Story by Chris Spice (Darth Spice)

Hey Troopers, I had an opportunity to infiltrate the Transworld’s 21st National Halloween, Costume and Party Show in Rosemont Illinois. With some help with friends in the Midwest Garrison I was able to attend this show that isn't open to the general public. I had a chance to see some of the latest and greatest in Halloween EVERYTHING!

It was the entire Donald J. Stephens Convention Center decked out in everything Halloween. There were rows and rows of costumes, paints, and accessories. There were also tons of items for haunted houses, anything and everything to scare the crap out of you next year. I was in awe of the price tags on some of the displays.

However, the real treat of this mission was the Rubies booth, where members of the Midwest Garrison were on duty to draw attention to all of the Episode III costumes that will be for sale this year. Clone Troopers, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Emperor Palpatine, Mace Windu, Wookiees you name it, they are making it.

There ware also 3 huge busts that will be limited edition. The Yoda will be limited to 5,000 pieces and there are two of Darth Vader, one Silver limited to 500 pieces and the traditional Black limited to 5,000 pieces as well. It just makes the anticipation that much more difficult to deal with seeing the onslaught that is only beginning.

Lucasfilm officials dispatched the Midwest Garrison to promote the Rubies line and I must say they did a magnificent job drawing attention to the booth. There was even a real Darth Vader costume and C. Andrew Nelson, who played in the Special Edition Empire Strikes Back as well as any other ad you’ve seen Darth Vader in since the late 1990s. Overall the most impressive Darth Vader suit my eyes have ever witnessed. I was really impressed with the effort they are putting into the Revenge of the Sith Merchandise.

It was an added bonus to see all of the Batman merchandise that is due out with the new film. From the Rubies products, Elvira Mistress of the Dark, to Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister I can honestly say it was a day of great interest for this Sandtrooper!

We’re counting down the days until Celebration III next month. Hopefully this will be enough to hold some of you over! United We Find!
