SANDTROOPERS LOCKED AND LOADED FOR SDCC 2007
We are in the middle of summer and that only means one thing. It's time for the San Diego International: Comic Convention!! This year's event will be held from July 26 - 29. If you plan on attending, tickets are still available, but are going fast at the SDCC 2007 main site. To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars, Friday has been officially declared Star Wars day at SDCC. Convention goers will get an opportunity to receive a souvenir program book Star Wars cover by Adam Hughes. Obviously there is plenty to do and see.
Friday will be filled with lots of panels focusing on Star Wars. A few of these include discussions on Star Wars books, new items from Hasbro, 25 years of LucasArts, sets and toys from Star Wars Robot Chicken, as well as 30 years of Star Wars! Expect exciting news from Friday's coverage. Let's not forget the always exciting Star Wars Fan Club Breakfast on Saturday morning.
San Diego Comic-Con is not short on Star Wars Exclusives this year. Some of these range from the very cool to the kind of quirky. Acme Archives come at us this year with a fantastic character key of the Sandtrooper. While Action Figures Express is brining a Holographic Darth Vader Bobble Head. We're not done with Bobble Heads just yet because Entertainment Earth has a 501st Bobble Head and Funko will be selling a Shocktrooper Bobble Head. Gentle Giant comes to Comic-Con with three Star Wars items. Commander Cody is the main item from their World Tour, but he isn't alone with the Animated Yoda/R2 Maquette & Han/Luke Bust ups touring as well.
Sideshow Collectibles continues their 1:6th line with a special exclusive of Darth Sidious as a Hologram on the Mechno-Chair. That’s not the only item the folks at Sideshow are bringing. They are helping out Medicom by distributing the VCD Blackhole Stormtrooper. The folks at Hasbro have three items; one of which must be highlighted. The McQuarrie concepts continue at Comic-Con with the Obi-Wan/Yoda two pack and the EU gets a little love with the Stealth Scout. The coolest and most special item at the show will be in honor of a Katie Johnson who passed away two years ago from Brain Cancer. Last but not least are the folks from Kotobukiya who are adding another Clone to their line with the Utapau Clonetrooper and they are bringing over another Kiriko glassware to the states.
SDCC 2007 is held at the spectacular San Diego Convention Center on the harbor in downtown. The sun and weather from this Southern California oasis is expected to be enjoyable for troopers descending on this conference.
