SANDTROOPERS PROTECTING THE GALAXY
The second day at Creation Weekend was much busier
than the first. Upon arrival I would once again serve the
501st Legion as TD 7306. The
second day was Star Trek day, and to tell you the truth this really
felt like a Star Trek show more than a Star Wars show. Somehow it
just felt like we were imposing.
Shortly
after my short jaunt around the convention to see how everything
was, I made way to get suited up as several more members from the
Legion had arrived. I saw my second Gamorrean Guard in as many days,
it is so beyond me how those guys can sweat like that! We also had
Darth Maul, Boba & Jango Fett show up to bolster our forces. The
most impressive new costume I saw was Darth Revan. The fans choice
figure was well represented by a very choice costume. I made sure to
get a couple close-up shots so Troops could see the high detail in
the mask.
There
was also a few Jedi and a girl who did a great job with her Princess
Leia costume. I was very impressed by the likeness and the superb
job she did with her make up. We did our best to lure her to the
Dark Side! Another interesting aspect was the vast amount of Star
Trek costumes. The Trekkies were out in force and I really did enjoy
the intertwining of the genres. I found it interesting to see how
the other guys do it. This day would be huge for them as Marina
Sirtis and Johnathan Frakes would be on stage together for the first
time in a long time. The room was packed and the crowd was very
loud! I did get quite a chuckle when I heard a couple of them
comment how hot they were in their shirts. It must be the iron-on
above the left breast? I don’t think they have much on those of us
in armor or clad in Jedi robes!
Overall, I had a great time with
Jeremy Bulloch, Doug Wangler and Justin Chung. It was great to catch
up with Mr. Fett again and hear of his never-ending travels. Master
Vos continues to make his U.S. world tour, which I’m told will be
headed for Wizard World Texas next. While I’m not a Topps card
collector, I found the work by Justin to be very appealing and the
man is very talented and we can truly appreciate how he’s bringing
world famous comics to new levels. I did not make it out Sunday for
Battlestar Galactica day, but I’m feeling a bit road-weary after the
past two days and it’s time for my Dewback to take a rest. Until
next time, United We Find and thanks again to the Creation Staff for
showing us a great time and putting on a very well run convention as
this was one of the more organized shows I’ve ever attended.
