BREAKING
NEWS FROM C3!
CIII has been really busy today. Nothing like getting up to
downpours, standing in the lines for the doors to open up, getting
soaked, to be told that either items have sold out, or the CIII
store has closed at 11:00am for the day.
I met up with Dave (Boba Binks) at about 8:15am to get the Exclusive
Gentle Giant Bust. (We have Volunteer/Exhibitor Badges that allow us
early access) We were about 30 people back. At about 8:50am, 10
minutes until the doors open, the general public were let in, and
stormed the area and were cutting all of the people in line.
Security didn't do anything about it, even though we complained. The
doors opened, and there were all of the Exhibitors already in line.
They are let in early to set up, but they got in line as well.
Things were crazy, and the line was in all directions so I decided
to bail from that and go to the Code3 Collectibles since no one was
there. I don't know if Binks ever got his GG Bust, I know I didn't
get mine. Code3 was offering an Exclusive C3 TESB 3-D Vader Mini
Poster. This thing is very cool. I managed to get 1 and good thing I
did, they are completely sold out. They will not have anymore
available at C3.
Onto
the Exclusive Vader Figures. I got into the shorter line because of
my volunteer badge, but ended up waiting for about 2 hours. I was
told that there will be plenty of Vaders for the whole event, but
other items like T-Shirts, and Hats are starting to sell out. Don't
believe the hype on E-Bay about the figs being totally sold out.
There are skids of these things everywhere in the back. As soon I as
got my figures, which are very cool I might add, they made the
announcement that the C3 Store is closed for the rest of the day.
Turned out by 11:00AM they already had enough people in line that
will be there until the event closes at 8:00PM. That's a long, long
day sitting in line. We were told that the people who were in line
yesterday that didn't get their figures were given wristbands to be
the first ones in line today. I don't know if that is true or not,
so take it for what it's worth. There were so many people that were
pissed off over this and I don't blame them. Even the vendors
selling merchandise have signs up asking people to sell their
Talking Vaders. This thing has completely gone nuts.
Next,
I was off to the Hasbro booth to get a glimpse of what's about to
come our way for figures and other items in the near future. Please
check out all of the photos I took. The new Unleashed line looks so
cool. This line is not one to pass up. The detail on these are so
dead on. I then noticed that M+M's will have figures out as well
dressed in Star Wars attire. I then found the M+M folks playing a
trailer featuring the characters, and I managed to get some cool
shots right off the Plasma TV they had set up. These look cool as
well. My kids will love 'em.
I
then had to make my way over to the Autograph Hall for my volunteer
shift of working with the Official Pix Company since my shift was
about to begin. Today I was going to be a guest escort that collects
all of the tickets, and makes sure the guests are happy. Today I was
sitting in for none other than Christine Hewett (Cantina Tommika
Twin Sister). Last summer Spice met up with her and had a great
interview and once I introduced myself from the site, she lit up,
and said how much she really liked Spice and the rest of the site.
10 minutes into my shift she was pulled away for 20 minutes.
The

gave to me as proof. I am holding on to this still. When
she came back she was very happy, she told me that she had just met
up with the Hasbro reps to finally talk about releasing her
character as a figure. Everyone into dioramas have been asking for
years to make this figure, and hopefully in the near future, but not
yet officially announced it will be made. She has waited very long
for this to happen, and was ecstatic over the news. Earlier in the
AM Hasbro had their open Q+A session and it was discussed that there
were no talks of making this figure yet. Looks like they changed
their minds very quickly, and I was there to get the news to you
first hand. Christine was such a nice person. I couldn't have met a
nicer lady to spend my afternoon with. What a complete class act. I
do hope to see her again.
I
then finally met up with Spice and Dan, and briefly talked with
them. Dan got in today and set up his Diorama. He seemed very proud
of this. I will get the chance to see it and to get pictures of it
tomorrow. Also, last night Spice, Boba Fence, RJP, Bebe Fett, Snipe,
Spice's Cousin, and Chad (Jedichirp from TheJawa) all went out for
drinks, soda for the kids. It was very cool to finally met the
people we write back to on a daily basis. I had a blast with them
all, and I hope they had a good time too.

convention center will be packed to full capacity with Mr. Lucas
