Sandtrooper “Trooper Larry” reports:
It’s a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it. We like Transformers ’cuz they’re more than meets the eye, YEAH!“Hey Troops! Trooper Larry reporting with an area report from Mentor, Ohio. I caught wind of a toy and card show in the local mall, so I grabbed my modified blaster, biggest pair of SCALP kickers, and headed out. I was a little disappointed when I got there. There was only one of the local area Scalps that showed up. His prices seemed to be relatively lower than usual. Most of the figs he had were 6 bucks, but he did have a Silver Bobba for $30, Clone Wars Animated wave 2, for $12 each. The one that almost caused me to stomp him was an Ephont Mon for $30, but was the bigger man and walked away. I made sure he had seen the armor (Read: 'Sandtroopers T-shirt' - Ed.) though. The only other place I stopped was Target, and all they had was a lone animated Durge and it was beaten. Ill try TRU tomorrow with hopes that they've restocked for their sale. Keep hitting your Targets troops, the animated figs are out there, and make sure you show Scalpers what mud holes are really for.”

Sandtrooper Markus reports:
The Custom-Area“Here comes the first www.StarconstruX.de update in the year 2004 and it`s a big one! Finally we've opened our `Material Section!` In there you will find an overview about the materials we use, together with a short description. In addition you will find a section called `Tips And Tricks.` Here we give you some instructions that will help you to build your own dioramas. Both sections will be updated and expanded regularly. Hopefully this helps to answer most of your questions. Furthermore we have 14 new 360 degree turns from figures of Harald Flgge and more than 100 new snapshots of Markus Gerlach`s dioramas. And the last info: StarconstruX is guest at the German JEDI-CON 2004 (www.jedicon.de) with a big Diorama and Custom presentation and some workshops. So hurry up and take a look around, there`s a lot of new stuff to see! Thanks!”

Sandtrooper TPU Dean with the “Private Eye” Report:
TPU“We at The Private Universe thought it would be a good idea to let Hasbro UK know what Star Wars toys all the UK collectors are still searching for or are looking forward to buying in 2004. This should help Hasbro UK see what items should be made available in the UK. TPU has been in contact with Hasbro UK and they are willing to look at the results of all your wish lists. So it is important for all UK collectors to send in a wish list as the more results the better. The closing date for your wish lists is 31st January. Use the form to fill out your wish list.”

Sandtrooper Darth Zack reports:
“I went on a NW Indiana toy hunt yesterday, from TRU to Target. And unfortunately not much was happening. TRU had the Jedi 4 pack, and that was about it. KB had nothing new from the past year, Target was bare, Kmart was its usual pitiful sef, and Wal-Mart was the big winner. They had the Holo Luke wave, but only one set. They looked nice though, would recommend it to others. Only missing the new droid. That's it for freezing Indiana.”

Chicagoland Entertainment Presents: Collectors Expo
We have news on an event scheduled for September 10-12 2004. Chicagoland Entertainment Presents: Collectors Expo (formerly the Non-Sport Card Expo) will be held this year with a new name and a new venue. Building upon a 2003 sellout, this event will be bigger and better than last year! Many Artists and Entertainers will be there signing autographs all weekend. There will be six Star Wars guests in attendance. We will also co-host a Celebrity Breakfast featuring a Q&A with the guests and a Charity Raffle. This event will be held September 11th, 2004. We felt it best to announce this event early to allow our regiments to plan the voyage for a great day of Unity, fun and a chance to help out people who have a need greater than ours. We would encourage anyone in the area to come out and enjoy not only the breakfast but the entire day! Our Charity this year is The Treasure Chest Foundation. Please check the Collectors Expo website for details leading up to the event. We need your help to make this event a success! Saddle up the Dewbacks and plan to file in September 11th 2004!

NYHC“ Hi Troopers, Lisette from NYC reporting, although I don't have much to report. The TRU in Times Square had the same old stuff with the exception of the re-packaged Jedi 4 pack. New novel coming 2/3
Hey Troops, don't forget Timothy Zahn, the grandfather of the modern Star Wars novel, has a new one coming out next Tuesday. Survivor's Quest will tell a tale of Mara and Luke post-Thrawn Duology, but pre-Yuuzhan Vong invasion. It has felt like years since the last Star Wars book has hit the shelves, when in reality, it has only been a couple of months. Let's hope the post-Yuuzhan Vong era of Star Wars novels is even better.

Sandtrooper Jedi Hawk (aka Ahawk12) reports:
Trooper Hawk's Pro Scalper 4Dateline: Central Texas Reporting In   “ Well there is not much going on in Central Texas right now. My Target is down to restocking once a week again. And as of right now they have some Clone Wars Animated Wave 1, about 4 Hoth troopers, and a case of Ultra Wave 1 hanging on the pegs. All of that has been hanging around for a couple of weeks. One of my Wal-Marts has nada. They only have 4 pegs for SW stuff anyway. Those are crammed into the space for about half of an actual figure. But those pegs are empty and have been since they reset the toy section a few weeks ago. The other Wal-Mart is better. They have a nice section for SW stuff. Several pegs (let's say 10) are there for basic figs and some for Ultra (about 4) and the 3 pegs for the Unleashed. Also some shelf space for 12-inch. Right now they have an Unleashed Han and Boba, 12-inch Jedi Luke and Ewoks, and some Wave 1 Ultra. The basic figures are all from the first available figures from EP II midnight madness (what's going on?).

“ Anyway, on to my TRU where they have loads upon loads of the CW wave 1 and lots of other stuff that is getting ripe with age. They do have the newer Unleashed minus Yoda, the Jedi 4 Pack (read 'repack'), and some other things not worth mentioning. Figure-wise they have some of the last 2003 waves also. Not much to write home about. They have not had any new Star Wars stuff since the first week of January, so things are really slowing down now. Makes the hunting harder and more exciting when somethign actually shows up. Take care out there! ” - Andrew

Sandtrooper Tyler with Canada's ...

“ Hey Troopers, I finally managed to get a toy run in last Friday while on my way to Toronto to visit family. Gone are the days however when I would find figures from the latest POTF2 wave that didn't quite make it as far north as my home town of North Bay, Ontario. Here is what I found instead:

Orillia Wal-Mart: “nothing.

Barrie Wal-Marts: “nothing again.

Barrie TRU “ a couple Saga BD's (white), a few Arena Padmes and deluxe flipping Anakins, one deluxe Super Battle Droid Builder (which I picked up), and about a half a dozen 12-inch Maces on sale for $19.99 CAN.

“ There is still hope though. A friend of mine just called to say he found the Ultra figures at Zellers and picked up all 3 for me! Price was $15.97 each. There was only one C-3PO when he left. My Wal-Mart here finally got their toy department re-organized and they have set aside 3 pegs for SW figures which are expected to arrive soon. It's not much but at least we're getting some after over a year without any Saga figures. My only fear now is that we may be getting the Hall of Fame figures re-packs instead of the Hoth wave like they are getting in Western Canada, as there have been reports of the HoF figures being found in both Montreal and Burlington Wal-Mart's. I'll let you know what shows up here. Until then take care troops. ”

“ I am real music lover and audiophile. I was browsing at Kazaa.com for the God Father's Theme. The search gave me 34 results and I have downloaded, despite my 56K connection, 12 of them. After considering which was going to be the 'keeper,' I listened to all of them in every category. Guess what? I ended up burning on CD John Williams' version. I listened to every note, every sound nuance; definitely John Williams did not bring a 'Theme' from the God Father. I felt like I was listening to a composition, NOT a 'movie theme.' Don't believe me if you want, but be your own judge and download it before it's too late. I've been out of the Star Wars scene doing some cameos here and there, even on local Puertorican radio programs. I've been darn busy with my site but my Star Wars spirit lives within! ” - George Collazo

Thanks for the info Uncle George , and keep up the great work! I walk straight to the nearest Employee who Jedi-mind trick's herself into walking me directly inside passing all of the villainy, scum, scoundrels, scalpers of the worst kind, and your ebay ers and fellow Collectors, I share a smile as Disbelief sets in on those who are lucky to catch a visual of me on the Hunt (Thermal Detonator anyone?)!

7:45 AM “ I dart over to the section in question, only to find  ... Jack! Zilch, Nada! 'What a sad disappointment!'Ultra Wampa with Hoth Luke was as good as it got! No Unleashed, or 12-inch. I scan Marvel Legends - no Red Skull ('Thank you Santa!') or Apocalypse but Plenty of Blades with Movie Poster.

8:03 AM “ I pull back and watch all the madness of this store's virgin floors being violated by such Kaos! Variant Barbies, Wonder woman, Hot Wheel 2 Packs, Boy Wonder, and Dale with Sun Block's are just a few of the Bounties served! I swap cellies, grab my Variant Bledsoe and dash out the door.

8:15 AM “ I jump around the block into Fallbrook Target. 'Just footsteps behind' I head up the aisle to find Durge and Dooku straight out of the Clone War itself, A quick upgrade on site with fellow collectors and ... half the Bounty is accounted for.

9:15 AM “ I hit Walmart Porter Ranch - 'Bare as Siberia.'

9:30 AM “ Up the block Toys R Us proves fruitless. As I walk out of my last destination I'm approached by a McFarlane Die-Hard Scout. He walks me over to his vehicle to hand over CN Clone, Dooku, R2-B1, and, after a little sadness expressed, Yoda! Bye-Bye Drew, it was nice knowing you! How rough can it be? 'Seeking Bounties can be a lonely and draining job.' The most sought after Bounties of Yoda and Clone Trooper, with Durge and Dooku 'in hand.'

“ A Heads up to all you Troopers: hit your Targets daily and good luck on your hunts. Look out for Yoda, and Clone Trooper (the transformation begins!) are proving to be the hardest of all scores. A big shout out to John Coleman back East, and all the So.Cali Troopers for your assistance! Give me a jingle if interested in Jedi Luke wave, or CN Dooku or Durge. Still in need of Unleashed, 12-inch Ewoks, Scout, Yoda, and can use Red ARC Trooper as well as both Holiday sets. 'Aint no Sunshine shining through.' MTFBWY-ALL! ”

“ Ghost from KC here. Quick note, my fellow toy hunter Jangofly and I both found the Holographic Luke wave (Luke, Lando, J'Quille, and Rappertunie) wave at several Wal-Marts in the Kansas City area tonight. Thanks and keep up the good work. Do the world a favor: Smack a scalper in the head and maybe they'll get some sense knocked into them. Take names and kick scalper a$%. ”

Sandtrooper Brian Lustig reports:
“ I found the next wave of Clone Wars figures at Target tonight. If you liked the first wave, wait until you see these! No Yodas, but there was Dooku, Durge, and the Clone Troop. Way cool! On another note, I am e-mailing back and forth with Jedi Cor about a 12-inch Leia that I was able to find for him, and we've been thinking that it might be cool to try and have some sort of get together for the Sandtroopers.com vets at Celebration III. Do you think that this might be possible? I think it would be cool to put some faces with all of these names that I've become pretty familiar with over the last few years. Anyway, just some food for thought. Let me know what you think, I'd be willing to help out since I'm right here in Indy. ”
BrianLustig@prodigy.net

We are drawing up battle plans for Celebration III on a daily basis. It is never too early to plan and for sure there will be a S.C.A.L.P. party somewhere, where did you say your house, Brian? Dewbacks to the right, kegs to the left! Stay tuned Troops.

A Public Service Message from Sandtroopers.com
About two years ago Darth Crypt assembled a squad of crack-commandos to assist him in tracking scalpers across North America. He needed a few good men to lead the charge against evildoers and first selected Steve Hart to chronicle the history of Star Wars Novels as they were released. This helped readers cope with the troubles of day-to-day action figure collecting. A good book is always better than a movie but he needed more firepower. It was getting nasty, the main reason Darth Crypt was conjured up was to handle these problems, handle them he would. Crypt enlisted (then) Captain Jason for his brilliant military mind and strategic skills. Captain Jason quickly soared the ranks to become General and Field Commander and enlisted the help of C.W.O. Spiceowan and First Officer Sandtrooper Dan. Together they would spearhead a global invasion and lead the S.C.A.L.P. Troopers and the movement. Together they would help collectors fight the villains that try to take the fun out of collecting by scalping, card bending and being flat out jag-bags. If you have a collecting problem, and you can find them, perhaps you can hire THE J-TEAM!! Send in your news, we'd love to hear from New Recruits. So if you are one of the thousands who view daily but never write in, what are you waiting for? What you have to say could help someone else, begin today! Send in Store Reports, Sucka Sightings and Beyond Belief reports to news@sandtroopers.com.

Whether in the A-Team Van or an ambiguous non-assuming wood-paneled station; by Land, Sea, or Air, S.C.A.L.P. never gives up, they’re always there!

Force of the Bay: Stick and Move
Hey Troops, I may have to trade my Dewback in for a Tauntaun if this snow keeps falling. It's a great time to scourge ebay. So if you would, sit back and enjoy another story. You may come across the first Ultra figure. It is possible to locate millions of one of a kind items. It is real easy to find things that make you very upset, why ruin a treasure like that? No doubt an early scalper trying to score as many mail-ins as possible. You never know what type of time capsule you could find. What a piece of junk. Is this real? A dangerous place ebay is, you may want use past e-buyers as a reference. Work the feedback angle and find the light that shines in the darkness. Try avoiding scalping jag-bags like this week's Power Sucka! That sorry %$#@&^% should be put down for da count! Conduct solid feedback checks on people you do business with. Sandtroopers.com neither endorses or authenticates the items featured here. Good luck to you Troops in your searches, Kick A$% and take names.

Sandtrooper SoCal Jedi Dom Reports:
Dom, of Dom and Dommer“ Just thought that I would write and let everyone know that like most of you, I have not found a thang out here in the sunny tundra of So Cal. Zip, zero, zilch, nada! So don’t feel like you are the only one.

“ I wanted to send a shout out to two fellow troopers: Jedimaster-C and trooper Alfred Orozco for landing me an Acklay and the new R1-G4 wave respectively. Great troopers, a great help in finding me a few things to fill up my collection.

“ Also, with regards to Spice's info on Amazon.com, take the advice he has mentioned. I have had many an unpleasant experience, mainly with 3.75 inch figs. I don’t think I have ever received one in C-9 condition or better, always a crease, dent, ding, bend, or a crushed bubble, yep, a crushed bubble! Though they have been kind enough to refund me for SOME of the items, it has gotten to the point of it not being worth it. So buyer beware! Good luck all. Anyone help with the 2nd wave of Animated figs? C-9+ or better? E-mail me. I can maybe help out with something you may need. ”

Dateline: Another Pass on the Toys 'R' Us Jedi Pack   “ Hey Troops. Trooper Larry reporting from the Mentor, Ohio front. I made my usual run over the weekend, but walked away empty handed. Wal-Mart in Mentor has yet to restock. K-mart still has 2002 wave 1 figures, and a few droid launchers. TRU had the Jedi four pack, but I had to pass on it. I might pick it up if the Silver Clone is released as rumored, but otherwise, I foresee it warming the shelves for awhile. Wal-mart in Strongsville has the bar wave lingering, but nothing else. Target in Strongsville has yet to restock. That’s it for this report troops. 'Til next time, break scalpers off a little sumthin' sumthin' ”

Sandtrooper Oozark reports:
Dateline: Did Any of the Black Skirt Version Make it to the Pegs?   “ Was the red ARC with Black Skirt ever found on the pegs? Curious, I was looking at my Red ARC Trooper, and remembered seeing a picture of a loose variant having a black skirt, instead of blue. I started doing some digging again for photographic proof, and found the loose comparison, red version carded, and both carded variations. It appears that the corrected red ARC has a dark grey skirt (in hand), opposed to the transition blue-grey skirt from the value packed ARC. But the loose pre-realease shots clearly show the red ARC wears a black skirt. Did any of the black skirt versions make it to the pegs?

“ I realize I'm probably barking up the wrong tree here, as a few of you are still looking for a Red ARC Trooper, but does anyone have an extra with the black skirt variant? Both of mine have the gray skirt, and I would love to trade one for the black skirt variant. Please let me know whether anyone can help. I am also still in search of a Deluxe Kamino Showdown Obi-Wan if anyone has an extra for trade or sale. Peace and happy hunting to all in the new year! Sandtroopers rock. Oozark out. ”

My Wal-Marts seem to be caught in reset limbo with a lot of empty space where stuff is supposed to go. Last week on my trip to Iowa I returned home disappointed. A stop in Carroll, Iowa showed me 2002 Saga figs so if anyone wants a Captain Typho or Coruscant Disguise Anakin, there you go. I did see the remains of the Batman Killer Croc wave, no Croc, of course. Has anyone seen the Wal-Mart exclusive Spawn Figs? I am willing to buy them if someone were to pick me up a set. I currently work in what's left of Zany Brainy and the 'Auctions' of the Star Wars displays has me even more disgusted, the company running the auction does not even own the displays or fixtures. The money made from these is going to further line the pockets of the scoundrel share holders who have already cashed in. Now I'm not saying they should not be sold, and I'm sure if they were given away at store level they would have ended up on ebay anyway. Or email me, and if I recognize you and think you're honest I'll tell you where they are... That's about it for now! MTFBWY! S.C.A.L.P. UNITE!!! ”

Milwaukee, WisconsinDateline: Scalpin' Scum Will Do Anything to Make a Buck   “ News from the south of Wisconsin. Nothing. As in after stopping at six stores I saw one clone wars Obi General, nothing else figure-wise. I did see something that upset me though. You know how Target puts the little red clearance sticker on their clearance stuff? Do you think that it's odd to see these items on Wal-Mart shelves for regular price? I would have been happy to purchase that Hailfire Droid or Geonosian Fighter Lego at clearance. Scalpin' Scum will do anything to make a buck. Fight the Good Fight! ”

I think we know what's been implied here Troopers. Scalper profit-sharing continues unabated while real collectors are treated like the bad guys by the clerks at many of these retail stores, while they are the very people often in cahoots with these get "Rich" quick toy hoarders. Time to take back what it ours Troops, Begin Today.

Target in Wausau, WI:
I know this is starting to sound like a broken record, but I ran to Target this morning, and discovered they had yet more new figures. I just love this store these days. I was able to score the new Jabba's Palace Luke Skywalker, R1-G4 droid, and R2-D2 wiff drink dispenser. They had more, so if you live in the area snag these up before they disappear. That is all from the Northwoods of Wisconsin, where we have been very lucky finding the new figures. Good luck on your hunts."

... and knowing is half the battle.Dateline: Do You Hear Those Crickets?   “ Do you hear that, the crickets? That's what all of the toy aisles I have been to are like. Nothing at all. I have found clearance items at Target stores but no where close to the prices I have seen reported. Thank God for the trades section where I have been able to fill some voids in my collection. I still have 1 set of the 4 Animated figures I would like to trade toward some of my current wants. Please take a look at my list and let me know. Some items I need are the 12-inch Bikerscout with speederbike, 12-inch Saga Bikerscout, and a Death Star Clash Vader. Let's work something out. ”

Force of the Bay: Ying to the Yang
As a follow up to the Suckathon I decided to show you the many more reasons to use ebay to your advantage. You have someone put an item like this at five dollars and you get eight bids to crazy amounts of loot, you earn your money. You didn't sit at the Wal-Mart cafe and wait for the toys to come by on a pallet. If you are creating something and selling it at a decent price, my helmet is off to you. If you need the bay to find your vintage treasures so be it. That seller had all four vintage Cantina Aliens, talk about a potential clean-up! It is also a great place to find some a$% kicking custom work. Again you are not buying the whole stack, someone making something and offering a product not available right now. It is all there for the taking, whether it is nearly thirty years-old or not, you will find it just like new. Any game you wish to play, any old relic you may think you'd never see again. You'll see it. Use ebay with caution, research the people you do business with. Sandtroopers.com neither endorses or authenticates any of the items featured here. Good luck to you Troops our there, Kick A$% and take names!

Force of the Bay: The Suckathon
Hey Troops, I just got back from the party at Docking Bay 94 only to find enough crap on ebay to have another Suckathon. I'm going to show you why many collectors hate scalping slime that buy something they think is a tough find only to jack the price through the roof. Many times you come across some jag-bag that thinks everyone owes them ten dollars for stopping at K-B Toys. People like this make all of us sick. If you think about all the fuel they have to put in the pick-up they are probably losing money. Note the seller name, and I encourage SoCal S.C.A.L.P. Troopers to be on the look-out. I don't own these, but I am dying for them to show up on clearance at Value City too. I am sure they will see the shelf at some point and time. If not it is really only one figure that we do not own anyway. For all of you who did not pick one up for clearance price, it makes it easy to leave crap like this alone! Let them have all 15 of them Leia on Speeders. We have to unite and stay away from punks like these. Help each other Troops and don't give in to the temptation of the Dark Side. These Suckas did and may they all have to get real jobs to save up for that double-wide. Got a Sucka? Send 'em in to C.W.O. for a tribunal here at Sandtroopers.

Is Hasbro still making these?Dateline: Cartoon Network Figs in Abundance  “ Just a quick update. I got to spend the weekend in Mantica and found the Cartoon Network figs in abundance at the local Target. Wal-Mart had nothing at all but it looked like they were gearing up for new stuff. The Wal-Mart in Tracy had some old figs , but the surprising thing was the 12-inch Yoda and Luke. That’s all for now. MTFBWY. ”

Dateline: Clearance Wars  “ Hey Troops, just thought some of you may want to 'stay on Target' and check out the Clearance Wars that are going down at the bullseye. I scored Anakin, Luke and Vader Throne Room, Snowtrooper, and Han Hoth all for a whopping $1.18! It's about time we got a little back for years of overpaying. ”

Beyond Belief: Sandtrooper Fact or Fiction, Episode 3.01 “Oddities in the Box”
Within this hour...
Background: In May 1997, the famous words, “Within this hour we will tell you five stories, some real, some fake, you decide. Your call” could first be heard. In 2002, General J of Sandtroopers joined the ranks of James Brolin and Jonathan Frakes to bring you “Beyond Belief - Fact or Fiction ...”

I can't tell from just the photos, but I'm finding this one kind of hard to swallow. Are they cooking my goose?
“All I can tell you for sure is that the doll is wrong and it is exactly as I purchased it!”
Was I supposed to believe it? Even if I did entertain the idea that they were telling me the truth, it still wouldn't prove anything to me. Custom builders have been doing it for years. A plain thief looking to make a quick buck could do it too.
“I believe this doll was placed in the box at the factory! The hands are tie wrapped to the handle bars. The legs are tie wrapped to the speeder bike with another wrap around the torso. The uniform is worn exactly as the normal figures in the other boxes. This box was one of four boxes purchased at a TARGET store. When I got the items home, I noticed that the doll in this box had red hair under the speeder helmet!”
Now bells were going off. Why would someone with honest intentions buy four of these (unless they were on a S.C.A.L.P. Mission, scoring some for fellow Troops for cost, and even then, who would arbitrarily purchase four off the shelf without scrutinizing both package and figure?).
“No one else other than a factory worker did this swap! This is the first edition error Star Wars Leia on Speeder Bike.”
If you want to see what a real moron's auction looks like, then check out this poor fool's. Some people are just useless.

So, is it really an oddity in the box? Or did the hummingbird let the cat out of the bag? The solution at the end of tonight's episode.

Sandtrooper Jedi Dom in the Woods of Wisconsin reports:
"Troops, the scoop here in East Central Whisky is that the local Giraffe Palace had lots of new figs including R1-G4, Jedi Luke, Hoth Han, bloody face Luke, waiter R2, and many others. They also had the Jedi 4-pack which I left sitting there to get dusty. I agree with recent comments on the repacking of these figs. I also passed on the 12-inch Jedi Luke. I have the old 12-inch Jedi Luke and I don't see enough of a difference. Still no sign of the Wampa or that piece of worm-ridden filth." - Jedi "Still Shovelin' Snow" Dom
