SIDESHOW COLLECTIBLES
Sideshow Toys was definitely the appointment I was looking forward to the most going into today’s round of Toy Fair action. And the booth certainly did not disappoint.

While there were no “secret” projects revealed (Scott said they are waiting for Celebration IV and SDCC to let those out of the bag) a few new items that we’ve heard about, but not actually seen in person, were shown for the first time.

Real Action Heroes (RAH) figures for the ROTS Clone Trooper and ESB Boba Fett were on display. These figures are really nice looking, even with the price points up there in the $130 - $150 range. The only one I’ve got so far is the Stormtrooper, but if these two are anywhere near the quality of that one, these will be worth every penny.

The next figure in the Vinyl Collectible Dolls (VCD) line was also on display – the Emperor’s Royal Guard. This line of dolls is quickly becoming one of my personal favorites, for it’s distinctive anime-inspired style.

The next two Premium Format figures were also on display in all their glory. Both the Boba Fett and the Darth Maul are very impressive. The facial features on the Darth Maul are downright disturbing. It looks like every minor detail on both of these figures was looked at over and over to make sure that everything is right. And both figures look incredible in person. I can’t wait to get my Boba Fett.

The 12” line was also well represented. Asajj Ventress, Leia Boushh, Plo Koon, the Endor Soldiers, and the Bubo creature pack were all on display. As with the rest of the 12” line, these all look top notch. The Endor Soldiers especially look amazing, with all the little bits of gear and accessories that each one carries.

The first in the newest line of Sideshow products, the diorama line, was also on display. Featuring the penultimate battle between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar, this diorama was very impressive. Weighing in at around 14” long, and standing around 9” – 10” tall at its highest point, this piece carries a retail price tag of $280, and is limited to 2000 pieces. Scott told us that we can expect these dioramas to range from the $60 to $350 range, depending on the size. They will mostly stay within the 2000 piece limit as well.

Unfortunately, none of the upcoming exclusives were shown, or even hinted at, at Toy Fair today. But even though there were no “secret” projects revealed, the Sideshow booth was definitely the best stop on our little Toy Fair Tour this year. Sideshow is making some of, if not the best, Star Wars products available today.
