DAY 1: SANDTROOPERS INVADE LOS ANGELES
The Celebration is underway and team Sandtroopers is on the scene taking photos and doing their best to simply maneuver throughout the city. The thirtieth anniversary is not showing us any signs of rust as far as Hasbro, Gentle Giant and Sideshow Collectibles are concerned. With what is on the horizon I’m sure collectors will be most pleased with the latest offerings from Hasbro.

The McQuarrie figures are certainly going to be a highlight for many fans. I’m sure people who have asking for new vehicles will be most pleased to see the new Jedi Starfighter (with hyperspace ring) as well as the repainted ARC-170 and battlepack fly into their collections. The area was very crowded and there was a little bit of turmoil for fans waiting to score the Concept Luke. The line kept capping and people were asked to go shop around and “come back later” to get the Hasbro Toy Shop Exclusive. You would have thought they might have had a better set up for the distribution among the thousands of people. I was told the line for the droids was much better. Overall, I think most will find the future to be most promising and enjoyable for collectors.

The team at Sideshow unveiled a couple of nice surprises, the most notable would be the Biker Scout on Speeder Premium Format figure. At eight hundred dollars, I’m very interested to see how well this high priced wonder is received. There was also a bronze Darth Vader that will be limited to 50 pieces and will also sport a very high price tag. The 1:1 line will get its first taste of Bounty Hunter with the addition of Bossk. I was really blown away seeing the R2-D2 and C-3PO life-size set, and if I do decide to purchase I know divorce papers are soon to follow!

The Gentle Giant booth was also swamped. However unlike other areas, the lines did seem to move pretty smooth. We can look forward to Admiral Ackbar, Tusken Raider and the Clone Engineer joining the mini-bust line. However I’ll be anxiously waiting to see the outcome of their distribution plan for their exclusives. As most collectors seem to share the sentiment that it’s not going to work, and someone is going to come up short.

Overall, I’d say the best experience of being out here has to be meeting up with fellow Troopers like Starfox, Jedi Hawk, Boba Fence, Jacen Solo and so many others that are going to make the next few days very special ones. We will do our best to deliver the best possible coverage. United We Find!
