Happy Anniversary: What 30 Means to Me!
I FEEL 30!With the Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of A New Hope being the centerpiece of our entertainment this year, Staff member Dave Castle suggested we come up with something to show what this historic occasion means to us as a collectors. I can trace my collecting back to the very beginning of Kenner line and while I did take some teen-age/young adult years off, I can honestly say I'm right there in the trenches with all of you! What prompted me to take the spearhead for this mission was a stroke of luck just before Christmas. For more check out the entire story and if you have a similar experience please feel free to share it with us!

Goes down Souf!“DarthPharaoh again.... so soon! But things have picked up here in Atlanta. Both the Wal-Mart wave and wave 9 are starting to show up pretty solidly around here. Surprising, considering the amount of GB virus still dripping from most Wal-Mart pegs. But hey, why argue a good thing! Target around here has also had a smattering of wave 9 as well. Nothing much at TRU or KB though. Keep up the good fight! United we find!”

Sandtrooper NiubNiub Reports: CIV Donations
“I am excited that NiubNiub's Universe.com is to once again design and host the Celebration IV Diorama Workshop. This years theme is to create the Forest Moon of Endor. Each fan will create their own tree and Ewok Hutt. For more information you can visit my site's Celebration IV section... But as you know, a diorama really comes to life when you start populating it with the Hasbro figures. With an estimated construction of 200-300 trees on a table surface of 24 feet long X 16 feet wide, that will be A LOT of forest, and we're going to need hundreds of figures and vehicles to do it justice. One figure for every Diorama Builder to be exact.” Please click below or hit the forum for the

Will You Pledge Your Allegiance?
I plege my Allegiance!Timothy Zahn's new book titled Star Wars Allegiance tells of the events between Episode 4 and Episode 5. We find out how Luke is doing being a new Jedi, if Han really will help out, can Leia really run the rebellion while trying to figure out Han, and how Mara Jade plays a role in several events of this story. Not to mention we get a group of Stormtroopers who decide the only way to see justice done is do it themselves. Timothy sat down for an interview with Star Wars.Com to answer some questions about this very intersting new book. All of his answers as to what you can expect can be located at Star Wars.Com.

ESB Rated Third Best Sequel in Britain
ESB Rated Third Best Sequel in BritainStar Wars: The Empire Strikes Back was recently named the third best movie sequel in Britain, just behind Shrek 2 and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. I'm a little shocked that it didn't do better than T2 which came in second place, mainly because Jedi is an official religion in England, and with all those followers you would think ESB would have rated higher than the third spot. Regardless, I think it's fair to say that most Star Wars fans feel ESB is the best of all the Star Wars films, as well as being the best movie sequel of all time. Read more about this here.

How Would You Look in Obi-Wan's Cloak?
How Would You Look in Obi-Wan's Cloak? If you've ever wanted to see yourself in Obi-Wan Kenobi's cloak, the very same one that Sir Alec Guinness wore in Star Wars: A New Hope, now's your chance as it's going up for auction. The premier costuming shop in London, Angels Fancy Dress Costumes, will be auctioning off Obi-Wan's cloak and several other movie costumes on March 6th. It's expected that his cloak will sell for more than 60,000 pounds, so if you've been saving your money to spend it on something big this would be it. Read the full story here.

ACME Slave Leia Character Key Debuts at NYCC
As most of you now know, Acme has expanded their license from the Clone Wars animated series to the whole Star Wars universe meaning all 6 films. They have lots of cool stuff on the way, but wanted the first announcement to be a character key from the original trilogy. The Slave Leia key will debut at New York Comic-Con in February, but I am happy to let everyone know that it will not be an exclusive. It should be available on the ACME site the same day it is available at Comic-Con. The size will remain at 6" x 8" (the same as previous keys) and the price will remain at $30. The edition size will be 1000 pieces.

Sandtrooper Darth Pharoah Reports:
Goes down Souf!“DarthPharaoh here, been a while since I checked in but that’s due to the fact that there has been nothing to report until the last few days. Targets here have been getting the Ilum and Felucia BP’s. At this point though most seem to be still in the back and you have to hope you ask the right employee (nicely) if you can have one or two. The Geonosis and Dagobah BP’s have been found on Target shelves however. No Tantive sightings though. Wave 8 has been around but you have to look hard. TRU seems to be the best on this wave locally but Target has had them as well. Wally World here is pretty much a black hole right now. Most are dripping with the GB virus still. In fact just last week I saw a skid with 11 more cases of it.... yes, 11...no typo. But oh well, keep up the good fight. United we find!”

Unleashed Update: Wave 17
In what seemed to be a smooth strategy to find an excuse for the Unleashed line to fail, Wave 17 was released in October of 2006. Twice before the figures in this Wave had been offered using different card designs and receiving ample distribution.

Was this unintentionally done? Was it an awful market strategy to revamp rehashes? Pessimism aside, the unstable direction the line has taken speaks louder than words, feeling more and more like water testing to end something good. Its future is uncertain.

Read all about Walmart's exclusive Unleashed Wave 17 where an evil father and his good son are back for the third time as part of this line. Enjoy!

Forgotten Realm: Casting call for Chicagoland Area!
The dream that will become a reality. We all want to do it and someone will. What am I rambling about? Someone making their own Star Wars movie. Many fan films have been made over the years and the "Maker" has no problems with that, as long as money is not made from it. So, one lucky fellow will be making his own film about the events between EP3 and EP4. He has the Emperor signed on and the project is moving ahead on schedule....there will be nothing to stop him this time.

Force of the Bay: Kick Off time!
With the 30th anniversary officially in full effect, it was time to patrol the bay and see what the world of Ebay had to offer. For the record, I do a lot more looking than I do buying. That doesn’t mean I would not spend good money on the flick of a switch. It doesn’t matter if it’s looking through some other collector’s garbage or trying to break the bank. You might not find the Holy Grail but that won’t mean you won’t find something to quench your thirst. It was a time when they broke the mold as far as toy making was concerned; Star Wars brought the industry to a whole new level. Just stick to the original game plan of checking out feedback and no matter whom you deal with just try to make sure they’ve stayed in the lines. The best thing you can find are lots of old classics that take you back to that special place in time that started it all. If you misfire or they get out of range, do not worry, there will be another. Thirty years ago feels like yesterday, even though those of us who were children are now acquiring a vintage finish of our own! It’s a great thing we are in a hobby that could never rot, grow old or produce any type of foul stench. Remember Sandtroopers.com neither endorses nor authenticates any of the items featured here. Good luck to you Troopers in you searches, Kick A$% and take names!

Year in Review 2006: The Bomb
So big it took two extra days to finish! The best thing about the topic of history is the never-ending process of adding to it, and making new events for future generations. The year 2006 was no exception. The year Star Wars was supposed to “die out” or maybe loose some of its “force”. During the past couple years; we’ve documented the year in review. The past year has been quite a sandstorm and we do hope you Troopers have enjoyed it as much as we have. I would once again like to thank all of our sponsors, staff, affiliates and especially all of you great Troopers who make this website the special place it will continue to be.
