YOUR COURSE FOR PLANET COMIC-CON!
It's that time of the year again for me. Time to focus on the upcoming
convention season and how I want to attack each show. First up is a local show for me and really a gem of an event
that I've attended for many years: Planet Comic-Con. So needless to say I was ready to get to the convention center and take a look around. Star Wars was
well represented once again with a couple of names that I'm sure fans will know in Billy Dee Williams (aka Lando Calrissian) and Jake Lloyd (a.k.a. Anakin Skywalker). I was there this year to see Mr. Williams come in for his panel and man was that room packed! He entered to the Star Wars main intro music and talked for several minutes. A few of the other guests at Planet
Comic-Con this year were Edward James Olmos, Adrienne Wilkinson, Felix Silla, and Kansas
City's own Blair Butler.
Collectibles galore were
to be found this year with what seemed like even more booths selling items both new and old. Heck, there were multiple booths selling high end items ranging from Marvel to Star Wars which is great if you collect those items. One booth that I always look forward to that has a ton of vintage figures from various lines was back this year and I had a blast going down memory lane. Now, if
you're like me and are also into art prints Planet Comic-Con was a major hit again with some really great items. About half of the show this year was filled with prints or people selling exclusive comics, which I love seeing. Again, this year I was able to pick up some pretty awesome prints and sketch cards, which made for great buys. Cat Staggs was selling her art work which is among the best you will find, but I was out of money sadly by the time I found her booth.
Planet Comic-Con 2012 was really freaking awesome! As, I said the panels this year were really cool and having more of them was a great addition and seeing all the toys and art was really fantastic. The best part for me was having my folks with me and my mom asking if it was ok to get a couple pictures taken with some of the folks who dressed up. I do want to thank Chris Jackson
and his entire staff for doing everything they could so we would enjoy the
