Dewback Patrol: One Man Star Wars Show
Hey Troopers, we have updated the Dewback Patrol Menu once again. This time I had the opportunity to attend the One Man Star Wars Show last night. With the upcoming show at Celebration III, I thought it would be nice to give the Troopers a sneak preview of this very humorous rendition of the Star Wars Trilogy. For weeks dustrho has updated us on this show and when he couldn't make it, I decided to take the Midwest Garrison on their offer to attend and interview Mr. Ross. Hopefully our enlisted men and women will pencil in a show time when Charlie performs in Indiana this spring. Until then check out the coverage and Keep on Sandtroopin'! United We Find.

Special thanks to Kathy Van Beuningen TK9989 and John "Sleepin' in the Dominicks Parking Lot" Duffy TK737 of the Midwest Garrison for any and all assistance.

Celebration III Badges
Celebration III BadgesAttending Celebration III requires you to be wearing a badge at all times, but that really isn't so bad with the new style of Celebration III badges. There will be a total of five badges with the following characters on them: Darth Vader, Padme Amidala, Mace Windu, Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi. If you are an adult you will have a badge with a realistic photo of one the five characters just mentioned (depending on what day you will be attending the show), but if you're a child you'll be wearing a badge with the Clone Wars Cartoon version of those characters. Not only will wearing a badge let staff know you've paid admission to the event, but it will also be used for hole-punching for exclusive items like the talking Darth Vader figure. And if you think these are cool enough to collect you can purchase the entire set at the Celebration Store. For more information go to the Star Wars Celebration III site and read the full article here.

Worldwide Release Dates for Episode III
EP3 Release DatesThe Official Site has announced the worldwide release dates for the upcoming Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. The movie will be released on May 19th in the United States and Canada, but some of the countries will be releasing the movie on a different day. Something that personally bothered me is that the movie will be released on May 18th in France, Switzerland and Uruguay. Don't you think it would be released earlier in the US and Canada? See the entire list here.

NEW Star Wars Micro VehiclesHasbro has recently announced another new toy lineup called the Micro Vehicles series. The packaging is incredibly detailed, with a picture of Darth Vader looming in the background, holding the toys in his hands, and molten lava is launching in the background. The packaging is very similar to the Revenge of the Sith action figure packaging, except this isn't in the same "bullet" shaped blister. Each package will come with two micro figures and two micro vehicles. These will be a Target exclusive, and are expected to be released in April. Deep recon from the Great Lakes state!“Troopers, I took to the streets once again in my determination to find all four Episode III Sneak Preview figures. My persistence served me well as I not only found the four figures, but multiples of the R4-G9 droid and an Animated Yellow Clone Trooper. While it took me stopping at several Wal-Marts and Toys R Us stores, I did prevail! No luck on spotting any Anakin Starfighters yet though. Star Wars Fan "Forced" to Leave
Star Wars fanatic Jeff Tweiten, who had been camping out for several months so he could be the first one in line for the upcoming Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, was asked to leave his encampment by law-enforcement officials. Tweiten was camping out on the sidewalk in front of the Cinerama Theatre in downtown Seattle, and unbelievably only one complaint filed against Tweiten. It wasn't a complaint saying anything bad about Tweiten, but he was in violation of the "no sit/no lay" city ordinance. He did inform the Seattle Post-Intelligencer that he would be coming back to wait in line, but this time he will be doing so on his two feet (standing). You can read the whole article here.

Sandtrooper Jedihawk Reports:
Texas S.C.A.L.P. Border PatrolHey there Troops. The anticipation is growing. I have read some reports of fellow troopers finding the ROTS Preview wave at retail. No such luck here in Central TX yet. But today as I was leaving my local TRU, the store manager pulled me aside. She wanted to show me some new Star Wars items she had in her office. Well of course it was the ROTS Preview wave. Nice looking stuff. The packaging is not as unpleasant as I was expecting. It?s actually OK. The figures looked pretty nice too. Excitement! Anyway she told me that she could not put them out until Feb 1st. So it seems TRU (mine at least) is holding to the Street Date. It seems that some Wal-Mart stores are not. But I think these guys will be pretty easy to get once they hit. So it begins... Now for the rest of the lot.

TRU - Other than my sneek peak, not much. A few of the POTC Cantina wave. Also a few VOTC and OTC 12-inch left among the stock. Lots of Jedi Council scenes. Falcons, TIE and X-Wings still there also.

Target - Remnants of POTC Canitna and Naboo. A few Unleashed. Lots of peg space. New Tatooine Galactic Heroes waves.

Wal-Mart #1 - POTC Canitna Wave. New Animated wave. A few stragglers from the clearance of OTC & SAGA figs. Galactic Heroes Tatooine wave. Unleashed Rehash Mace, Dooku & Vader.

Wal-Mart #2 - No basic figures. Some Animated Wave. Some Unleashed. Mainly empty peg space. They have lots of the Titanium Die Cast here.(those are a lot smaller than I thought.)

So that about sums it up Troops. The tension is growing for all of the new ROTS toys. I am still in need of a few items if any can help out. Cantina Set 2, OTC DV TIE Fighter.I have some things for trade. Drop me a email. Hunt'em Down Troops.”

Sandtrooper Darth25 Reports:
“Darth25 reporting in after spending 3 hours digging out from the latest snow storm to hit Central Wisconsin. The Wal-Mart in Wisconsin Rapids had full pegs of the Episode III Sneak Preview figures this morning. After purchasing my four there was still ten of each figure left for those in the area. The Teon Medon and Wookie Warrior figures are very nice. Disappointed in the packaging though. The plastic bubble is designed to clip around the cardboard and is affixed on the back of the cardboard with a lot of tape. The tape is of not very good quality and is peeling up at the corners and has air pockets under it. I sure hope this quality issue is fixed before April 2nd. Seeing these figures in the store also confirms my other fear that the OTC figures from #29 and up never made it to this Wal-Mart. Does anyone know why Hasbro/Wal-Mart suck at equal distribution of their product?”

“I missed the boat at Star Wars shop but was fortunate enough to pick up the Holographic Emperor at Federation Toys. It was nice to check off another Exclusive. Anyway, can anyone hook me up with some Clone Troopers? I?m aiming for 10, enough for a small task force- ARC and colored troopers need to in there, at least 1 arc and 2 colored, and they can be loose, but not played with very much or damaged with all their original guns and accessories. I don't know what I can trade you, but maybe an animated Arc Trooper (red) and an animated blue Clone Trooper (opened but not played with, only been on my shelf for a week or two) combined with an Unleashed Red clone trooper variant. Also, the Clone Troopers all have their original guns (the unleashed red one still has gun attached with original band). I am also looking for a Republic Gunship, if we can arrange something. This would help me very much, so please email if you have any Clones or an extra Gunship. Thank you!”

Sandtrooper Jetfire reports:
Deep recon from the Great Lakes state!“Troopers, after digging myself out of 12" of white powder, I braved the winter weather to make a toy run to some local stores in search of the new EIII Preview figs. After hitting a few Targets, Wal-Marts, and Meijers, I came up empty. Only things new out there were the new LEGO sets at my Toys R Us. Speaking of LEGOs, I did find the minatures AT-AT and gunship sets, which I had passed on when they first came out. That's it, but be assured I'll continue hitting the stores daily until I find those preview figs. On a side note, I'm looking for some Gentle Giant busts to trade for. Sandtrooper Jetfire out!”

Sandcrawler Visual Guide: Now Live!
Sandcrawler: That was Then, This is Now

Weathered and rusted by hundreds of sandstorms, slowly moving through desert dunes and dusty rocks, beaten down by twin scorching suns, the nearly twenty meters high, ancient Sandcrawler approaches. It carries within its huge interior, salvaged junk of all kinds, spare parts and metal processors. But most importantly, the vehicle holds prisons for hundreds of lost and thrown out droids.

Come take a look at Hasbro's latest rendition of the Jawa Sandcrawler and read all about the ups and downs this updated version of an old mold has to offer. Enjoy!

Exclusive Celebration III Action Figure Revealed!
CIII Exclusive FigureLucasfilm and Hasbro finally let the cat out of the bag and announced the identity of the Celebration III exclusive action figure. It should be no surprise that with the creation of Darth Vader in the Revenge of the Sith movie, that we would get an exclusive Vader figure. Lucasfilm and Hasbro take it to a whole new level by adding a special feature with a new dimension. Not only will Vader's physical appearance cast a shadow, but so will his voice. James Earl Jones takes to the mic again as the legendary voice of Darth Vader to record new phrases exclusively for this special CIII figure. Read more about this here.

Star Wars: Empire at War
The exciting new PC game from LucasArts, Star Wars: Empire at War, is expected to be out sometime in the Fall of this year. Even though LucasArts' website has released 13 screenshots of this game, the website gamesradar.com has released a total of 22 screenshots (some are the same as what's on LucasArts' website). You might want to Take a look, because this looks like the game we've all been waiting for. In some of the screenshots you can see some new vehicles that haven't been used in previous Star Wars games, such as the TIE-Tank. Hope you enjoy these screenshots as much as I did, and feel free to express your opinions in our forums.

Going Back in Time
Hey Troops, this is the start of a new section for me called "Going Back in Time." In this new section I will recollect something that happened here in the past, and what better way then to go back to Wizard World Chicago 2004? It was the first time that a lot of the staff members met face-to-face, and it was sort of the beginning point to a whole new experience here at Sandtroopers.com. Check out the photos, read the journal entries, and feel free to express your thoughts in our forums.

The One-Man Star Wars Trilogy
The One-Man Star Wars Trilogy"The One-Man Star Wars Trilogy has returned to Chicago, where last year his show was sold out throughout its duration. The man behind the show, 30-year-old Charles Ross (a Canadian actor), does a performance in which he squeezes George Lucas' original trilogy movies into 55 minutes, and the show comes complete with character impressions, key dialogue, sound effects and battle re-enactments. He is performing at Chicago's Apollo Theater through February 14 (Fridays at 10:30pm and Sundays at 6pm). For more information call (773) 935-6100 or go to his website.

Yours truly, dustrho, will be covering the show this Sunday night at 6pm, and I am hoping to bring back some great material to share with everyone here. I've been told picture-taking is not allowed, so I am not anticipating having any pictures of the event to share with people here.

So, stay tuned for more on this event.

    Sandtrooper dustrho Reporting In!
I stopped at the Toys 'R Us over by the Fox Valley Mall today, and they had quite a bit of stuff. Unfortunately it wasn't anything that I was really dying to get my hands on. They had lots of the OTC Millennium Falcons on sale for $54, Talking Darth Vader helmets, VOTC figures (Darth Vader, Lando Calrissian, Luke Skywalker, etc), Galactic Heroes (none from the latest Tatooine wave), all three of the OTC Cantina figures (Myo, Feltipern Trevagg and Dannik Jerriko), and lots of the OTC lightsabers. One thing that sparked my interest was this brand new item... it was a Talking Darth Vader bank! It was very cool, but the $29 price tag made me not purchase it. I'm sure it will be on sale one of these days, so I'll try to remember to pick it up then. That's all I have to report on, but until next time... United We Find!

    George Lucas Afraid?
George LucasThe man behind it all, George Lucas, is supposedly afraid that the upcoming Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith won't do as well as previous Star Wars movies, because ROTS will be so much darker and much more evil. Rick McCallum told the British movie magazine Empire, "When it comes to predicting grosses, George is absolutely mad. That's probably his way of dealing with the anticipation that any film can fail. But I think, really, truly, this film won't." Read the full article here.

K-Mart is ready for Episode 3.
Just wanted to inform all the troopers out there that it looks like K-Mart is the first store to actually be set up and ready for Star Wars Episode 3 preview merchandise. At one of the K-Marts on the south side of Indy I saw the following tags. SW Figures $6.99, SW E3 Preview $6.99, SW Clone Figs $6.99 (Clone Wars Cartoon), SW Preview Veh. $24.99, Unleashed $16.99, Mos Eisley Cantina $29.99, Rebel Speeder $19.99 (I believe this is the Lego Snowspeeder).

There was a Target near me that had all the shelf tags out about two weeks ago. As they were resetting toys for the second time the tags were taken down.

Sandtrooper Lin Que Reports: Marvel Legends wasteland
Aisle KingdomDateline: Scalper's heads are flying faster than Ronald serves two all beef patties with a sesame seed bun. “Went by the local TRU on Friday and saw that a truck came in. I ran inside and let out a sigh of pity, as the Marvel Legends rack was bare. I go to the customer service area and find out that the boxes will be put out Saturday. I call at 10:15 Saturday morning and inquire about ML 8. Yes we have them is the reply...but only 1 Captain America and 1 Storm. I got them both but the fact that ONE case came in and was either scooped or scalped in 15 minutes is frightening and frustrating. At least there are only 3 months until Episode III figs occupy my time. Not much in the Omaha area to report. Post-OTC wave sprinkled here and there, remnants of Clone Wars (the same figs from last year no ARCs, or Greivous and #$%^ where's my Obi Wan in Clone Armor). I have two favors to ask. I am looking for a VOTC 12-inch Boba Fett and the Transformer Energon Dinobot 2-pack. Any help would be appreciated cost plus shipping, trade, etc. If someone could hook me up I really appreciate it. Take care troops! On the Highlander tip cuz there can only be one; and scalper's heads are flying faster than Ronald serves two all beef patties with a sesame seed bun. Lin Que out.

    Sandtrooper Snipe Reports:
Revenge of the Sith Lego GameI found out some more about the Lego Star Wars game. As you may know, the game takes place in Episode one all the way to Revenge of the Sith. In the game you take the roles of roughly thirty characters and you can switch characters in the middle of the game. Each character has special abilties too. Like Amidala, for instance, has a grappling hook to get to otherwise unreachable places and R2-D2 can hack into computers. Bad part though, there is no talking, only strong facial features and body language. This looks like a really fun game.

Your affiliate at Star Wars New Zealand - Matt Glasgow - is a genius I reckon and such a big help. He is totally responsible for my site. I'm meeting the most amazing people in this Star Wars Universe. Mind you, the first thing that comes into my head when I think of Chris (Darth) Spice isn't Star Wars, I'm afraid...oh no. It's those fabulous double-decker Chicago pizzas he bought us SW guests, my mouth is watering at the thought!

Glad to see your personal website up and running. It will be a great way for the Sandtroopers to keep up on your convention appearances. In the mean time we'll keep the pizza warm here in the Windy City, until you return.

Force of the Bay: Right down to the last Second and Fire!
Hey Troopers, it may be cold in my neck of the woods but it?d have to freeze over completely before I gave up searching the world of ebay. The things you can find with patience and a mouse click. We thought it was an ankle grab for the Diamond Exclusive Sandcrawler? The original model is fetching a pretty penny these days. You thought grabbing that 12-inch OTC Boba Fett on clearance was the greatest deal? Perhaps you?d rather have the Six-Million Dollar Man eyehole instead! Whatever it is you desire, you?ll find whatever you need to weather the storm. Stand next to your fellow Trooper and we?ll help you make the transition together. United We Find, lace up your combat boots and we will take it directly to the enemy. The time for the kid gloves to come off has arrived and we?re not playing games anymore. Whatever the piece is you are searching the galaxy for, even ones that have evolved dramatically over the years. Maybe you are searching for some great custom work to add a little flavor to your collection, look no further. You can find the first issue or a true gem but always be weary of the jag-bag who is trying to sell something for three times what it?s worth. Check the feedback on each and every person you conduct business with and always be cautious. Remember Sandtroopers.com neither endorses nor authenticates any of the items featured here. Good luck to you Troopers in your searches, Kick A#$ and take names!

“Hello troops.... as I was (gasp) liberating my new Cartoon Network Clone Wars figures from their plastic prisons, I noticed that my ARC trooper only had one gun, in his right hand. By the way, belated farewell to Sandtrooper Jon. Michigan's loss is Boston's gain. Good luck out there.”

Jon is a great Trooper, and Jimsjedi is doing a fine job of setting up our East Coast S.C.A.L.P. Coastal Patrol! They will be just fine in Bean-town! Strength in numbers.

Area Report: It takes more than Sub-Zero to keep a Trooper down
Like Clint Eastwood, UnforgivenIt was an interesting search around Lake County, IL the last couple days. Target in Waukegan, IL had the Post-OTC wave one and the re-hashed Cartoon figures. I didn?t see the Darth Vader Sprinklers anywhere, although were there on my last trip through. The scalpers are way too thick around here, no $12 dollar Falcons as reported in Wausau, WI earlier in the week. In fact there were no Star Wars items left on the clearance racks. Toys R Us also had Post OTC, both waves minus the three new Cantina Aliens. Toys R Us in Gurnee did a good job of pushing their inventory out the door as well. I?m really looking forward to the onslaught of new product seeing it?s been kind of slow since just before the Holidays. Hopefully some of you are running into some new items and having better luck than I! Good luck to you all, United We Find.

    Sandtrooper Marcus Reports:
“Nice site troopers! I noticed the "most wanted" list and saw that I have an unopened Star Wars Battlefront Scout Trooper figure. I will gladly trade it for some Clone Troopers (ARC-red or blue, 3-packs, or the unreleased 4-pack super poseable Entertainment Earth exclusive Clone Trooper army builder set are all fine) because I love Clone Troopers, but I will accept General Grievous or a Dark Trooper once you get it. Basically, any groups of armored troopers will do, except Jango/Boba Fett. Willing to work out a deal for whatever is fair for both parites.”

    Sandtrooper Jetfire reports:
Deep recon from the Great Lakes state!“Troopers, after a long drought of empty pegs and VOTC Kenobi's, I finally have something worth reporting. The Holland Meijers filled 10 pegs with the new Animated Figures today! There were more than enough ARC Troopers and Clone Troopers to go around. They also had the Playskool Luke/Speederbike and the Galactic Heroes X-wing on the shelves. That's about it from my area as stores have been very slow since the holidays. Looking for some Gentle Giant busts or army builders to trade for if anyone's got some to spare. Thanks to those working on hooking me up with some of the POTJ vehicles. Sandtrooper Jetfire out!”

What's the Best Special Effect in Cinema History?
Star DestroyerSome people have asked, "What is the best special effect in cinema history?" With so many movies using digital technology to make special effects, it would be hard to narrow it down to one, as being the best special effect in cinema history. SFX Magazine recently ran a poll asking this question, and the winner of that poll was the opening scene from the very first Star Wars movie, Star Wars: A New Hope. The scene had the Imperial Star Destroyer racing to capture the Rebellion's Tantive IV. Read the full article here and share your comments in our forums.

    Republic Commando Preview at Gamespot
Republic CommandoGamespot has recently written up a preview for the upcoming video game Star Wars: Republic Commando, which is due to be released on March 1st. In this preview, Gamespot talks about Factor H, armor paint, and the variety of personalities amongst the different Commandos. Basically all clones are suppose to have the same personalities, but the Commandos started to show their own individual characteristics. Where the Kaminoans happy about this? Not at all. In fact, they were going to recondition the entire batch, but Jango Fett wouldn't allow the reconditioning of these "different" Commandos. If you want to learn more about Jango Fett's decision, read the full preview here and talk about this in our forums.

    The Wait Has Begun!
Long Wait for this GuyIn May of this year the final installment into the Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, will be shown in theaters across the country. Of course the wait in these lines will be long, just like it was for the previous prequel films, but one Star Wars fan is determined to be the first in line for ROTS. Jeff Twieden has setup camp out in front of the Cinerama Theater in downtown Seattle, and he isn't afraid of the freezing cold weather. He made the news back in 1999 when he and another fan camped out for months in the very same spot to see Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Read more about this here.
