DAY 5: GOODBYE
CELEBRATION IV
Well,
things at CIV are starting to wind down. Most of the people are
gone, but there is a mad rush for the GG exclusives when the doors
opened, surprise, surprise. I spent most of the day wheeling and
dealing some of the vendors to drop their prices. I got the idea
from Fence to hold on to my cash until the last day. The vendors
need to ship their warez back home or do something with them. I was
able to plug plenty of holes in my collection for a decent price, at
or below original cost of ships/figures. I was pretty happy with my
haul. I swung by the Endor diorama. That exhibit is so big!! That
was a great activity for families to spend time with each other.
There
was one last panel I wanted to see, The Force Among Us documentary
by Chris & Courtney Macht. This move is about us the Star Wars fans.
It removes the stereo type that we are all males living in our
parent's basement. Dan Madsen the original Fan Club leader and SW
Celebration I producer was there as well to comment on fandom. They
started filming in March of 2006 and it should be released on DVD by
the End of June. To my surprise three of our sandtroopers were
interviewed, Chris Spice, Chris Rhoads and one other. Sorry but I
don't know all the troopers here. Troopers you need to see this
movie. Go to
ForceAmongUs.com to get more information and order the DVD.
This
is my first convention outside of work. It was good seeing troopers
for the first time. All the troopers I meet are great and the bond
of collecting SW figures has brought us together. It was sad to see
CIV end, but we need to go back home to "A galaxy near and now…"
Rumors swirled that CV will be in LA in 2009. I said my goodbyes to
troopers still here like gran3131 and Fence. A few last pictures
were taken and I hauled my stash of good buys home. I will have a
review of the Irvin Kershner hour, Ray Park hour, Robot Chicken, and
The Force Unleashed shortly. Goodbye CIV and United We Find!!!
