 'sweet deal.' Out of curiosity I took an Action Fleet over there and it said the same thing, again the checker almost seeming as it would melt.

"So I plan to do a little more checking into this and if it does prove to be true, then it sucks to be Wal-Mart and stinkin' scalpers. I'm going to snag them and offer tham to any troopers out there who may want one. May we true collectors prevail and all others get bent. A very happy Chris for once, all thanks to that strange price scanner..."

    chris_melissa@shaw.ca

"Was the register haunted? Or did Trooper Chris find a real deal? But then how can you explain the strange behavior of the price scanner? Was it just a mechanical problem, perhaps faulty wiring, or did this story even happen at all?"

Click here for the answer to tonight's episode... So, how did you do? Were you fooled, or was this story truly 'Beyond Belief?' For Beyond Belief, I'm General J.

Send your Beyond Belief stories to beyondbelief@sandtroopers.com for consideration in future episodes.

"Jedi Dom here, I found a few extra Destroyer Droids today at my local KB in Hemet, Ca. There was also plenty of Dooku's, Yoda (older version) and many others. I am looking to trade for the new Yoda or Ephant Mon. Email me if interested. I also saw 12" yellow and red troopers, though I do not collect 12" figures. I can get them if anyone needs them. Sandtrooper JeffRed5 reports:
"Hey Troopers, In the Detroit area Suburbs, Ephant Mon and the "clean" Endor Rebel Trooper are starting to show up at TRUs. Several Targets are getting more Accessory Sets in again. I was wondering if anyone else has opened their Ephant Mon, and are having trouble getting him to stand on his own? The one I have has the hard rubber cape cut so long that it sticks out below his feet, so he keeps falling forward. MTFBWY."

    Jeffred5@aol.com

Jeff, I experienced a similar scenario with my Ephant. Try to manipulate the legs to compensate as much as you can. You'll also have to try different angle combinations of the hand/cane because Ephant really does need the cane as a third support member for standing him up, otherwise he cannot stand on his own. Use caution on the grip on his cane, you'll have to experiment until you develop a good solid grip - play around with it until you're happy - Jason

    Swamptroopers Report:
    Hello everyone!!
Boy do I love this time of year, I am a Christmas Junkie!! Here is the latest in Baton Rouge:
TRU: EPHANT MON, clean Rebel Trooper and more of the Tatooine Land Speeder/as of 12-09-02. Still no sign of the Clone Trooper Pilot though.
Wal-Marts: The new Holiday Edition C-3P0 and R2-D2 at Perkins and Denham Springs locations and also at the Denham location I found both of the new Cinema Scene Trash Compactor but at almost $17 each, I left them on the shelf. Other that that, nothing new other than the two new 12" Bounty Hunters and Imperial Officer, all of which I am very disappointed with.
KB Toys: Nothing new, I did see the Red and Yellow 12" Clone Troopers at the one inside the Mall Of Louisiana but that is it, in fact I cant remember the last time I found anything new at either location.
K-Mart: --- you get the picture.
That is about if for now, I almost bought my Ephant Mon at an online store but once again, patience has paid off. I would like to take this time to thank fellow troopers John (ozziehorse), Donna in SoCal and fellow Swamptrooper Brian in Monroe,La. for the recent hook ups. I have managed to get things I have been looking for for a long time from these three and I highly recommend trading/purchasing items from them, thanks guys (and girl), YOU ROCK!!

    Unleashed at Canadian Wal-marts:
Hey Canadian Troopers, Be sure to check your local Wal-marts for the Unleashed figures. They had been showing up in the Toronto area for over a month now but that was it. Today however I found them at my Wal-mart in North Bay, Ontario. They only had Maul and the Fetts but there have been reports of other stores getting the 2nd wave. They also had the new micro-fleet ships and a re-stock of the Bacta Tank Luke and Sith Training Maul. Everything was on clearance for $6.83 CAN ($5 US). No new 4" figures though :( Take care troops.

"I would like to add my frustrations to those of Chris from Alberta. Over here on the west in Vancouver I have not seen a single new fig. other than Endor soldier and Orn Free Taa since the first shipment to stores in May. We did get Darth, etc about 5 months ago but that only lasted a day or so. The only thing new in stores here is the Gunship, no Yoda's, remote R2's, accessory sets or deluxe figs.

"Vancouver is literally across the border from the U.S., as are most Canadian cities, so I don't understand why Hasbro has such a difficult time sending us the same items as our neighbors down south. From what I read here on Sandtroopers even the U.K. does better than we do, (though they may pay a little more). And it's not like this is happenning only with the Saga figs. In all the various runs of figs. since 1995 I truly only saw a fraction of them actually on the shelves of the major stores.

"Half the fun of collecting is going into the stores with that sense of anticipation and finding the stuff on the shelves for yourself. Now I can't even be bothered knowing there will be nothing new there. Luckily I have friends amongst you troops to help me out. That said, I too would like to thank Hasbro for making a great and fun hobby less than exhilerating."

    Beyond Belief: Episode 1.09
"Within this hour we will tell you five stories, some real, some fake, you decide. Your call."

Troops, I received a distress signal from Trooper Mowskwoz saying he recalled a previous Power Sucka involving Leia Sail Barge, only she didn't have any clothes on. He dug up 3 more by a different seller. So yeah there is more than one Star Wars Sex Offender out there Troops. I really ripped the Seller and I think this guy deserves it too, only I can't put the item with a direct link. I have morals, but to see what I am talking about go to E-Bay and search Item #1923874949. You may want pick this up right before you go drive around the schoolyard and ask little girls if they like candy. You may find it plain disgusting as Mowskwoz and myself did. This has nothing to do with collecting and it is just plain sick. Instead of making play boobies, you may want to try going out and finding some real ones, what a sicko Troops! To E-Bay with extreme caution! The fight continues, Troops! Kick A$% and take names.

"Did he ever have a girl? Or are we cooking your goose?"

Trooper Mowskwoz, I'd say thanks for the listing but no thanks ya know what I mean? Troops turn slime like this into me spiceowan@sandtroopers.com to exploit the scum sucking dirt bags making this hobby "not fun".

I picked up some pilots and a gunship at Wal-mart and they price matched the Target ad. I am still looking for Ephant on, new Yoda and Destroyer droids. Thanks."

    Sandtrooper Chris reports:
"Well Troops its been awhile since I posted partly because my internet has been down but also because there is nothing new here in the Edmonton Alberta area (Canada). The only new thing that I have seen here lately is the Ask Yodas. Nothing else. We have the accessory sets, the gunships, the arena play sets, you name it we more than likely got it. What we dont have is any more of the newer 3.75" figures from Han, Chewie, etc. Hasbro has obviously stopped sending these figures to us and has deceided to give us all the Orn Fre Ta, Endor Soldier, Chewies and most of the first releases from May (Kit Fisto, Battle Droid and so on). Thank you Hasbro for once again punishing your Canadian customers out of completing their collections."
Sincerly, a very P.O.d at Hasbro, Chris

Force of the Bay Holiday Edition
Seasons Greeting Troops. On many of my travels to E-Bay, it seems I always get taken back to memories of Christmas past. I find things like this and it's Christmas in 83' all over again. The seller also had a Vintage Falcon in Star Wars package. Hit view other items for him and check that out. I also remember finding this under the tree. Only mine had figures! Here is a little something for a die-hard vintage collector "wish" list. Here is a ghost from Christmas past. Seems we should have gotten these in stores a couple years back. We never did. Bah Humbug! There was a find in this trip, and this is the first time I have ever strayed from Star Wars, but did I find Han Solo's Clone?!? I don't think that is straying too far from Star Wars! Happy Holidays Troops, but as always, Kick A$% and take names!

Troops, on your travels to E-Bay this month if you see something that takes you back, send it to me spiceowan@sandtroopers.com and I'll try to share the memories with the rest of the Troops.

    Area Report
Spiceowan here. I showed up the cold weather and hit some stores this weekend. I didn't find any of the newer figures. Lott Dod and co. are the new pegwarmers. I was really starting to miss Kit Fisto and Kamino Jango! I did find Clone Pilot and picked up a few for cost plus shipping. So if the local scalp is beating you to the punch drop me a line. I found Cantina sets and Target Accesory packs galore. No sign of Ephant Mon, Yoda,or Destroyer Droid. I did find the newer 12 inch wave in Kenosha,WI and Gurnee, Ill. Wal-Marts had the Holiday Packs but no Death Star Compator 2-packs. With X-mas nearing more and more trucks coming in. Stay sharp the next 10 days or so. I am glad they didn't hit us with a big wave before the holidays. Nice to see they are saving it for '03. That about wraps it up Troops, Kick A$% and take names!

    Dark Horse Comics
Hey Troops, I stopped in to get my new comics yesterday and found out that the three new issues slotted for release didn't hit the shelves. Empire # 4, Republic # 47 and Tales # 14 were all supposed to be out, but as is common with Dark Horse, they have all been delayed. According to Dark Horse's web site, Republic # 47 and Tales # 14 will be released this upcoming week and Empire # 4 will be released on January 2. Empire # 5 is also slated for a January 2 release, so I imagine that one will get delayed as well. I wouldn't think Dark Horse would put out consecutive issues on the same day. Anyway, I hope this information helps any troops out who went looking for their new comics this past week and couldn't find them.

"This might be a stupid question but you never know. I was wondering if the people who have found the Holiday Droids at Wal-Mart have found these in the toy section where other Star Wars merchandise is located or in the Christmas section? I am asking because I obviously can't find them and I am afraid to ask the "help" at Wal-Mart. Sometimes I feel the Dark Side when these people answer a question! Sandtrooper Darth Skellington with some more toothpaste news:
"Just a note regarding toothpaste as a toy cleaner. First off, that is a very good idea. I used a product called Bartender's Friend (or something like that) to clean up my old Imperial Shuttle. It is a powder that similar to kitchen cleanser, and is designed to be soft so as not to scratch chrome or other items (you might find in a kitchen or bar). You wet it and it essentially becomes a paste, which removes dirt and those odd red, blue, yellow, etc. colored marks you get on plastic toys. It cleaned up my shuttle like it was fresh out of the box, cleaning off nearly all the marks.

"Caution: If you do not properly wet it, it could be abrasive enough to leave some mark. Test it first before diving into a project. You should be able to get Bartender's Friend at most stores.

"About the toothpaste, it makes sense since it is a cleaning paste that would be soft enough to not harm clear window plastic. I'll have to give it a try sometime.
    :-)"

I received a distress signal from a good Trooper. Trooper Fitz advised me of this "Beyond Belief" offender. Now really Troops, is it indeed a rarity? I don't think so. Being a self-proclaimed E-Bay guru, I can honestly say I see this figure go for much less than ten dollars on more than several occasions. It must be the holidays bringing out the Shyster in some people. Also for an extra giggle make sure to check out that item location. Ah, well that is the land of "fruits and nuts" for ya!

"Hello troops, I have some good news to report from Huntsville Alabama. Our Wal-Marts have gotten the new 12" Zuckuss, Imperial Officer and Dengar. I must say the Zucckuss is the cool of the 3. I recently saw the Holiday Droids set at Wal-Mart as well. That's about it.

"Now, the bad news.I know I have sent some pretty nasty stuff to you guys about the Clone Trooper with the Speeder Bike. Is he still being made? I do thank hitchbuddy for getting me one but I do know a lot of people around here besides myself who can't find him. So,therefore I am throwing in the towel in finding it here.

"I have come to the decision that either our stores around here have never received them, employees are making off with them, or Hasbro has singled us out with it. What ever the case, the scalper has won. Good going Hasbro."

    cryan@ardmore.net

Chad, deluxe assortments that include the Clone Trooper will eventually make it to your store shelves in the Huntsville area. I won't go "Captain Obvious" on you like some of the other sites did, I understand your frustration.

To help, I want to ask other troopers to get in the trenches and send in ANY sightings of this figure, especially in your area. I know that sightings have not become commonspot as of yet, so keep the faith Chad.

"Hiya troops. I have discovered a way to take out the minor flaws and scuffing on the bubbles and plastic windows on the figures and vehicle boxes. Use toothpaste and a cotton ball and gently buff out the imperfection, when you're done buffing just wipe away the paste with a damp cloth. This also works for the clear plastic canopies on the ships and vehicles. Brings a whole new meaning to "minty mint," sorry, couldn't resist. Thats it for this transmission. Take care and be safe."

"I have two Playskool Adventure sets that I would like to get rid of: Arena Adventure and Stompin Wampa. The bubble on the Stompin Wampa is a little scratched from packaging but the card is in good condition. Anyone intrested I will let them go for $8.00 a piece plus shipping.
Take Care Troops and Happy Holidays."

    Sandtrooper XbrandonX reports:
"Hey, long time, no report. Richmond, Virginia, has gotten some good stuff in. I found the Wal-Mart set at the Short Pump Wal Mart, Ephant Mon was at the Regency Toys R Us. Every Target in the area has a healthy supply of the newest deluxe waves too. And everyone has plenty of Arenas, Gunships, and the newest lightsabers. On a side note, Ephant Mon (which I picked up on lunch, so I won't be accomplishing alot this afternoon at work, because I think I'd rather just stare at this figure) is, by far, one of the nicest figures I have ever laid my eyes on."

Dateline: St. Louis, MO. "Hello everyone, First time trooper. I've noticed people finding the 12" Ki-Adi for $4.99, if anybody could find me one I would be greatly appreciative, and would gladly pay the cost plus shipping and handling. I was also wondering if anybody knew of a site where there were pictures and information about the less recognizable Jedi? Thank you."

Sandtrooper Dave from the UK reports:
"Hi troopers, great site, Plenty of Ephant Mon in our Toys R Us in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, at 5.99. That's about US $9, yup thats the price we have to pay across the big blue water, unfortuantely too heavy to ship across to you. We have also the Republic Gunship at a whopping 39.99 about $60. For us in the UK to get the "FREE" Silver R2-D2 we need to spend 30 (about $45). Keep up the good brilliant site work."

Dave, thanks for the kind words. We enjoyed hearing from you on the UK happenings, please keep us up-to-date on everything Star Wars in the UK!

    Sandtrooper Sean - Amazon.com question:
"Hey troops, does anybody have any light on the 12 inch Leia Boushh thats on Amazon? There's one for $39.99 and one for $19.99, are there two different ones or have they made a mistake."
    verestiuk@golden.net

Here is the link, search in "Toys & Games," with keyword "Leia." Sean, the first item for $39.99 is the new Leia with Carbonite block, and the second listing priced at $19.99 (sale price) is perhaps what the commercial agreement initially projected (a figure at a lower price point.) Tentatively, the confusion comes from what looks like an error by Amazon, inputting the item early and not removing it when the final details were arranged.

    Sandtroopette Donna reports:
"Hi Troops, Donna from So. Cal., Orange County. Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving. TRU, Wal-mart, and K-mart have nothing new. KB has all the Playskool sets again including the Arena Adventure. Target is still getting the Accessory Sets but I also finally found the Deluxe Clonetrooper there. Lastly, I went by a Gamekeeper and can confirm that they are having the same sale as WOTC. No sign yet of Ephant Mon or the X-mas C3P0/R2. Happy Hunting to all!"

Force of the Bay Weekend Edition :
Spiceowan here Troops with a weekend edition of Force of the Bay. This week I found some old school treasures. I remember wolly-mopping my brother in my backyard with this bad boy. I usually stay away from featuring the same seller but this guy really impressed me with stuff like this. If I am not mistaken, this vintage piece was still elusive to collectors, even over a decade later! It may be hard to explain to a loved one you spent $500 on this outfit but this man from down under has it done right. If you really wanted to steal the show, try this on for size. I have to admit being a little biased on that one. Kind of a gimme, but what a nice shoulder pad.

Now for a little "Beyond Belief" humor. If you thought the buster Star Tours Figures were a little lame, peep this, satin too! How ridiculous, that is about as bad as one of those old Atari jackets. I will spare you guys another look at Mr. Frakes, but you have to admit that is "Beyond Belief!" Good luck out there Troops, Kick A$% and wear satin, I mean ahem, take names !!
