WHEN CAN WE GET IN? So, with that information, Wayne and I waited around until it was time for us to go in. As 9:00 arrived we started heading toward the entryway, and were stopped dead in our tracks by this very rude security guard. He told us that press are given no special treatment of having earlier access to the showroom floor, and said we would be allowed to go in at 10:00am. We were just a little irritated by that information, but more irritated because of the way he handled the situation. Since there wasn't anything we could do about it we just waited by the entryway. Time went by slowly, but 10:00 showed up and we got ourselves ready to invade the show. We were yet again stopped by staff members of the show, and said we couldn't go in until 10:05 since there was another line of people to get in just a little earlier than the rest of us. Should five minutes have been a big deal to us? No, not really, but when you've been waiting around since 7:30am five minutes meant a great deal to us. It was just after 10:05 when they finally let us into the show. About damn time! WORKING THE
FLOOR After getting our tickets it was time to continue our shopping spree. About an hour later Wayne found himself a $15 vintage AT-AT that was in pretty good condition. This hell of a steal was missing the chin guns, side guns, top driving compartment lid, and side door panel, but overall the AT-AT was in pristine condition. I was incredibly jealous of him picking that up, but since he did not have an AT-AT in his collection it was cool that he ended up with that. And speaking of great vintage deals... Pat scored himself a nice vintage Rebel Transport for something like $10 (if I'm not mistaken). It was missing just a few pieces, but like Wayne's AT-AT it too was in great condition. Throughout the day I was able to pick up some fairly good deals: five vintage Biker Scout figures for $25, two Microman figures from 1992 for only $5, and a few other miscellaneous items. But the deal of the day for me had to be the Kotobukiya Darth Maul that I snagged for only $60, where I've seen this figure sell on eBay for well more than $100 a piece! All in all it was a very good day to do some serious shopping! SPICE IN ARMOR Let me tell you that Spice looked cool as hell in that armor! He looked like he was born to wear that armor, and it only makes sense wear Sandtrooper armor since he owns Sandtroopers.com. While walking around on the showroom floor, lots of children and grown-ups wanted their pictures taken with him. When you thought you could go from point A to point B in what should have only taken say five minutes, it took 20-30 minutes with everyone asking for pictures with him. He did a really good job with the children, and even kids who normally would have been afraid of people in Stormtrooper outfits they were quite calm and relaxed with Spice. MEETING UP WITH
STEVE SANSWEET
Later in the day Steve did a wonderful presentation in one of the exhibit halls, and talked about Star Wars to thousands of eager fans who wanted to hear about the future of Star Wars. Steve went into detail about upcoming video games ("Battlefront II" and "Empire at War"), behind-the-scenes video footage of "Revenge of the Sith," upcoming television projects (live action and animated TV series), and more. If you were lucky enough to have made it to Celebration III in Indianapolis in late April this year, you really didn't miss a whole lot.
SUMMARY Steve, the staff at Sandtroopers.com would like to thank you for your time and generosity on Friday. We do hope that you had another great Star Wars experience here in Chicago, and we look forward to what the future of Star Wars has to offer its fans. Thank you again! PHOTO GALLERY
