STAR WARS
& HOCKEY COMBINED Not unlike last year the night consisted of shaking hands, signing autographs, photo ops and making little kids smile. The two most popular costumes had to be the 6' 7" Stormtrooper and the Senatorial Jar Jar Binks. We heard a few "I hate Jar Jar" and "I wish you were dead Jar Jar" comments but those were overwhelmed by the number of times we heard "WOW, look mom it's Jar Jar" and "I love you Jar Jar." The Binkster was a big hit with the kids.

The
wind was howling and the air was colder than a January night on Hoth.
But that didn't deter 18 Star Wars enthusiasts from invading the
Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. Two Boba Fetts, Luke, Leia, Han, Jar Jar
Binks, two Jedi, an Imperial Officer, seven Stormtroopers, a Biker
Scout and a Red Imperial Guard took to the task of entertaining over
3000 Hockey and Star Wars fans.
We
were pleased with the number of costumers that turned out on a night
of fairly bad weather. There were people from Cedar Rapids, Des
Moines, Omaha, St. Louis and Minneapolis. One of my favorites for
the night was the opportunity to embarrass six of my former
students. After having their picture taken with the RG I would take
off my helmet and say HI! The expressions on their faces were
priceless.
