DAY 2: HASBRO PRESENTATION
What’s new at Hasbro? The answer to that is quite a bit but a quick summary will help shed a little bit of light on what is to come. The presentation began with the newest waves of Galactic Heroes that will also continue with the cinema scenes and vehicles this fall. The Cantina band and encounter will be available at Wal-Mart only. Fans will also be thrilled with the Battle for Naboo and Hoth sets that will be Toys R Us Exclusives. The Assault on the Death Star and Jabba’s Palace will be Target Exclusives, so the distribution will be two per store.

The Unleashed Battle Packs will also continue with some highlights being the Mygeeto and Mace Windu Clone Battalion and the Battle Droid set was pretty slick as well. Although I’ve never been a big fan of the Star Wars Transformers, the Death Star/Vader was pretty amazing but probably second to the AT-AT that will be hitting this fall.

The T.A.C. collection will have many highlights this year. The 3.75" line will not be forgotten. Wave 4, 5, 6 and 7 should provide the equal balance Hasbro is continuing to strive towards. The goal of keeping both collectors and kids happy is quite the challenge. However I think you’ll see the McQuarrie Vader, as well as old Ralph himself will certainly keep die hard purists happy. However I think fans will really appreciate the many sets of Comic Packs that will include many of the most wanted by collectors. The Separation of Twins will be back, with a comic as well as Boba Fett with Sarlacc goo and Death Star Droid will be exclusive to Wal-Mart but the biggest news might have been the confirmation of Commander Keller and Galactic Marine. However the cry for vehicles has been answered as well with the General Grievous Starfighter and AT-TP. The Starfighter even fits the General as the AT-TP will be able to hold three figures! The Comic-Con Exclusives of Obi-Wan and Yoda and the Steath Scout Trooper will both be hitting this summer along with the concept series art Grievous. The Y-Wing with Lt. Lapira and astromech will also be Toys R Us exclusives along with the 181st TIE Interceptor. However I think the biggest giraffe exclusive might be the Jedi Starfighter with Hyperspace ring. This almost makes us ask, why not do it right the first time?

There was also the presentation of the winner of the spring loaded lightsaber Youtube challenge as Lee Vehe really did hit a home run with hit submission. The one of a kind lightsaber was delivered to him personally by the Hasbro brass. They really did save the best for last as it was revealed they will produce an exclusive R2-KT figure to honor Katie Johnson. While her time on this earth was too short, her spirit will live on forever. There is also going to be a 100,000 dollar donation courtesy of Hasbro and Lucasfilm. This was without a doubt a serious class-A move by Hasbro and I think the recognition the Legion receives is well deserved. It only makes me more proud to be a part of this great community and hobby. So what’s new from Hasbro? A bright future!
