Sandtrooper TPU Pete with a “Private Eye” report:
Dream Invader AnakinDateline: Episode III Anakin Photos   “It isn't often, if at all, that TPU gets spoiler images, but hey we got some now! I have posted images of some E3 Anakin pics I have been sent. I was sent two images of Anakin (Image 1, Image 2), by Anonymous TPU'er No. 1138, as he will probably be seen near the end of Episode III, and he has certainly lost the looks that Padme fell for! For the spoiler avoiders, I won't show these images on the front page, you will have to take the links for them. Don't delay take a look today... before the Lucasfilm lawyers make me take them down.”

Sandtrooper Tampa Bay James reports:
“Trooper James from Tampa. Went by the Wal-Mart on Waters in Tampa and they had lots of figures on clearance. I picked up a Nexu for $3 and Massiff for $2. They have lots more and Endor Troopers, Young Boba, and lots of Jedi from that early wave. They also had some old 12-inch for $8. I also stopped by Target on Waters and they had a couple sets of the Animated Wave 2 minus Yoda. That's all I had time for today. Good luck on the search troops and MTFBWY.”

Sandtrooper Leif reports:
VA BeachDateline: “Dog Will Hunt” - Primus  “Leif in Va Beach here. Well, the X-Wing Luke, Clonetrooper, and Chewbacca Unleashed wave has been seen at local Wal-Marts (Green Brier & Lyhnnhaven), I swear Wal-Marts are the blackholes sucking the life out of trailerparks everywhere. Anyway, I also found a single case of the Holo Luke, J'Quille, Rappertunie, and Lando Skiff wave at Norfolk Toys R Us. I took a set and left the other complete set and extras hanging. I have to say, Holo Luke has to be the ugliest of painted figures ever. Sure he is just a rehash of Return of the Jedi Luke without the cloak, but maybe they should of left him regular Holo Blue. Even my three-and-a-half year old son commented: ' Daddie, why Luke look all nasty?' .”

Survivor's Quest
Survivor’s QuestWell Troops, I have no doubt in my mind why I think Timothy Zahn is hands down the best thing to happen to the Star Wars EU. I loved his original Thrawn Trilogy, the Duology was just about as good. Now Survivor's Quest is blowing me away. I can't wait for the original story to come out. I have to admit I was skeptical when I heard there was going to be a new book out that takes place between the Duology and NJO, even when I heard it was Zahn. I thought this era had been done to death and if this happened before NJO, how come we never heard anything about these events in the NJO. While my latter concern is still legitimate, my former concern was shattered. These characters have not be run to death. So far this story is great! I have another 100 pages to go. I'll be on a plane all day Saturday. When I get back, I'll be ready to post my review! If you haven't bought Survivor's Quest yet, go out and do it!

Power of the Bay - Shady Soldiers:
I’ve created a monsterEbay has created a monster, an army of Shady Soldiers. Well if you want Shady, then this is what I'll give you! If you are like Billy Joel, living here in Allentown, here's another winner! "Recalled" since when? With a username like finderskeepers, I will be sure to install some additional top-notch security systems to "keep" this fool away from my collection. If that one offended you, and you want to wash that East Coast Flavor out of your mouth, head up to the Big Apple where these idiots should be skewered like an apple and slow roasted on a grill, and another one "recalled." When you thought the craziness would end, Voila! Here's another that'll give you some tongue. We don't know why people feel they can tag an outrageous price on anything Star Wars. Creepier than any Stephen King novel, if there ever was a douchebag to be spotlighteed, here he is! More appropriate then naming the seller's store "Needful Things" would have been "Ankle Grabbers Comics." Check out that lovely starting bid. Man, oh man!!! We have Trooper 50 Cent in NYC, maybe he'll have to check this place out! Attention Please: No one is obligated to give stuff away, and many clandestine sellers out there are ready to take your hard-earned money, so research your perspective sellers on ebay before going in like a kid in a candy store. Special Thanks to Trooper J-Loud for material submissions and for turning Suckahs in!

Dateline: Have a Nice Day “Hey all, YQ-1, aka Jim, Padawan to Trooper Bruce here again. You know how it is, countless Targets and Wal-Marts (my daughter Abbey has enough Wal-Mart happy face stickers to create an entire wardrobe), and nothing. Then, finally, jackpot. Walked into a Target and headed toward the toy aisle and there they were: the new Snowtrooper, Hoth Rescue Han Solo, Throne Room Duel Luke and Pit of Carkoon Boba Fett. R1-G4 still remains elusive. Is it just me or does the new Rebel Hoth Trooper bite? Still on the hunt for R1-G4 and a Stormtrooper Army builder set. Thanks for all the welcome e-mails too! Still hunting in Minnesota (anyone interested in some collectible Wal-Mart happy face stickers?).” - YQ-1 aka Jim

Area report for Lafayette, IN
Hey Troops, I hit Target today. A new wave 2 case of Animated figures must have just hit the shelves. They were all there: Yoda, Durge, Count Dooku and Clonetrooper. Pretty impressive looking bunch, if you ask me. They also had brown coat Han who was packed with Throne Room Vader and Luke as well as the Imperial Snowtrooper. Pretty cool stuff.

Sandtrooper Dennis Reports:
“I went on a toy run today. It seems to be more of the same and not much new in the area. Here's my report:

Target (Waukegan, IL): “had only reissued 2003 figures and the second wave of Animated Clone Wars figs but no Yoda.

Target (Gurnee, IL): “had only a Bail Organa, an R-3PO, and a Boba Fett (Pit of Carkoon). They also have the second wave of animated Clone Wars figs including Yoda.

Wal-Mat (Gurnee, IL): “had empty pegs. 3 pegs for basic figs and 3 pegs for Ultra figs. You have got to be kidding.”

Sandtroopette PR Princess Lisette reports:
New YorkDateline: Where Did These Come From? “Hi Troopers, Lisette from NYC reporting. I visited the TRU in Times Square and again was disappointed. The pegs may have had figures hanging from them, but nothing of interest. There was plenty of Yoda and Chian Padawan, Ashla and Jempa, and others from this wave, plus 2 brown coat Hoth Han Solo. They also had plenty of the green carded Bo Shek, Eeth Koth, Teebo, and R4-M9 - where did these come from? Is anyone else being revisited by these guys? They also had the 12-inch Obi-Wan, Jawas and Garindan if anyone in NYC is looking for these guys. That's all for now.”

Sandtrooper SoCal Dude reports:
Current Alhambra Temperature: 47 deg FDateline: The Things You Find in Unexpected Places “Greetings this time from a cold and rainy SoCal! Well, had to stop by a Sav-On Drugs store last night to pick up some cold medicine for the wife and had to drop in on the toy aisle and what did I see you ask? Well had to pick up the R1-G4 and a Jabba Palace Luke. Only 1 of the droids and about 4-5 of the Lukes were on the pegs along with 1 Hoth Trooper. The things you find in unexpected places! I had all but given up on SW figs in these drug stores, but my faith has been renewed. That's it for today and remember to keep dry and fight the good fight fellow Troopers!!! Peace, out!!”

Sandtrooper SoCal Jedi Dom Reports:
Dom, of Dom and Dommer“ Went on a toy run in soggy So Cal, only to come up all wet behind the ears, and a little PO'd . I just have a few comments and concerns. First, what is the problem at Target? When will they get in anything new? Granted, they did get Animated wave 2 sets in last month, but I have not seen a new Saga figure since 2 weeks before Christmas. Their shelves are always empty, seemingly to the point where the toy dept manager has neglected to take into consideration that their shelves are empty. One would think that based on these simple, elementary observations, that maybe these shelves are empty because these are one of very few collectibles in the entire department that sell.

“So what is the problem? Are they preparing for a once in 5 year inventory, and they are withholding all the merchandise? Are they just that delayed in getting their shipments? Are they planning to disband the section altogether? Or do I have 3 Target stores in my area that have hired incompetent, non-attentive managers to run these departments? Well, based on the reports of items that many people have found around the country, the only one that appears to hold water was the last question asked.

“As it has turned out, we here in the wet, gloomy, $2.20 a gallon-for-gas payin' Inland Empire are sentenced to an undisclosed period of empty shelves and empty-handedness. We have not seen the deluxe Jabba wave, the Yavin wave, or the Jabba's Palace wave. I know it may be a bit premature, since these have just been released in the past 3 or 4 weeks, but hey, we have barely even seen the Tatooine wave in full numbers. As a matter of fact, it was a fellow trooper who helped me with that wave.

“Midwest: I ask your help for these waves. East coast: I ask your help for these waves. Hell, any west-coasters, can you throw me a bone!? I am willing to pay additional for your troubles. As a matter of fact, if anyone has all 9 new figs, plus the 2 deluxe figures, all C-9+ or better, I will pay your cost, plus $20 to ship, keep the change as a thank you.”

Wal-Mart: “Found a severely picked over asst. of Jabba wave, found 1 Rappertunie and a couple R2 Drink2. I just know some 300 lb Cheeto snarfing jerk waddled off with the J'Quille's to ebay. Hey buddy, here's to hoping your family DOSEN'T know CPR.

TRU: “A fresh case of Yoda, Fett, Han Unleashed at the Blaine TRU, got my Yoda (on sale? rang up at $14.99). No new figures (they have a whole 3 peg hooks to fill!!! Is it so damn hard to keep 3 peg hooks filled?!? AHHHHHGGG! Sorry. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts ... mmmm kittens).

Target: “(sigh) Target makes me sad, I ask the woman in toys whether they have any new Star Wars figures, she points me to the SPIDERMAN FIGRES!! I said, "No. Star Wars figures." She points me to Lord of the Rings. This woman is so stupid, she should have choked on a Lincoln Log when she was 6, she's breathing air I could be breathing.

“At the end of my rainbow, I found an empty pot surrounded by leprechauns passed out in pools of whisky vomit. Good Luck all!”

Staying On Target, version 6.0
My freind and diorama partner Trooper Troy K. came across an outstanding deal on the Conquest of Cobra Mountain playset at, you guessed it, Target. They were $19.98 so he picked up two, and I was the lucky recipient of the extra. Thanks again Troy, and good job beating out the scalpers. So be on the lookout at your local Target if the Joes float your boat. Beat them scalpers, BEGIN TODAY!!

Force of the Bay: Can you dig it? SUCKA!!!
Hey Troops I hit up ebay to see what kind of great deals could drop in my lap. I found everyone didn’t break theirs, and other great ways to fix what I had lost or destroyed. There are so many different pieces of memorabilia available. There are ways to custom-create those holes that are simply too expensive to fill. You will find many at prices that are unbelievable; all you can hope is they slip by and you can snipe it at the last second. You often find something that breaks the mold of the average item. Whether it is one of the first figures or one of the last, you will find thousands, so don’t get upset if one gets out of your price range. Remember the words of Master Yoda because “there is another.” So remember no matter what it is, chances are it will be listed at some point in time if you just take the time to browse. Take a look at the sellers' other items as well, they may have more then one item you were looking for. Chances are you could find someone who thinks they have the Holy Grail by outrageous opening bids in hopes of an inexperienced collector thinking they are really scoring something great. It could be a minor packing flaw, not a hard to find variation. These are people known to S.C.A.L.P. Troopers as Suckas and they should be avoided at all cost. You really have to watch out Troops, there is just as much crap to step in as there are great buys. Sandtroopers.com neither endorses or authenticates the items featured here. Conduct thorough feedback checks on sellers you do business with.

Sandtrooper Kevin in Columbus reports:
“Quite a bit of Star Wars items showing up here. Store reports as follows:

“Found all but the Yoda Animated Clone Wars figures at both the Easton Target on Morse Rd and the Polaris Parkway Target in Lewis Center. Found the Deluxe Jabba the Hutt and Jabba Palace Court Denizens at the Lewis Center Wal-Mart, also the Unleashed Yoda, Han Solo, and Boba Fett (also at Morse Rd Wal-Mart).

“Found the Saga Luke - Jabba's Palace, R-3PO, R2-D2 with drink tray, R1-G4, Luke - Hoth Attack and the Hoth Trooper at Meijer at the Cleveland Ave and Lewis Center locations (side note: all were at the higher price of $5.99 except the Luke Jabba Palace; it rang up as $4.90). I did get the clerk to match the two other figures i bought that rang up as $5.99, doesn't hurt to ask.

“At Morse Rd Toys R Us, found the Unleashed Luke - X-Wing, Chewbacca, and Clone Trooper, and was able to pick up 3 free figures with their current promotion. Got Achk-Med Beq, Imperial Dignitary Kren Blista, and the black cloak version of the Saga Padme Tatooine.

“Does anyone know where I can get or find the Wal-Mart figure poster from a few years ago? I have some of the Toys R Us figure posters for trade and a few extra Burger King glasses. I'm working on a new trade list and will post it soon in the forums. Thanks.”

Dateline: Semper Fi “Hey Troopers, how are ya? Made my usual rounds in NW Indiana this week and came up empty handed. Started in Valpo Wally World and the pegs had one fig on them: Ellorrs Madak. They had like eight pegs to fill and that's all that was there. Targets were empty, and the Toys R US in Cal City put out a fresh case of the god awful Jango Pilot There must have been 25 of these guys (I don't have one, because it just looks stupid). Maybe new stuff is out in the mornings, but I don't get a chance to go out and hunt til after work (6:30pm). Well maybe next time I'll have some worth while info, other than that, I'll have another beer. Semper Fi.”

Sandtrooper Scott J. reports:
“Hello Troopers, still waiting for the Jabba and Yavin waves to hit here in South-East lower Michigan. Also, Wave 2 Animateds have been pretty few and far between. Did recently find those elusive Bonus 2-pks of CW though, and thought I would offer one set (3 2-pks) up for trade / sale if anyone still might need them? Looking for any of the newer single carded figures in Yavin or Jabba waves. Good luck!”

“Hey troops, Erich Fritz here again. I'm putting out another sale list. My wife and I have purchased two Belgian Colts and I need to liquidate as much of my collection as possible, so if there is anyone out there who needs, or knows someone who needs, any of my items to add to their collection please send me an e-mail. These are all carded and in C-9+ condition unless stated otherwise on the list. My e-mail address is: ejfritz@hotmail.com. I am selling all of these items at a loss, but we need the money and the space. Thanks for your time and good luck with the collecting.”
ejfritz@hotmail.com

Troops, take a look at Erich's list. He has a lot of pieces at a more than fair price. Erich, thank YOU for making your stuff available to the Sandtroopers!

Extensive Poll # 9 Results ( 15 October - 19 February 2003 ):
"Who needs Clone Trooper packs when we can get more Destroyer Droids Launchers than the Entire Separatist Army? ” - Quote from a Trooper on November 19, 2003.

That's what Trooper Chris Kelso said, here is what you said:

Which Clone pack was hardest to find?
Green 28%
Yellow 11%
Red 9%
White 3%
Blue 5%
Anything but white 6%
Found them all with no problem 8%
Both Green and Yellow
7%
Scalpers got them all 22%

The man who hung with canned tunaAs long as you weren't part of the twenty-two percent of readers who weren't fast enough to beat the scalpers to the punch, it looks like the flash-in-the-pan green pack version really was the hardest to find. Yellow too left both scalpers and collectors confused at the end of the production run. With the initial all-white pack, already in most Troops' collections, making a reappearance in a case assortment with Durge and Clone Trooper on speeder cases, it ended the day as the most readily available variation. Now that the Clone Wars multi-pack subline has wrapped up, let's hope Hasbro assembles a "Clone Trooper Army Builder" set using the Super Articulated Trooper as the mold and having Lieutenant, Commander and Sergeant colors. If they could keep a straight face giving us a four-pack of glazed-eyed Endor Troopers, then they should consider cashing in again on the evergreen Clone Trooper. Okay, now that you've built your amry, let's look at the coming onslaught of Original Trilogy Collection 3 ? inch product. Hasbro "goes Solo" yet again. Vote in Extensive Poll No. 10 at the top of the page.

Sandtrooper Brian Lustig reports:
Dateline: S.C.A.L.P. All Day ... Every Day.  “First off, let me shout out a big ' Welcome Back!! ' to Ham Yoyo aka Britt. It's been a long while! I believe the last time we traded was way back pre-Episode II. Great to see you around again. Hope all continues to go well with your rehab situation. The site has changed some, but I think it has changed for the better over the last year or so. As far as store reports, about the same here in Indy, land of perpetual overcast skies. Target has been the place to be until now. Now it seems that nowhere is the place to be! I agree with Trooper The Devil's Ewok, who a few days ago said 'Does TRU even carry toys anymore?' Not much to be found. Anyway, MTFBWY and S.C.A.L.P. all day ... every day!”

Sandtrooper Lin Que Droma with Mutual of Omaha's Aisle Kingdom:
Aisle KingdomDateline: Leaving Scalpers Confused  “Lin Que from Omaha with a overdue Omaha report. Things have been pretty good around my way. Thursday I saw the Yavin wave at Wal-Mart. My goal was to pick up two of each to offer up here but another guy came and I offered them up to him as he was a pretty ' kool ' guy. Friday I saw the Batman exclusives at Wal-Mart and picked up Killer Croc and Mr Freeze. Saturday on a scavenger hunt for the new Deluxe packs I came across Gandalf the Whiter at the same Wal-Mart I had grabbed the Yavin wave at 20 minutes later. At TRU I found Elrond, Gimli, and Arwen. The really odd thing was they were sitting right out front so the fact they were still there had my head spinning all day. I then ran into a restock of Marvel Legends V and grabbed a long sought after Blade. When I went back the next day the were ALL gone so they're moving VERY quickly (note to self: check ebay). Yesterday I saw the new Energon wave (I grabbed Rodimus) and Masterpiece OP. That's a nice hunk of metal and plastic but a little heavy for my budget. All in all, a good score over the past week. I'm still looking to hook a couple of people up and I will keep them posted. Stay up troops, things seem to be picking up!! Leaving scalpers confused like someone trying to gangbang wearing a blue shirt and red pants.”

Sandtrooper Ham Yoyo reports:
Dateline: An Old Friend Returns  “Hey All, Sandtrooper Vet here, Ham Yoyo. Been a long time, but the site still rules. Crypt is the 'last' of the original crew I remember. Anyway, great to be back. I was out of duty for a while because of major back operations, but it feels good to be back. I have been hitting the stores, not so much for me but you guys. If you are looking, let me know and I'll see what I have In Myrtle Beach, SC. I'm also going to put a list up of a ton of pre-Saga stuff. I need the cash to pay for back rehab and such, and instead of ebay, I wanted you guys to get first grabs. I've traded a ton here and if there is an older fig or set you need, e-mail me at. I'll have the list up shortly. This is going to be a super cheap deal with most figs around $2.00. Anyone interested please let me know, and guys keep it up, I love the Supersuckas articles.” - Britt

All you Troops who have been here as long as I have will remember Britt as one of the most hardcore Troopers out there, a good trader and a great guy. We're glad you're recovering, and drop that list on us anytime! Then, if you Troops you can Britt out, take a look and see whether there are any items you'd like to buy.

Sandtrooper Jedi Hawk reports:
Jedi Hawk’s Pro Scalper 4Dateline: Hunt with Skill  “Central Texas report, well it's not much here. Over the past week or two there has not been much to speak of. My Wal-Marts are now doing OK by stocking something new about every week. They have had the Ultra Wave 2 and still have the 12-inch Garindan, Jawa, and Ben wave. Yesterday one put out the Boba, Han, and Yoda Unleashed wave. My local TRU is worthless. They have a lot of inventory but it's all old, unless you want repacks (Jedi 4 pack). The newest figs they have are CW wave 1. My local Target was the place to be before the new year. But since we rolled into 2004, they have not had much to speak of. They restocked last week with some 2003 Vadera and Luke Duel wave?? Weird since those were on clearance for $1.18, and now they are $4.99, but nothing more than that since the first weeks of January. Well that is all for this lame report. Hope some things improve. But the break is nice on my wallet. Also, Hasbro has some pretty cool stuff planned for the rest of 2004 if Toy Fair is any hint. Not real thrilled with the amount that was shown, but the ideas are good. Hope this new stuff is available to all. Hunt with Skill.”

Power of the Bay - General J's Shady Soldiers:
When you sell like Eminem you get plenty of scalper loveOkay Troops, get ready to do battle yet again with the Shady Soldiers who are the sworn enemies of S.C.A.L.P. and all Sandtroopers. Don't underestimate their power, for they train for combat against collectors many hours a day as most of them don't have a real job. Get ready, it's about to get heavy ...

Operation Code Name: Back Door Forced Entry. This first seller is the reason Troops like Jedimaster-C and Force Hunter are missing the seemingly "hard-to-find" Target exclusives. Scalpers like this guy are making it "exclusive" for these to even make it to the point of purchase for honest people to present their cash and make the transaction at arm's length. He points out in his description that these "ran out quickly." Wonder why?

3175615335: “NO RESERVE!! These babies came straight off the delivery truck at Target and never hit the salesfloor or even the stockroom!!! As you can tell from the photo, you are bidding on 1 case each of the following: 12-inch Luke with Speeder Bike, 12-inch Imperial Biker Scout with Speeder Bike. These were Target Exclusives and ran out quickly. There are (2) 12-inch figures in each case so there are (4) in total. All are MISB. The speeder bikes in the photo did not come out of the case, they are from my personal collection. These cases are still sealed!! These items retailed for $49.99 each. Use Buy-it-Now and Shipping is FREE!! A huge savings!! Good luck!!.”

What a downright decent guy to offer you free shipping! Upon request he may very well drive the Target truck to your home. Now, I know two wrongs don't make a right, but they sure make me feel a whole lot better! The night wouldn't be complete without that hard-to-find variant. And I have to admit, the last guy who tried to take your hard-earned money became so irate with us that he suggested we passionately pursue calling fouls on those that are in the loop of collectors instead of those like him who don't care about Star Wars or any of the memorabilia. We couldn't agree more Mr. Warner, and we found one that you would approve of - this next seller has got it all over on you, but guess what? You too will still be in the crosshairs of El Generale's heavily modified MG-34 rifle.

Operation Code Name: Silver Clone Trooper (Mark I). I think the bidder needs a little schooling on what is really worth $225.00!?! A clone with some accidental overspray on his rifle is not one of them.

3175181654: Here it is, Extremely Rare AOTC Red Clone with silver rifle ... quite the eyecatcher! This is an auction for a NO RESERVE MOC AOTC Clone trooper with a SILVER Rifle and a HALF-PAINTED Visor. I've been trying to collect all the clone variants when I came across this extraordinary find! After cross-checking this photo with a photo of a 'standard' auction red clone trooper, there is no question regarding the authenticity of this piece. Please stay tuned for more hard-to-find variant auctions from me and also check out my current auctions for I am selling my entire collection over the next few weeks to all you fellow Star Wars enthusiasts! I am currently showing this item locally and reserve the right to end auction early so Happy Bidding and thanks for looking.”

Since he's showing it locally, I'd urge all Malibu area Troops to scope it out and make sure to bring those macrobinoculars or else it will look like the same figure you see on the pegs at every retail store in the nation. If you're not on the West coast, just check his other auction. The amazing thing about this Jango ' variant' is that it also has NO INSERT! Indeed! The same bidder went for this one too, shady ... way shady.

Thanks to Troopers LooseToon and Jay Loud for heading the charge in eliminating the Shady Soldiers one at a time.

Sandtrooper SoCal Jedi Dom Reports:
Dom, of Dom and Dommer“Well, STILL not much new out here in the Inland Empire of California. Got the Animated wave 2 in numerous quantities, e-mail me if you needs these, preferably for trade. I also have a set of the 12-inch Garindan, Ben and Jawas for trade, which will go back on store shelves Friday if nobody's interested. Everything I have is C-9+. I am looking for the Yavin wave, Jabba's Palace wave and the deluxe Jabba wave. Does anyone have all 9 of the new 3 inch figures as a whole, to ship in one shot? If someone has an extra set of all 9 C-9+ figs, which include Tanus Spijek, Lando in Skiff disguise, Rappertunie, J'Quille, Holographic Luke, Captain Antilles, General Dodonna, TIE Pilot, and Dutch Vander, I will pay cost plus shipping, and an additional $1 per figure as an added bonus. If anyone has either wave, I would like to work something out as well. How about the 2 newest deluxe figs? I have things to trade, hoping for help!”

Sandtrooper Parkay reports:
I can’t believe it’s not Sandtroopers.comDateline: Will Work for New Figures  “I got tired of seeing all those 2002 figs at my local Wal-Mart here in Sumter, SC. I saw they put a small portion of them in the clearance aisle. Well, that's when I decided to help out my local Wal-Mart for free. I took it upon myself to move about 3 pegs worth of Anakin (Outland Peasant Disguise) figs over to the clearance aisle myself, leaving 3 empty pegs in the new aisle. Checked back 3 days later and we have new figs on the pegs!!! Found the newest holo Luke, Lando Skiff, J'Quille, and the green dude all in multiple quantities. Sometimes you just have to work a little to get some new figs on the shelf. Checked Kmart the next day and they had the same new figs, and all the 2002 figs where moved to a clearance aisle (though they didn't appear to be marked down).”

Sandtrooper NYC Jared reports:
“Unfortunately, not much to find here in the NYC area. I did manage to score the second wave of the animated Clone Wars figs a week or so ago at a local Target but haven’t seen them or anything else new since. I do have an extra Hologram Luke, Rappertunie and Lando Skiff. I was wondering whether anyone has an extra R1-G4 to trade for any of the above three figs. Let me know. By the way, I think this site is excellent and extremely useful. Keep up the good work and thanks!”

Thanks for the NYC-Troopin’ Jared! Along with Troopette Lisette, Trooper Jared rules the Island. Anyone in the five burroughs of New York will tell you Sandtroopers.com is getting the toys and fighting the scalpers! Are there any more Long Island Troopers out there?

Sandtrooper “Trooper Larry” reports:
It’s a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it. We like Transformers ’cuz they’re more than meets the eye, YEAH!Dateline: Any Day You Can Smack a Scalper Hard Enough to Cause His Shoe Laces to Come Untied, is a Good Day “Hey Troops! Trooper Larry reporting from the Mentor, Ohio area. Wal-Mart, Kmart, TRU, and KB are empty. A few Hoth troopers and some of the bar wave still hangin' around, but that’s about it. Target in Willoughby was empty: had a lone cartoon Mace, and a few Geo fighters. I traveled a little further down the road to Wal-Mart in Eastlake, and finally hit the jackpot. Was able to get Holo Luke, Rappertunie, Lando skiff, TIE Pilot, Dodonna, and Dutch Vander. Although the wallet is a little lighter, it was well worth it. Any day I can smack a scalper hard enough to cause his shoe laces to come untied, is a good day. Kick @$% and take names troops.”

Power of the Bay 2 - Son of Return of Freak of the Week Part 2:
The Gentle Art of Making Enemies: 3174488997 - Here's another loser that kept these from an apprectiating fan! Oh, the kicker is he calls them perfect. Glad we took the time to really inspect these lame pictures the seller put up in an effort to fool people. As a follow up on the guy with the Theater Lukes, we questioned him about the condition and he was IRATE. Here's his reply:

“Hey f@%#er,
I don't know if you were kidding or just being an a$%hole on those e-mails that you sent me, but you need to watch what you're saying to people. You don't know s&!# about the stuff I'm selling, and if you have a problem with the descrip matching the pic then don't bid. People like me don't need your dumb@$% comments, especially when you aren't buying from me.”

Isn't it just so nice to get a professional response to a query on a description and pic? Real winner that one was. We'll keep an eye on what other "perfect" items this creep finds in a box under his bed, who knows, maybe he can be Freak of the Week”, again real soon! This cat claims he managed a theater and got these on "reopening day of the Trilogy, January 31, 1997 (sic)." Some Sandtroopers were born at night, but not last night. The next time one of our detachments make it out to the Great Salt Flats, we'll pay this joker a visit.

Like Two Swords, Two Auctions Sharpen Each Other: After that vulgar display of glower, I think this should be shown because you probably won't see it again any time soon. Trooper Jay Loud brought this one to our attention, Item # 3175491381. Just amazing the amount some are willing to put out. I guess only the Hutts could afford it as it turned out.

Remember Troops, scalpers aren't something you should have to live with as a fact of life. Pick up figures and sell them for cost plus shipping, or pick some up from a Troop nice enough to do likewise. Don't buy from the scalper and he will go away. Better yet, call them out here on Front Street for everyone to laugh at! Begin Today.

Sandtrooper Force Hunter Speaks:
“I know you don't do G.I.Joe, but could you keep an eye out of the G.I.Joe Valor vs. Venom Cobra Infantry Forces (SKU 170669)? I called TRU and they even told me that they did not even get them in on the truck. The person I talked to said that she unloaded the truck herself and did not see any. I was even told a week ago that they did not even leave the warehouse. I looked at the screen myself. I just wanted some help from sandtroopers.com members to help me find some extra packs, I appreciate your support. The only real good sightings I have had are Echo base trooper and the Snowtrooper at a local Target in Jacksonville, Florida. The Troops have helped me with the Target B-Wing a few years back, so I thought I would try again, they are good at helping find stuff. Thanks guys. Good luck and Good Hunting.”
patriotspride2003@yahoo.com

Attention Jacksonville S.C.A.L.P. forces! Help out Legacy Trooper Force Hunter and don't let that damn scalper, toylet@fair.net (formerly known on ebay as toyletfair) snatch up all the Cobra Infantry sets that make it into Jacksonville. Back in 2001, this extra foul piece of dewback dung sucked up all the short-packed Darth Maul Sith Apprentices and Target B-Wings that made it to Jacksonville, and put them on the 'bay (just when you thought it was safe to return). We're on to you and it's about to get heavy! General J and CWO Spice will fight these losers with Bounty Officer 50 Cent 'til the bitter end, and Darth Crypt too will be conjured up (should things get ugly).

FRIDAY THE 13th AGAIN! It's Not Over 'til We Say It's Over!
Better check under the bed tonight kiddies, you may find a psycho under there waiting to pop your ankles ... or it might be a scalper trying to steal one of your elusive Star Wars figures! This could be an omen or a Blair Witch bamboozlement to rid Sandtroopers of my services! We're sure the eternal villains like Card Bender and the rest of the immortal enemies will be back on the next 13th (in two months from now no less!), or sooner. I've prepared a night's supply of Coffee and Darth Crypt and I will stay up all night in a sleep-deprivation experiment to enforce S.C.A.L.P. policy until this time anomoly clears up.

Happy Valentine's Day from Your Friends at S.C.A.L.P. Florists:
Happy Valentine's Day to all the Troops and Troopettes out there in Trooperland. We hope all of you took some time off from “Getting the Toys and Fighting the Scalpers” to spend some time with that special someone or take aim at that person you want to be your Intergalactic hussy. Take a hint from our Valentine's Day Card from us to you (lovingly created by Sandtroopers' Graphito-Tag Artist Sandtrooper Dan) for reasonable gift ideas (especially in the case of that gift for that scalper who remains a thorn in your side). And, if you're still trying to impress that aloof female without success, I can guarantee all you guys out there that you'll melt her butter when you show up with the spattered blood of a scalper all over your shirt. And, if law enforcement officials whomp on you before you finish the job (allowing the scalper to flee without injury) remember that chicks dig scars, so don't fear the policeman's baton on this day Troops! But you may not want to 'lissen' to Gen'ral J, because I showed a girl my lacerated and bruised knuckles after messing up a local scalper and she just said "Eewe, gross!" Begin Today, and for another Valentine's Day treat, see CWO Spiceowan's ST (Sandtroopers) Valentine's Day Massacre, just below some words from our friend Trooper Brian Semling. Stopping scalpers' hearts with a fatal blow.

New review posted
Hey Troops, I posted a new review today, but it is a little different from normal. I know there are a lot of people interested in GIJoe and MotU, so I thought since we all like a little diversity in our collections, perhaps we would also like a little in our reading list. Today I offer up a review of a book titled Dissolution by Richard Lee Byers. This story takes place in a realm that was originally brought to us by none other than R.A. Salvatore, author of Vector Prime and Attack of the Clones novelization. If you are curious, click here to check it out.

ST. Valentines Day Massacre: A Suckathon Love Story
Hey Troops I have been doing some surveillance of ebay once again and have discovered enough garbage that I decided that there was just too much to have a regular Suckathon so I decided in lieu of the Holiday and our never-ending love for nostalgia I would host the first ever ST. Valentines Day Massacre. Now we are just collectors, and we would never fancy ourselves to be real gangsters. We will feature some of the reasons you are pulling your Helmets off in anguish. These are people who should really find a better way to make five bucks? We used to have a strong ally in the area, could it be any darker? Clock is ticking and I hope they get stuck with every single one they snatched up the day after Christmas. I have been hearing a lot of people asking where the Clone Wars Animated Wave 2 is; I think I have found them. There are thousands more. There are many who still are eluded by the Red ARC Trooper, seems people want to try to send their children to an institute of higher learning, on you. I don’t know about a Thundercat but this is definitely a ho! They buy them all and try to appear noble and start bidding near the amount they paid, why not leave them on the shelf? I am sure the Post Office and Fed Ex Employees love you guys but really, isn’t a real job a better alternative? Going store to store and hoarding the newer product and what appears to not make anything or only a few dollars when you consider how much time, and fuel you are wasting. The collectors who are under the delusion, they should buy them all and get theirs free, these people are the enemy Troops. Jag-Bags like this wreck the true fun of the great hobby we all love. Enjoy this special day Troops with that special Troopette of yours, and take the jokes in stride. This is why we take the time to massacre the scum that make ebay a bad place. Update: Trooper Lustig turned in the Super-Sucka of the week! For these reasons my mission will continue…

Sandtroopers Infinities - The Saga Continues:
The brawl to settle it allLike Solo, Shipwreck takes a central role in his saga, as he seems to be a favorite of the G.I.Joe cartoon's creative team. He comes off like Han Solo, in some ways. If you remember the cartoon's canon, the Joes originally met him in "The Vines of Evil" (Part 2 in the 5-part mini-series G.I.Joe: The Revenge Of Cobra) as a shady mercenary in a bar. While Solo had his "Mos Eisley Cantina" where Aliens assaulted Luke only to be dismembered by Obi-Wan's saber blade, Shipwreck had the equally seedy "Cobra Cafe" where eye-patched ruffians tried to steal Flint's and Mutt's weapons only to get beaten-up. It's no coincidence that both the "Cobra Cafe" and "Mos Eisley Cantina" stand as busy establishments in occupied desert towns.

Both Solo's and Shipwreck's redeeming factor was that each had his own transportation. Solo touted the Falcon as a nice ride worthy of the high price, and so did Shipwreck, saying: "I'm with myself, and anybody who can pay my price. The name's Shipwreck." Han used Luke and Ben's fleeing from the Empire to his advantage, just as Shipwreck when he spoke of the Joes' avoiding the Cobra Amry: "Because you're not exactly number one on Cobra's sweetheart parade. Now, you wanna pay my fee and get outta here?" Once on their journeys, Solo and Shipwreck each has a trick up his sleeve in evading the enemy. Han's advantage was a hyperdrive while Shipwreck avoided Cobra's sensors with a wind-powered sail thruster vehicle. At the end of their journeys, Shipwreck's team met a sandstorm just as the crew of the Millenium Falcon came out of lightspeed in the rubble of the Alderaan decimation.

A member of 50 Cent’s GangAlmost identical to the way Han was introduced, Shipwreck often alluded to being a former smuggler, rogue, and all around 'scoundrel.' Plus, his personality is an identical match: an egotistical smartass, who thinks he's somewhat of a ladies' man. Just as Han challenged Luke's interest in Leia with his own, Shipwreck too went for Lady Jaye after rescuing Flint. You could even make the case that Polly was his "Chewie," although Snake-Eyes acts like his sidekick in this particular story. Just like "Friday the 13th: Freddy vs. Jason," the outcome of "Friday the 13th: Solo vs. Shipwreck" is dependent on whether you're a bigger Star Wars or G.I.Joe fan. This story supplements the question of whether any bad luck befell the Enemy Army (scalpers) today. Meanwhile, sit back with the Troopers while we watch the two scoundrels "Duke" it out. Yo Joe, or something like that.

I was lucky enough to snag Jabba earlier in the week at Target. Someone has been hiding figures in Flint, and I don't think they meant for me to find them! Is Hasbro still making these?Dateline: Worm-ridden Filth, Little Green Guy and Great Finds in North 'Bama  “Hey all, things are really looking up. I found the Yavin wave at Wal-Mart and I found wave 2 of the Animated Clone Wars at Target. I know wave 2 had just been popping up but I refused to resort to ebay. The 2 Targets we have were still getting in wave 1. I don't know whether people were going to our Target late at night and buying all of them before they closed or what. I called Hasbro about wave 2 and the woman I talked to told my they have been discontinued. Still no sign of the worm ridden filth Jabba. I also spotted the Holo Luke, Lando Skiff and that little green guy from the Max Rebo Band. I didn't get these. That about wraps it up. Take care.”

My cousin has been on a mission here for a couple of years. I can honestly say I really didn't have alot of faith in the Sandtrooper, things change. It was really nice to see first hand some of great things I hear about constantly from Spice. I recently cleared out a bedroom in my house and will be starting a War Room of my own. Rest assured I will have my collection added to the Sandtrooper Gallery as well as my top notch security systems. I will be hoping to go through everything I have thrown in boxes from the last 6 years and maybe make some more trades. I wouldn't say I have gold but maybe a couple gems. Thanks again Erich for a great deal and a great start to display my collection.”

Area report Lafayette, IN
Hey Troops, I made the rounds today. I don't get to do this very often, maybe only once every two or three weeks, so imagine my surprise when I hit the jackpot at more than one store! I stopped by the West Lafayette Wal-Mart and found one each of the new Yavin wave. Next on my hunt was the Wal-Mart in Lafayette. There I found one each of the new Holo Luke wave as well as Jabba and his denizens. Next, Target. Nothing, they had the remnants of the 1st Animated wave, but no sign of wave two. Finally, I stopped at K-Mart. They actually had a single Holo Luke on the pegs. That was all. I have to say, these new waves of figures are looking really great. For a while I was thinking the LOTR figures were really putting SW to shame, especially when I saw the price dropped to one similar to SW with the new packaging. But come on, have you seen the new LotR figures? They look horrible. Really shoddy workmanship. The new SW figures look awesome. Take a look at Dutch when you find him! What a likeness! Amazing, simply amazing.

Target (Gurnee, IL): “had 1 Jedi Luke, 2 R2-D2s w/tray, and Hoth wave figs. Not to mention the same first wave of Animated CW figs.

TRU (Gurnee, IL): “had Unleashed Han, Yoda, & Boba Fett. The rest were CW Anakin (Pilot) and Yoda as well as the old Ultra figs.”

“Hello Fellow Troopers, Trooper RH reporting from N.E. Florida. I decided to stop by my local Super Wal-Mart to check for any sign of new figures and to my suprise found the four newest figures of General Jan Dodonna, Dutch Vander (Gold Leader), TIE Fighter Pilot, and Captain Antilles. There was only one of each with the exception of the TIE Fighter Pilot on the pegs. They also had 1 Lando skiff disquise on the counter. Hopefully another collector bought the rest. This has been a good week for Star Wars because earlier in the week I had found at my local Big Kmart (so don't count them out) the Jabba's Palace wave 1 Luke Jedi,1 R2-D2 with tray, 2 Rappertunie, 2 Holographic Luke, 2 J'Quille, 2 Lando Skiff Disquise, 1 Rebel Soldier, and 1 Luke Hoth Wampa Damage. At my Targets I only found 1 Animated Durge figure, no signs of the others. Nothing else new to report. Keep up the hunt, the figures are slowly coming in. MTFBWY.”

Beyond Belief: Sandtrooper Fact or Fiction, Episode 3.02 “Agent Faces and the Darth Dichotomy” or “Cover Girl and the Schismatic Sith”
Within this hour...Background: In May 1997, the famous words, “Within this hour we will tell you five stories, some real, some fake, you decide. Your call” could first be heard. In 2002, General J of Sandtroopers joined the ranks of James Brolin and Jonathan Frakes to bring you “Beyond Belief - Fact or Fiction ...”

“I don't blame you for being skeptical, it's pretty beyond belief. With the shot he took, it's everything but real to me. I've had some good errors and such but this is definitely too questionable for me to have had even bid the penny it started at.” Is this seller telling the truth or is he cooking our goose?

[Very rare Darth Tyranus Geonosis Escape figure on a Return of the Jedi Saga package with a Darth Maul (Theed Hangar Duel) insert (sic)] CLICK TO ENLARGE[The cardback is plain (sic)] CLICK TO ENLARGEMint on card. From Hasbro's Star Wars Saga Collection. You are bidding on a very rare Darth Tyranus Geonosis Escape figure on a Return of the Jedi Saga package with a Darth Maul (Theed Hangar Duel) insert! This figure is not a custom and was actually purchased at Wal-Mart in Springdale, AR on January 23, 2004. The cardback is plain (see scan). Bid on this unusual figure that will surely be a great addition to your collection! Shipping is $4.50.

[MINT Padme Amidala from the highly collectible Unleashed series (sic)] CLICK TO ENLARGE[Very rare variant edition (sic)] CLICK TO ENLARGEItem number: 3174061470. “Read the description. What do you think? I think the guy sees collectors as beeing fools. I know of no 'pretty' painted variant myself.” But sometimes the truth can be more than meets the eye ...

Description: MINT Padme Amidala from the highly collectible Unleashed series. This particular figure is a very rare variant edition featuring a repaint of Amidala's face. Her make-up is much more feminine than the regular version and makes her appear much more attractive (see picture). Package was very briefly opened to photograph for a catalogue and then carefully resealed. Item is absolutely complete and mint.

So, what did you think? Can variants this unusual slip through the cracks? Or perhaps the sellers' stories weren't rock solid? The solution at the end of tonight's episode.

S.C.A.L.P. Sporting Goods MalfunctionDateline: Guess Who's Back?  “Minnesota Report! The Scalpers here are as thick as the people who believe in ' Wardrobe Malfunctions.'

Target: “I have yet to see a Wampa. All Target has are the red 3-PO and Hoth Troopers (never have enough cannon fodder I guess). I asked an employee whether there was any backstock, the Britney clone who worked in toys gave me the BS line 'everything we have is out.' This girl looked like the type who would try to fit 2 quarts of water into the Kool-Aid packet. Left with a full wallet but an empty heart.

TRU: “Do they even carry toys anymore?

Wal-Mart:  My Wife: “Gee honey, let's go look at sheets and comforters first!”
Stupid me: “Sure, why not? (It's all about %@^!ing compromise)
Conclusion?: “By the time I got to the Toy Dept. a guy was walking off with ALL of the new Jabba wave.
Solution?: “Get a bat from the Sports Dept and leave the guy in less-than-mint condition.
Problem?: “Wife says I have an anger problem and to calm down ...ME?!?! AN ANGER PROBLEM!?!?! AHHHHHG! No SW, one step closer to a watchtower with a rifle.

Force of the Bay: Just When You Thought it Was Safe to Return to the Bay!
Hey Troops, I’ve been searching through the depths of ebay looking for the rare and unique items that seem to litter the greatest online auction force in the free world. For some of us it may be one of the first figures ever to grace our collections. For others it might be the thing that has eluded you for over twenty years. More times than many you will find a seller that lays it all out on the table for you. It is good to see completely what you are getting yourself into. It may have been something worth reading as far back as 1980. We may have to seek our own Steve Hart for an opinion on that. You may be searching for one of the first variants in the history of the hobby, and you will find not one, but plenty. Something that you had, that Mom threw away after you moved out. It is so easy to re-collect obscure pieces of a vintage collection. We won’t even go into what that looks like! It sort of resembles that thing Darth Crypt has been carrying around in his wallet since Sophomore year of High School. You may find a new dish, or some other blast from the past that you never even knew existed. I always seem to find people who took better care of their toys than I did. From common items to old favorites, I guarantee you will find it all. You will find out there are things you never imagined that people put in a closet. Whether it turns your neck green as a Gamorrean, you’ll just have to find out. There can be some risk involved in this. Conduct rock-solid feedback checks and if you think something is fishy chances are it is. Sandtroopers.com neither endorses nor authenticates the items featured here. Good luck to you Troops in your searches, Kick A$% and take names!

Area Report: Sandtroopin' Jake and Elwood Style
Nametaker, Code Name: FLINTHey Troops, I have been laying low as far as figure searches but yesterday I decided to take an extensive run from Chicago, Illinois to Racine, Wisconsin. For such a mission I enlisted the help of Sandtrooper Matt-Tambor of the Kenosha, WI Techno Union. We shot straight down I-94 all the way to Kimball Ave, and up Belmont to a hidden treasure chest called Forever Young. Upon entry, one will find it being much like being at the Action Figure section of ebay. Only you are in person to inspect the goods. It is very possible you could re-live every Christmas and Birthday you have ever experienced, from Mego Action Heroes to Vintage Star Wars, Masters of the Universe and everything in between. There was also a good supply of newer POTF assortments and Episode I and II. The prices were a tad steep but to be right across the street from the Windy City, I can imagine the rent is kind of steep too. After we finished an hour long tour of nostalgia, and contemplating whether or not to add a Marmit figure to my collection, we decided to press on.

We then hit up the Niles area, stopping at possibly the most unorganized pigsty of a comic store I have ever seen. They did have some newer Star Wars figures for sale at halfway decent prices, but seeing the three new Unleashed for $22 bucks apiece, we decided we had seen enough. This is the enemy Troops, I will not pay his light bill. We checked out the Target, which by 11 a.m. was completely wiped other than a few Animated Wave 1 figures and the usual Vehicle/Lightsaber assortment. The Toys R Us offered nothing new either. They probably had the new Unleashed line a few hours before we got there we guestimated. I then navigated my strike team to Deerfield, IL where the Chicago Bulls practice, but there were no cars coming in or out of the Berto Center. However, the TRU had one of the treasures of the day and my biggest point of conflict: three of the Valor vs. Venom 6-Pack Cobra Infantry sets. It was a painstaking decision to leave all three and even Matt didn’t remind me to hide one for Chad! I’m sure we’ll see again but this is an amazing set for collectors who cry “Cobraaaaaa!” The Star Wars offered Jedi 4-packs and about 12 Kren Blista-Vanee figures. There was also a Lando Skiff Guard 12-inch but I have decided to quit buying this line due to the fact that I need oxygen and space is now more important than plastic down here. Having very little luck in the area, we skipped the Highland Park Target and I opted to show Matt where his Airness lives, too bad you can only see a gate with the number 23 across it. Matt was impressed with my knowledge of the area, and suggested we survey the carnage in Lake County, Illinois.

The Waukegan K-Mart had leftovers from Clone Wars wave 1. There was also a Bail Organa and Padme Secret Ceremony. If you are that interested in Gurnee, IL check out Sandtrooper Dennis’ report a few clicks earlier, it was pretty much the same thing. Round Lake Wal-Mart had only a few Kren Blista-Vanee figures, and Senator Palpatine! We really cleaned house in Kenosha, WI. Wal-Mart must have just put out 3 cases of the new J’ Quille assortment with Lando, Holo Luke and Rappertunie. Matt was able to obtain these at the Kenosha Wal-Mart but failed to report due to Jabba himself having appeared to have sat on these cases (liked that quote). All and all a pretty good day, regrets not buying all three of the Marmit figures and Cobra Infantry, the fun, hanging out with a guy I met from the greatest collection tool in the SW universe. Begin Today Troops, Kick A$% and take names!

Sandtrooper “Trooper Larry” reports:
From the cover of Rolling Stone“Hey troops! Made my usual run today, and managed a small score. Target in Willoughby had the first wave of the animated figs. Also a couple of Geo Fighters and Ani Fighters. Other than that, nothin' of any significance. Hit TRU on the way back, and the outlook is just bleak. Nothing new accept for the Jedi 4 pack. Hopefully things will pick up there soon. Ran over to KB, and missed out on the Brown coat Han, and corrected (the glove don’t fit) Luke. Was going to stop by Walmart, but the fiance' called, and told me I had to come home. Much to my surprise, she had already been to Wal-Mart, and picked me up the R1-G4, and R2 sail barge I needed. Big thank you to her. That’s it for this report. Take care troops.”

Survivor's Quest on sale
Hey Troops, I made the rounds in Lafayette, IN today. There is nothing newer than the Imperial Dignitary waves to report around here. Toys R Us did have one Drink serving R2, but the rest of that wave was history. I did pick up Survivor's Quest by Timothy Zahn today. Walden Books has it for 15% off, plus an additional 10% if you have the reader's discount. But even better, I was buying a couple of Dungeons and Dragons books and the lady told me buy 4 books get 1 free. So if there are some books you are looking for right now, this is a great time to save some money. I ended up with 2 Bob the Builder books for my two-year-old. He loves 'em! Anyway, back to Zahn. I have enjoyed all of his Star Wars work, so I am sure I will like this one too, despite the fact this era of the timeline has been over done. As soon as I am done, I will post my review.

Sandtrooper Tampa Bay James reports:
“Trooper James from warm and sunny Tampa, FL. Went to the Target on 9th St in St. Pete: nothing new, couple of cartoon figs. KB in Tyrone Mall, lots of deluxe Yoda and 3PO for $3.99, not much else. Super Wal-Mart on 34 St? Same peg warmers as the last 6 or 7 times I have been there. That's it for now. MTFBWY.”

Sandtrooper Jedikatarn reports:
“Jedikatarn reporting in from Southwestern PA. Target had the first wave of the animated Clone Wars figures with a lone Count Dooku, which I purchased. They also had Jedi gold card repacks. The surprise of the day was finding the Hall of Fame figures at the
Cranberry Township Wal-Mart. Looks like they had put out a single case, which has one of each of the 12. I got the Vader, R2, C-3PO, and Stormie and left the rest. TRU was lame as usual with a couple of Lott Dods, keep the faith!”

Sandtrooper TPU Steve in the UK reports:
“I was in Toys 'R' Us in Walsall on Wednesday looking for any new Star Wars figures. There was nothing new on the shelves - just the usual blue carded Jangos, Yodas and Anakins, etc at 1.99 each. But on the floor, there were six medium sized unopened brown boxes. They all had the Hasbro label on them, so I opened one and it was a case full of 'Clone Wars' Durge (about 12)! I opened the other five boxes, which had cases full of: Obi-Wan (General), Asajj Ventress, Mace Windu (General), Saesee Tiin, and New Clone Trooper. This was great, I'd already got the first 'Clone Wars' figures at Toys 'R' Us (Anakin, Yoda and ARC Trooper), so the only one missing seems to be Kit Fisto (no sign of him). The other (slightly disappointing) news is that these six new figures went through the till at 6.99 each (not 5.99 as I was expecting) - I said to the cashier that they were all with the 1.99 figures so she double-checked with someone - only the blue carded figures are 1.99 (oh well, it was worth a try!). Still, I don't mind paying 6.99 per figure if they all become available at retail - I hope it's a sign of things to come!”

Sandtrooper Jimsjedi reports:
... and knowing is half the battle. “Jimsjedi here from the iced over northeast. It looks so pretty. Yeah right! It's been basically quiet here for sometime now, with only a little finds around. Found the Animated wave 2 last weekend besides the Clone Trooper, and found a lone Lando in Skiff guard. TRU had the Jedi 4 pack, which I passed on. I'm so sick of all these repacks. Do stores just send back the peg warmers so Hasbro can just open them up to throw them into new packaging? Hasbro has the Star Wars license until 2018. Can you imagine how many more Mace Windus and Plo Koons we are going to see? I am deciding to get rid of my 12-inch collection. I have most of the ones with the door flaps for trade. Please take a look at my trades in the trades section. Thanks.”

According to the folks at the Esdevium stand, it will appear in the third quarter of this year. The boxes on display, while just mock-ups, tell us that the release will be focusing on the Classic Trilogy.” More

Sandtrooper SoCal Jedi Dom Reports:
Dom, of Dom and Dommer“I wanted to give some updates for stores around my area. Wal-Marts have been satiated with the Jedi Luke, Bartoo and R1-G4 waves, whereas Targets have either been completely empty, or filled with the Hoth waves, and even older waves that include Aayla, Barriss, Snowtrooper and Throne Room Vaders and Lukes to name a few. The most unfortunate thing I think at this time, is that the Wal-Marts around here have only 4 pegs for figures, and the rest for lightsabers. This is the most upsetting, because there are no spots for Unleashed, Deluxe, 12-inch or any other items that other troopers are finding at their local stores. With news of many people finding the Deluxe Jabba and Denizens, as well as the Rappertunie wave and the Jan Dodonna wave, I wonder what will come of the Star Wars sections at my local stores. Though optimism and patience are the attributes that steer my collecting ways, I am a little worried that the good luck I have seen up until now may have come to a temporary dead end. I say this not because I have not found anything in a week or two, but only because I have never seen the sections look as small as they are in the 5 or so years I have been collecting. This is no time to whine or complain, I am just expressing concern. I would like to know what other people have found, or what other people are experiencing.

“Does anyone out there have an extra Clone Trooper from the Clone wars line in the kneeling, right-facing position? This is the only figure I need to fulfill my collection through the Luke Jedi wave. I am also looking for the Rappertunie waves or the Dodonna waves, or both, in full, as well as he Jabba deluxe wave. I would be willing to add a few extra dollars to anyone who could come up with them for me. I may even be able to trade a few items. I may be able to get an extra set of the newest Unleashed, or the newest wave of Animated figs, and possibly an Ephant Mon. E-mail me if you can help!”

Sandtrooper Bobafred with The San Fernando Valley & South Bay Edition:
If you see these guys - runDateline: Survivor - Compton  “Bobafred chiming in from So Cali. I have to agree with So Cal Dude, we are having some really jamming days out here! I was wondering whether anyone can help out with some of these old pieces I'm looking for: youth Jango Blasters with Holster, and Holiday R2-D2 & 3-PO and Yoda. I am also looking for red ARC Trooper, super articulate Clone, any of the Clone 3 packs, Unleashed Vader Both versions, and 12-inch Ewoks and Biker Scout. I would pay cash or trade which ever you prefer! If you can assist please forward info to orozco91331@yahoo.com. I went on extensive toy hunt through the South Bay starting at Gardena, hitting Compton, Carson, and Long Beach netting bounties for trade: R1-G4, R2-D2 with tray, Jedi Luke, brown coat Han, Hoth Trooper, Throne Room Vader, and Boba Fett pit of Carkoon, I also have Cartoon Networks wave 2.

“I will ad my 2 cents to el General's 50 cent and say this. I really find it hard to keep up with all this action hitting here and there. It was not until I had seen Hot Wheels, McFarlane collectors, etc., jamming with Star Wars inventory in hand did I come to my senses and hit them where it hurt. I took the bounties they were searching for and made contacts with certain collectors to trade these pieces for my bounties they are running off with. I unified all the intelligence shared between all these Scouts, and now have a good hand on new Star Wars hitting. Just this morning before making my daily run I received a call from Scout # 000; he informed me that he bagged Ultra wave 2 for me. Impressive I would say! T Hunt here, McFarlane Chase there, Marvel Legends etc. will bring you your bounty. Team up and expand the Hunt! You have to give to get! Some of these collectors are a little Shady but once they see you're helping them complete their collection, Scouts they will become!

”Shady Soldier might have pulled his hit off but Bobafred heard the calling on my sweep through the hood. I pulled Two Evil-Lyns and the Chase Whiplash with copper staff and belt. I put 2 Trap Jaws on hold as well. I don't collect MotU but will trade or sell to our Troopers!”

Not much for new stuff since the holidays, but they are in the process of remodeling, so that may have something to do with it. But have they put out other toys? Anyway, on to the real news. Both of my local Wal-Marts had some new stuff today. My regular Wal-Mart put out 2 cases of the Holo Luke, Skiff Lando, Rappertunie, J'Quille wave today. Some of the cards were pretty beat up but I got me a few in good shape. Left the rest for openers. Then my Super Wal-Mart got in the Ultra Wave 2. Beat to death. Looked like Jabba himself sat on the box before they were put on the pegs. I picked up a set just in case I never see them again. These days you never know. My TRU is still overun with Clone Wars Wave 1. That about sums it up. For those interested, the super Wal-Mart put out a case of the AoME LOTR wave 3. Some cool sets in that wave. Keep Hunting.”

BROCA Realty has an extensive property listing available in Northern AlabamaDateline: North 'Bama Score “Hey all, I went to Wal-Mart this morning before work and I scored the 12-inch Garindan and the Jawas. I must say, the Jawas in this set look a lot better than the one that came out in 1998. Take care.”

Sandtrooper Jedi Taz reports:
“Sean here from the Delaware / Maryland area where it's usually few and far between for us collectors. A while back I recall a few troops posting about looking for the Wal-Mart exclusive Spawn set. Well I came across one and picked it up. If anyone is interested, my needs are the new Jabba's Palace Wave, and also looking for the Sam's Club exclusive Universe Optimus and Ultra Magnus repaints. If anyone has any of these and would be interested in setting up a trade of some sort, e-mail me. Thanks troops, and kick A$% and take names!”

Sandtrooper JC reports:
“Per General J's request, Sandtrooper JC reporting in. The only thing colder than the weather in Western New York has been the hunt. That is, until yesterday. The second wave of animated Clone Wars figures have shown up at all area Targets (Amherst, Kenmore & Niagara Falls) along with some lingering Hoth wave figures. By the way, the prices on the figures had not increased. Wal-Mart in Niagara Falls today had the holo Luke / Lando Skiff wave along with the 2nd wave of Ultra figures (didn't see that one comin'!). They had 2 cases of the basic figures and 1 case of the Ultras which include 2 Wampas, in case anyone missed them the first time around. TRU in Niagara Falls last Sunday was a joke. They had nothing new and, better yet, had no idea of any kind of sale going on around SW merchandise! Guess they didn't get the memo! On a side note, anyone in the Western New York area that frequents that store should know that I stopped by there yesterday only to find the doors locked with a 'closed until further notice' sign on the door. I was in there a few days earlier and noticed their roof leaking very badly. I can only assume that is the reason for the closing. Kmarts in the area continue to be a total waste of time, with figures dating back to 4-23-02. I stopped by KB Toy Works today at lunch, but they had nothing. They get a truck on Monday.

“I would like to give a long overdue thanks to Alfred Orozco for putting the elusive brown coat Hoth Han in my hands. Never did see this figure in my area. Alfred's a solid trader and I would recommend him to anyone. That's it until something new comes in, hopefully soon!”

Thanks for hearing the call JC! Mad props to you and to Alfred "Bobafred" Orozco on the recent trade. And JC, can a WNY scalper survive a ride down Niagara Falls in a barrel?

Sandtroopers.com presents: “Shady Soldiers”

I’m fulla focus man, my money on my mind

Tatooine's Most Wanted - He's Full of Focus Man, His Money on his Mind: Earlier last month, an Imperial APB was issued for 37-year-old Richard Rembert of Allentown, PA for heinous high crimes against all honest collectors out there, in lamens terms: “Scalping.” To further align himself in the crosshairs of General J's modified MG-34 Blaster Rifle, this Shady Soldier even returned the merchandise he couldn't sell at Ankle-Grabbers Comics to innocent retailers who had to eat the cost, increasing his profits, and, worst of all, causing Lehigh Valley collectors to stare at pegs full of old figures. Since the local law enforcement's hands were tied on this one, S.C.A.L.P. Bounty Officer 50 Cent and General J launched an Extensive Investigation, using this fool's own ebay auctions against him! After 50 spotted Rembert returning old Masters of the Universe figures for 2 Evil-Lyns and 2 Prince Adams at a local shop, two days later General J cross-referenced all Southeast PA sellers against all current Evil-Lyn and Prince Adam auctions. When one seller named cosmixx_toys turned up with two, yes two, of each for sale, S.C.A.L.P. dispatched hastily, and with the Sandtroopers Flikhincubano Mountaineers Division as backup, prepared for battle with the Shady Soldiers and Dr. Cardbender. Our band of anti-scalper, pro-fan Troops found that he runs a site called Cosmixx Toys Sales where he sells his shadily-gotten goods and then boasts about how good the money is! With his own photo on the site, a positive ID was made without even having to utilize a Probe Droid.

Shady, I’m real Shady.“Comics & Toy Shows at the Malls were always good money. Then came the internet and ebay auctions and other online market places such as Yahoo and E-commerce. With an easy way to advertise on the web and an online web store updated every 2 days or so, it helped my business out and get the word around. Well, that's it for now I'll keep you updated on how my business is going.”

A Power Sucka too, this guy is one of the reasons some of the Cartoon Network Clone Wars Animated figures have been hard to find in many areas. If you hardcore Troops out in Trooperland run across any of the Shady Soldiers, turn the suckers in to become part of a S.C.A.L.P. (Sandtroopers.Com Auxiliary Long-Range Patrol) mission. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, take up arms and shut down Ankle-Grabbers Comics! Begin Today.

Sandtrooper J-Loud reports:
Dateline: I Wasn't Aware that a Holo Image Was Able to Hold Anything, Much Less Fight with a Saber! “Price increase alert!!!! I went to a Target in Upstate New York the other day and scored the R1-G4 and Bartender R2 and they rang up at $5.99!! Yeah, $5.99. Target was always a good place to buy figs as the price was always pretty competitive with TRU and Wally World. The old price stickers for $4.99 were still up so I was able to walk away with them for the lower price. I just thought all the troopers should be aware about this increase. I'm not sure whether this is going to spread to other chains but let's just hope that this is just a Target thing. On another note I was able to score the Jabba wave with Lando, J'Quille, Rappertunie and Holo saber wielding Luke!?! Funny, I wasn't aware that a holo image was able to hold anything much less fight with a saber. Wuz' up wit dat!?!”
J-Loud

Thanks for the Upstate Target report from the Empire State J! I'd also like to hear from the Upstate Detachment - Troopers John 'JC' Coleman, SngWrtr, JediCor, Jedi Master Eric, and Jedi Mike, in a decimating sweep and clear through the entire state. Begin Today. As for the saber-wielding hologram? Look no further than Sam Wheat (played by Patrick Swayze) from Ghost, who could even kick soda cans and move a penny up the vertical surface of a door!

“Running Twice as Fast to Stay in the Same Place” or “Keep on Huffin' ”

It’s always funny until someone gets hurt. And then it’s just hilarious.

Allentown Chase: KB Toys is sticking around in the Southeast PA quadrant and, to that end, the KB on the Salisbury-Allentown border received a large shipment of Boys Action Toys this week. Star Wars? You bet, the 2002 Collection 2 case featuring Geonosian Escape Mace, Geonosian Warrior, bearded Endor Trooper, Boba Fett (raincoat and rubbers), and Emperor's Royal Guard. With KB's getting newer assortments the past several weeks, I had thought the glut of encroaching warehouse mainstays from 2002 was over! All on sale for $2.99, except for the newer gold-bar releases. They also had a fresh case of Anakin's Jedi Starfighter, and the Episode II Deluxe platform has gone down to $2.99.

Subject suffers bouts of depression due to his homesickness for his home world of CtbertronTransformers Universe from the fine folks at Hasbro was also in stock and on special, with all Transformer purchases 25% off. Recolored Depth Charge from Beast Wars 1998 Transmetals 2 (season 3), and Tankor and Obsidian repaints from Beast Machines. It really seems troops that the people repackaging and repainting these have been trying to be more like the 1984 Transformers minicar rig - Huffer, because it would appear the paint has penetrated the olfactory region and caused a loss of brain cells. I also did mange to score the complete series 15 of Playmates' Simpsons Wos: Manjula, Octuplets, Deep Space Homer (BoShek disguise), Handsome Moe, Brandine, and Comic Book Guy from Saddlesore Galactica. Thanks to Tammy at EB Games at the South Crowne Mall for holding the General a MOC set. A printing error has been made on this series: “features Intellitronic™ Voice Activation*” instead reads “feature.” Next up is the Nuke Plant Cafeteria with Frank Grimes, now if they'd just do a variant on this one and include General Vaughn instead! Good luck out there in the badlands in your searches Troops! Adding scalpers' punched out teeth to my collection, and guess what? Ebay doesn't offer you deadbeat fools a dental plan!

No Apathy in the UK:
Putting UK Fans First! [Click to Enter]Our friends and chappies from the UK's The Private Universe have returned with news from the London Excel Toy Fair, read on.  “The UK Toy Fair was on in London last weekend. At this year's London Excel Toy Fair, Hasbro showed what is currently called the Original Trilogy Collection, a set of 12 figures based on the Original Trilogy in retro packaging but featuring modern figures. There are also a few ships being shown including a repackaged Millenium Falcon. On show was a prototype box of the Millenium falcon, the item looks identical to the PotF2 verson in new packaging. Very little to almost no time was spent explaining Star Wars, however it was better than G.I.Joe that got nothing new and no time explaining it.”  More

Sandtrooper J-Loud reports:
Dateline: TRU's “BIG” Sale Was Pretty Lame “Well, I went to TRU this morning with the anticipation of finding some new figs and it was a bust! I did manage to get the regurgitated Jedi 4-pack which I was happy about, but as far as any figs, forgetta' bout it! I grabbed my free fig which was a Hoth Rebel Soldier. Besides him there was 1 lone Achk-Med Beq and 7, yes, still 7, Jango Pilots, egads! Maybe troughout the promo they'll be getting some newer assortments but for a 1st day of the sale it was pretty lame in my neck of the woods (Upstate NY). I hope some other troopers are having better luck with this TRU promotion.

“Here's another good one: Auction 3173013532 on ebay. It's not so much the figure or the starting price, but read the description. I love how everybody has there own idea about rareness. He states only a couple of them were made, funny, I've found 5 myself but what do I know? Jason, I loved the Beyond Belief you did on the Leia Speeder! You guys know how to do your thing by making the offending sellers look completely foolish. I wonder how many sellers that are portrayed on the site ever run into themselves as the
Power Sucka or a topic on Beyond Belief when scanning the articles. Thanks again and take care.”

Thanks to you and all the Troops for pointing the scum out to us! That's what it's all about, we stay informed so you'll be informed! If anyone out there in Trooperland spots trouble on ebay, say it out "Loud" and turn the Suckers in! Begin Today.

Sandtroopette Lin Que Droma with Mutual of Omaha's Aisle Kingdom:
Scalpers Beware of Lin Que DromaDateline: Got Scalpers Dividing Like Nerds in a Calculus Convention “Lin Que with another Midwest report. Took a trip to the Council Bluff TRU and was greeted by the new 12-inch wave. I saw the Ewok, Luke, and Biker Scout. I grabbed the Biker Scout and left the rest. They also had the Boba Fett wave of Unleashed. I grabbed one for a friend but when I left there was one Boba Fett left, two Hans, and a Yoda. I also kicked the Jedi Warrior 4 pack again out of spite. Last week I put in a post about the Dooku and Mace Unleashed figs and I got a couple of replies. There are still six left: three Dookus and three Maces. The cards are not great (C-7.5 to C-8) but if anyone was on the fence about this don't delay! If someone wants one let me know!

“The TRU in Omaha, Nebraska had the Jawa and Ben Kenobi 12-inch figs. I went to Wal-mart yesterday and they were having a sale on their closeout stuff; I was able to grab a Lego AT-TE for 20 bucks. I was also able to get a hologram Luke and Lando Skiff Guard earlier in the week before I went to work. The Jabba's Palace wave didn't last long and when I came back after work they were all gone. Is it just me or do stores seem to be only getting one or two waves at a time and if you miss them you never see them again? Other than that things have been really slow. No Animated Clone Wars, no good LOTR Trilogy figs, and no Wal-Mart Manga Spawn. Take care. Got scalpers dividing like nerds in a calculus convention, cuz I school them and I after school them like detention. Lin Que Out.”

Sandtrooper Boba-Brett reports:
Dateline: Zero Retail “Hey Troops!  I stopped the other day during lunch at Target in Avon.  They had all the Animated wave 2.   They are pretty cool!  Also, they had 2nd Imperial Dignitary, Baby Jedi, Achk-Med Beq, Barriss Offee, Aayla Secura and maybe a few others.  Not very interesting I know, but when you took these figs to the scanner they came up as $0.00.  Anyone else come across this? Later Troops and MTFBWY!”
lbg2000@netzero.net

Brett, this situation is known as 'zero retail' and can happen after retailers complete the inventory process and items in their system that have been in-stock past a prescribed amount of time are given a $0 price. This is so that they may be pulled from the sales floor and returned to the vendor or shipped to closeout stores such as Value City. Beware Troops, because the clerk may not always let you purchase zero retail items. Contact the store manager if this happens to you!

Sandtroopette Donna reports:
The First Lady of Sandtroopers.comDateline: Armed with Nothing but a Magic Marker “Hey Troops, Donna from So Cal. Finally, something to report. TRU is the place to be for now. Between two TRU's, I was able to score the 12-inch Garindan and Obi-Wan, R2-D2 with tray, and R1-G4, and finally Unleashed Chewie and Luke X-Wing. Couldn't wait until Sunday's promo in case everything was gone. All my local Targets only have wave 1 of the animated figs. They have also restocked the Throne wave and Hoth wave. Wal-Mart and Kmart have nothing. Lastly, be careful if you purchase anything at the closing KB's. Upon purchase, they will use a permanent black marker and color over the UPC label to denote a final sale item. Happy Hunting to all.”
Theloneswlady@aol.com

It's unfortunate that closing KB's don't use an equally effective method of stamping your sales receipt, try requesting that as an alternative Troops if you're not crazy about a big black mess on your card. On the flip-side, too bad my local KB's, which aren't closing, don't use the marker technique to prevent scalpers from returning the figures they can't sell at the local flea markets.
