FRIDAY, AUGUST
4
I departed my home in Indy around 1:30pm just after I ordered my
SideShow Leia Boussh doll. Having packed the night before I figured
I would be in Rosemont by 5pm. How wrong I was…
When I got up to West Lafayeete (home of Purdue University) I got
stuck in construction traffic for over an hour. When I got through
my drive continued and just before I got to Merriville, IN. there
was another halt in traffic. This time it was due to a car accident.
So I spent just over an hour sitting in my vehicle just wanting to
make it to the convention to pick up my badge before they closed.
I finally arrived in Rosemont after 6pm (Chicago time). To late to
pick up my badge so I met my group of friends at the hotel and had a
few drinks and mingled for the evening then hit the hot tub.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 5
Saturday morning I woke up and went across the street to pick up my
badge.
After my group finished eating breakfast and such we decided on what
to do.
In case you do not know my group of friends like to costume. So
Erica (the PVC Super Girl and Black Canary), Terence (Scarecrow) and
I (dressed as Black Panther) went to the convention. Of course many
people wanted pictures with us. Love to see the people smile. Hey,
if you are one of those people who took pictures of us PLEASE
e-mail a copy to me.
Unfortunately none of us thought of bringing a camera to the
convention to take pictures of us while in costume. So if you could
send me a picture that would be most appreciated.
So we costumed until sometime in the afternoon or so. We went back
to the hotel to change so we could walk around as normal people and
enjoy ourselves.
Like any Wizard World it was all the same stuff along with new toys.
Got to see the Toys-R-Us AT-AT and some other newer toys.
I found Jim and Federation Toys and talked with him for a bit. I
then took out one of my custom collages for Doug Wangler (Quinlan
Vos) to sign. He liked the collage very much and of course from
learning from the past I always have a second copy for the person to
keep. Jim wanted one but I told him no that I only make one for
myself and one for the person who is signing. That way I have a
special autograph in my collection that nobody else has.
So the rest of the day my friends and I walked around seeing the
demos, talking to people, promoting ourselves as we could, etc. Went
back to the hotel and sat in the hot tub for a while.
Later that night one of my friends and I met up with an elderly
couple who we met earlier at the convention and at the hotel. We
helped them out with some stuff and then later we partied with them,
drank, ate some pizza, talked, had some fun. They may be older but
they know how to have fun like some of the younger crowds. Hello
Kat! I had a great time.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 6
Woke up and went over to the convention. We basically just walked
around and partook in the demos just to get some free items. I am
not into games but from the makers of Hero Clicks they have a new
line of Horror Clicks that I may start to collect. Really cool s4!t
for a horror fan like me! Almost bought the cthulhu statue that is
about a foot tall but passed on it. I have decided I will get one at
GenCon Indy. That way I would not have to haul it home.
Spent some time in the Artist Alley saying hello to some friends and
making new ones. Hello Stewart! Did get to meet the guy who played
the “Lolli Pop Kid” in the Wizard of Oz. A really nice gentleman and
learned some stuff about the filming of Oz. Over the two days I was
at the convention I did pick up some toys and items to add to my
ever growing collection. After I said my goodbyes to my friends who
I will not see until DragonCon in September I drove home.
Well it is late and I am going to bed. Please if you attended Wizard
World and took any pictures of myself as Black Panther or my friends
PLEASE e-mail me a copy to
syczylo@comcast.net.
Thank you and see you at Wizard World in 2007.
