For years the Steel City Con has been a staple in the Pittsburgh community for pop culture and science fiction. The weekend event was traditionally held in Monroeville, PA but due to the closing and eventual demolition of that facility, the event has been moved to the Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena. With a new spacious location, there is no doubt this will continue to be a point of interest on our Dewback Patrol map. With 90,000 square feet and free parking, there is plenty of room for expansion. With no parking fees, we can see they are staying in the tradition of keeping this show very affordable for its guests.

This year the show has several guests from Star Wars. There could be no bigger than Ray Park (Darth Maul) who is always a pleasure to spend some time with. Fans could also meet Daniel Logan (Boba Fett A.o.t.C.) who also knows how to have a good time. There were even some of the more obscure characters like Cellheim Annujo (Dean Mitchell) for the die-hard autograph hunter. As nice of a guy that Dean is, it is really too bad his scene ended up on the cutting room floor.

There was a lot more than just Star Wars this time around. The International Wrestling Cartel (I.W.C.) was on hand to produce some live entertainment for the crowd. Other guests included: Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), Richard Kiel (James Bond), Lou Ferrigno (The Hulk), Bruno Sammartino (W.W.F. / W.W.E.) and many more. The bottom line on this show is an incredible value. If you purchase the weekend pass, you might just end up with more valuables in your goodie bag than your cost of admission. If you are in the area, I'd suggest you attend for at least one day. Otherwise you never know what you could be missing! United We Find.
